I'm sure most people compare Waba Grill to Flame Broiler. Or, if you're old school you'll liken it to Yoshinoya (yep, they're still around). Essentially, it kind of is the same thing. The key difference that stands out for Waba Grill is that they also offer shrimp as an option instead of just chicken or beef. Other than that, it's virtually the same idea. The food was good. I ordered my standard white meat chicken bowl with brown rice and veggies. I like that their bowls actually allow you to mix everything together. They have nice wide bowls so that you mix everything up without having your place mat look like a toddler sat there. I found the food to be a bit salty for me, but when I checked the sodium level it was the norm. Coulda just been that my tastebuds were off or something. I don't know if I'll go back to this location as it was a little sketch. There was some dude hanging out front that looked like he was fresh off Molly or bathsalts or something. I don't know. I just don't want to get shanked or catch a case for shanking someone for a chicken bowl. read more

I enjoyed the food. I still thank flame broiler is better on a few levels. Went with a couple of coworkers and one of them got hardly any chicken with their chicken bowl. She went to ask about it and the cook completely blew her off and told her she could pay for some more chicken. Again, the food was good but I still prefer other spots to this one. read more

WaBa Grill = just another version of The Flame Broiler. Large tubs of rice, grilled meat chopped on a block and me becoming less and less interested in ever eating here again as I watch others foodstuffs being made while I waited for my to-go order standing next to the end of the counter. I observed filthy rags, trash on the floor, commingled meat on the cutting board, can't figure out why the orders come out so damn slow other than they are over ran with customers at lunchtime and the guys working the grill are slower than the girls working the front. Cut, wipe, cut, wipe, cut, wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe! And try using a clean rag in a fresh bucket of sanitizer once in awhile. Gees. I was happy this meal didn't make me ill, even so, I won't be going back here anytime soon. read more

Much better than Flame Broiler! It's quick, it's delicious, and it's fresh. I highly recommend the Chicken above the steak and ribs but the ribs are also really good. Majority of the time they do a great job giving generous portion of meat so the rice to meat ratio isn't too off. The teriyaki sauce is to die for! Makes everything taste super good. Don't forget to get the 10%off for checking in and get it with green onions. One of my favorite places to come by for a quick meal! read more

I use to be a regular customer of this waba grill after this last visit, i guess is under new management because it greatly seems that is into saving cost by cutting in portions, before it was a pleasure open my plate and see generous portions (equally distributed rice Chicken and steak) now is a miserable experience having tons of rice and a miserable portions of meats. It's a shame when restaurants like this turn in to an unpleasant place to spend your money... Seems like they forgot the "healthy choice" because eating 85% of rice loaded with carbs and calories makes it a no longer healthier choice... read more

It was my first time trying Waba Grill so I asked the cashier Chelsea for some help and she recommended the Waba plate, I was a little skeptical, but it tasted really good. AHHHHHHH. I loved it! Who knew something like this could be so yummy and healthy at the same time. I truly appreciate the no MSG, skinless, fat-trimmed chicken, not fried, no oil, low-fat... etc. LOVE LOVE LOVE! I love their portion sizes and the prices are proper for the amount of food you get. I love Waba the food is good it's healthy refreshing tasty and just plain healthy good the only thing is this Waba location sucks with their customer service when you order the food over the phone 1. They take forever to pick up the phone 2. The girls that pick up the phone have a very nasty attitude and you have to repeat your self like 3 times for them to get your order . Super disappointing service. I tried using a coupon to order 2 waba bowls and asked if I could also add veggies and spicy waba sauce to the bowls. When I get home I see they gave me 2 regular chicken bowls with side orders of veggies and no spicy waba sauce. The veggies were pretty undercooked and the chicken was cut into too large of pieces. Had bad experiences here in the past and I gave them another chance but I will continue to drive further just to avoid this Waba Grill. read more

Very fresh and the place is very clean. As many other's have said it is similar to flame-broiler but they have more options. I had the chicken salad plate which was yummy. They also list nutrition facts (at least online), can't remember about the location menu but I REALLY appreciate restaurants that do this as it helps me narrow down my selection/splurge. Great teriyaki beef (steak) plate. If you want to eat healthier, get it on brown rice. I really wish this place would add sushi rolls or some kind of side dishes. They only offer the bowls and plates, but sometimes when you're super hungry, you want that little extra CA roll, dumplings, or whatever. I am still coming back to this place though. Maybe it's good to train yourself to cut down on the calories The food tastes very fresh and the beef is good. Also, the salad dressing is surprisingly tasty. They give a right proportion of rice to meat.... unlike other places where they give a lot more rice with just a small portion of beef. read more

The short of it: - similar to Flame broiler - rice bowls, salads - seafood options - reasonable pricing - Favs: Chicken Salad plate The long of it: Flame broiler has some competition with Waba! I like Waba especially because they have more options! Flame broiler only has rice bowls or you can make it a veggie bowl too. However, at Waba you can get bowls and salads here. In addition to the standard beef and chicken they also have salmon and shrimp. I have ordered the Chicken salad plate and its a big salad with lots of chicken. Very good meal. I even ate the salad without the dress because I felt as though the chicken was tasty enough. Looking forward to coming back and trying all the other options. read more

Waba is similar to many of the rice-bowl places that have popped up over the years such as Yoshinoya and Flame Broiler... the thing is, this place is slightly better. This restaurant is perfect for the quick, after-work pick me up, especially since I had to work lots of overtime today. This evening I ordered a half and half bowl (sounds familiar right?), which consists of chicken and beef teriyaki. You also have the option for brown or white rice and with or without green onions. If you don't like gobbling down chicken or beef, they do offer the option of shrimp or salmon. Yay pescetarian-friendly! Also, I like their little bottles of hot sauce. I thought it was cute that they have labels stating "Waba Grill" on them. read more

I'm going to go ahead and admit this is not the best food in the world, but Waba Grill has got a lot going for it. 1) Lightning fast service. These guys areas fast as most fast food places. Definitely a plus when you're eating out for a work lunch. 2) Good price to food ratio. About $6 gets you a very filling amount of food, and it's not just all rice, either. I usually get the combo bowl, which eschews veggies for chicken and beef filling up your bowl. 3) It's incredibly close to my workplace. Obviously, this doesn't apply to everyone, but I think the first two should be enough ;) And I wouldn't exactly call it health food like the store espouses, but it's definitely on the healthier side compared to the other things you would probably be stuffing your face with. read more

Normally Waba is my go to meal. It's quick, healthy and fairly inexpensive. I don't know if this location is lacking skills but I came here 2 weeks ago and ordered what I always order: chicken, brown rice and veggies. It was nasty. Coincidentally, I was the first customer of the day. The chicken tasted reheated and chewy. I came back today, to give them a second chance. I ordered the same thing but upgraded to white meat......It was nasty, flavorless and chewy. How do you get chicken wrong when you specialize in it? Sadly, I'll have find another location or settle for something else. read more

This place is under new management and has definitely turned a corner. They used to close way too early and I'd arrive after work only to be met with a closed sign. Now they are open til 900 pm which is later than the other WaBa Grills I have been to. I can definitely say that the food quality has improved 210 %! They went from rubber, obviously super old meat, to now having fresh tender chicken and steak that tastes like it wasn't frozen and defrosted 20 times over like it did before the change. I am sooo relieved that this place is under new management, now I can frequent a great WaBa Grill that is nearby, rather than travel outside the city where the meat will hopefully be fresher. I have recently started coming to this location. I keep coming back! The food is fresh, tasty and hot. The employees are kind, courteous, helpful, and professional. The entire store is sparkling clean, including the bathrooms. (Clean bathrooms are extremely important because this is a measure of the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire restaurant.) This location is open 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. Amazing! That means you can always get a healthy takeout meal. I recommend getting a bowl on the way to work to heat for lunch. Also, eating vegetables for breakfast is a "game changer" in terms of weight loss and/or weight maintenances. Start eating veggie bowls for breakfast. You will be happy you did! Eat here often normally good quality, other times they skimp on the meat quantity. Today the rice was pretty hard unlike normal soft white rice. Compared to flame broiler it's a toss up, only reason I come here is because I can add avocado. read more

Came today 8/24/2020 at around 5:30-5:45pm and placed my order through the phone. Allison, the one taking my order, had amazing customer service. The conversation didn't feel rushed like other places I've ordered from and she actually made me feel good after a long day I had. Once I got inside to pick up my order, she was STILL very sweet with amazing customer service. I had to compliment her on it too. I came in here yesterday about 7pm and everything looks so much better and clean. So apparently there is a new owner which makes sense as to why it looks 10x better. The food quality is a lot better, the steak is not dry. Great customer service. The cashier "Gaby" I believe was her name, was so nice and had the biggest smile, she recommended a steak bowl with an avocado on top and it was delicious. I am so glad this place opened. I live across the street and would sometimes walk to Jack in the Box or Denny's but there was not any real healthy options until now. I went there the day they opened. The first time I tried Waba Grill I thought it was delicious. The next few times, OK. Tonight, terrible. I ordered a salmon teriyaki bowl, with veggies and brown rice avocado. After waiting 18 minutes, I received the to-go order and took it home. I opened it right away. The veggies were barely lukewarm and pretty much undercooked. The salmon was overcooked and dry. Yuk. Great Taste and awesome yelp deal free drink with check-in I used to order from them using postmates delivery service but for some reason I am unable to now. I was excited to see Waba Grill not too far away. I ordered a chicken plate, no onions, with two sides of salad (skipped the fruit today) to go. When I arrived back at work I was really disappointed but didn't have time to go back. My chicken plate had onions and they did not include the salad dressing. Needless to say I'm still hungry. This place is awesome!! Service: I got in and was greeted right away by the cashier. I asked if she could give me a chicken plate but with all vegetables instead of rice, and she said she could do that for me. Very accomodating staff as long as youre nice!! Food: The food was delicious don't get me wrong. I'm just a little disappointed about how much chicken I got when I got the plate for almost $10 (reason for the 4 stars. During this time of COVID every restaurant should be safe and wear a mask especially the cooks and the people at the register, but when I walked in the lady at the register had NO mask on or gloves. I used to come here all the time and the food was great!
