I like Waba. It's quick, tasty, affordable (especially with the Tuesday special), and fairly healthy. This would be a 5 star review if not for my experience last night. My family and I walked in 25 minutes before closing. Chairs were on the table and the trash can was turned around. On It's own, no big deal, I know how it goes having spent 5 years in dining. The problem came when I responded "for here" once asked. The cashier said bluntly "you know we close in 20 minutes, right?" This establishment surpassed our catering needs today!! I run a business and wanted to throw my associates a Christmas party. I made an order ahead of time and the store manager (extremely kind and lovely lady) was so pleasant to work with. She and the wonderful cook came in two hours before their time to prep my order. They gave us every sauce they carry in a bunch, chillis, waba sauce, utensils, and more! At a great reasonable price for a fast food restaurant - It was much appreciated!! The food tasted fantastic as well, thanks to the cook. If you're ever thinking of ordering and being catered for your event from this specific waba grill, you will be extremely happy. This restaurant is not too far from my house so I really wish that it was great. The problem is that it is not great. The service is poor. I traded three or four times and I've had about the same experience each time; it just seems like the employees aren't there to provide service. The food is decent, nothing fantastic, and I think it is a little bit pricey for what you get. I am certainly hoping that things improve. read more

Went here today to grab lunch and go. My cashier was Denise - she was very rude and messed my order 3 times and after reading it back to me correctly, I paid. I reached for my drink cup and she told me that I did not get one. I had ordered it with my meal and she messed up yet again. The food is good but I have a complaint. They signed up to be in the "Entertainment Book" which drives a lot of business to restaurants. Once we were there they said their location doesn't accept them. Hmmmm I thought if you advertised something in writing you had to stand by your word. Dear Waba Grill La Verne. Your service is slow, your employees are not very motivated to provide good service, do not cook the food to what Waba Grill should be, did not get my order right several times now, and do not answer phone calls well for phone orders. I suggest to put your whole heart into the services that you should be providing as a business that caters to people or close up shop. They flirted with my husband while I was on FaceTime with him and when I called the manager, she denied the whole thing even when I heard it for myself.. The women asked my husband why doesn't he wear a ring (He's a mechanic) and that it's very misleading to her. Probably why she works at WaBa Grill. And to top it off, they forgot my waba sauce! I'm giving them 5 stars because I really don't have any reason to give them anything less. Honestly I expected this place to be your average Asian rice and chicken/steak bowl fast food joint...we actually called our order in at about 8:40 pm and walked over to this place cuz it's so close to our house. Arriving there at literally 9:00 on the dot, I had told them our order would be to go. They had it ready and we paid and brought our food home. We both had the steak and chicken plate, me with the brown rice, my sweetheart with the white rice. I really didn't expect anything great but was super surprised when we dug in and started eating! Considering also that we were just about the very last customers. But the food we got tasted super fresh and delicious! Both the steak and the chicken were sooo yummy, and the rice was perfectly sticky and delicious! The plate came with a tiny salad and about a quarter slice of an orange... To which my fiancé was quick to say "maybe next time we can trade the orange piece for more meat" loL! Typical! Anyway I did eat the little salad and whatever dressing they put on it was great! I GOT FOOD POISONING.... First time trying this place ordered the shrimp and veggie plate. Had if for dinner, went to bed and woke up that night with an upset stomach. From that point i was back and forth to the restroom. Couldn't hold anything down. My stomach was cramping and i didnt know what was wrong. Called my doctor because i thought i was dying. I was really excited to try this new Waba location. I ordered a salmon veggie bowl and a chicken veggie bowl both with avocado and no onions. I get home and there is no avocado, no veggie and to top it all off a massive scoop of onions on both bowls. I was the only customer in there so it was not like they were extremely busy. I ordered a chicken veggie bowl with brown rice and got white rice so I asked politely to the cashier if I can get it fixed and all she did was just put brown rice in a separate bowl which is not what I wanted she was just being lazy since they had no other customers waiting, how hard could it have been to redo my order seriously??? And to top things off I kept saying excuse me until I basically screamed cuz all the workers were too busy talking to one another to actually pay attention to me when I asked for chilli sauce. After living in Asia for 3 years I have pretty high standards for even Asian fast food. While this isn't authentic Asian food, it's a great American-Asian fast food restaurant. This particular location has the same person at the counter taking orders all the time & this person is just rude, like this person doesn't know you but already doesn't like you-making that very obvious.
