Excellent equipment. When it works, the quality is great. When you have an issue, it's a 45 minute plus phone call to trouble shoot before they send out a technician, unless you want to pay $49.00 for someone to come to your house. Nightmare. They have a great sales team and a horrible customer service team. Lots of promises. Then things stop working. I can no longer watch video playbacks on my system. I have called and called and called...they don't care. I have had this system for 3 years now! Sensors go bad every other month! System does not work. I had to remove the nest from the app. I asked for a reduction in price? They said the nest part is free! Half of my sensors are not even live in the system and app. Every time I call, they say uninstall and re-install the app! REALLY! that's all you got? After I told the salesperson I wasn't ready to commit for 5 years and that he did a great job as a salesman he stated "I'm only a good salesman if and when I complete a sale and feed my family" WARNING they do require a 50 deposit as well, it's been over 30 days since I cancelled and have not received deposit back (disclaimer states within the 30) . Battery warning for panel came on in Sep 2021 in Oct it wasn't working, called Vivint they said they would send out a new battery pack and small door sensor that fell off too. By Nov still hadn't received it, called they said it was coming, by Dec 5th they said they didn't know what happened, sent another one, by end of Dec still nothing they said they sent it to the wrong state and address??? Sent another, end of Jan 21 nada, customer service said they sent it it's on its way to Cali again. All this was after they implied they had no record of these calls at first. Keep all your emails log every call. This is the worst company I've dealt with, C.S is awful, polite but terrible. I am on the phone now 2 hrs and I have no faith in this non-security company. I will admit I had a few hiccups getting started with Vivint. That was one year ago, we were replacing an aging ADT system. We selected the Vivint system because the technology seems like it was the most current available. Those hiccups eventually got fixed, and since then I've had a number of occasions where I needed to contact Vivint for different reasons and I have to say that their customer service had been nothing short of outstanding! We were doing some remodeling and had to have Vivint out again and like the last couple of times they were just really excellent to work with in scheduling, responsiveness, and the quality of the work... not to mention that their technicians are really cheerful and a pleasure to work with! I was very critical of them at first but I have to say that they made everything right and in the end we really enjoy using the system. read more

Our air stopped working a few days ago and I spent a long time chatting with customer service the other day and they were unable to help me. They had me jumping through hoops. They were asking me to take the thermostat off the wall and unhook wires and twist them and turn off breakers and I don't think customers should have to deal with that. That seems like a lot to ask of customers. Especially when its a smart home and its not your smart home and you have no idea what you are turning on or off. After that I asked the maintenance guy to come out and look at it and he was able to turn it on from the thermostat but not the main panel. It turns on then turns off and does not stay on. He said the thermostat was not communicating with the main panel. You would think that Vivint could handle this from their end and re-boot the system. I called again today to see if I could get someone to come out and Jay who is a guy that I have spoken to before told me he was going to charge me $49 to send a technician out which is insane! Why would I pay them to fix a problem that is coming from their end. Jay is out of his mind! The last thing I want to do is waste more time jumping through more hoops. Jay put me on hold then hung up on me. I called the manager at our main office and they sent an email to have someone come out. What is Vivint's problem with sending their technician's out to help customers? Westcorp owns a lot of properties so Vivint gets a lot of business from them. My suggestion to Vivint would be stop putting customers through this horrible experience and fix your equipment yourself and stop asking us to do it for you. read more

I am so frustrated with this system. I am always having trouble with my doorbell and my hearing and air conditioning system. Right now I'm sitting in my home freezing. For whatever reason every time I set my thermostat to a certain temperature it never reaches it. I've called customer service multiple times and they adjusted the settings several times and I continue to have the same problems. In the winter my heat doesn't work and in the summer my air don't work accordingly. As for the doorbell it always conveniently stops working when I'm out of town. I'm tired of this! read more

Worked for Vivint for 5 years and was terminated for using the word "shady" in an email to my supervisor to describe the ongoing actions of representatives cancelling other reps sales and rescheduling them into their own name to steal the commission. No accountability for wrongdoers or any action ever taken except to those who speak up for what's right instead of their 'shut up and do what your told' management. Vivint employs drug addicts, skin heads, people who drink on the job/phones while working at home, and really just all around shady people working for them and getting shadier every day with their lack of standards. Zero accountability. Was told to lie to customers by upper management in regards to offers available to customers (if cx only wanted a lower bill we would have to transfer to customer loyalty dept to perform, but was told do not transfer or offer this option unless they want to cancel. Was Not Allowed to inform cx of the option to keep their current equipment and sign up for another contract to just get lower monthly.) Constantly pushed to basically convince cx to spend more by upgrading instead of what would be best for them. In my 15+ years in the workforce, I've never met shadier colleagues than my time working with vivint. And then I'm the one who was terminated for trying to do the right thing. 10/10 would not recommend the product or their employment at this point. Now I'm told they are outsourcing even more than before to other countries 'because they are bilingual'.... ooooookayyy... @ToddPederson I met you on the beach in Punta Cana and was star struck, but it's obvious you basically gave up on Vivint at this point. This is the most GARBAGE security system ever! DO NOT PURCHASE. We have had it for almost 6 months and it rarely ever works! Customer service is horrible. They have sent technicians out here, all with new explanations as to why it doesn't work- and they still can't fix it! We have even spent an additional 400$ upgrading our wireless connection in our home (un necessarily) to still not have it work! Had service with Vivint for 5 years. Their salesmen lied to get us to switch from Monitronics (promising the latest upgrades and equipment)...which never happened. Constant problems with our control panel, which was switched out with the "latest" model (a two year old model...problems continued). Cancelling the service has been a nightmare. They continued to take money out of our bank account for 2 months AFTER cancelling (numerous phone calls and emails later..cancelled March 15... now on June 7 it is supposed to be resolved...AND we were sent a bill for June as well!!!!). All lies and headaches. We'll trust our home security to our pit bull and German Shepard. This system is terrible.They told me they had armed guards but I found out they third party the guards and they are just observe and report.Canceled before my 72 hours were up after doing more research. **Updated due to Vivint response. There is a no response policy for Las Vegas police. Your sales rep made a point to make me aware of it and sell me a system that "responds where the police do not" ... unfortunately they lied when told me they don't use third party responders. UPDATE: After a half hour on hold to talk to "Customer Loyalty" (it really should have a different name) I am still in the same spot. This company does not take accountability at all and does nothing to make things right. Their is a reason they already had one lawsuit against them... I sure hope another is not far behind. Their customer service is a joke and can't even get their own information right. Their response after giving me wrong information on being able to cancel their service - "I apologize for the miscommunication from our side. Terrible Security Service!!! I bought an expensive home security set up and service from Vivint and paid up front rather than get locked into a six year (yes that's correct - six year) contract. The system was completely undependable and had a nasty habit of crashing. The cameras wouldn't work, internet connectivity with the system was intermittent at best, phantom alarms were common, etc... However worst of all was their customer service. Many hour I spent with my phone pressed against my ear standing at our control panel trying to trouble shoot the failed system. This went on for more than six months until one night the system crashed and I again called Vivint customer service and asked them to please send a technician to our house with in the next week. They told me that a technician visit (my first) would cost $49. Moreover, they once again TOLD me to stand in front of my Vivint control panel with the phone pressed against my ear so they could walk me through the fix process. I informed them that my family, including several young children were asleep and I wasn't about to wake them. They "promised me" that if I called them and we talked we wouldn't wake my children. How the heck can a Vivint customer service person sitting at call center who-knows-where in the world "promise me" that my talking will not wake my kids?! If I could leave no stars I could. They came to my work place, and one of their workers while doing an assessment for the price made me and my co worker feel extremely uncomfortable. After they set the camera and security system, we tried to cancel. The alarm system would go off even though we turned it off and we realized we no longer wanted this security system. We tried to cancel a few days after we had it installed in November but STILL NO ONE HAS COME TO UNINSTALL THEM. We have set up FOUR appointments with them to come and uninstall this security system and they have not shown up once. They have even said that they were on their way, but still never showed up. Extremely unprofessional and terrible customer service. My boss signed the papers to cancel to get our full refund, but he can't get it because they refuse to come and uninstall. Shop around people. They signed me up for five years! Equipment was great however that is a long contract.The customer service was flawless. I ended my service though. After five years I thought the loyalty program would lower my rate. I had a basic set up, thermostats, a panel, two motion sensors, and glass break. Mind you I had no upgraded equipment offered to me since 2013! With the price I was locked into you would think I would have automatic locking doors or a camera. Signed contract on 2014 by young scam artist from Vivint. He said I can cancel anytime I want. Called Vivint to cancel because I had to move to Las Vegas in 2016. The rep. said I have 4years of contract. Instead of cancellation they offer me to move account with $99 move fee. I followed all direction(moving option #2) and paid move fee$99. The service tech Carson Stander came in hooked up my old devices taken from old house. He asked me to sign a receipt for service and move fee. Be careful here, Carson Stander said this is only paper he has at that time and he wrote down on the paper 'move fee already taken'. So I signed without doubt. I asked them to cancel my account 2018 again. Guess what, They said the paper I signed was my new contract for another 60 months. I asked the Rep. What is my benefits if I sign new contract? She said I could lower the monthly rate from $79 to $69 from new contract. I checked my bank account it was a total BS. I paid $69 from the beginning. If it was a new contract they should not charge move fee and install new equipment. It's on vivint's move policy. They took all advantage of me and gave me extra 60 month contract. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE VIVINT!!!! Absolute garbage. No wonder they have terrible reviews. 1 star is too generous. They are only about making money and could care less about their customers. They only want to up sell you on what you need. I called them to move my service to a new location. All I wanted was a move and same equipment moved from old location to new location. They told me I can have new equipment installed at no additional charge if I was willing to extend my contract. I specifically asked them if there was additional charge for the new equipment because I wasn't interested in paying for more. They told me that there was no additional charges. Why would I want new equipment if it wasn't needed and the old equipment worked fine ? Now I have a $1500.00 charge on a line of credit that they set up and it's on my credit report. I've been on the phone several times with them to rectify and the last call was nearly two hours long. I'm still waiting for a call back from their supervisor to further try to get this matter dealt with All I want is the equipment returned and my old equipment installed in my new location. read more

After reinstalling my system Vivint failed to update my phone number and during a false alarm obviously couldn't contact me and dispatched a guard to my house. After I contacted them and informed them of their error they said they would cancel the charge because it was their fault. The sales representative totally misrepresented Vivint's policy on cancelling the contract at the time of installation. This misrepresentation was supported by statements on their website regarding "extenuating circumstances". I am 17 months into a 60 month contract. My house got robbed. Vivant camera did not catch images of the thieves putting tape over the front door camera. Not one clip or image was able to be retrieved. (Not Even an image of them putting the tape over the camera. ) They took everything. They even ripped the security system out of the wall. The first officers to arrive at the scene were the officers I personally called. 5 mins later or so, vivant arrived with an armed officer they called. This camera constantly catches images of leaves and cars driving by and alerts my phone. What happened when I needed them the most? DO NOT USE VIVANT. I was given a new panel by technician but the new panel didn't have an update they came out a month ago on the new panel. VIVINT ARE YOU LISTENING and ARE YOU SEEING THIS? Do I need to contact consumer affairs, the media, continue to post my issues to let the public know, do I need to call the Better Business Bureau? I will continue to advise the public on the HORRIBLE SYSTEM! Get your technicians trained to know what they're doing! The CSR who saw my account history was shocked and the customer relations is only allowed to give me a $15 freaking credit. Was given a 30 day free trial for which I was charged from day one- I cancelled before the 30 days was up - and ended up paying for 3 months worth - I finally was able to get through to customer service (30 minute wait) - and as of today, I am told they will refund me in 3 days- we'll see. I also told them I didn't have a smart phone etc- and couldn't use all the features but was charged anyway. In the time span of one week I had 4 false alarms which is why I cancelled. I have called Vivint Security numerous times about home security system. Panel never works updates takes forever. I just came home and went to my panel to turn security off. I tried at the panel. It wouldn't let me. System was updating again. Anyone could've robbed my house as alarm should have went off. No one from Vivint called me to check on alarm. I called them and was told it needed to reboot. So as I said I could've been walking in my house to an intruder. I do not feel safe with this security system. It states in there contract you have 3 days to cancel the service, if you don't you are stuck with there 5 year contract For a home security system it is terrible the cameras constantly go down and there is delay in the cameras recording, sometimes they dont even record at all. The installer was about an hour late, but he called multiple times to let me know his status. The installer was quick and answered all questions fully. He made sure to ask exactly what I wanted before he started drilling or doing any other work. Service fee is about average. Contract length is 3.5 years. I suppose other companies are the same way, but I don't like that there isn't an early termination fee; you have to complete the contract in full. They will advertise no "installation" fees, yet they will charge an "activation" fee. I have a special situation where I want to monitor a door on my phone app as to when it was open or closed, but I didn't want the door associated with the alarm. I was told by the installer and multiple customer service reps that this was possible. It is possible, but everytime I set the alarm I have to go through the menu to bypass the door. I'd like it to be automatically bypassed. The phone app is really easy to use and very convenient. read more

No thanks been there done that. If you are thinking of going with vivint save yourself some time and headache and just tie a string around your house with some cans on it. Customer services is TERRIBLE. They give you the run around, no one can solve anything! You cannot resolve anything over the phone, it's all by email which they take days to respond and they do not care at all about customer satisfaction. The supervisors are useless. DO NOT BUY. When we went to cancel the response was' "It's going to cost you so much money to cancel." Clearly they trap a lot of people with their contracts. I will say the man that installed it was great but every other experience has been terrible. Every time the alarm went off we were charged 55 dollars which they refuse to refund because it was the charge for someone coming to "check" the property.
