Scallop special

Always phenomenal food. Great service. I go back a few times a month to try the various specials. The ladies behind the bar are great at suggesting wine based on your preferred tasting notes.

Food was fantastic! My friends and I enjoyed the variety of small plates to share. Each one is special and delicious!

I love this place so much! I had to bring my mother in law. She is hard to please but this place was a hit! She loved it! Every single dish was wonderful! And the server was as sweet as last time. I will be back soon.

This is a great spot to grab a happy hour glass of wine and some small plates. Honestly when you walk in you don't even know you're in OB anymore (I love the OB charm but I don't mind a change of scenery too). They have weekend happy hour on both Saturday and Sunday til 4. We tried the meatballs, shishito peppers and seared tuna for small plates. They are were very tasty. For wine I chose the red blend from Paso Robles (a nice pour). Service was very friendly and knowledgeable.

What a treat! Another Ocean Beach gem I was finally able to check out. I've walked by Vinum Locus so many times chasing sunsets at the beach and finally stopped in for some good grape juice! Ha Vinum Locus is small, intimate yet casual wine bistro right off Newport. Staff were super helpful in matching wines to your palate and the chef is curating what seems to be daily specials and small bites that pair well with any wine preferences. The stone fruit bruschetta and the sea bass entree were the perfect pairing to my wine flight. Absolutely will stop back in to try more of the menu! Definitely add this one to your wine bar list!

My husband and I were looking for a fairly nice dining experience for New Year's Eve and stumbled upon this place. Unfortunately we we're a little late and weren't able to die in here, but it's been on my mind since! So finally we made our way back and finally got to dying here this past thursday! I believe our server's name was alexis, she was super nice, hospitable, warm and welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu and whines. I honestly had high expectations of this place and was so happily impressed that it lived up to my impression! My husband ordered a glass of white wine that he loved so much he bought a bottle before we left (btw some bottles are 20%)! It seems the charcuterie board is a signature item since it is displayed in detail on their back wall, although we felt like that might have been a little too much in addition to some Main dishes. Instead we ordered the olives, the stuffed dates, two caviar hash browns, the red and purple carrots, and I ordered the Beet and goat cheese salad with New York strip on the side and my husband ordered the main dish New York strip. I loved everything we ordered! I was so happy, everything had such a wonderful combination of flavor. We just moved to OB and I'm really excited to make this a new regular spot for my husband and I. If you're looking for a nice dining experience, that is a little hole in the wall, and affordable, this is the spot!

Absolutely delicious, great value, high quality!

Great food, quality ingredients, very nice vibe! Hidden gem, most definitely will go back!

When Maudie serves prepare for the serendipity of wonderful food & wine meeting perpiscacity . This inchoate miracle is quietly attracting gourmands from all over the international region and the brilliance of VL is they cover the waterfront from flights to honey dripped bread converting all to the body & blood of a magic night out on Newport Avenue under the shadow of Luigi, The Black and Sacred Heart of Ocean Beach.

Me enjoying my wine flight.

Highly recommend! We had the charcuterie and everything was delicious. The side items on the charcuterie plate are different than you get other places and really good (roasted garlic, for example). We each had a wine flight and tried different kinds of wine. All of them were good and we had a delicious South African red blend that was amazing! Planning to go back again soon.

HH carpaccio and HH ahi lettuce cups! SO delicious and beautiful!!!

For example, the pistachio cream on the charcuterie is not only delicious, but sounds like a labor of love.

Very cute and cozy spot with a gorgeous, comfortable patio on warm days. They do have big umbrellas…read moreif it's too sunny. I started with a lavender latte- delicious. Then I had a steak and blue cheese flatbread. It came with soups or salad, and I had a small cup of French onion soup- good, but not remarkable. The flatbread was accidentally delivered as the blue burger flatbread with hamburger meat instead of steak. It was good, even if not what I expected. It could have used some sort of sauce between the meat and cheese and the bread- or maybe just a layer of melty blue cheese instead of the as crumbles on top? Something to help the toppings stick. My SIL had the tuna nicoise- it looked delicious and she said it was very good. The potatoes are warm- which would be a plus for me! It's a hearty bowl full of veggies including asparagus, salmon, potatoes etc. Several people ordered the shakshuka and said it was very good. It has a bit of spice, and good amount of sausage or bacon. My grandpa said the eggs were hard to find, but I think they were just baked under the sauce and layers of bacon and cheese. Service can be a bit slow- it was more than 30 minutes from when we ordered to when the food was brought out and there were few tables occupied, so be prepared to enjoy a leisurely meal here. Everything is prepared to order- it's worth the wait!

Parking in this plaza was not optimal with too few spaces for all of the businesses. The inside setup featured a compact bar with about four spots near the front entrance and several small tables. I believe there was also an outside patio adjacent to a side entrance, but I didn't venture over there to check the layout. For a kitchen of limited size, the menu was rather extensive. The categories on the two pages ranged from starters, sliders, soups, small plates, shareables, salads, flatbread, and desserts. There was also a list of the day's specials that featured eight full size entrees ranging from $22 to $38. I selected the first one from the list which was the Seafood Pasta. Fettucine noodles were cooked in an herbed tomato sauce with shrimp, scallops, salmon, and mussels. The item took about 15 minutes to be prepared. A healthy amount of parmesan cheese was grated on top of the dish. There were roughly two to four pieces of each seafood type. The sauce was light but well-seasoned from the herbs. For the serving size, I thought the $35 price tag was fair compared to upscale Italian restaurants around town. I had no qualms with giving a four star rating for my dinner at Juno's.

Our server was so friendly and brought out menus quickly since it was self seating. The outside seating was the perfect spot for some people watching and generally enjoying the weather. Now in terms of the food.. we enjoyed the little pickle platter. Unfortunately it came out much earlier than the rolls and we were quite hungry so we ate most of them before our rolls came out. They would have been great pairings with the rolls themselves. The kabocha squash roll was so unique and surprisingly tasty. A sweeter creamier roll for sure. The salmon skin roll was a nice savory balance to the squash roll. I'd have to say the salmon skin roll was my favorite. We'll definitely be back to try some of the other rolls!

And this review is after that experience, so we can compare and contrast things like pricing and quality. When you come here you must bring a loaded wallet. To try a sour beer or any of their Russian River beers, (which was a surprise to us that there even was beer coming out of Russian River, a place I love for wine) .... is $19 for a bottle. And if you've never tried a sour beer and no one likes it, there are no returns. You pay your money and you take your chances. They are creative at The Joint. I mean an eel roll with macadamia nuts is a brilliant twist on sushi. The second thing we try is their soft shell crab roll. Delicious. Everyone at the table 'seconds' these comments. I ask someone on the way in, seated at a table eating sushi if it is good. He says: "I'll let you know". Later, he comes back to our table to let me yes! It's really good". So is this a good place to go for Sushi? The answer is yes. Is it a little confusing as an asian fusion place to have so many diverse choices? The answer is yes, but I also admit I do like all the options. Again, they call their Happy Hour food 'Tapas'. Is that Spanish, or is it just me? Japanese fried chicken or an arugula salad or oysters? lol Your taste buds must travel all over the place and that's hard on the palate and my headspace of 'what am I eating'? Is it overpriced? The answer is yes! And if I'm being honest, it surprises me that no one else on yelp is mentioning this. If money is not an issue and you want good sushi, our group recommends trying The Joint. Just don't count on happy hour having happy prices. $4 for an oyster is not happy! It's regular priced. Maybe even over priced for a happy hour menu where oysters come in at $1 and $2 for happy hour. And today, they are all out of oysters. lol We usually just tell you what to order when you go to a restaurant. This is the first time we have felt the need to let you know what you're in for, price wise. Sorry to the wonderful staff and great chef. No idea why they need to represent themselves as 'happy hour noon - 6pm every day', leading me to believe there is good pricing. But it's not my zoo, not my monkeys.
