Viva Madrid is a great Spanish tapas restaurant hidden in the Claremont Village. When I say hidden, I mean hidden. You need to walk down a long hallway to find this gem. This place is perfect for a group dinner so you can share multiple tapas options. My favorite were the bacon wrapped dates... we had three orders and I am not ashamed lol! I also really liked the artichoke and skewered chicken. Next time I would skip the pan con tomate and the mojame.

What a fabulous night at Viva Madrid! We were a bit of a large party (birthday celebration ) with nine of us. We were accommodated readily and had no wait time as a phone call a few days ahead had been made and remembered. Even though reservations are not taken, they were set up for us and ready to get the dinner party started. This is wonderfully thoughtful service. Once in, our waitress explained that she could do partial group checks for four. That was also a thoughtful way to handle a larger group. It would have been awkward for us to split all of the variety of items on the receipt amongst us, being that we ordered so many different dishes. And wow! Did we order a lot of dishes! That's part of the fun of coming to Viva Madrid: there's such a wide variety of tapas and/or entrees to share. The more we tried, the more we wanted to continue to try! From the pitchers of both red and white sangrias, tapas, entrées, and desserts, we really made our way around the menu. Our delectable dishes came out little by little. And that's rather important here, as those small plates have a sneaky way of filling you up, with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. The pacing gave us an opportunity to enjoy each dish at a leisurely pace, while we chatted, laughed, and in general, got to enjoy the night in an unhurried and relaxed environment. Our plates were delicious! Such a variety of unique flavors that you wouldn't find in another kind of dining experience. Creamy, salty, aged, rich, spiced but not spicy, meaty, veggie, sautéed, simmered, roasted..... there's something here for every palate. Be open to the adventure! Our waitress and other staff that checked in on us were fantastic! Friendly, knowledgeable - incredibly talented at keeping all the numbers and dishes straight - and attentive to each guest. Which again, is appreciated when part of a larger group. When you come here, be prepared to spend some time. Bring someone whose company you enjoy, then sit back, relax in the ambience of Spain, and be taken care of as if you'd been invited to dine in someone's home.

Date night at Viva Madrid was a hit! Everything we tried was delicious. The oxtail soup was rich and flavorful, and the anchovies were a standout. Can't wait to come back and try more of their tapas. Highly recommend!

I was looking for a nice Valentine's Eve dinner spot with plenty of vegetarian options, and Viva Madrid immediately came to mind. This was actually my fourth time dining here, and I can't believe I'm only now writing a review. Located in the heart of Claremont inside an old building, the entrance almost feels like a little secret. You walk past what looks like a jewelry store before reaching the hostess stand. They don't take reservations, so definitely come early or be prepared to stroll around town while waiting to be seated. As soon as you walk in, you're welcomed by a dimly lit, intimate space that feels cozy without being overly quiet. The walls are decorated beautifully, and since it was Valentine's Day weekend, the restaurant was decked out in red hearts and balloons--like St. Valentine himself came through and spread love everywhere. Our server let us know that the main entrées take about 45 minutes to prepare, so we were advised to order those first. I went straight for the vegetarian paella. To start, we ordered the pan con tomate--simple sourdough toast with olive oil and tomato chutney, but absolutely delicious. My friend, who had just returned from Spain, lit up after the first bite and said it tasted just like what she had there. That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night. We also shared some potatoes and vegetables, and when the paella arrived, I added a side of pulpo (octopus) for extra protein. It was cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with the vegetarian paella. Every single dish we tried was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. We ended the evening with the limoncello cake, which was light, bright, and the perfect sweet finish. Overall, another fantastic experience at Viva Madrid. Consistently great food, a romantic atmosphere, and a place I'll happily keep coming back to.

this is a hidden jewl... from the outside you would never know it was even there! the inside is so adorable and homey feeling i love it, the staff is incredible. we always ask our server to pick their top 3 tapas items ( because the menus is very extensive ) and we order it and it's always delicious and they make a mean dirty martini too ;) it's always fun to try things you wouldn't normally order because it's tapas style which I love and then you can find new foods you like! deffinstley check this place out on your next date night . To find this place look for the jewelry stand on the sidewalk (they also have very pretty pieces) and walk down the little alley to find the restaurant

4.5 but I'll round up. My husband and I wanted to try something different for date night and stopped by. Staff was welcoming and explained the process on ordering. Food started coming out promptly and we really enjoyed the experience and our dinner. We had the chicken empanada, bacon wrapped dates, a few meat dishes, everything was super yummy. We will definitely be back!

Viva Madrid! is our favorite spot in Claremont. The food and drinks are delicious, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the ambiance is fun and relaxing. We love to order the meat paella which is scrumptious! The garlic shrimp, chicken empanadas and dates are our favorites. If you're in the area you've got to check our Viva!

Sometimes in life things get f*cked up. What matters is how you react when things get f*cked up. Viva Madrid! came highly recommended and I get why. The menu is pretty large with tons of great tapas options. We tried several of these and everything was delicious. Some of my favorites were Esparragos Con Jamon and Champinoes Rellenos. The food was fresh, everything was great. The service was also great. I think the gentleman who helped us was named Jared. He was kicking booty on a busy night making drinks and serving food. He also showed a real passion for the menu and took the time to explain various items. The ambiance of the place reminds me of Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a very fun vibe. So what went wrong? The paella was overcooked. I tried my best to eat it, but it was not edible. When I explained they were very understanding and apologetic. I assume the owner even came over and apologized and thanked us for not yelling. Look it was a bummer the paella was messed up but sometimes things don't go right. They made it right and getting angry on my end does no good. An interesting first experience at this establishment but that won't stop me from returning one day. Everything but the paella was great, staff is awesome and it's a cool vibe.

Spanish vibes all around, large menu, delicious Sangria, top notch service! "see pictures" everything we ordered was delicious, but our mistake that we made was ordering everything at once, make sure you order the tapas slowly and take your time. Highly recommended!

I finally made it to Viva Madrid. I have to say the waitress provided excellent service. I ordered me a mocktail because I was driving. I got the Refresco de Lavanda. It was tasty but the only issue was the glass was full to the rim with ice. I got about 4 oz of drink in a 12 oz glass, kinda disappointed. I started with a light tapas which consisted of manchego cheese and olives. A light snack before my meal. For my entree, I ordered the rib eye, but they call it the Bistec con Salsa Rioja. A big juicy piece of meat smothered in a wine reduction sauce. It was tasty and came with green beans and a baked potato topped with a creamy herb dressing. Very satisfying. The ambiance was perfect for a date night, small, dark, and dressed up with traditional Spanish ornaments. I'd like to come back and try some of more tapas as they have an extensive tapas menu.

Does anyone have the email address of Viva Madrid Claremont? I tried their website but the email button didn't work. I just need to communicate a concern about my to go order. Thank you!!!

Often I have luck reaching business owners through the business Instagram handle.

If you order a large order of takeout paella. Do they put them in a aluminum container for easy reheating? I plan to order 3. Thanks!

Yes they do. They are also very generous with the portions!

    Does this place take recervations?

Only for larger parties. i believe 5 minimum. Or just go stand in line before they open.

Did you guys move locations? I remember the entrance being in a hallway& now I see that it's facing the street?

    Same location

What is a typical wait time for a Friday night?

Hello Priscilla: It can range from no wait to about 40 minutes. If you come before 6:45 or after…

Are they open for business? 8/13/2020

How many people can this place accommodate? I'm considering having a dinner party here

i wouldn't recommend for more than a party of 6 very small/tight space, they take first come first served... no reservation

Any happy hour or weekday specials?

They have specialties from time to time, but not traditional happy hour discounts. Maybe a different kind of cocktail or food item. Excellent place though, with reasonable prices.

    Is there a corkage fee?

I believe not. I have seen many patrons bring in wine. I would assume if there was it would not…

    Is there live music?

    No live music

I had the opportunity to bring my dad and brother here while they were in town for the weekend, and from the moment we walked in, everything felt intentional. The restaurant was clean, open, and welcoming, with moody, elevated tones that created the perfect atmosphere for a memorable evening. A special thank you to our server, Brisa, who was absolutely wonderful throughout the night. Attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. Jonah, the manager, also stopped by to ensure everything was to our liking and even sent out complimentary empanadas for us to try, a thoughtful gesture that certainly did not go unnoticed. The food was exceptional. The charred octopus was phenomenal. I order octopus almost everywhere I go, and more often than not it falls short. Not here. The garlic butter shrimp were perfectly executed, and the paella was absolutely incredible, one of those dishes that kept everyone at the table going back for another bite. To drink, I started with the Besito de Fuego, which was balanced, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted, and we later enjoyed a bottle of Duckhorn that paired beautifully with the meal. Food can be great, but true hospitality is what makes an experience memorable. Top of The V delivered both and gave my family and me an evening we will be talking about for quite some time. Looking forward to returning.

We took advantage of the Friends and Family menu they provide on Mondays Only from 5:00 to closing. We sat at the beautiful bar and were watched over by Jacob. The wife had some special non-alcoholic drink that was very pretty and tasted great. I went with the VACA Tonic, an icy concoction made with gin. It was super refreshing and a nice way to start. This menu has selected tapas items that range in price from $8 to $19. We ordered the Pan Con Tomate ($8) which comes with sliced toasted bread slices, tomato pulp, a delicious olive oil and a side of sea salt. You take a piece of toast, squirt some of the olive oil on top, then pour on the tomato pulp. Light, tasty and delicious. Next up, the Patatas Bravas ($9). Perfectly roasted spicy potato cubes, slathered with tomato sauce and a garlic aioli. WOW! So simple yet so good. I licked the plate clean. Next up, the Bikini Sandwich ($9). Two small perfectly toasted cheesy sandwich wedges that have Iberico ham, manchego cheese and a hint of truffles. It was really delicious and the special ham was the star of the show. These are great starting items, yet surprisingly filling. I couldn't stop there though and wanted to order some of their famous paella. I decided on the Paella De Carne ($53). This is a meat paella with pork belly, chorizo, blood sausage, duck confit (a leg & thigh), beef cheek, with bomba rice and a garlic aioli. You have to wait about 20 minutes for them to make it but it's worth the wait. It was perfectly cooked and awash in flavor. The special paella pan they prepare the dish in looked well seasoned and I wished I could have taken it home. The menu is extensive with lots of choices to accommodate any palate. The restaurant is beautiful and has a front and back patio seating. If you have a choice, sit on the back patio. There is valet parking for $12, but there is a parking structure right across the street that provides easy access and is free with validation.

They have Spanish menu items, several tapas and main dishes. We got 4 wines and both loved with whites and reds! La bola (8.5/10)-the meat inside was delicious wasn't overly crispy, sauce on top was too much but a classed dish Pani puri (9/10)-interesting concept scallop was delicious and sauce was rich, shell was crispy Cauliflower (7/10)-bit too salty and rich but they give you a good portion Steak (7.5/10)-we asked for medium but it was more in medium rare, good quality but small for price Churro (9/10)-cant beat a piping hot churro with chocolate sauce portion not too large Our server was friendly and vibe was classy Would love to try the paella my next visit!

After not seeing each other for weeks upon weeks due to conflicts and being out of town, we decided…read morea date night was needed. We had been to this small quaint and beautiful little restaurant in Montrose before and wanted to try it again. We loved their little Spanish style courtyard, the tapas, paellas, and the setting felt so good for little date night after being away for so long. Unfortunately things did not go as planned. We made reservations for 7:15pm and were hardly even greeted by the hostess that seemed she'd rather be elsewhere then to welcome us to Casa Cordoba. Problem was though even after setting the reservation time and arriving exactly at 7:15pm we weren't seated for 15min even though we saw our table being cleaned and set and just sit there unoccupied for over 15min. So we waited. When we finally sat down...our server didn't come by for another 10-15min. But we were patient and we waited. Alvin finally came -- brought us water and opened the wine we brought. A special one for this type of occasion (corkage fee was $30). We ordered the paella with squid ink and seafood since it takes up to 45min to prepare and sat down to enjoy the wine and take in the setting. That night they had live music -- a guy on an acoustic guitar playing some cool songs, from Maroon 5 to Backstreet Boys on a 12 string...at least it was live. It was pleasant. The server didn't attend to us much and just had an air about him. Idk -- they may have been super busy but wasn't sure. Finally the paella came. It was...good. Not plentifully. 7-8mussels, a quarter of an octopus tentacles, and a couple of calamari. If you're thinking that much it and rice then you're right. It was mainly rice. No vegetables accompanying it but that's the dish. That was $57 for the small version. I've made paella before. It takes time and it's a production -- but at least at home I can make one for half that price for 8 people. Maybe that's why we don't go out so often bc it ends sometimes like this. We expect a nice meal, a welcoming host or hostess, a server who enjoys the food and atmosphere and makes us feel at home, and food that we could never prepare at home. It's suppose to be an experience that you are happy to pay for. This wasn't. We were disappointed and just felt like wanting to leave. The last straw was when I signed the check on a toast machine and asked for the printed copy. The server, Alvin just left the toast machine with us and left -- attending to others and leaving us with this machine. All I wanted at the end was a thank you for dining with us and the printed copy. We had to flag another server for that copy. He eventually came, with disdain written all over and just handed me the copy, as if I had taken his time to get my the receipt which I asked. That pretty much did it. I asked to speak with the manager and was told--"oh sure. I can get him--he's the chef, give me a minute." I was floored!! No wonder!!! The chef. The back of house manager is also the front of house manager!! That says a lot. You're front of house and your guests are not being taken care of? What kind of restaurant is this? With these prices? Regardless that was it. We left -- had some great ice cream and spoke about the whole experience all the way back home. Great date night eh? Not returning.

¡Olé, olé, olé, olé... olé... olé!…read more If you're looking for the perfect place to watch a soccer match, this is it. We came for the Mexico vs. Korea game and the energy inside was electric. The crowd, the excitement, and the overall atmosphere made it such a fun viewing party. The DJ really helped elevate the experience and kept the energy going all game long. It truly felt like the place to be for soccer fans. Food-wise, I definitely recommend the chicken quesadilla. Also, the mojitos downstairs were excellent--super refreshing and worth trying! Just note they weren't available at the viewing party on the 3rd floor. Overall, such a great spot for a game-day experience. We'll definitely be back, and next time we want to try more from the full restaurant menu.

If you want good paella, do not come here…read more This was honestly the worst paella I've ever had, which was really disappointing because the restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere and live music. We ordered a half seafood and half meat paella, with added lobster and pork belly. Unfortunately, the actual food was terrible. Main issues: * The bottom of the seafood side was completely black and burnt instead of having a crispy socarrat. There's a huge difference between crispy rice and burnt rice. * The lobster was severely overcooked, burnt, and tasted terrible. * The pork belly was an extra charge, but there was barely any visible pork belly in the dish. It honestly just looked like tiny bacon pieces. * All of the meat throughout the paella was severely overcooked. Positives: * Our waiter was very nice. * The ambiance was good. * The live music added a fun vibe. * It was my birthday, so they gave me a complimentary ice cream dessert at the end, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, none of that made up for how bad the paella itself was.
