I just picked up my wedding dress from VIP Alterations yesterday and not only did I genuinely have a wonderful experience but they truly are working magic in here. They were recommended to me by the bridal shop where I bought my dress and the shop had full confidence in directing me to them for my alterations. You can tell Alberto is highly experienced and has a natural eye for his craft, where adjustments need to be made and made me feel at peace knowing they would perfect my dress for the big day (which is very helpful during a hectic time of wedding planning). Needless to say, he pays attention to every detail and the dress could not fit more perfectly to my body. I needed the trim raised a bit so I wouldn't trip over my dress for our father-daughter dance and he executed this flawlessly. We even walked across the room together, and I did some spins in it to get an idea of how it would feel on my wedding day. They also helped me video how to bustle the dress for my bridesmaids to see. All of this really helped put me at ease and I appreciate them for being so professional and friendly. I know being a bride can be stressful and I saw a pretty snappy bride during one of my visits so please be respectful because they truly do reciprocate kindness and will explain their process to you. Please do not go to Alberto's VIP Alterations! You will not be treated with respect or professionalism. I was crying and very upset after this experience. I went to try on my wedding dress for a fitting. From the start, Alberto made me feel unwelcome. Before I barely even said "hi," he was defensive, citing his awards and certifications on the walls saying I needed to listen to him carefully regarding the process. He briefly explained the process but made it clear that if I didn't like the price, I could leave. This was before anything had even happened...before trying on the dress and even knowing what was going on in regards to price. Part of me thought, "Okay, he has certifications and awards, let's trust that," but another part of me felt uneasy by his approach. It felt orchestrated by him annd other staff who told me I needed to listen to what he was about to say. When I went to try on my dress, I was asking normal questions, but anytime I pointed something out to get clarification or his opinion, he became defensive. He repeatedly threatened me with the security cameras and took pictures of me in the dress, saying that this evidence was all proof and that I can't come back later and say I didn't like the dress. This was so strange and off-putting to me. I wasn't mad at him...or saying I didn't like what he was doing or that I would be upset with him if it didn't come out right - weird. I tried to calm him down and explained that I wasn't upset but just trying to understand the options and get his opinion. He somewhat calmed down. The alteration prices were extremely high -- $1700, which was almost the cost of the dress itself. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. If he was this confident in his work and awards, then I could trust him to help me out and give me an acceptable dress. The next day, I noticed a detail in a picture my mom took from the fitting that didn't seem quite right. I called Alberto's and asked if they could send me a picture they had from the fitting to clarify things. I was calm and polite, but they asked if they could call me back because they were busy. In the meantime, they sent me a blurry video, and when I responded with the picture my mom took, Alberto himself called me. He immediately started yelling at me, telling me he was dropping me as a client and to pick up my dress and that he will refund me. I was in shock. I tried to explain again that I wasn't upset or accusing anyone of anything. I was very calm and trying to understand what the heck just happened! I only wanted to clarify something with the dress and get his opinion. He said he was too busy to deal with me and that he had lots of other customers he had to deal with, so he handed the phone to his wife which was very cowardly. She told me that he wouldn't work with me anymore. I was incredibly disappointed and upset, especially since my wedding is only three weeks away, which I explained. I attempted to explain to his wife that it appeared he felt I was mad or accused him of something. She was unwilling to resolve the issue. When I went back to the shop to get a refund, I confronted them about how unprofessional it all was. They ignored me and processed the refund. . I was referred to VIP Alterations by Bella Bridal where I bought my wedding dress. Alberto did such an incredible job with my dress. My dress was a strapless dress and I was worried that it was going to be a problem all day but he made sure my dress fit like a glove and it didn't move at all. I put my trust entirely in the hands of Alberto and his niece to tailor my wedding dress. The alterations I needed were not necessarily standard, I needed a significant hem (I'm 4'9"), and needed the cups of my dress to be taken in, which required taking the top part of the dress apart - not an easy task with all of the fine details and appliqué. Alberto made my dress fit PERFECTLY. I loved how it fit me like a glove, and as a strapless dress it stayed up the entire day of my wedding. I even danced in it for several hours! Even though he took 2 entire inches off of the dress cups, he put it back together seamlessly. Alberto can come off as being a bit assertive at times, but once I got past that initial impression I found him to be extremely sweet and most importantly - COMPETENT. His niece was also very kind and helped my bridesmaid learn how to put up the bustle, so that on the day of the wedding it only took a few minutes to put it up (and it stayed up). Alberto was rude and screamed at me. Horrible experience for a bride I asked him a question about my wedding gown and became angry.

Less than 4% of my 230 reviews are 1 star. Picked up my alterations today and cried as soon as I got out of there. I have never in my life been treated so poorly- like I'm not a human. I'm concerned for future patrons that have to deal with the owner Alberto, and hope this review catches them first. I got 2 pants and 3 skirts tailored here for their waists to be taken in, mainly. Unfortunately, the first pant I tried on upon pick-up today led me to ask Alberto and the older lady working there about the drooping front loophole and zipper area. Alberto would not let me finish a sentence before shoving papers in my face. A brand new $600 work pant that I have not yet worn, ruined. I'd never spent on a pair of pants like this before- but got a new job and splurged. I told them I came here despite how pricey they are because I wanted a reliable tailor Astronomical prices for basic alterations = basic alterations getting completed properly, right? WRONG. Alberto was alarmingly quick to cut me off, and the behavior I had to endure for the next 40 minutes was absolutely FRIGHTENING. He aggressively got in my face, yelling at me and the lady working there the ENTIRE time, and would not let me get a single word in. I was choking on my words, and shaking. He kept screaming I don't want to talk to you, yet he would not stop shouting at me the entire time I was there, and lashing out in Spanish (which I understand..), not even while I was changing in the fitting room feverishly trying to try the rest of my garments on. I tried on a high waisted business pencil skirt that was still 4 inches big on my waist.. this should be Tailor 101. Albert and the lady's defense was that "waist is down where your hips are." No.... I verbatim told Albert I want this tight on where my bellybutton is (hence, high waisted pencil), and that is how he pinned it. After more shouting, he said he can take the skirt in more; to which I admitted I am not comfortable returning to his establishment after I watched him physically abuse the lady who works there (maybe his wife? they seem related in some way). He did not take that well and lashed out screaming more, with no regard that there were other customers in the store. I moved on to the next 2 skirts that were both crooked and had holes at their waists, and came out trying to ask them "is this how it's supposed to look?" (treading lightly with my words, knowing Albert has the temper of a toddler getting toy taken away). The lady is looking at me ignoring me, too. Eventually she says "he does not want to talk to you" again- meanwhile he has not stopped yelling. Then he admitted it looks so bad because he forgot to cut the tight inner seams.. Then he shouts "$200 total? nothing I will give it back" as if a refund is the proper consolation here. How about you hear your paying customer out when they have something to say? Side note- the total was AFTER a 15% discount for checking in on yelp. I found it odd I had to pay for all the alterations upfront at drop off. When I told them I got the 15% QR code the worker almost didn't honor it. Be weary, folks. Today at pick up Alberto kept on screaming "I am an honest man." I tried to speak to him to help calm him down, putting my own sadness aside, in fear for the lady I just watched get assaulted. He grabbed her arm and shoved her out of the way when she was trying to calm him down in early stages of his perpetual toddler tantrum. They both just wanted to shut me up, and force a check on me, despite me saying several times I do not want a full refund. I calmly told the lady it's not right for him to treat customers like this, to which she replied "RELAX, just take your check" while shooing me away. These people have no shame. All I wanted was to be treated with respect. 1 apology would have gone a LONG way. I will never forget the inappropriate rage of Alberto. $600 pants ruined. ** Save your $$$, go to NORDSTROM for quality service and STANDARDS with how paying customers get treated. Spare yourself the PTSD, do NOT go here. ** ** Response to Owner's rep TY for confirming my initial words were as little as the pants were a "little saggy" - a comment SO little prompted Alberto's theatrics. "sweetie" and "God bless you" were clearly in vain. The abuse was in front of my eyes right at the fitting room- where all standing. I never asked for a penny. Lie. Rewatch Went back to room to give him skirt fast to fix before he had another episode. Lol Ultimately- It is very sad that even the social media rep is not capable of apologizing for what matters the most here- speaking to your customer like scum. There is NO excuse. With an incredibly short time to find a dress and make alterations, I prayed it would all work out how it should! I was referred to Alberto from Bella Bridal in Thousand Oaks. I was so blessed to meet Alberto, who was gracious and kind to my mom and I who came in immediately after finding my wedding gown on an early Tuesday afternoon. Immediately after meeting, I felt connected to him! I saw not only how special he was, but how gifted he is and such a master at his craft with his background and expertise in tailoring. I REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars as the whole experience was lovely! But ultimately, the 4 starts is because of the high price tag. Alberto is the kindest and sweetest man! He was attentive and took his time when I came in for my initial appointment. My dress needed minimal alterations (hem, straps fixed and I added buttons down the back to cover up the zipper). He quoted me about $470 total for all of the work. The hemming alone was going to cost $69 per layer and I have 3 layers! I was a bit shocked at the price but told myself that this place was top notch (based on the reviews) and paid the $200 deposit. A few weeks later, I was chatting with a friend who had her dress hemmed by another alterations specialist and was only charged $65 total for her hem. Her dress needed MUCH more work than mine overall so I gave this new person a call, explained my situation, sent photos of my dress to her and she quoted me $65 for the hem. Additionally, she provides cleaning services as well and since my dress is off the rack, it needs a good cleaning. She quoted way less for this service as well. I eventually decided to go with another alterations person as the cost with Alberto was hard for me to justify. His team is wonderful and I am so appreciative for the work he did perform. read more

The owner thinks very highly of himself and is exceptionally rude to customers. He thankfully has a nice lady that handles the majority of client interactions for scheduling but you still have to deal with his audacity during fiitting. Even though I made my appointment 5 weeks prior, he helped a man that walked in off the street before me. He then proceeded to tell me that the hemming I requested would be a minimum of $850. You can easily find someone who can fit your dress for less than a quarter of the price and you won't have to be belittled by the arrogance of some man in the process. Before the clock strikes midnight 2024 in California, I wanted to write and express the absolutely heart-warming experience, I was fortunate to have with Alberto of VIP Alterations, this past March, 2023. Alberto was tasked by myself (through Sarah from Bella Bridal Couture) to alter an absolutely stunning silk gown. that Alberto sweetly said was a bit "too sexy" in the bodice, for my darling mother to don, during our final farewell. Once I saw that it was time to let Alberto work his magic and modify the beautiful couture gown into a more modest, queenly state to befit my mother, I trusted and left him to it. He did not disappoint, but rather outdid himself! I asked Alberto to ensure that the gown would be ready in time for the special dry cleaners, and then for my flight. To my joy and surprise, when I went to collect the dress, he let me know that he had already had it specially cleaned, and had covered the cost! I was astounded and so grateful. He was another unexpected angel that had crossed my path. In the end my mother's farewell gown looked truly exquisite, with a subtle and perfect bateau neck alteration. Originally came here to have some cups built into my gown for coverage and support. After finding VIP Alterations on Yelp, and seeing their amazing reviews and photos, I decided they were it! Called to make an appointment, and was able to come in same day, which was wonderful as I needed it done in 4 days. The shop is adorable, clean, and well decorated. The owners were so kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. They are 3rd generation tailors, which is comforting, and so impressive. It really takes great amount of skill to do this type of work, and I knew I was in the best hands! Upon putting on my gown, I was shown that the tiniest bit of gathering at the waistline on my gown was adding an inch to my silhouette. Doesn't seem like a lot, but when it was pinned to mimic the alteration, it took 5 pounds off my body immediately!!!! It was incredible that this small adjustment, that I didn't even realize I needed, could make me look slimmer! That is a great value for ALL WOMEN! Who doesn't want to look 5 pounds thinner?!?!? Pricing for my cups, and the waistline ateration was extremely fair, I believe under $60. My dress was done on time. Everyone was not only professional, but felt like family. I went in with my fiancé to get our respective wedding outfits tailored. My wife and I have gone to VIP alterations about 3 times so far and each occasion was met with success. I am a short, relatively fit male and unfortunately clothing stores rarely offer sizes that match my body type. At the same time, finding a tailer that is both of good value and is open on weekends is a bit of a chore. VIP Alterations exceeds these expectations and I have had 100% success rate with them. The owner will not price gouge you like some other tailers will; if a refitting will not work (they have to work within the laws of physics after all), they will not attempt to upsell you on "guesswork". First off, he's extremely narcissistic, aggressive, and impatient. He has zero respect for anyone but himself and peacocked the entire time about his skills. The thing about tailoring is once you start and know what "perfect" fitting clothes feel like, there is no going back. That said, I got 5 pairs of pants on sale at Nordstrom and even tho they do tailoring, I brought them to Alberto. The cost was not cheap (as much as the pants themselves) but all 5 are the best fitting pants and best tailoring I have ever had done to any of my clothes. Better is just better and it costs more. But I would rather pay for the best and be proud of it than get a good deal and know the job could have been done better. This place is all pro and I highly recommend. Tim read more

This place is the way to go!!!! I have been there a couple times and they always take care of me! From the moment i came in, they greeted me with a smile and welcomed me in. They always have a positive attitude and treat you like you are family. i came here because it was reccomended by my cousin. Initially it was for my wedding dress, but i didnt end up getting it altered here because i got a different dress. I came back at a later time for a dress i needed altered for my engagement shoot. It was more than i wanted to spend but there was many layers and they did a fantastic job. I have brought clothes and bridesmaids dresses to other places like the dry cleaners for cheaper price but only for them to end up RUINING your clothes in the end!! ive learned my lesson the hard way 3 seperate situations and decided to not go back. Note: If your clothes arent cheap, special, or you know you cant buy them again, dont take the risk to save a few extra bucks. VIP prices are reasonable. Every penny you spend here is well worth it. I can promise you that you will leave happy and glad you made the right decision to come here. Everyone who works here knows what they are doing.
