Went in today after work to see if I could make an appointment soon and they accommodated me right on the spot! Super excited with my nails and will definitely be coming back! Super friendly and polite (I felt bad as I did not think they would be able to then and there and my nails/hands were not in the nicest condition) but I am beyond pleased with how she took all my worries (filing off too much/acrylics looking too thick/fake, and being too long or pointy) and gave me exactly what I wanted! I've been trying different nail places in almaden area, this was by far the worst one. Reason 1 - super strong chemical smell. It made me dizzy right away. I was hesitating to have my husband bring my 2 year old daughter in. Reason 2 - nail lady was super pushy. My nail technician was trying to get me to do extension. I told her all I want is natural clean looking. She then insisted me getting design on ring fingers. I felt like she's trying to up sell too much. Reason 3 - worst cuticle job ever. She did both hands in like a minute. I had to cut my own cuticles after I got home. And the gel polish was so poorly applied. Edges are really nasty looking. Reason 4 - lots cuts on fingers. I've got at least 4 cuts from her 1 minute cuticle job. Reason 5 - pricey! Most nail place in San Jose charge $25 for gel Menicure. This place $30 before tip. And I got a total of 1 mins hand massage after. Boo! Reason 6 - lady talking aggressively too much. Overall, will not going back again. I am so not happy about my Menicure . read more

I get my nails done here with my mom when I come to visit. This is her go to nail salon. There is never a wait because there are so many ladies that work there, which I love. This is the stereotypical "Asian salon," so you can expect there to be lots of speaking in a language you may not understand. They are sweet and will always greet you with a smile when you make eye contact. Besides this, the work itself is good. They are fast, but not always attentive to detail. I have left here multiple times with my nails shaped uneven/slanted, nail polish missing on the sides of my nails, and stubborn cuticles. If you are looking for a quick nail experience I'd say Viva Nails is a good fit for you, but don't be afraid to advocate for yourself- don't settle for imperfection when you are paying for their service. read more

I have never been so upset at a nail place. first my gf and i made appointments at 6pm. we got there like 6 minutes late and they had already moved on to the next customers. i guess its our fault we were late....my friend was started on first and i sat there until around 630 before someone ackknowledged me. i originally found this place on yelp and came in for the shellac because i took my set off and wanted to let my nails grow and heard so much about shellac. everything we wanted...they said no and suggested something else. it was so irritating. finally my lady came to work on me. i think her name is christine. (the manager) she was SO RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont know what her problem was but she was so mean. some lady behind me was making comments on how bad the shellac was and she was so unhappy. they made her soak her nails for like 20 minutes and it still wouldnt come off. my lady argued with her back and forth in front of everyone. who cares? do you need to fight with your customers and win? it was so weird. then she whispered to me and started talking smack about the women. red flag.... i know she did it about everyone else too in her language. then to the shellac.. i really wanted white shellac. she said no to me like 5 times and said it would look ugly. i continued to tell her what i wanted...if i am going to pay $24 on a mani i want the color i had my mind set on.,. she mixed the shellac brand with the gellish and the nails came out horrible. they were all wrinkled. after doing all my nails i asked her if it was doing this because she was mxing them. she yelled at me and said some rude comment and then said DO YOU GET IT? DO YOU GET IT? she said that to me like 10 times during my stay. after she had to file everything off my nails and start over she used the right product and it worked. she ended up add silver sparkles over the white because she still couldnt get over what i wanted. she made about 5 other very rude remarks to me but i dont have time to explain it all! oh and i asked about a message and she said she would do it at the end..because usually manis come with a massage. my friends nails didnt get soaked before the mani and at the end she didnt event get a massage so i asked my lady and then she asked the other lady something and they said oh ya she will get her massage..her nails are drying...drying? theyre gell. they dry under the light and she was way past that stage. so then the lady came to give my friend a massage since i had brought it up...my friend is so sweet and wouldnt have said something but since i knew they werent giving her the full treatment i mentioned it. anyways---do not go to this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was horrible. read more

So this place is under new management and my friends and I decided to check it out. I usually get my nails done at Vogue Nails in Willow Glen but this place is new and by my house so I thought I'd take advantage of the opening week 10% off. I think that they are a bit too pushy and it's an instant turn off for me. They were really disappointed that I wasn't interested in upgrading my pedicure and the pedicure that I got was supposed to include a massage but it didn't really include any kind of actual rubbing...they put some lotion on and rubbed it in but that was the extent of it. I did upgrade to the shellack but that was because I have been curious about it for some time and thought it would be a nice thing to check out. So far so good with this. They were really pushing me to get my eyebrows waxed...I had JUST gotten threaded so I refused. I did also get talked into a flower on my toes and they did a terrific job. In the long term I won't be spending this much on mani/pedi so I don't think that I will go here anymore. I don't think that it's worth the hassle of upsetting. read more

First time I got Shellac, and I loved it! They did an excellent job with my french tip manicure and pedicure. I also ventured out and got my eyebrows done, which turned out much better than I anticipated. The girls are pretty pushy on the upsell, but most nail places I've been to try to get you to at least get a little flower. Nice clean place and fancy massage chairs. Let me just start by saying I was very happy with the service I received at Viva Nails. The manicurists all seemed very kind and the two ladies who worked on my manicure and pedicure did a great job! The business location is very convenient if you live in the south San Jose area; they're located right across the parking lot from Trader Joe's and Carter's in The Almaden Plaza. Inside, it's clean and bright and well-lit. The chairs are comfortable and have cool multi-colored glass bowls. The music was relaxing and the atmosphere was good. Ok, so why do I rate it at 3-stars only? Well, when I was there I witnessed a costumer service issue that really bugged me. I was sitting there waiting for my polish to dry and I witnessed and overheard a situation with another customer that had me thinking twice. There was a mix-up of nail polish colors by one of the manicurists and when the lady was very upset (not so much with the fact that they messed up the color, but more that it was taking so long to get it fixed). The thing I don't agree with is how the staff managed the situation. They, of course, removed the wrong color and painted the correct one on. The lady was offered a slight discount for her troubles, but I think she should have gotten the manicure for free. Any business owner knows that the customer is always right, and if they truly care about the business they would have recognized how inconvenienced their customer was and would have comped their services. There were a few other people in the shop that witnessed this, including me. I am confident that the other people feel similarly. I probably won't be going here again based on their customer service and the fact that they aren't located near my home. read more

Love this place! The gentleman at the door is very sweet and always makes a point to bring you some water without even asking for it. This place has a good selection of only OPI and Essie nail polishes and they give you a menu before your service giving you detail on what you'll be getting and prices. I like that you actually pay the amount listed. Most of the time a service will be listed at $20 and I'll be told it's $25 or some random number but here you pay what is listed. I came in two days ago to get a refill on my gel nails. I went in around 4 and it was not very busy. Rather surprised since there's usually always people in there. Anyway, they took a while to ask what service I needed done, even though they clearly saw me come in. About 5 mins later I was asked to sit a desk and that someone would be with me shortly. I asked for the colors so that I could pick one out, but they said to wait for the girl was going to my service. I Said okay and patiently waited. Finally she arrived, and just asked to see my nails and called a girl over and I'm assuming they talked about how they looked. She thanked me for coming back and exclaiming what great of a job they did- howeverrrr, I had to tell them that they did not do that work on me. And they seemed very embarrassed. So I just told my manicurist I wanted to keep my almond shape and do gel. She was very quiet and didn't really try to talk to me. Finally towards the end I was finally allowed to see colors, picked one out and I swear she rushed despite it being empty. I was kind of upset that they let me leave the salon with a messed up nail. The ends on my nails had very little color, and only did two coats!? I was so confused. I don't think I will return here, it was $35 (w/out tip) for a gel refill that was truly half assed. Definitely will commute out to Red Berry next time for my refill, like usual ($23 refill). Just thought I'd give these guys a shot. Very clean though, and they kept a nice and tidy spots for people to put their belongings. read more

I started going to Viva in the fall for my pedi's I like the location-you can do Trader Joes, Costco, grab a starbucks and get your toes done. I have been pleased with the services and the pedi lasts for a long time. It is clean and updated and very bright. What I dont like is being asked to upgrade the service. It is very pushy and sometimes, you just want to get your toes looking good without the frills. I also feel the girls are rushed. Other than that-I have had good experieinces. read more

I still have not found a nail salon that I LOVE...if that's even possible. I ran around one Friday afternoon to 3 different salons trying to get a pedi quickly and no one was available. This was my last stop or I wouldn't have time. They had time and they seemed friendly enough...a lady came in w/ shellac and wanted it redone so I asked about it. I've never gotten it before and sounded interesting. So they talked me into doing it on my nails and doing french. I loved it the first time. I've been back about 6 times since and always gotten the shellac now. I did end up getting "something different" one time that I got talked into (french w/ hot pink) AND I hated it so I came in the very next morning and had her go over it with hot pink and no french tip but wasn't my first choice. I tip very very well so I know that they probably complain about me and my pickiness w/ my nails but they do what I ask in the end. Yes they always try to upsell to te shellac but that's their job, sales. And I don't like the fact that one person starts and they have someone else finish the job. I like to be iwht one person only. So I'm giving mixed reviews because I still go back there, only because I like the shellac and so far am happy with that part. It's not a super fancy salon and some of the girls are a little rude but in general they do a good job. The cost for shellac pedi is 47 I think and the nails are 27 or 32 if you get french. So it's a pricey mani-pedi but your pedi can last 4-5 weeks. read more

I have gone to many many salons and this one is really great! Not fancy but the girls are super nice and remember their customers. I have gotten a few pedis and brought my sister as well. I have 'oily' nail beds so I don't usually get manicures but they talked me into getting the shellac. I was reluctant because I had shellac done by a different salon and it came off in a week. They did such a fantastic job after listening to my needs and working extra on my nails, the shellac stayed on until I went back in for my next visit! This is my go to place for my pedicure. Cindy does a great job! This place is clean and they always sanitize everything. Cindy does an amazing job with pedicures and her massages are really nice too. Prices are higher these days but small businesses have to do what they can to make up for the huge loss during the last year during covid. When my cousin and I first stepped in, they were pretty packed, every pedicure seat were taken, everyone was at the tables getting a manicure as well... the wait is 15 minutes, or so they say, we didn't mind, we were going to walk around a bit to kill time, 15 minutes or not. He took our name and number down. No kidding about the call and 15 minutes later, right when we walked to their door, our phone rang. They were ready for us. The massage chair, I'm used to be knuckle-kneading equipment, but this had a lot more options. My back isn't in pain from a bad machine massage when leaving a pedicure for once. I got a pedicure with a flower design, I'm a sucker for pedicure upsells, she wanted to give me a manicure that I said no to, still traumatized from another nail salon for sanding my real nails down. So after a few suggestions, i finally said yes to a design. (Angie) according to her name tag did an excellent job and not making it one of the typical flower design leaving a nail salon. Also the relief of not having her yank on my cuticle with a cutter and bleeding as an even bigger plus. There's a few options for pedicure, a laminated sheet is handed to you when you walk in, and again when you're sitting down. I don't remember what it was but I chose option 2. LOL, I figure it's better than "basic" that is the No. 1 option. Legs feel rejuvenated with a scrubs, massage and oil.... interesting, An even bigger plus?!? It wasn't the usual gossip in another language while they're giving you a pedicure! If they're not conversating with us, they weren't gossiping in a foreign language! I mean yea, they spoke to one another, but it was more about what to design on our big toesies. We brought my niece in to get a little manicure too, being that is what she does with her mom for mom and me time, so she came with us. As well as the brother and cousin. The gentleman at the door who kindly took our name when we first walked in kept a good eye on our kids, mind you, we were watching them as well. But they treated our children like they were one of their own, or an actual paying customer. Gave them water, joked with them, cleaned up after them (they knocked down their cup of water on their table), and picked up their toys that kept dropping. They didn't do it with annoyance, they weren't bothered by it, and they had a smile on each time. I felt bad for them that our kids were a little more than a handful. They behaved as long as the could, they weren't bad, but after n hour, what 5-6 year old wouldn't start fidgeting? On top of that? They gave me a free manicure, my niece a free manicure too! The same gentleman said "no worry about the little girl" It's pricey, I was $30 for a pedicure, my cousin was $70 for her pedicure and shellac(?) manicure. It was well worth it. They took their time, they weren't rushing, and they made us feel comfortable when we flinched every time we felt that our children were being a tad on the bad side. We left $100 (minus tip) poorer, but we definitely felt pampered when we stepped out. ++ thanks, for not having the news on, but a concert granted it was a J.Lo concert, it was still better than watching news or horrible commercials. ++++ parking is bad in this parking lot, I suggest just parking wherever and just hoofing it there. Pick up a drink from Starbucks first if you'd like. It's not hot in there, but if you're parked in front of it, get a happy drink before getting your nails done. read more

Moms feet were a mess - she wouldn't let me touch them. No judgement from these folks. They treated her like a queen!!! I've been here twice on walk-in with my bestie. Love how professional they are. They communicate with and support each other well in serving us. Nice screen tv on the wall. Love that they have their names on matching aprons. I especially like that I can communicate well with them. The only things I wish were different: Their pedicure chair feet tubs-no bubbles. They're kept lined with plastic. When they exfoliate, we are expected to hold our foot up. They should maybe use bolsters to rest our foot at that height. She didn't even apologize. I told the manager and complained about the whole thing and all she could say was "I am sorry!" I have been coming here for years and now have my mom and friends coming here =) Something I love is that Christine and Vincent (owners) try so hard to make sure that they remember everyone's names. I think that personal touch is really awesome and shows that they want my business. Also, I rarely have an issue with my gel manicures chipping, especially when Nam does my nails =) All the girls here are super nice and always ask about my mom and son, I really appreciate it. I used to live close to Viva nails and then I moved to North San Jose and tried a few salons closer to my house, but I could not find the same quality of work so I drive to come here!! **Something that I have learned is that if you get a gel manicure and your color chips they will take full responsibility of their work and repaint your nails within 1 week. Also, they have over 100 colors and some colors are meant to go over acrylic and will chip fast if painted directly on your nail, I recommend looking for the Perfect Match or OPI colors so that you know the color will last** =) read more
