I was hesitant to continue to go here, but after speaking with Tony about my vehicle issue, he made me feel immediately comfortable and gave me pricing that still beats anyone else out there. Tony kept me informed throughout the entire process and made sure I knew exactly what was going on. He even delivered a day earlier than he expected the work to be done. From years of experience and moving around, I know it is a challenge finding an honest and reliable mechanic. My biggest fear is that I will get ripped off by someone because I don't know, what I don't know. Vo Auto Services and Tony and Team puts those fears to rest. My mom's rental car had a jarring noise after hitting a speed bump, we determined that the aluminum housing around the muffler had been knocked loose. I yelped nearest mechanic that was open and went to Vo's. He did not hesitate to help us jacked the car up on the lift and tighten the nuts around the housing. He was kind enough to do it for free even though he had to move some cars in his shop around to accommodate us! If I ever need an honest mechanic in San Jose, I would go here. read more

I did not have any work done by Vo but I did bring in a vehicle i wanted to buy for an inspection. When i got there Vo was dealing with some customers that seemed to be extremely happy with the service they received. Vo also seemed like a very nice man just from watching with customers for 5 minutes. Vo proceeds to check out the car, and even leaves his shop to test drive it with us. He drive it around for about 7 minutes and tells us everything that is good and bad. He even gave us a ballpark on how much the repairs would cost at a typical shop. (he knew we were not having it repaired there.) He also told us what fair market value of the car was. ALL FOR FREE! Very friendly Excellent service. Good man. read more

Best experience ever with an auto-mechanic!!! This place was honest, affordable, and fast!! If I could give them 10 stars, I would! I had an issue that the dealership quoted me up to $1,000 and over a week to fix. These guys not only came to my location to help me get my car started so I could drive it to their shop, but they replaced my starter in under 90 minutes. I needed a mechanic to examine a used car I was interested in purchasing. Seeing good reviews about VO, I called ahead and they explained that they could do it - a visual check and road test in about 75 minutes. They did a complete check and provided good insights regarding things that should be addressed with the car. I appreciated their overall candor and clarity that they would not be liable if there were issues with the car. My car was undriveable due to a bad repair job at a different auto shop. My car had to be towed, and Vo Auto took my car in on a Saturday without any advance notice. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it at considerably less cost than they initially quoted me. They even showed me the underside of the car while it was up on the rack. They fix d my car right, and the cost was more than reasonable. Very happy to find an honest auto shop. read more

Recently moved to San Jose. I am very glad to have found Vo Auto Service. I took my car for a manufacturer recommended regular check up/service and met Hai. He explained every thing that needed to be checked as per the regular maintenance call for the model. And, listed out everything very clearly before hand. Quotation was very reasonable and he did all work within the said price. Also, advised me of the items that I need to be aware of for the near future maintenance of the car. Took mine and my husbands car here today 1 hour before closing for oil changes and they gladly did the job. The work was great and they even did a tire rotation (my car really needed it) and put air on all tires on my husbands car. They were very friendly and did such a great job on our cars. Most honest auto guy I have ever been too. Worked on my car for half a day. Issue was one that could only be handled by the dealer because of special tools. Would have been more expensive for Vo's to buy tools and repair. Did not charge me anything. Not even a mark up on parts he purchased. Straight shooter. read more

I have done business with Vo for many years .He is one of the more honest mechanic I know . If he gives you his word you can count on it . I have visited him with small problem and as much as he has time he takes care of it right away . Sometimes at no cost because he is good to his repeat customers. Been taking my Lexus to the previous owner Vo for years. Hai took over and thought would give it a try. He is much more expensive than Vo, but I didn't want to go through finding another mechanic, and Vo was awesome, so decided to try him out. My Lexus was shaking in the front when I braked, so I took it in and was told the front brakes needed changing. I took it back a few weeks later to get work done. After service, I leave his place and guess what..... Car still shaking!!! I look at the paperwork and he had changed the rear brakes and rotors! I took the car back and he says that the rear brakes and rotors needed to be changed and the front brakes looked ok - so he changed the rear. Upon asking why he didn't check the front rotors after seeing the front brakes are ok- to see why the front was shaking-he said they don't do that- even though the chief complaint was shaking during braking in the front, seems like someone dropped the ball! So now he says I need the front rotors changed, and the brakes- even though they are fine. When I ask him for a discount due to the circumstances- he says they work on very small margins and he cannot offer. He was about $100 more expensive than a few other places I called. Maybe I just got unlucky with him- but he would rather lose a longtime customer than to work with me in the price. read more

I've been doing business with Vo for several years. He's done all the work on my two Toyota Avalons during that time. I think his prices are reasonable, and his quality is good. He has a clean, well-organized shop. He's usually available to talk on the phone about problems, and he gets things done quickly. For example, this morning (a Saturday), I called about 8:30, talked to him about a problem with my 1996 Avalon, and then brought it in about 9:30. He had his mechanic (who occasionally broke into song in Vietnamese) put the car on a lift within 5 minutes after my arrival, and we then talked about what might be done about a small leak of power steering fluid. I decided not to do the repair, which would have cost more than $500, because we felt that it was not a safety issue. I then asked if he could change the oil in the car, and he had the mechanic do it within about 10 minutes, charging $30. He's a nice guy and easy to talk to. He seems sincere and credible. Addendum: on another recent visit, Vo and his mechanic did two things that I questioned: 1) he tried very hard to persuade me that I should use expensive synthetic motor oil ($7 per quart) for an oil change in my new Hyundai. I called Hyundai, and they told me that they recommend regular oil and have not tested synthetic oil in their cars. I don't suspect him of trying to gouge me; he really seemed seriously concerned about trying to protect my new engine. Later, I read on the Internet that, if anything, synthetic oil is recommended for older engines, whereas new engines do better with regular oil. 2) His mechanic repaired a tire puncture and rotated my tires. When I got home, I found that all of the tires had been inflated to 38#, whereas 33# is recommended, and I had inflated them all to 33# the day before. Over-inflated tires could be a safety issue, and of course the recommended inflation pressure is written on the driver's door frame. So they don't exactly walk on water over there. I will still continue to go to Vo for my car service needs, but I'll be more cautious about accepting his advice. read more

I don't know why people give this shop any credit when it doesn't deserve it. The owner charged estimate fee. The shop kept my car for 6 days diagnosis, yet they gave wrong symptom and he only spend 3 hours on my car for $165. When I called he didn't find the problem for six days.To make the matter worse, he gave u his guessed symptoms and estimate total cost to fix. He stated to replace the door actuators and I told him. They had been replaced by the dealer because of the recall. He kept on insist his finding symptoms and also had a nerve to say bring the car back if the problem still persist. Don't bring your car here if u don't want to get rob like me. Vo auto is the Worse auto shop I have never been. read more

I'd been taking my 94 Toyota p/u there for about 10 years and had been fairly pleased with Vo's work. But, when I recently brought it in with a shift-transmission problem, I was shocked when he told me to buy a new car and wouldn't even check out the problem. Come to find out, it was a worn out $20 gear gasket that should or could have been replaced when Vo put in a new clutch two years earlier. I guess he doesn't like working on old vehicles so I guess I won't be bringing him any more of my business in the future. read more

Great service and very reasonable. I've used this mechanic twice now an have been very happy with the level of service and the price. I recently had my brakes fixed and everything was done same day. There is a shopping center near by so while your car is in the shop you can browse the shops or grab something to eat. read more
