Very poor customer service! I was hung up on twice when calling the billings department. Also when I ordered the amazon echo and dot, I was told after the order was complete that the items were on "back order" and all the reps would say in later weeks was "oh it was shipped" . Vivint is leaving a lot to be desired.. and thats shameful considering the price of equipment. All i have is one simple desire (and its a common desire amongst people with security systems). I just want to be able to view all my cameras live at once on one monitor. With vivint I can only access the cameras if i am at the central hub in the kitchen or i sign into the app. What if i want to glance over at them from my bed? All at once on 1 screen? I am baffled that this is not an option. I have spent the last week since signing up, trying to stream them on my laptop with multiple windows (split screen style). Why is this so hard to accomplish? Am i missing something? Because i have asked vivint many times and noone can offer any suggestions. Im also disappointed that i only have short "clips" unless i pay 250.00 for a DVR. Today, we got new cameras installed because the original cameras were not working. Since they were under "warranty" there was to be no charge for the replacements. The technician asked my husband for a credit card because, as he stated, there needs to be a CC on file. I was already using my checking account. Well lo and behold, I was charged $315.14. Of course, when we called the company, the office/section that dealt with customer charges was closed. We will have to wait until tomorrow to get this straightened out. In the mean time $315.14 of my money is not available to me. This is so infuriating and left a bad taste in my mouth about this company. read more

All i can say is the representative was so professional, he out beat any home monitoring rep out there. He was courteous and very informative. Very non -pressuring, which I can appreciate while I am trying to figure out which service to use. I have not used the actual service, so not sure what customer service is like. Updates they push removes features, and completely stops the previously working equipment from working. When you call them and try to get help, they force you to go through routines you've already done yourself before calling them, and it still doesn't work. When that's all said and done, again, they claim it's your wifi/broadband, instead of admitting that thousands of other users are experiencing the same loss of functions because of their flawed updates/hardware. They will never take the blame, but will continue billing you, even after you "try" to cancel their shotty af service! STAY AWAY FROM VIVINT! They do not care about ANY of their customers. It pains me to even give Vivant one star. I could not warn potential clients if I didn't give them some rating. I called Vivant to have a security system installed, I was with another company and wanted to switch over. The other company technical services had become less than stellar. The Vivant technician came out evaluated the sensors on the windows and doors. Checked out the panel to ensure everything was compatible and the proceeded to show me that they were going to charge me over $2300.00, paid over 60 months, for the same equipment that was already installed in my house. The only additional equipment that would have been added was an outside camera. That was it, Vivant was not supplying any sensors on the windows/doors nor motion sensors / cameras in the house. Needless to say I told them I would not be signing a 60 month contract and they could leave. Several days later I received a call from a Vivant Sales Rep asking what they could do to get my business. When I asked why they were going to charge me for existing equipment installed in my house she hung up on me. I was warned not to do business with that company but I had no idea how corrupt this company really is. read more

IF ANY ONE HAS VIVINT BEWARE!!!! This is by far the worst company We have ever dealt with. We've had their system for a year and they've come out to fix their panel probably once a month. Always saying our system was "outdated" ...Their customer service is an absolute joke you're going to be on hold for about 30 to 45 minutes depending on what you're doing ... and if they feel that they cannot solve your issue for some reason you're going to be disconnected. Magically! Them having all your information they don't call you back. We had to go into a legal situation to get our contract terminated, for they wanted to charge us $400 to disconnect the service that was never provided correctly. They finally terminated our contract and this incompetent company shuts off the wrong account. Really, how is this company in business ??When I call to fix the problem I was on hold for 45 minutes I talk to three "supposedly" supervisors and a Gina Fowl, which was completely rude talking to me like if I was too stupid to understand what she was saying. Transferred me to a Taylor Jensen after waiting 45 minutes and then I was magically hung up on or disconnected or something voodoo happened!!! Magically the call dropped ... beware of this compAny ... Due to my experience I do not recommend this company for anything... this company does not provide any service that they say that they're going to provide. They charge you for random false alarms that NEVER happened... I do not recommend this system at all. Cameras are always going out and needing to be reset. Doorbell camera does not work probably and does not detect someone approaching your door. Have had multiple techs come out and try to repair and no one seems to be able to get it repaired properly. Only thing that works good is the alarm. Vivint has reached a new level of low! Avoid this company at all cost! Their customer service is the worst I have experienced! Once they lock you into a 3 or 4 year contract, they don't care about you at all! We recently moved into a new house and have been waiting for a month to get our service and equipment re-connected! We have had 3 install appointments that were not completed (which means 3 days of work missed!)...due to either incompetence or lack of communication. The tech who removed our old out door camera from our old house took it with him, and the installer could not install a new one without approval (for some reason this could not be resolved on the day of our install appointment...we had to call and be put on hold for 30 minutes, then get transferred 3 different times and tell our story 3 times before it could be resolved, and another appointment made). So the day of our 2nd scheduled install arrives...and the tech who comes out cannot complete the install this time because the first tech who came and assessed our home neglected to put in the notes an important fact that required a special part to be ordered (lack of communication! ) So, again, another day missed from work and no alarm system installed. This tech asked me if the following Wednesday would work for me to reschedule and told me he would set it all up and call me later to let me know. He called later and told me it was all set up. So, the following Wednesday, I'm waiting around all day. I finally call Vivint, and am told that the appointment was requested but not confirmed! Great! Thanks for letting ME know! So we rescheduled again for almost a week later. This time, on the morning of my scheduled install, I get an email cancelling my appointment because the tech was sick! Really? Another day taken off from work and still no alarm system! More phone calls, being put on hold, transferred...blah blah blah...and another appointment scheduled! This time my husband is the one who called to reschedule and he is upset because, this time, he ALSO took the day off from work, to make sure everything was done properly. Needless to say, at this point we are both understandably disgruntled! About 10 minutes after my husband hangs up with Vivint after rescheduling our appointment again, I get a phone call from a Vivint representative, calling to schedule our appointment. I informed the rep that my husband already took care of it, and went on to explain that we really hoped they would show up this time and complete the job, because of all the inconvenience we had experienced. There was a lot of noise in the background on the reps end...clapping and cheering and laughing...it sounded like they were having a party! Very unprofessional. Then, instead of the rep empathizing with our plight or apologizing, or even offering some assurance that they even care about our experience at all, he informed me that I was being rude and that he would cancel my appointment if I continued to be rude. What??? I then asked for his name, which he refused to give me. When I asked for his name, he condescendingly asked me "Would you like me to cancel your appointment? I have warned you.", to which I simply replied "No. I want to keep my appointment and I would like your name". Again, he did not give me his name. Instead, his response was "I warned you...now I'm cancelling your appointment " and he hung up!!! Unbelievable! So, back on the phone to make another appointment, and also try to speak with someone about the rude employee. After once again being put on hold and waiting quite some time (as you will usually do whenever calling Vivint), and explaining my whole story to yet another employee, I am, once again, informed that I must be transferred to another department, but the employee assures me that I will not have to tell my story again. He tells me that he will explain the situation to whoever is taking over the phone call. Again, I am put on hold for a very long time, only to discover that I have been transferred to the wrong extension...someone answering the phone asks me for my badge number!!! Great! They can't help me, and the helpful person who transferred me and offered to explain my story to the next person is no longer on the line! Tired of that whole game, I resort to email to save my sanity (besides, my phones battery is nearly dead now!) I get a cookie cutter greeting and a promise of a follow up appointment. They must be really busy because a couple of hours later, still no appointment. Funny thing is, I was going to purchase additional equipment from them, until this fiasco took place. Instead, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and seeing what, if anything, I can do to get out of the rest of my contract. read more

I was completely happy with my service until their equipment sent out a false alarm and I was charged a ridiculous fee. They require you to be on Autopay, however they don't tell you when they are going to charge extra for additional fees. So, I didn't know I was going to be charged a fee until it came out of my bank account (which apparently takes 3 months for them to actually bill, since the "false alarm" supposedly happened in Sept, and I wasn't billed until Jan) When I contact customer service, they can't tell me much, nor can they dispute it, I have to send in a letter of explanation asking for them to review my information. What they can tell me is that they called a phone number that I've never heard of or had, and they aren't sure who/how/why my actual number was removed. I send in my letter, after 3 days I get a "sorry, we can't refund you because we can't find anything wrong." Really? OBVIOUSLY you won't find anything because your system shows that the alarm went off. BUT IT DIDN'T GO OFF IN MY HOUSE. And if it did go off in my house, NO CALL WAS EVER MADE. For the amount of money that you pay for this service, and for the "service" that you get, you are better off going to a place that you pay less for. Which is what I'm going to do. do not sign up with vivint, period, dash, dot. i have had nothing but problems with their equipment and phone applications. once locked into their contract, vivint keeps charging for a service which never works. they were over-charging me for several months on my monthly contract payment. vivint also charged me for service calls, which i had to have removed from my credit card. further, vivint's answer to my problem is buy out the whole contract?? in other words, pay them for a service they are not providing. no solution at all for me or any other consumer. as to service appointments... vivint does not call to inform you that they are not coming. this has happened to me several times. do not sign with vivint. read more

We LOVE Vivint! I will say it definitely takes some trial and error, but the support we've received has been over the top amazing. I would highly recommend Lee Barber. As a Sales Manager my husband and I felt like he was able to not only give us the best deal possible, but was extremely knowledgeable and honest about only selling us the products we needed. We had an issue with our air conditioner which we thought was related to Vivint. Not knowing if it was Vivint's fault or merely a coincidence, Lee made a call, and literally within an hour a repairman was at our door to fix the issue. Turns out it was just our air conditioner failing and nothing to do with Vivint - but jeez - how cool of Lee to take care of us like that. All around we completely love Vivint and feel so much safer with all the ways it notifies us if doors are left unlocked, if our garage was left open, if our doorbell rang, etc etc. DO NOT let bad reviews stop you from at least calling and talking to Lee. I almost made that same mistake! Thank you to Vivint and to Lee for this amazing system. We love love love it! read more

Unfortunately, I have to share with you the terrible experience that I have had with Vivint Smart Home recently. I contacted your team in the summer of 2016 to have the account transferred from my ex-husband's name to my name. That was a very stressful process and nothing seemed to go right. They sent a tech out and the tech wasn't even sure why he had to be there for that. But he had me sign a "contract" that he gave me a pink copy of and told me I was all set. Fast forward almost a year and I call your team because my camera and door locks were no longer syncing to my app. I also opened up my app and it stated "Duress". I call and was told that I was in the middle of an account takeover. I advised them that the takeover was completed almost a year ago and was told that it was never completed. I was also told that I sent a "Duress" signal from my app at 1:00am the day prior. I asked why no one contacted me or sent emergency response to check on me and I was told that it was because I was in the middle of an account takeover. Really? What a liability! When I need you the most, you're not there? I then spoke with a woman in the "Takeovers" department who was extremely rude. She said that I am not even a customer with you so she couldn't speak to me. And that my contract is up on May 31, so I may cancel at that time. If I'm not a customer, why would I have to cancel when I can just quit paying? And why are you taking my money each month? I pointed out to her that your company allowed me to change the verbal passcode almost a year ago, so why would they do so if I was not a customer. She huffed at me so I asked to speak with a Supervisor. Bayron Alvarez advised me that the takeover was not done properly and that he would have to send a tech out to complete the takeover. I explained to him that I needed access to my door locks from my app for Saturday as I had maids that would be coming while I was out. He agreed to send a tech out Friday afternoon. I also asked him about getting the equipment upgraded to the new "Sky box" and about an offer I had just received to lower my bill to $34.99 per month. Bayron advised me that the new equipment costs anywhere from $99-$199. I asked if he would be able to do anything for me considering the takeover was never completed and he stated he could give me the equipment for $199. I questioned this pointing out that that is the maximum price he just quoted me, and he said "yes, but you'd be getting the lower rate too." He then said he could do $99. I told him just to send the tech out and I would not be renewing my contract at this time. The tech arrives at 2:30pm on Friday. He goes through inspecting the box and sending signals to take care of the takeover. The tech moves on to trying to get my door locks and camera to sync to my app, the whole time complaining that he is allergic to my cat. At 5:20pm (almost 3 hours later) he tells me he has to leave because his eye is bothering him too much and he will have to reschedule another tech on another day to resolve the equipment issues. I email Bayron asking if he can do anything to waive the $99 since I took a half of a day off of work, and now have to have another tech come out again (for the third time). He emails me back stating, "Yes that $99 can be waived." I ask him to call me and have yet to hear back from him! I called today, Monday May 2, and ask to speak with Bayron. Bayron is unavailable so I ask the woman in "Takeovers" just to confirm that the takeover portion has been completed. To my astonishment, the takeover has still NOT been completed. She advised me that they do have to send out another tech - for the third time)! I was transferred to another Supervisor, Alex Boone, who looked over my notes. I asked why I have to have another tech come out and he said they have to check the equipment and send test signals. I advised him that this was done on Friday, and that I have a copy of the signed PSA. I also advised him that Bayron told me that as a gesture of goodwill, Bayron did state that he would waive the $99 for the equipment so I wanted that installed if I had to have another visit from a tech. He advised me that he cannot do that and could ONLY waive a $99 activation fee. I asked him to speak with his Manager and he told me that they have no way of receiving inbound calls. I told him that that cannot be true as they have a phone on their desk and a cell phone in their pocket. I asked him if he could give me the contact information for a Manager and Alex Boone told me that he was the highest person I could speak with. I asked him for his title and she stated he was a Supervisor. I questioned why a Manager would not be willing to speak with me and he stated that "it is not their job to speak with customers." Really? Your mid-level Managers refuse to speak with customers? This is absolutely the worst service I can remember ever receiving from a company. read more

This company tries to strong arm you into doing business with them. The first time the sales person came by, he made it sound like he was with ADT and wanted to upgrade my current system. I have had ADT for 10 years. He couldn't produce any ID showing he worked for ADT so I ran him off. The same sales guy came back 2 weeks later trying the same thing and saying my system is outdated and I have to upgrade through them, that they work with ADT. Again, I ran him off knowing that this company has nothing to do with ADT. A few days ago he came back and I told him I already told you to leave me alone and I'm not interested. He told me that someone from my house sent them an email requesting information. I asked to see the email and he said corporate has it. I never sent an email and told him to leave me alone, and that I am filing a complaint with the company. You shouldn't have to tell someone 3 times you are not interested. Plus, be honest and say you are selling a different security system instead of trying a scam and saying you work with ADT. read more

I'm going to give them a 3 star to try to be fair. Talking to Vivint seems like talking to different companies. I am a new customer and a few months later, one of my sensor was defective. I contacted Customer care and they gave me an option to either send a guy in there or they will just mail me a new sensor and give instructions on how to install it. I told them to send a guy out. The guy (I think his name was John), was great. He replaced it and said that he would not charge me because I was a new customer and they should've detected the sensor defect when they first did the install. Everything was great. A week later, I got a new sensor in the mail. I contacted Customer Care and told me it was their error. I told them if they send me a self addressed box I would mail it back to them so I won't get charged. Customer Care told me that I could just keep it and I would not be charged. A month later, I got two weird voicemails from Jean NV. It was their billing department charging me for $60.00 for the sensor they mailed. I had to explain to them what happened - I talked to Customer care about this issue. Apparently, their Customer Care system do not communicate with they Billing System. So no matter how much notes Customer Care put in their system, Billing Department cannot read them. So they still charged. Vivint has great people but their whole system is antiquated and inefficient and the good people of Vivint are suffering from this system flaw. Sad. read more

The worst possible security system. I had Vivint instal a system in my home around Nov.29,2017. I have had problems shortly after that. The system was over $1,000.00 to install even thought they advertise FREE equipment and installation. (just a gimmick) My friend who referred me to them NEVER received his referral fee. The cameras go offline whenever they want.The salesman said he would show up after his vacation on Jan. 2, 2018 I NEVER heard from him (probably out selling this worthless system) Just a note save your money and go to Cox or ADT. I've had nothing but problems with this alarm system Half the time it can't find my wifi (funny, my tvs and computers don't seem to have that problem), it keeps announcing that someone is at the front door and no one is there (do I have ghosts?) but the latest is the worst. When I first got the system, I kept forgetting to turn it off. I guess this one time I was a few seconds too late, and they dispatched a guard. I was told in Las Vegas the police don't initially show up, just the guard. And it took him 40 minutes to get here. I asked about his response time, and he said, "Oh, we have an hour to get here." An hour. Does anyone see anything wrong with this? I asked how he proposed to investigate the premises, and he said, "I walk around the house, looking for broken glass or an open door, and then I call the police." I pointed out that he could not walk around the house: there's a brick wall attaching my house to the one next to it on one side, and a locked gate and another brick wall on the other. To which he said, "I'll jump over the wall." I further told him that, if he shows up an hour after the alarm has gone off, I could be lying in a pool of blood, dying because he couldn't see anything, or else everything I owned would be long gone. An hour? Any self-respecting burglar would be gone in under 10 minutes if he wanted the entire contents of the house. Their security: worthless. So, the monitoring folks, getting no answer, dispatch the security guard (a euphemism if I ever heard one) who wanders over an hour later. But I signed a contract and I'm stuck for some time. If I get murdered, I will haunt Vivint through eternity! read more

I went with Vivint because I was familiar with the company in a positive way. Now I am familiar with it as an absolute negative. While the product may be great; they sold, installed, and charged me for service that NEVER worked because of cell service issues. Many techs, many calls, an alarm that couldn't be cleared. Convinced me to stick with 6 months not being charged for service but paying for equipment. They couldn't even get through one month of that successfully. Credits never went through and if they did, they charged double the next month. They took my equipment out almost a month ago and I am still waiting for credit while they continue to charge for the equipment. Check the BB reviews on them. I sure wish I had. Now I get to file complaints with everyone and prepare to hire an attorney. This company is deceitful and lacks the ability to effectively manage their business both through employee training and empowerment and ethical operations. Disappointed and angered by the whole experience. And as far as the comment by Vivint, I have spoken to over 15 people at Vivint thus far with NO resolution. read more

I absolutely do not recommend this security service. Their equipment is faulty at best and completely inoperable at worst. The doorbell camera installation also caused some cracks in the stucco, and on top of that, the installer tried to sell me leggings for his wife's "business" (I say business because it's Lularoe). Back to the equipment, though. In less than 2 years we've had technicians come out at least 5 times. Did I mention YOU have to pay for a technician to come out? Yes, it's THEIR faulty equipment that continuously fails and the customer has to fork over $50 every time it happens on top of the monthly fee (for our package, it's $60ish). It's absolutely ridiculous how many equipment failures there have been in such a short time. If I wasn't locked into contract for a couple more years and if terminating the contract wouldn't cost me over 1K, I would have ended things with Vivint a long time ago. I would just invest in a really good home security system with push notifications enabled--ESPECIALLY for the price you're paying. Just imagine: I'm paying $60 a month and locked into a 4 year contract. If I didn't have Vivint, that'd be an extra 3K I could throw down on some reliable equipment. read more

I signed for this service about two years ago, after contacting them by phone. Talked with agent and thought that it was kind of expensive, so he decided to offer me a two years contract of just monitoring and equipment. The service seems to be okay, until you let them know, that you won't renew the contract (that I thought was for two years), per original conversation with agent. Was going to move and I didn't want to continue service, so then rep. told me that if I wanted to cancel contract, I needed to pay for the rest of the service, which was for 42 months, for an amount of close to $1000, instead of the 24 months that I thought it was. You don't have a copy of the contract when you okay the service, but they would tell you to check the contract on line, and then you will see the reality. Mine was for 42 months. Anyway, I didn't want to pay the $1000.00, so I agreed to move the service to the new address. Agent told me that they would give me a discount an installation, for being a veteran. Yesterday, my bank account was charged $150.00 for the installation, when it should have been of less than $100.00 (monthly payment and installation). Tried to get the bill for the website, to take look at the individual charges, and was unable to do so. After I loggin, didn't find a way to see my statements, and following instructions, I did not get any help. I'm computer literate and tried every way possible, to get to the area where I could get the statements and was unsuccessful. Tried to chat with someone on site, and waited for quiet a few minutes, without any success at all. Very dissapointing and I would not recommend this company to anybody. You are better off by buying from another security company. They are very tricky and not helpful at all. After I get out of this contract, I would get rid of them, like a hot potato. read more

So, as a security company they can't really deliver on "security". Pretty pathetic. The reset password functionality would not work with mine, or my wife's emails. I simply needed to activate a code for a visitor that already existed, something I can't do via mobile by the way. There were two significant issues. The first is that I had to get redirected to Alarm.com to login to my vivint.com account. I could not access it, or reset mine or my wife's passwords via YOUR website. My existing password worked fine on Alarm.com. I still now, cannot log in via your site directly. Really? I know you are just a skin of Alarm.com but how does that look to a customer. I can't log into the site I pay every month, but into a different one. Your customer service rep told me that it was fine. How is this ok as part of your customer journey? If you can't keep your website straight, how can you possibly manage millions of homes alarm system. I do not understand how this could be acceptable to your customer service team, and certainly not company management. read more

Upon installation we were told that the equipment (control console, locks, cameras, doorbell) would stay in the home and that they would provide new equipment upon reinstallation. We were told that they do this because it will be easier for them to sign new customers with the equipment already in the home that is left behind. We were also told that we would be allowed one move free of charge. Now my family and I are moving from the home we are in and we are not only being charged $99.99 for them to move equipment, but now we will have a large hole in our wall where the control center is placed and where the camera doorbell is placed. We rent, and I would have never agreed to the terms of the contract had they been explained correctly to me. I would have NEVER signed a contract knowing that there will be a large hole in the wall when I left. Also, my wife and I were both under the impression that we signed a 3yr contract and apparently it was a 3.5yr contract. I feel like this is a bait and switch company. This is the WORST security company I have ever used. I have had this system for almost 2 years and it may have actually worked correctly for 3 months total. The cameras NEVER work when you want/need them to and the automated door look runs through batteries (6 total) every month. I have been locked out of my house on many occasions because of this door lock. Customer Service is horrible and never willing to help with the problem. I call to complain and they don't actually record the complaint because when I call back my last complaint do not show. Technicians that come to the house are usually very nice and friendly...the only good I have to say about this company. The system will get fixed and work while they are there and for a few days after they leave but then we will be back to the same problems. You sign a 60 month contract and then when you try to disconnect early because the system don't work they charge you thousands of dollars...I was told it would cost me $2583.00 to get out early. You know what....it's almost worth playing the money to get out of this contract. I am active duty Air Force and have moved around a lot and used a lot of security companies and by far this is the worst. I would give zero stars but it's not an option. Choose another company like Cox Whole Home or any other company for that matter. Run Run Run Away.... read more

Love my system. Reasonable rates, lots of choices on devises, even used some previous equipment. Works with my dog, and all controlled with my phone. Highly recommend. read more
