It was my first time trying Yangnyum sauce and it was ADDICTING! The sauce was sweet and spicy. The kind of spicy that leaves a light burning sensation on your lips if left there but for some reason you can't stop eating it! The half order consisted of a mix of hot wings and drumsticks. I also tried the garlic chicken but did not like it as much. I could not taste the garlic. The kimchi fried rice gave a sour taste. I wasn't sure if the kimchi was spoiled or that's their style of kimchi? The japchae was meh. read more

I've been wanting to try Von's Chicken for a long time. I decided to call and order some fried chicken for takeout. The ordering process was easy. When you call in your order, it'll take about 20-25 minutes for the order to be ready. The order was ready on time. Staff was wearing masks and there was hand sanitizer when you walk in. We ordered the Crispy Fried Chicken (combo which had drumsticks, wings and thighs) without any sauce. The skin was perfectly crispy and well seasoned. The chicken was tasty and moist. Loved it! Big generous portions that can feed up to 4 people. Definitely worth the price! Lots of free parking in the plaza. It's located by Big Lots. I was craving korean fried chicken. I've been to the Vons in Concord couple times before and it wasn't bad. I noticed the menu has slight variation between the Concord and Dublin location. Concord only has 2 spiciness level - mild or spicy but I like that the Dublin location has an inbetween. I phoned in my order wings - the crispy wings and the yang nyum wings. I got medium for the crispy wings with the garlic soy glaza and mild for the yang nyum. I phoned it in and the lady was prompt and courteous in taking my order. She said it'll take 15 minutes. I arrived there in 15 minutes and my order was ready, so service is efficient and I can tell they're working as fast as they can. When I came home, I tried the wings. I like that they kept the box open so the deep fried wings won't get soggy. I did like the wings a lot - I like the crispy one with the soy glaze more than the yang nyum. It was pretty good. I went online to compare prices for the Concord and Dublin location, I am not really sure why Dublin cost slightly more but that's why I removed 1 star from this review for the pricing or else, I think I would have given it 4 stars. Overall, not too bad - this location is pretty new, so there's no Vons sign on the building but it's near to Kmart and this used to be the location of another Korean BBQ place. I was over charged by almost $10, after I questioned the amount, she didn't bother to go over the items with me she stayed quite and instead of giving me an itemized bill she gave me the one with the total cost. I know she understood what I was referring to. 2. How do you price 5 pieces of drumsticks for $17? That's insane! And it wasn't even flavorful, I had to add sauce myself. 3. Half doesn't mean what you'd think, wings (10) is half compared to drumstick (5), why not just have the same count across the board and change the prices instead? 4. The japchae was flavorless 5. Sweet potato fries were most likely previously frozen and they deep fried them. Not good. 6. The kimchi fried rice was also flavorless. I finished errand nearby and decided to order lunch from this place. Conveniently placed my order on phone. 10 minutes later I showed up at the restaurant then picked up & drove home. The chicken was still pipping hot and crispy. Crunchy skin was like Popeyes but had a personal touch on seasoning. Seasoning seems a little short. I had tried garlic and honey butter. I couldn't really tell the difference because the flavors were lacking. Honey flavors was sprinkle powder, not real liquidity honey. The oven chicken (Ssam) wasn't available. Very good korean style fried chicken. I got the Crispy Fried Chicken (half size) and Yangneum Chicken (half size). Both were solid with large, full-sized chicken legs, not like the little hot wing size drumettes you get at the more traditional wings places. When you call to make your order, they will ask you if you want legs, wings, or a combo. I thought this was a nice touch. I also got a side order of Kimchi Fried Rice. Not bad, but nothing too special and didn't taste too fresh. Our order came with 2 complimentary containers each of the korean radish and coleslaw. Both are tasty, but served in condiment sized containers. I had to pay an extra $2 to get 2 more each of the radish and coleslaw. I called ahead and the food was ready 25 min later as promised. This is in the same location as the previous AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant next to Big Lots in Dublin. When you enter, there is a cart where you can ring the bell to notify the staff that you've arrived. Someone will come and use a squarecard reader to charge you. Only one group inside the building at a time since the waiting area is kind of small. Seemed busy when I was there with a line forming outside for more pickup orders. A little on the pricier side, but I was ovesatisfied with my meal. read more

Tried Vons before at another location, and I thought they were just Ok, but this place is way better. The chicken is crunchy and very flavorful. Just so you know when you drive up it looks a little different. Von's is doing business out of a Korean restaurant that has been in that strip mall for years. They just put up a temporary sign in the front. Not sure if the other business is still running and they are sharing the space. We got a full order of Yang Nyum boneless chicken, a full order of crispy soy garlic fried chicken, kimchi fried rice, japchae, and honey butter French fries. The Yang Nyum chicken was medium heat and was on the spicy side. It comes in mild, medium and hot. The medium is pretty spicy and leaves a slight burn in your mouth so unless you really like heat get the medium or mild. The soy garlic chicken was mild so it was a good blend of some spicy chicken and some medium hot. All of the chicken was really good. Everything we got was really good except for the honey butter French fries. I would probably pass on that next time. They also give you pickled daikon and Cole slaw with the order. This review is based off a DoorDash order. Unfortunately,DoorDash decision to group 6 orders resulted in an 1h45min delivery from pickup (we live about 15 mins away). Food arrived soggy and cold, which we heated in the oven. The rice cakes come in a prepackaged white square box; sauce was tasty - the rice cakes were hard and tough to chew. The tornado potato role visually looked great, though the skins were overcooked and not enough potato on the skewer to make it have any substance. Fried chicken was the highlight. Alway crowded and busy with waits for food pickup, Von's has brought Korean chicken to the area. Having only experienced this location as takeout during the pandemic, Von's provides decent chicken at a decent price. Ordering is simple either online or via phone (also recommended to avoid waiting there). They have baked/cooked and fried options that come in different variations and sizes. Come for the lunch special. I love the crunch fried (which has a longer wait time) and the mild soy garlic. The real garlic is also tasty as well. Their sweet potato fries are always nice and crispy and are actually a waffle shape. The regular fries are okay. Disappointed they got rid of the coleslaw and so they only serve radish now. My husband and I tried Von's in Hawaii, and it was quite possibly the BEST fried chicken we've ever had! So we were so excited to find out that there was one less than 10 minutes from us. We decided to try the boneless garlic and boneless honey butter chicken, as well as the kimchi fried rice and japchae. The chicken was crispy, but not as crispy as we remembered it to be. The honey butter chicken was interesting..lol the flavor reminded me of waffles. It was good but I can see how it can be a bit overwhelming if that's the only flavor you order. But luckily we got the garlic too, which perfectly balanced out the honey butter. The japchae was soft and flavorful, with lots of veggies. Can't personally comment on the kimchi fried rice, that was for the hubs. We ordered half orders of the chicken and had leftovers. Overall the food was good, and I'll be back to try their other menu items. We placed a phone order and the food was ready within 10 minutes, which was perfect because I was HUNGRY! Lol. However, I will say that the woman taking phone orders was so rude. This was our first time ordering from here, and I think I'll just order online from now on. When we were placing our order, we asked for boneless wings, to which she rudely replied, "well you're saying 'boneless' and 'wings', so what do you want? Do you want boneless or wings?" Just the way it was phrased and her tone of voice rubbed me the wrong way. Ok so I get "boneless wings" aren't technically "wings", but that's a thing people say (ie wingstop). LOUSIEST SERVICE. Joanne was very unprofessional and rude. When we got our order, i was checking to see if we got everything inside the bag and asked if the sides were inside. She hurriedly said yes but when we got out to eat in the car, we found no radish and coleslaw so I went back to get them. I'll never forget how she ROLLED HER EYES and said it's right there even if there's none. So I said I can show you evidence that there's none and showed her my receipt and about to get the empty bag. She went back to the kitchen obviously complaining in her native language to her coworker in the cashier and blamed her which caused a scene. The cashier girl said, "that's impossible. It's right there!" Looking at me as if I'm lying. Found Dublin Vons by accident, cause we'd been going to the one in Concord and OMG we're excited. Korean Fried Chicken....maybe the only better is from auntie's house where she prepares brown paper bag fried chicken and greens. They have Crispy, Crunchy, Fried with spicy sauce and oven roasted chicken. You can't go wrong. I go for the crunchy and the Crispy Yang-nyum (spicy sauce) and it's DELICIOUS! Add the pickled radish to clear your palate then head to the kimchi fried rice and finally the japchae. So much goodness... Enjoy! read more

I've briefly heard of the name Vons but never had it before. I found out that conveniently there's one in my area so I had to try it! I ordered takeout and the order was ready sooner than expected. It was easy to pick up and the staff was friendly! Cripsy Yang-nyum Chicken: This was SAUCY in the best way. I got medium spice which honestly wasn't that spicy, but the sauce itself tasted so flavorful. It had a slight kick and was a little tangy and sweet. Definitely delicious and something I'd order again. Crispy Fried Honey Butter Chicken: I've never had honey butter as a flavor but I really enjoyed this! It's slightly on the sweeter side so be ready for that, but it works so well with the chicken! Honey Butter Fries: These were definitely a favorite for me! Sweet, yet savory. I found these SO addicting and kept eating them and coming back to them. I'd highly recommend you to try this. I'm a huge fried chicken lover so I was excited to try Vons Chicken in Dublin. I've been to Vons before, but this was my first time at this location and was surprised to find out that it's also a kbbq restaurant. I'm not sure how the kbbq worked (ayce or not) but my party came for the chicken so we didn't feel the need to inquire about that. Because it was also a kbbq restaurant, they had other korean dishes on their menu more than the usual selection at other Vons restaurants which we took advantage of. When we arrived, we were told that the wait was going to be about 30 minutes which was fine. They called when the table was available so we could go to the nearby Daiso across the street. After being seated, we ordered a full order of the crispy yangnyum chicken, bibim naengmyeon, and mul naengmyeon. The latter two noodle dishes are not usually on the Vons menu so it was nice we were able to order these here. The fried chicken came out first and it tasted good. The skin still had that crispy texture even though it was coated in sauce. The sauce was decently spicy, tangy, and sweet which was enjoyable. It should be noted we got medium spicy out of the mild, medium, and hot spicy options. The cold noodle dishes came out later and we thought they tasted really good. Because the chicken was slightly spicy, especially when you eat a good amount of it, the cold buckwheat noodles provided a nice refreshing bite to your hot mouth. Also, the noodle portions are pretty large. Ultimately, I thought our meal was great. The fried chicken tasted good, we were able to order other Korean dishes because they combined the chicken restaurant with a kbbq restaurant, and the staff was friendly. Service was a bit slow, unfortunately. After getting our chicken, our noodles did not come out until another 20 minutes at least. We also had to remind them of our soju order. Despite that, I would love to come back to eat some fried chicken and have a couple drinks with friends. read more

The Von's restaurant in Castro Valley recently moved to Hayward and will open on July 4th. This Von's restaurant in Dublin is really convenient for us. Lots of parking and the service and food is pretty good. The menu is slightly different from that of the Castro Valley restaurant. Please look at the restaurant's menu on Yelp and call to confirm. The receptionist is very kind and courteous. The KFC is really good for the price!! I give this location 4 stars but will need to try the other items on their menu for possible 5 stars. I have ordered Vons Chicken lunch special a few times since they opened in December 2020. I get the Crispy Chicken Mild Wings luncheon special. The first two or three times I ordered this, the wings were very good. However, today I ordered this on a Friday and the wings were crispy, but they tasted like regular fried chicken, but not like Korean fired chicken. They were bland and I was disappointed. I think that the wings depend on which person cooks them. Today's wings did not hit the mark for me. I love the wings at the Concord and Hayward locations, but both of these restaurants are a 20 minute drive versus a 10 minute drive. Easy ordering and social distancing paying makes me a happy COVID customer. This place takes over what used to be a Korean BBQ place that had to change its business strategy due to COVID. So it became a Vons Chicken instead! The chicken is so delicious, that's really what makes this chain as a whole stand out. Why am I reviewing this one? It's the closest to me, but there's many more in the Fremont/Milpitas region. I always order the YangNyeom (sp?) and the Crispy Fried Chicken, boneless. I love that I can just fork it and not get my fingers dirty but still have that great slickness, and the amazing crunch from the Crispy Fried chicken. WOW this place is AMAZING! Hands down the best Korean Fried Chicken place in the area. I have no idea how they fry their Chicken, but it's amazing how it doesn't feel or taste greasy like other places, it's just all flavor!
