Can't believe I always pass by this crazy intersection Waialae Ave and St.Louis heights. Right at the corner is a Vons chicken. My nephew wanted some chicken for his birthday so take out w/Vons chicken. The snow chicken was very interesting w/Parmesan cheese . I like the Honey butter as well . Service was fast and friendly and their chicken is very crispy and tasty . Support local

Ordered by phone 1 full order of plain crispy fried and half order of soy. The price is not super cheap but the freshly fried chicken satisfied our palate. Parking could be a challenge if the front parking lot is full. Since it is take out only, we usually jump in and just pay and pick up. Coming out of the parking lot is also a slight challenge as you watch out for traffic turning around the corner.

Totally uncool for this restaurant to think it's okay to rip off my teenage daughter! Zero stars for the fluctuation in cost for what was an easy modification to the chicken plate. Chicken plate: Boneless fried chicken Rice Mac salad 2pc Mandoo Modification request: Sub RICE for SNOW FRIES First visit: No problem, sub Rice for Snow Fries $1 upcharge **Mac and Mandoo still included** Second visit: Cashier seemed confused and asked the owner how to charge, then followed owner's advisory. Upon picking up her order, she received: Chicken and Snow Fries in place of the rice (not full order of fries) **Mac and Mandoo, NOT included** **6.99 upcharge But wait... the Snow Fries side order is $6.99..? So you mean to tell me that you think it's fair to charge FULL PRICE for the plate and FULL PRICE for the fries, but you KEPT the Rice, Mac, and Mandoo?? Does that even sound fair to you, business owner? Sounds like you owe my daughter money.

I was super excited to see that they opened up in Hawaii Kai! They're in the same shopping plaza as Safeway, right next to Liko's. I had read that they make each order fresh and that it typically takes 20 minutes, so I called my order in. The person who took my order said it'd be 10-15 min, but it was definitely 20+ min. It's a small place with 4-5 tables inside. It seemed that all of the customers who came in were getting their orders to go. They had K-Pop playing on the TV screen while you wait! This was my first time at a Von's chicken, although I love Korean chicken! I went with the chicken plate for $11.99, which comes with 4 bone-in chicken wings (I chose the shoyu flavor based on the reviews), rice, corn, 2 pieces of mandoo and kimchi. The chicken was crunchy and flavorful. It was also very juicy! It had a nice sweetness to it. I'd definitely return to try some of their other flavors! The corn tasted like it came out of a can, but the mandoo was crunchy and the kimchi was amazing! Right now they're offering free fries if you check in on Yelp. They're string fries and nothing to write home about, but hey, they're free! Definitely check them out if you're in the Hawaii Kai area. They also have several other locations on the island.

I've been seeing Vons pop up on my Yelp for a while. On a very hungry day off, as I was passing through Kaimuki, I just had to try it. To tell the truth, the parking here is quite terrible. I was lucky to come on a weekday and during lunch. You have to pull into the driveway from the street that goes up toward St Louis heights. I can easily see someone getting blocked in or having a hard time getting out. I had a hard time getting out of the parking and back onto Waialae since it's such a busy street. Anyway, besides the parking, the chicken here is amazing. It's that Korean fried chicken kind of restaurant. Kind of similar to the restaurant bbq chicken in Kahala. I got the original and it was great. Nice and crispy and not spicy at all. My husband got the spicy wings and he loved it. The ride home with the chicken in my passenger seat was torture. The smells of the delicious chicken driving from Kaimuki to Hawaii Kai made my stomach rumble even more. We will definitely go back again. Can't wait to try other things.

First time here and it was good. Food was made fresh (chicken was so hot it melted the stytofoam!) Mandoo seem frozen but still tasted good. Got a plate which has a good amount of chicken (I don't like bones so I got boneless). Plate comes with a large portion of rice, some corn (canned but decent), and 2 mandoo. I tried the "snow" flavor which it says is onion/cheese. It was good, slightly sweet, but I wanted more flavor. The chicken was cooked well though with lots of meat and not too much fat. The picture of the plate has mac salad but when I asked he said the only have corn now. It was fast, hot, and tasty so all around a good experience. The parking is difficult though with a very small lot and it was all full so I had to park down the street and walk a bit. It looked very clean too.

Vons chicken is a franchise, but we are from the east coast so we don't have it there to try. We wanted crispy fried chicken and we ordered spicy steamed chicken flavor. Oh it def had a kick to it since I haven't had spicy food due to my pregnancy. The chef in the back messed up our order and did mild for us, then mixed it with spicy. The lady in the front gave us spicy dipping sauce on the side but told us the milk has a sour taste to it and apologized. It wasn't a big deal to us. The service was great and the restaurant looks super clean! I also ordered the Baja corn and it wasn't good at all. :9 for order it! They are known for the chicken not corn' If I was a local I wouldn't mind eating this chicken again but trying the garlic chicken with the spicy sauce on the side !

My kids love Korean Fried Chicken.... So we were excited that Vons open up on Waialae.... We wanted to buy the full order but mixed the flavors but unfortunately it's not allowed. The original fried chicken was good but the kids said it tasted like Popeyes so I don't know if we can take it as a compliment or not.....

Going to Vons in Kaimuki has been on my to-do list for a while. I'm so happy I went. Korean fried chicken is so enjoyable. And Vons is consistently good. We got half orders (10 wings) of the crispy seasoned (spicy) and the crispy shoyu ($14.99). The crispy shoyu was my favorite. This one is fried but tossed with that shoyu sauce. Mmm, umami! But it's not wet or gooey. The crispy seasoned was too hot for me! But I would try the mild version because the flavors were nice. It's fried and coated with a gooey sauce that is slightly sweet. The deal of the day is the corn on the cob! $1.99 with purchase! The regular price is $4.45! What?! You have a choice of Baja BBQ or butter mayo (I think she said there's parmesan cheese on it). Get it! The corn is fresh island corn. It's perfectly cooked, crispy and sweet. The Baja BBQ is slightly spicy. I need to try the butter mayo next. Parking is tricky. You might have to do some maneuvering. But at least there are quite a few stalls. I'll take that challenge to be able to get good eats in my neighborhood!

I have been boycotting the Vons chicken on Pensacola, so I was very excited about this location opening up in kaimuki. Kaimuki is awesome already, so why not add a cons chicken to the number of reasons why I love kaimuki. I do not love the parking lot I have to use when I go here though. It gives me anxiety to have to park in this lot. So I have been waiting for a non busy time to try out this Vons. I got the shoyu wings. They were excellent. I got the snow fries which were ok, but I could pass on these next time. I though a full size would feed 4 people, but I had some extras for lunch the next day and they were still good warmed up. I think next time I will get the half size. It takes a little while for them to make the chicken. I would definitely suggest calling in your order ahead of time. The girl answering the phone I think was chinese, she understood and correctly repeated back to me what I wanted, but I was nervous my order wouldn't be right for some reason. I shouldn't have worried, everything turned out perfectly. They have a few tables inside, but I think most people get their chicken to go. I'll definitely be back. I wish they sold pickled radish like the palama location has :)

I uploaded this picture into chat gpt with the business explanation of the pinking in poultry and according to AI, "Pinking" can happen in cooked poultry -- but what you're showing in the photo does not look like harmless pinking. Here's the difference in plain language: Harmless "pinking" (still fully cooked) * Happens from smoking, high heat, or certain proteins. * The meat is fully opaque, firm, and cooked through. * Only the outer edge or near the bone looks pinkish. What your picture shows * The meat looks translucent, soft, and raw, especially near the joint. * There are dark, bloodlike areas around the bone. * The texture looks undercooked, not just color-changed from chemical reactions. Even with pinking, cooked chicken never looks glossy or raw in the center the way yours does. I decided not to go back to the counter because there was a language barrier and I felt the woman wasn't listening to me in the first place anyway. Threw pretty much all the food away and left hungry and down $20.

Because my kids can't handle spicy food, I asked for one dish to be made non-spicy so they could try it first. They loved it, so I ordered a second serving of the exact same dish for them. When the second order arrived, I could clearly see red chili flakes throughout the dish. As soon as my kids started eating, they complained that it was too spicy and couldn't finish it. I politely asked if the kitchen could remake the dish with no spice, explaining that it was for young children. Instead of trying to help, I was told the dish was made the same way as the first one and that it was the best they could do. There was no effort to find a solution or accommodate such a simple request. We ended up spending over $100 on a meal that our kids couldn't eat, and the lack of customer service made the experience even more disappointing. Sadly, we won't be returning and can't recommend this restaurant to families with young children. This version flows more naturally while emphasizing the inconsistency between the first and second dishes.

Since we saw how big the portion were and didn't want anything too heavy (read: sadly, no loco moco or Japanese curry), we opted to split a FRIED CHICKEN RICE PLATE ($16.95) which came with a Fried Chicken Cutlet over White Rice with Mac Salad & Green Salad. Funny enough, despite already having a sense of how much food they give, I was still surprised by the generous portion size. As for how it all tasted, this was great. The breading on the chicken reminded me of Popeye's (though, without the spice), the batter was crispy, and the chicken itself was rather moist. As for the sides, the mac salad was pretty good, but the salad was a little heavy on dressing. If there was one thing I could change about our order, I think I'd want to see how it would taste with a sauce or glaze. At the very least, I'd definitely go with a different dipping sauce, like their Pineapple Ginger, Lilikoi Mayo, or Guava BBQ, as the Honey Mustard we went with tasted a bit generic. Of course, we could've solved both problems if we had gone with the Fried Chicken Loco Moco or Fried Chicken Curry Rice instead! I guess I'll just have to wait until the next time I'm in Waikiki!

We got the Fried Chicken Meal and it was pretty solid! the chicken was so crispy and wasn't dry at…read moreall! fries were great and the mac salad was solid. the service was good, they were super nice and patient. this place is tucked in with a couple other food trucks/stalls and it's in such a cute area! there's seats and tables outside and it feels lively especially at night! definitely a place to check out if you're craving a somewhat filling meal!
