I think the staff needs to work better together. I saw a lot of tension, a lot of attitude and snapping at each other. I was there probably 20 minutes and saw people coming back with the wrong orders. My order was wrong. I ordered the chicken veggie bowl and I guess the cashier heard differently. She even admitted she was thinking about the chicken bowl that's why she rang it up that way (Maybe she was hungry?). I paid extra for the veggies totalling my lunch about $9 for my bowl and drink. The food is very good and they have tofu options which is great because I am vegetarian. My complaint is with an employee named Roxy. I work around the area so I call to place an order when she answers the phone she puts me on hold and never comes back on the line I walk in and I am still on hold. Today was the first time I tried Waba Grill and will probably be the last time I go to this specific location. I'm willing to try the other locations though. I called in an order and said I had a coupon for a deal. When I got there, the cashier said a higher total than it should've been, but read my order with 3 items, when it was supposed to be 2 items. As I handed my credit card, I corrected her so that she could remove the third item and bring down the total, but she said "that's what I meant" and charged my card before I could give her my coupon. When I brought out the coupon, she said she already charged it and we both stood there awkwardly. She didn't offer to refund the charge and put through the discounted one. One of her coworkers (manager?) even asked about what just happened and she said she already charged it. If they cannot refund, that's fine, but she didn't really express any apologies and she should have explained it to me. Also, I wasn't able to stop her in time because she read my order wrong. I usually do not leave negative feedback for businesses and I'm usually understanding, but this just really rubbed me the wrong way. I feel like it was possible for her to refund it and put it through again, but it would have been a hassle, that's why it wasn't offered. I wouldn't come back here again because who knows how else I'll be mistreated. As for the food, better than Yoshinoya, but Yoshinoya has better deals so you pay less. So if you are looking for higher quality and are willing to pay for it, feel free to come here. I'll probably try the salmon, shrimp and combo plates at the Katella location. read more

I had drove by this brand new Waba Grill several times and finally decided to give it a try. Maybe because they were new they ran out of ingredients but they ran out of ribs when I was really looking forward to getting that rib plate. Anyways, in substitution I got steak and I really enjoyed it and it came with fruit and salad. The place is really small and seemed to be under staff considering majority of the tables were dirty but the only person not cooking was manning the cash register. Waba grill is Great place. Its healthy and always satisfying. The only reason I give it a 3 is because of the service provided by the worker at the cash register. She was a bit rude. I told her I had a 10% check-in discount, and she processed my transaction before my discount/coupon could be shown to her. That really upset me. I didn't take it any further. I like coming here for lunch its an easy healthy choice it doesnt take a long time. I like coming here compared to other waba grills this is one of the best locations the portions are good and consistent. One of the things that I don't like is that they push for you to use the little packs of hot sauce and teriyaki sauce instead of the bottles that they use to provide. Those little packs are sometimes hard to open. The staff is really nice. The place is really clean. read more

The food is great here, however the service was horrible. I came here after my workout at the gym and there was no customers here yet. Awesome fast service incoming...... Not!! The lady was on the phone doing a order over the phone which was fine. The thing that made me pist was we stood there for about 10 mins and she didn't even acknowledge us. After the phone call she proceeded to go to the back out of eye view. The cook saw me and even he knew that I was pist. At this point I was ready to leave, but my wife was really hungry so we stayed. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I would give them negative stars if I could. I am standing in Waba in my pajamas at 850pm at night because they could not properly handle my to go order. The girl at the cash register does not know and/or understand the difference between chicken BREAST and DARK MEAT. I asked her for chicken breast while placing my order, after I paid, and again when she handed me the bags. She said "yes it's chicken breast." Sadly I cannot stomach dark meat so I sped back over here before they closed. We tried calling them but they were not answering the phone. When I came in, there was only 1 guest and 4 employees waiting to go home. I handed the same cashier a bag with 2 bowls and said these are dark meat, not breast. One of the cooks turned to her and whispered "I told you." No apology from ANYONE. Instead she proceeded to ring me up for the breast up charge for 2 bowls! Needless to say, I said I was not paying as I was standing there in my pajamas and had to leave my children at home. This is the 1st time I've been to Waba Grill in months. Don't like the little packets of teriyaki sauce but sometimes there are bottles available. Location is clean and quiet and has an outdoor area. I really don't see much of a difference between this place and a Flame Broiler. They both offer almost identical menus, though WaBa does offer a few other items like grilled shrimp, grilled salmon and flanken ribs. Comparing the chicken bowl, which is the most popular item, I would say that other than the way the chicken is cut up, the product is very similar to the FB. It's grilled chicken thigh meat with teriyaki sauce. I think the pricing is slightly less at WaBa though and perhaps this is where their advantage is. If you want a quick and decent chicken bowl, this isn't a bad choice. This particular location isn't very easy to get into due to the way the parking lot and access point from Chapman is configured. It's in a very small strip mall that is shared in the same lot as a Denny's, Jack in the Box and a Motel 6. Service is a walk-up and pick-up counter, so they are just taking your order and payment and calling out your order when ready to get at the counter, much like most fast food places. read more
