I waited about two years for this place to re-open. I used to go up to the top of this hotel to the Vue Bar & Restaurant to have a nice breakfast with a great view. There was a small buffet, and you could even order poached eggs as a specialized request with no issue. Dishes, silverware, cloth napkins; everything one should expect at a hotel of this status. I went with a friend on 5.August.2022 for breakfast and was very disappointed with the experience. Where just about every other restaurant/business around had already been back to regular working conditions for over a year, at the Vue Bar & Restaurant, we now had to pay for our breakfast upfront by getting a "voucher" at the hotel lobby on the ground floor (which we found out ONLY after being seated upstairs), there were NO porcelain coffee cups, saucers, dishes or real silverware; everything was paper, plastic or styrofoam. We had to "special order" poached eggs because they "weren't on the buffet menu." We had to get our own coffee, condiments, etc. by being directed to a table where we could serve ourselves. However, the food was good. It remained the same quality and selection from what I remember from two years ago. I'm extremely disappointed with this place now, after experiencing what it was over two years ago. One should expect a lot more from this restaurant, especially since it is in a very nice hotel, and TWO YEARS had gone by for them to get rolling again. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

What a great place to eat and take sunset pictures. I took my family there and all 4 dishes were 5 star! The only downside was the heavy wind which detracted a bit from the experience. Not the restaurants fault! Just don't sit at a hightop table like I did. Definitely recommend! read more

The view is beautiful. The service staff is great, but the food is nothing to rave about. I ordered the seared ahi tuna and it was super salty and fishy so I returned it. The wedge salad was okay. The chicken I added to the salad was dry. The Onion rings were borderline burned. I wasn't impressed by the craft cocktail I ordered. I spent another five days at the Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport and again ate at the Vue five straight nights. The Chef was on his game. I had a massive New York strip that was awesome, and I grew up on cattle ranch in Western Nebraska, so I have eaten a lot of steak. The Korean ribs were super tasty. I was nervous about trying Kimchi for the first time and it was awesome. Finally, the Andouille, Chicken and Shrimp pasta was killer spicy good! The head bartender, Justin, is so much fun and he has a great group of people working with him. It is a fun place. Probably not where I would take a bunch of kids to eat, but for adults looking for a fun bar with great food, it was perfect. Also is 2 minutes from the airport. The new menu is well within budget for a hotel restaurant, you get a half a chicken for dinner! Damn was it good. Kaley and Ivan were great bartenders, and my server Shannon was tremendously kind, warm, welcoming, and made each table she served leave with a smile. And we've always been very puzzled to why he was so invested in the Holiday Inn in Long Beach but now we know, it's worth the visit! Vue is a perfect place for Happy Hour or early dinner to watch the sunset. If you don't know, it's located on top of the hotel and it has a panoramic view of Long Beach. The view is absolutely incredible and I loved dining while looking out into the vastness of the city. We got the calamari and crispy mac n cheese to share for the table, while the fiancé had the clam linguini and I opted for caesar salad add salmon. There was also an additional menu with specials, in which our dinner companions got the lavender porchetta, which is basically a pork chop. For $14 the porchetta was a really good price for the portion size served. The highlights were definitely the calamari and crispy mac n cheese. They were perfectly crispy and the flavors were nice. According to my dinner pals, the linguni and porchetta were good but nothing to write home about. My caesar salad is very basic but the salmon was nicely cooked and I enjoyed my simple dinner choice. The service is good, our server was very friendly. We could've done with a little more attention to detail as a couple of our orders came out wrong, specifically I asked for no croutons and I ended up having to pick all of it out of my salad myself and no comments were made about it. Oh well, it wasn't the end of the world and really, the view made up for everything, hence 4 stars because I would totally come back for happy hour! read more

As a local, I have come before for dinner and drinks. This evening i brought out of town guests was embarrassed Everything was disappointing. Customer service was down right awful. The food: the chips and salsa took 40 min to come out and the salsa tasted like it was literally out of a jar. I had to go to the bar myself to get a refill for a soda, never received the ranch. The carne asada fries were extremely dry. Couldn't have been more disappointed. read more

At the top of a Holiday Inn! Yes it's a penthouse bar/ restaurant that delivers not only delicious food but panoramic views to enjoy. Today it was not overly crowded and we scored a window table. Service was friendly and prompt. The menu has something for everyone. From salads, soups, sandwiches to 4 main entrees. We both were sold on the Fork and Knife Burger. It's was sooo good! A blend of prime rib, short rib and sirloin topped with melty cheese and a bone marrow bordelaise on the side. Accompanied by a huge portion of golden crispy french fries. My colleague opted for the sweet potato fries which I noticed he ate every last morsel. The drink menu looked appealing, unfortunately as this was a midday business meeting I did not imbibe on any of the ample selection. All in all a great lunch location and I'm sure a great place for happy hour or dinner. read more

First let me start by saying that the one not so great review I saw here was completely wrong! My husband and I had the BEST experience with Miguel. Not to mention the BEST dining experience one could have in a hotel restaurant! If you have the opportunity to, I would highly recommend being seated in Miguel's section! The restaurant is really nice for a holiday inn. i was surprised. Unfortunately, the execution on the happy hour menu pizzas were terrible. not sure who would pay $14 for that 'flatbread' pizza but theyd clearly have more money than brains. looked and tasted like something i made at home with Sargento mozzarella, a can of Hunts and dollar store pepperoni and crust. What a waste of talent. the jalapeno poppers were nice to read but terrible to eat. spicy, full of cream cheese and greasy with bacon. they sounded good and even at my hungriest i could only eat one out of 4. I tried this place out since I am staying at the hotel, happy it offers food, however I feel it is over priced a little. I had the NY steak with garlic mashed potaoes and asparagus $39, I actually liked the asparagus more than the steak and potatoes. I tried their michelada $9 and it had more michelada mix than beer, it had a very strong flavor of Worcestershire so for me it wasn't that great lastly, I ordered vanilla icecream to go, yea, I paid $5 bucks for two, doz scoops, I should of just gone to CVS and bought me a carton. Additionally, staff was very nice and attentive. If I hadn't been charged $5 on the icecream I would of gave it a 4 star. Ofcourse, we all have different opinions on the taste. read more

One of my favorite places in Long Beach, the Vue has an amazing View. On the top floor of the holiday inn, this restaurant and bar features lots of events and live music. Parking is free in the hotel, they have a regular menu and a bar menu, I recommend the regular menu. Cocktails are well mixed and their old fashioned is a must for whisky lovers. My favorite meal at the VUE is breakfast, other than the menu they have a breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff, every time I'm their I enjoy the experience. read more

The wine was better. They have a happy hour menu. I got the onion rings which was an order of five pieces that were greasy. On March 9th, I came back for dinner. I had the meatloaf, Cesar salad, and tomato bisque soup. The Cesar dressing was very good. On March 23rd, I cam back for dinner. The waiter was Gibson. He was extremely helpful in guiding me to the dinner selection of the new revised menu. The lamb shank is no longer on the menu. He recommended the ribeye. Unfortunately that's at a $46 price point. He also recommended pasta and it was very good. I would have never considered ordering a pasta dish here. I got it with chicken instead of shrimped. They breaded the chicken and I had a flashback of chicken parmigana. He also suggested and made the lava cake for dessert. It was presented beautifully and it was delicious. Great Job Gibson. I love the view and to see the sun set behind the hill is quite impressive. The service was spotty and had to ask for ice tea refills and for ice for the iced tea. I ordered a side salad plus fish and chips. The salad was a great mix of lettuce, grape tomatoes, carrots, pickled onions, radishes, and cucumbers. It one of the best I've had in a while. Then came the fish and chips. The chips were fried slices of potatoes and pretty good. The fish was beer battered, looked great but the was chewy, watery, cold and not overly tasty. read more

I went to the New Year's Eve party. I had made a reservation during the week. When we got there they had no record of my reservation and he said he didn't know if he could seat us. Finally he gave us a nice table by the window near the band. The speakers were facing away from me so it was not too loud. The first course was soup. There were two different kinds of creamy soup. It would've been nice if there was one that was more like a broth. The second course was a salad with minimal dressing on it. It tasted pretty good. For my entrée I picked lobster. It was served in the shell. I asked the waiter to take it out for me, and he said it wouldn't be difficult for me to do it myself. I tasted the lobster and it was really chewy and I couldn't swallow it. I tried a few bites and I was not enjoying it at all. Then I looked at the lobster and I saw that the top part that was cooked was white, and the part under it was raw and gray colored. I told the waiter and he said he would get me a new one. It was served by the head chef who apologized. The sides were a small portion of creamed spinach and a few tiny pieces of potato. The last course was a small cheesecake slice which tasted good. I enjoyed the bread. I liked the music and the singers. Would I come back here for New Year's? No. Would I come back here for dinner? No. Did they charge more for the cover for seniors than their ad had stated? Yes. read more

Came here for our company holiday party. We pre-ordered so the guys knew what we wanted. We were a group of 20 so it was nice that they gave us the private room. The place looks really nice, but I guess I should have expected that seeing that it was inside a hotel. You have a good view of Long Beach, but I think it would be better at night. I got the lamb burger and I was quite disappointed. The bun was very disappointing and the burger itself was too gamey and had no seasoning. I would maybe go and try other things, or maybe go for the view and drinks only, but maybe not anytime in the near future, nor would I really push for it. read more

Parking is pretty small but pretty sure you will not have a problem finding parking. I have drove past this place for years and actually never been in the building. I went on a lunch date and i must say i was impressed. There was an amazing view of long beach ambience was very pleasant. I must say service exceeded my expectations. I ordered the big appetizer(chose the nachos instead of the garlic fries, it was either or), he took our drink order and forgot what we ordered but didn't decide to come make to ask to make sure so he ended up ringing up nachos and bringing that out!!! -when we asked him where our order was he laughed and said you canceled it! When we said we did not cancel our order he responded o well kitchen is close even if you didn't cancel and you want what you ordered it's to late laughing?!!' They have a great happy hour and GREAT view of the freeway/ Long Beach area. A good place to wait out traffic during happy hour before going home. The food could use some upgrade. Located on the top floor of the Holiday Inn (the circular one) I was surprised that the view was rather lovely, especially when the sun was setting. The menu is huge but Chef Thomas told us he was in the process of revamping the menu so perhaps by the time you dine there, it'll be a new menu. However, it was quite a feat reading through both sides of the menu and then deciding what to eat. Appetizers: Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers -- as far as poppers go, these were very good. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. It was fried to perfection and even with the bacon, it was not greasy and not at all soggy. Crispy Mac n Cheese Bites -- these were good, crispy on the outside and possessing very good flavors Braised Short Rib Sliders -- this was my least favorite item of the evening. Between this and the chicken parm sliders, the latter won hands down. Chicken Parmesan Sliders -- totally loved these. The chicken is delicious and the bun to meat ratio was great. I thought each mouthful had the desired ingredients equally dispersed and constructed within the slider. Entrees: Braised Lamb Shank -- loved the lamb shank. It was tender and a solid offering with the best potatoes and romesco sauce on the plate. The flavors worked really well together. If you love lamb, this is the one to order. Pan Seared Salmon -- not usually a fish I order when eating out, I enjoyed the accoutrements in this dish. The salmon was a tad overcooked, but overall, fish lovers will enjoy it. Lobster Mac n Cheese -- this was the most surprising dish of the night. I'm not a huge fan of mac n cheese because it's always cloying and goopey. This mac n cheese -- though a huge portion -- was not heavy whatsoever. On top of that, there's nothing more delightful than to find big chunks of lobster nestled within the pasta. It's a huge portion and there is no way you'll be able to eat that whole plate so order it for the table and share. Of course, it is even better the next day. Very pleasantly surprised by our meal here. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. There is also live music on Friday and Saturday nights! read more

Appetizers (flatbread, fries, calamari etc. ) were half off. Casual atmosphere and waiters are very attentive. We stayed for dinner which opened at 5pm. Spacious seating. clean with modern decor. Our waiter was energetic with lots of suggestions. Decent wine selections. Maine course selections covered all proteins. The starter was lobster bisque soup ( killer stuff ) followed with petite tenderloin with wine reduction sauce ( again killer stuff ) combined price, aprox $45. My hunny took me here for Valentine's Day and it was such a great experience! The pre-fix three course Valentine's Day menu was absolutely delicious! Not only was dinner amazing but the entire ambiance set for Valentine's Day was an awesome touch! The server even gave me a rose when we closed out our tab. The veggie spring rolls were pretty good too. The view of Signal Hill and the Long Beach area was nice. The chocolate lava cake was chocolaty. I'm not a chocolate fan but I wanted to try it.
