My girlfriend and I had lunch here yesterday, and it was a solid go! The food was tasty, and the staff was friendly! My gf had been to a Von's before, and had raved about the experience. She said she loved the original crispy, but we wanted to try a few of their other sauces. She tried the garlic, and I tried the spicy seasoned. Both had a lot of flavor! They were sweeter than we expected, which was great for my spicy, so-so for the garlic. Maybe it was expectation, but we both thought it was a smidge sweeter than we'd like, and would've liked more of the garlicky savory flavor to punch through. It was good though, just not as expected. The wait to get the food was weird. Since it seems to be sauce over the base-crispy chicken, we found it strange there was such a wait between our plates coming out; hers came out some 5+ minutes after mine, as if they can only cook a half-batch at a time. I'm not sure what the circumstances, but it was unusual, not a deal-breaker, but whether poor planning or some unexpected mistake, it's room for improvement. Lastly, it's a small shop. They have 3 tables with 2 seats each, and they do respect social distancing. The parking is a bit tight and kind of confusing, but a decent amount of stalls. Not always enough for them and their neighbors, but with such a central and convenient location, is there ever enough parking? LoL. All-in-all, a solid spot with room for improvement! So I've read a lot of good reviews on this chain and have been wanting to try this chicken. Today I had some time and drove by this location, so decided to stop in. I am so glad I did!! This location has a tiny, less than ideal parking lot, but don't let that deter you... the chicken is absolutely WORTH IT! I got my order to go, but they have a couple small tables of you want to dine in. Probably wouldn't work for a large group though, so keep that in mind. I tried a half order of the crispy garlic chicken and it was delicious! Sometimes sauced chicken gets soggy quickly, but not in this case. The chicken was really crispy and the garlic sauce was tasty. It also didn't have that raw garlic bitterness that some garlic dishes have. It's also made to order, so you wait a few minutes, but it's super hot abs fresh. If you like chicken, I definitely recommend Von's! I'll have to try some of the other locations too... read more

Does anyone else enjoy the YouTube show "Hot Ones" where celebrities are interviewed while eating hot wings from least to most spiciest? Every time I watch an episode, I can't help but want to challenge myself with some spicy wings! My go to for wings is Von's chicken because they are fried to perfection! I believe the secret to good Korean fried chicken is that their batter is light and the chicken is fried TWICE at a lower temp which makes the skin ultra crispy and the chicken juicy on the inside. I will order plain if I know I want to enjoy my different hot sauces at home but I really like their Honey butter and garlic flavors. Also, you can easily order online and the wings are ready to be picked up in about 20 minutes. There is limited parking on site which is shared with other restaurants but if you time it right, you can quickly hop out of your car to pickup your food and head out! read more

The chicken here has easily surpassed my love of the garlic chicken from Side Street. We've done bone-in and boneless tendies, both options are fantastic. Bones still have plenty of meat and tendies are huuuge and made in-house. The garlic sauce has real punch, often requiring Tums afterward but absolutely worth it. Our other favorite is the shoyu which has so much umami. I also appreciate their ability to get the chicken nice and saucy without them getting soggy. We've only had the food delivered, and there's plenty of crunchy bits still left--they also reheat nicely in the air fryer! My only suggestion would be that they need to work on sides. We went with the corn once and tasted like it had been floating around in the heating tray too long. Just sad and mushy, like KFC. We tried the mandoo once as well, and they're just your basic ones that probably come from Costco. The fries are also hit or miss, and probably not a great option for delivery. By the time they arrive, they're lukewarm and floppy. Even if I were to grab and go myself, I don't think they'd travel the few minutes to my home very well. Without other options on the menu, you're really just stuck with basic fries that aren't a worthy companion to the chicken. Overall, when I'm craving fried, delicious chicken, this is the go-to. Portions are generous enough that we even get lunch out of it the next day which is a great value for the money you spend. Definitely a winner for the area! read more

I love Vons chicken! Before this location opened, I always visited the Palama one. There's not much to say about the food because it's always so awesome!! Always hot fresh and crispy. My favorite flavor is classic and my boyfriends favorite is the honey butter. The ones with sauces (eps shoyu) are good too! Something about the parking - the first time, I parked across the street at City Mill and walked over. The second time though, I drove into their parking lot no problem, found a spot, but had a VERY hard time getting out. Finally tried Von's and now have been twice. The signature sauce (spicy) is AMAZING....especially if you like heat. It reminds me of general tso chicken but more spicy. It has that tick tangy sauce. The shoyu ones were my son's favorites but for me they were just ok. The honey mustard are delicious because it's Chinese mustard so the flavor really pops. The snow were my least favorite. I just couldn't get enough of any flavor to feel these were worth it. The original/plain are just that....delicious but you don't need to order them. The curry also didn't have enough pop to make me order them again. They were fine, but considering the flavor of curry spice, I expected more. The first time we ordered the mandoo...I wouldn't order them again. This time we ordered fries and got the "cream garlic" or a name similar to this and....honestly it was meh. Was definitely not my favorite. I don't think you really need any sides. The chicken wings are 3x larger that Buffalo Wild Wings so prepare to be super full and satisfied. Did I mention these are wings? The best part of the bird? You have seasoning options-a lot and I suggest starting with a plate instead of a tray if you are looking to just try a flavor. No sense having 20 pieces (tray) of something you don't like. Seasoned is spicy and sticky with kochujang sauce, crispy garlic and crispy shoyu are easy to grasp. Snow wings are not coated in snow, but they are dusted in a salty cheese powder. This is one of my faves. There is creamy garlic and this location just added a honey mustard and curry cheese option! The sides, if you get a plate, are plentiful and what you would expect. Tteokbokki, kimchi, rice, mandoo, and corn. You came for the chicken, not the sides. So, once you decide what you like and are ready for more, be sure to get full or half trays. Order ahead and pick up, otherwise good chicken takes time and you will wait. Took the chicken plate home cause was piping hot and needed to cool off but started to munch on the fries and so addicting couldn't stop. The amount of seasoning was generous, every bite was honey butter fries with some seasoning on the bottom for me to add to my chicken which wasn't needed but the more the merrier :). I got shoyu and crispy seasoned chickens here, the chickens were crispy and tender. There are four vons chicken that I know of on the island. If you want Korean fried chicken, I highly recommend the vons in Kaimuki as not all the vons are the same. The workers are friendly and kind. They told me the owner changed recently. I was lucky, they gave me pickled radish and a drink for free for their "grand opening". If you want "korean" fried chicken, I highly recommend this place. Only downside is that they share parkings with other restaurants next to them, so it may or may not be hard to find parking, but you can always order it online and get it delievered through ubereats, grubhub, etc. read more

Both the seasoned and the garlic were too sweet. The seasoned chicken taste like sweet and sour sauce with a bit of spicy kick and the garlic was lacking garlic flavor. The original fried is reminiscent of Chinese takeout wings but more crispy and with some batter.
