Special occasion dinner. I suggest reservations a few weeks ahead. Restaurant easy to find with ample parking. It's a quaint home converted to a restaurant. Small but impeccably decorated. Ambience is casual but it seemed fitting to dress up. Not a restaurant for children. To start, let me say the service staff were wonderful. They all worked as a team with the singular goal of a memorable dining experience. The menu offered something for everyone's taste. My advice is to try their specials and limited time offerings. Another thing we did is take our waiters advice on seasonings and sauce. Most entrees come with several options. Raymond our server did us well. For appetizers we started with the She Crab soup and the Cedar Bay Clams. Our entrees were the Angus Tenderloin sprinkled with Gorgonzola, Mashed Potatoes on the side, and the Australian Wagyu Ribs with Vegetables and Risotto. The food was expertly prepared, delectable taste and the most tender beef we've ever had. Both paired well with some Cabernet and Pinot Noir. Finishing touch was Limoncello Cake. We had 5PM reservations. We arrived at 4:45 as did several others with reservations. It happened to be a very cold, rainy day and the hostess forced us stand on the porch until exactly 5:00. Yes there was an overhang so we didn't get wet but we froze. If I were the hostess, I would have invited the guests to sit at the bar rather than wait in the cold. Once seated, we felt very rushed. The wait staff clearly wanted to ensure that we wouldn't overstay our time slot. We used to look forward to our dinners at Vintage. We won't return. read more

This is an absolute must if you live in the area. We live in Ocala and make sure we come over here at least 2-3 times a year. If we lived in CR it would be once a month for us. Our family had a bad experience tonight. After over an hour all 5 meals came dry and overcooked. The waitress said the chef would do nothing. As we walked out the owner asked if we enjoyed our meals. This place is a treasure. Everyone's food at our table was perfect. We all (4 of us) had grouper prepared differently. Each though they had made the right decision. The sides were excellent. Wow. Wonderful people and delicious food. On vacation, we called in the afternoon to ask if they could accommodate a vegan, and if they could take a party of thirteen that same night. Nancy assured us that they would make a fabulous vegan meal, and seat us in their private wine room. Upon arrival, remembering there was a vegan among us, they reassured us the bread was vegan and un-buttered (if you're a vegan, you know how much relief this brings), and then our waitress walked us through the evening's selections and prices from memory. She made great wine recommendations, was friendly and knowledgeable, and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was tasty and well portioned. The vegan option they brought was a stuffed pepper with vegetable risotto, which was delightful. Needless to say, everyone in our party was greatly impressed and well fed. By far the best dining experience in Crystal River. Located in a charming building that once was a church it's very warm and comfortable inside. Great menu and wine list and the staff was very Covid courteous as everyone had face shields. Food was amazing. Vintage on 5th is one of the best restaurants in Central Florida. The staff is outstanding and the food at the top level. Shrimp and Grits, the grouper and steaks are at the top of my list. They have an extensive wine list and Valerie behind the bar is the top in the business with helping you find the perfect choice. Reservations are certainly suggested because Vintage is so popular with people who love good food. Without reservations you can sometimes find space at the bar to enjoy a meal, just don't take our seats. read more

Out of Rack of Lamb (two pieces had been available at opening but out now). Out of Rib Steak. Oh, and out of Cioppino, but they "don't really serve it anyway." 30 minutes after opening and already "out of" 3 items? Ended up ordering two appetizers. The fried green tomatoes were excellent, the Cedar Key clams were steamed to pencil eraser consistency. The birthday celebration dinner was completed by the gracious server presenting me with a single lighted birthday candle (the little short, skinny ones you find at the supermarket in the tiny box with 20 or 30 others) CLASPED BETWEEN HER THUMB AND FOREFINGER, 'because we hadn't ordered dessert.' Wow!  This place is really good!!   My sister and I had dinner here on May 30.  Our experience was not just good, it was exceptionally good.   The Good: When we called to reserve a table we were guaranteed outdoor seating on the very nice veranda, and were put on a waiting list for indoor seating.  A day later we were called by a very pleasant woman to tell us we would have an indoor table.  Such excellent communication is uncommon.   The Better: The interior is nicely furnished and comfortable; all the colors and wall hangings work together to give an up-scale casual feel that is perfectly balanced: not too fancy and not too casual.   The Best: The menu is terrific: not too long and not too short with creative and balanced seafood, chicken, beef, and pasta options.  And if you are in the mood for wine, you will find a list that is, again, not too long nor too short. To me, it offered a generous selection of whites, reds, and bubbly, with big names, common names, and boutique names.  All of the wines on the list are very, very well priced.  You will not see the usual 2x and 3x markups here.   I had the fresh grouper cooked francese style with a side of risotto.  The portions were generous and served hot and delicious.  This was hands-down one of the best seafood dishes I have ever had.   My sister's filet was also delicious, cooked with a bit of a crust and served dead-on medium rare with a side of mashed potatoes infused with some bacon.  Here too, this is one of the most delicious filets I have ever tasted.   This is a DEFINITE do-over for me when I come back to Crystal River.  This is an excellent restaurant that would be a stand-out experience anywhere in the country. read more

Our first visit to this outstanding restaurant with a friend won't be our last. We had the escargot, she-crab soup, and shrimp cocktail for starters. Ahi tuna, grouper, and rack of lamb for our main meal and creme brûlée for desert. Everything was excellent and far exceeded our expectations which were high.
