I absolutely hate writing negative reviews but I feel like I have to say something about my experience at Alberto's. When I look back my wedding, my biggest regret was getting my dress altered here. First off, he's extremely narcissistic, aggressive, and impatient. He has zero respect for anyone but himself and peacocked the entire time about his skills. I was a young bride, stressed and eager to cross the alterations off my long to do list but I wish more than anything I went elsewhere. He charged me an exorbitant price, probably 6x the average and his work was average. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! read more

My wife and I have gone to VIP alterations about 3 times so far and each occasion was met with success. I am a short, relatively fit male and unfortunately clothing stores rarely offer sizes that match my body type. At the same time, finding a tailer that is both of good value and is open on weekends is a bit of a chore. VIP Alterations exceeds these expectations and I have had 100% success rate with them. The owner will not price gouge you like some other tailers will; if a refitting will not work (they have to work within the laws of physics after all), they will not attempt to upsell you on "guesswork". I have found both honesty and efficiency matched with promptness and recommend that others try them out. You will not be disappointed. read more

The thing about tailoring is once you start and know what "perfect" fitting clothes feel like, there is no going back. That said, I got 5 pairs of pants on sale at Nordstrom and even tho they do tailoring, I brought them to Alberto. The cost was not cheap (as much as the pants themselves) but all 5 are the best fitting pants and best tailoring I have ever had done to any of my clothes. Better is just better and it costs more. This place is the way to go!!!! I have been there a couple times and they always take care of me! From the moment i came in, they greeted me with a smile and welcomed me in. They always have a positive attitude and treat you like you are family. i came here because it was reccomended by my cousin. Initially it was for my wedding dress, but i didnt end up getting it altered here because i got a different dress. I came back at a later time for a dress i needed altered for my engagement shoot. It was more than i wanted to spend but there was many layers and they did a fantastic job. I have brought clothes and bridesmaids dresses to other places like the dry cleaners for cheaper price but only for them to end up RUINING your clothes in the end!! ive learned my lesson the hard way 3 seperate situations and decided to not go back. Note: If your clothes arent cheap, special, or you know you cant buy them again, dont take the risk to save a few extra bucks. VIP prices are reasonable. Every penny you spend here is well worth it. Wow I cannot recommend VIP alterations enough - they saved my wedding dress. After my alterations at VIP I brought my dress to the dry cleaner (it was dirty because I bought it off the rack). When I picked up the dress 5 days before my wedding I discovered the dry cleaner had CUT the bustle off the dress. The dry cleaner attempted to sew on a new bustle which ended up being unusable (the back of the dress was being pulled down). I then scrambled and brought the dress back to VIP alterations hoping they would be able to redo the bustle before my wedding day. Alberto was fantastic. Not only did his team re-sew the bustle FOR FREE he was so calm and reassuring. It was such a sense of relief amidst the chaos of the wedding week. Cannot recommend VIP alterations enough! read more

I had first came here to get my wedding dress altered in February 2020 (right before COVID). I had to return ONE year later with the same dress to be altered. I was so nervous it was no longer going to fit me. Alberto pulled a miracle with my dress! He was able to alter my dress with the few inches I had gain during that past year. He did such an amazing job and his pricing is very fair with the amount of detail my wedding dress had. Him and his wife are the sweetest people ever. They made me feel right at home. I'm gonna be nice as I know this is a small business however, I'm going to be honest. Long story short: I went in to get alterations done here as I had years before. Years ago I had a positive experience and was happy and felt the pricing was fair and therefore decided to return. This time was TOTALLY different. I was not treated kindly (and I will leave it at that) so I decided to go elsewhere. But when I went to get my alterations done at Nordstrom I found out that this place was charging me 3x the cost then NORDSTROM was charging me for the EXACT same alterations. Nordstrom charged me $73 for all the alterations I wanted and this place quoted me over $200, it made me feel that I could no longer support this small business and I couldn't help but feel taken advantage of. Please shop around. The work from Nordstrom was absolutely beautiful and they got my item to me 3 days sooner than this place promised. I try my best to shop local and small businesses, unfortunately this one will no longer be one I can support. Disappointing. Response to owners comment: Now you've made me angry! Instead of taking responsibility for your gross overcharging, you make excuses. The work I received from Nordstrom was FANTASTIC. I didn't mention this in my other comments but I went to another "small business" tailor and they quoted $8 LESS than Nordstrom, however I wanted to go with Nordstrom just because I felt better going with a bigger named company for customer service and quality control. While I can understand a small business charging a bit more than say Nordstrom, NOT THREE TIMES MORE! Not to mention, you treated me like complete trash, tossing (throwing) my item at your assistant because you got mad when I said I wasn't going to go with you. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! Wish I could give zero stars. Horrible experience. I should have read the reviews from previous brides on here before I went to this place. I'm shocked that the place where I bought my wedding dress from down the street, and had a great experience with, recommended this place. The owner is beyond arrogant, disrespectful, and makes you feel terrible when it's supposed to be an exciting experience. The first thing he did was show off his two degrees, as if he thought he was some designer in Paris during fashion week. Then he preceded to tell us that he would tell us his vision for the dress and then I could tell him mine. The place I bought my dress told me I only needed minor alterations. He stated this extra work that needed to be done and then gave us a ridiculous price close to what I bought the dress for. We were still planning on continuing with the alterations, despite how uncomfortable he already made me feel. I asked if he could maybe loosen one part that he had pinned too tight and he told his assistant to go bring over a sign that said he could refuse service to anyone, as if I had to agree with exactly what he wanted to do with my dress despite what my "vision" was and despite all of the money we would have had to pay him. So upset he soured this wedding dress experience for me but so glad I didn't end up letting this horrible man touch my dress. I agree with other brides on here that said they really feel like he would have ruined their dress and their experience if they let this place alter their dress. There are a million other places to get alterations. Avoid this place and their horrible customer service. REPLY TO THE OWNERS COMMENT: Maybe you should have gotten a degree in customer service too. If you consider asking questions such as, "will my chest show when I'm dancing" and "will you be able to take out a part that wrinkles" rude then sure. Of course we were going to question your professional opinion because it was a lot of money, a dress I want to be perfect and I've never worked with you before, and luckily never will. I bought my dressing thinking I really loved it. Once I took it in to VIP alterations and they did their magic I fell in love with my dress even more. The team here did such an incredible job on making my dress for my body. Every detail of the dress was still there, it was like the dress wasn't even altered. I thought it was going to take weeks and weeks to fix the dress but it was a total of 3 weeks getting my dress back. Of course I was nervous taking my wedding dress in for someone to alter it but they put all my worries at ease and everything was altered to perfection. I couldn't recommend this place more. I would like to share that I also took an additional suit to Alberto which required similar alterations. However after examining my navy suit, Alberto identified a few areas of the fabric which were faded and deteriorating. Had a short notice request after realizing that, well...my suit pants needed for an important meeting just 3 days away on the east Coast didn't fit anymore! Walked into VIP Alterations on Wednesday and picked up two pair of perfectly fitting pants the early the next day. I can't say enough good things about the VIP Alterations team! They certainly understood my immediate needs and delivered. The entire process of reviewing my current fit, conducting measurements and paying for the alterations took no more than 10 minutes! I went to VIP alterations for the first time and was so happy with the alterations Alberto made to my dress. He and his wife are lovely and so kind and personable. I was so impressed with the quick turn around (ready the next day) and how my dress fit perfectly! He didn't even take measurements he just looked at it and said we can add a piece here and around the neck line. The neckline was too low and very revealing. While I don't have 100% success rate through Yelp, but rest assured it is well into the 90th percentile, going to VIP Alterations was one of the times where looking on Yelp paid off... not only once, but twice. I not only had success, but I recommended VIP to my daughter, and she, too, was very pleased. Both of us had brought our wedding gowns, hers as the maid of honor, and mine as mother of the bride, to be altered. We purchased our gowns from different places, but the bottom line was the same...... we wanted to look pretty, but the style of the gown wasn't necessarily figure flattering when we got them. My daughter didn't need that much done, but she hated how hers fit in the waistline. Once Alberto (or whoever did the actual work) finished with her dress, she was completely satisfied and relieved that it didn't look "boxey" as she put it. The end result was slimming to her already slim figure, and she definitely looked lovely. As for mine, it needed to be taken in at the bust, it needed hemming with not one, but THREE layers of chiffon, and I wanted thin bejeweled straps added to the top. Whichever person actually worked on my dress, they did a very nice job with the straps and taking in the dress, and the 3 layers were perfectly hemmed and even. I probably would have liked another inch off the bottom because I kept stepping on the dress when I actually wore it, but honestly, it was still fine. I do disagree with other Yelpers who state that they are inexpensive. I found it to be very much on the expensive side, BUT I am not complaining. They fixed my dress to my liking, and I am always willing to pay good money for a job well done...... and it was. I just feel it needs to be reported that they aren't that cheap, that's all. They did a lot to my dress, and it ended up costing me here a little more than double the amount from what I initially paid..... but again, it was worth the extra expense to have it the way I ultimately wanted. I would call upon this place in a heartbeat if I ever am in need of special alterations again. The only thing is, do not wait until the last minute. This is one busy place (because they are so good), so plan ahead and give them time to get your job done well !! read more

Unbelievable work. When i came in with my dress I thought I would just need a few small changes, but unfortunately my dress was a mess! The bottom was unevenly cut 3 inches longer on one side and the top was WAY too big. I also wanted sleeves made for my ceremony. I went in for my first fitting, and by the time i was back for my 2nd fitting i felt like it was a brand new dress. You could not tell where the alterations were made, he removed and reapplied all of the detail, and the bottom was absolutely perfect. I brought in fabric and he made my sleeves from scratch. I stood as he pinned it and then sewed it together while i was there, i left and when i came back for the finish product, it looked as if the sleeves were specifically made for that dress, not made as an additional piece. His prices were VERY Reasonable and quality of work is unbelievable. read more

I had a very positive experience with this tailor and his staff. He was kind, encouraging and thorough. I am an older, first-time bride and with age comes an aged figure... VIP made me feel just that - like a VIP and made the dress fit me as if it were custom made just for me.
