The interior of this restaurant is quite unique. There is a projector constantly looping waves crashing on the floor. I didn't have an issue, but a friend of ours got dizzy looking at it. Not a really nice place, but decent. If this had been the first restaurant that I went to that did the Steam Pot seafood I would have been more impressed, as it is, there are 3 almost identical restaurants in a two mile radius (Pier 88 [I think] and Juicy Crab). Volcano has really good hush puppies as an appetizer for about $4. The corn is cooked to perfection in the steam bag (not mushy at all), the sauce and such is kind of salty (which I like, the wife does not). My biggest problem is it does nothing to stand out. I probably won't go back unless the other 2 places are really busy. It's worth a shot, it's just underwhelming. read more

I'm mad at myself for not taking pictures of our food because my husband ordered the fried rice and the presentation on that was really unique and pretty. I just ordered the snow crab plate so mine wasn't pretty, just arrived in a bag but the flavors were AMAZING! There is another restaurant near this one that serves things in a very similar manner (I won't be naming names as this review is not for them) but in comparison (really the two restaurants are too similar not to) our meals here focused more on the flavor and freshness of the seafood and were not as salty. Also both my husband and I deal with some allergies when it comes to preservatives in our foods so we can always tell AFTER if the ingredients were fresh or not (I'd like to say we can taste it but neither of us have that type of refined palettes) and neither of us experienced the usual side effects from this dinner. I really hate a fishy flavor in my crab legs because I am not a fish person and I did not experience that here at all, the meat was fresh and delicious. And the portions, oh wow the portions were PLENTY! Neither my husband or I could finish our meals and even discussed how we could have shared. The prices are pretty fair for seafood but obviously it's not cheap....if you find cheap seafood it's not going to be good! Last but not least our waitress Ingrid was so very delightful and helpful and rounded out our experience perfectly. 4 stars rating: I only gave one less star because I will always do this if you have hand dryers in the bathrooms, these are NOT sanitary. Every bathroom has poop particles in the air and those are sucked into this machine and then blown directly onto your freshly washed hands leaving you with more bacteria on your hands than if you had washed them directly in the toilet which is so gross, please provide paper towels in the bathrooms. read more

This was our first time eating at the remarkable restaurant and I will definitely go back every chance I get. I had the fried shrimp and catfish platter and we had calamari for an appetizer. The food was so delicious, fresh & hot right out of the kitchen. The environment was so relaxing and fun, but the best part of our visit was our waitress whose name was V. She was so friendly and so much fun. She knew the menu well and gave us some great recommendations. When we left she even gave us hugs and wished us Happy Mother's Day!! We weren't impressed. It was very nice inside. Loved the water effects. The onion rings not so good. I like the flour battered and this seemed to be the cornmeal pre-frozen variety. My husband didn't like his fries either. Also, it is priced a bit too high. You can get a "two for" combo but they charge you full price individually for each according to our server. Nearby you can do that and they just cut the number in the serving so you still get the same number of seafood, just less of each to make the total. I hope I am explaining that understandably. You pay the price of whichever seafood is higher. As an example I would be paying maybe $12.99, instead of $25. Needless to say I didn't order it. Not sure about going back. The Dining Divas went to lunch at Volcano Crab Wednesday May 12th. There were 8 of us and we were seated immediately as there was only three other customers in the restaurant. Our server was Venice. Mama always said if you can't say anything good don't say anything at all. I am following my mama's advice today. Wow!! We came in late tonight primarily because it was across the street from our hotel and after a lengthy car trip wanted to just walk and get some food and drinks. We had to get takeout because it was late, but we were able to get beers while we waited for our food. The place has a really fun beachy vibe and a huge screen showing Sunday Night Football. Jasmine and Ashley were so sweet, accommodating and friendly with great food recommendations. The scallops (appetizer) were to die for, and the talapia with Cajun fries were yummy too. The prices were very reasonable too! We're here for 4 days and will definitely be going back to "dine in" during regular hours and try the recommended Dungeness crab!! THANKS! Just for the record, I'm reviewing the FOOD, not the atmosphere, because I would rather have really good food and a bad atmosphere than bad food. The food was great. We had the shrimp boil with corn and potatoes. Everything was fresh and seasoned and cooked perfectly. VERY tasty. Decent selection of beer...had the shock top which is great with shrimp boil. On the atmosphere...we almost left immediately due to the loud rap music. Apparently different individuals choose the music and the waitress said it's not always annoying. Walking in, I instantly got confused on the theme of the restaurant. Is this a seafood joint or a spaceship? You are greeted in the vestibule by a talking robot with twinkling fiber optic lights dangling from the ceiling - cool if this was a space ship ride but not what I want at a seafood restaurant. Similar fiber optic lights were found over the bar, yet the wall partitions and most of the rest of the interior made you think of a pirate-y/under the Ocean Florida seafood restaurant. Volcano, PLEASE pick one theme or the other and stick with it. You would have had 5 stars had it not been for that oddness Every staff member we encountered was courterous, informed, and customer service focused. That gets an A+. Food was all market priced and technically prepared well. My date and myself were impressed with how quickly hot and fresh food came out after ordering (this was also 6 PM on a Saturday night, the restaurant was at least 60% full). We had an appetizer of hushpuppies, which were simple but good. I ordered a combo of scallops and shrimp, steamed in the bag. Portion sizes were a little on the small side, but still properly prepared and flavored well. Overall, I would come back and try something different. I ordered some hibachi from Uber for my fiancé and I. Of course you have to have white sauce for hibachi or it's just not right. I called the store to even ask if they had some before I ordered and made sure to put for white sauce under special request. Of course when it got delivered there wasn't any. Also, I ordered a Hennessy margarita and when I asked for a second one was told they ran out of sweet and sour. The shrimp bag boil didn't have much flavor at all. Went there for the first time this afternoon for really late lunch/early dinner. Ordered combo meal for the two of us with 1/2# Crab Legs, 1/2# of Shrimp, 1/2# of Sausage, ordered extra potatoes and corn. Got mild Cajun seasoning. I asked to see Christina the manager and she basically said I am sorry but I can't watch everyone and we have been here all day. She is the manager. I like this place and I like Christina but saying she can't manage everyone when that many was not wearing a mask. No excuse We are in a mask mandate and for a restaurant not to wear one is just not the way to do business. I know a lot of you are against mask and so be it. The scenery is pretty cool. The huge projection tv at the bar is not so much. It lacks clarity and I'd prefer a few smaller ones to have a variety of viewing options. I've been here a few times for lunch and always get the boil. It's not bad... Every time I go I've noticed that the bartender does not seem very welcoming and loves to chit chat with the hostess and other employees/vendors versus the customers. The food was ok. Our service wasn't great. Ingrid took a while to come and take our order even though the restaurant was empty. We ordered drinks and she didn't know what they had nor did she make an effort to go find out what kind of whisky they had until we asked her to go. We asked for drinks (beer and a double shot), shots, an appetizer, and the family meal (the most expensive things on the menu). She came back a while later and said they didn't have the shot. My gf's beer came at the same time as our appetizer which was unacceptable since we ordered drinks first (the bar was empty as well). She then came back and said that they didn't have crown Apple which we should've been told much sooner so I could've ordered something different. Another server actually came and asked if everything was ok and bought us utensils to eat with and went to the bar and asked for my drink and came back within a minute. Our server was eating and talking to people and wasn't attentive. Meanwhile the other server came and took care of us. I was very disappointed and consider myself to be very patient since I've worked in the service industry for years. There's no reason why the service shouldn't be 100% when you're 1/3 people in the restaurant with two servers. read more
