Used to live in LA and loved going to Howlin' Rays, on this trip back I got to try out the Pasadena spot for the first time. Glad to say it's just as good, if not better, than the original spot given the amount of seating! Arrived around 6 pm on a Friday and waited around 30 minutes to order? Really not bad at all. All the servers were so friendly as always and that really is what makes Howlin Ray's the cream of the crop. The cashier got me a sample of the medium plus to try, as I couldn't remember if I got a medium plus or hot sando. I ordered the luis style sando, no cheese (although I might get the cheese next time to help with the spice) and medium plus, and then a single hot wing because I'm a masochist. My friends ordered the fries (otherwise I would order them as well, fries are amazing!). This location also had Pliny the Elder on tap so I got that as well. I will say, I always go for heat but my friend's got mild and that really slapped as well. The chicken is just so well cooked, I'm lucky I don't live nearby or I'd be here every week. Next time, I might even try a solo country wing! Parking is pretty easy, there's a lot in the back that's pretty packed but doable if you just wait a few minutes.

If you ever want one thing in LA, it HAS to be Howlin' Rays. I came on a Friday early afternoon and…read moreonly waited maybe 20 minutes which isn't bad at all. I know that the long lines seem really intimidating but it's worth it. I love the community feel this place has because all the employees' are friendly and it feels like you're at home. If you want a table, they have these 'reserved' placards placed on the table but it's not really reserved and more so, for one of the employees to "seat" you down at a clean table. Food: Sando medium spice (9.5/10): First time trying medium and it wasn't too spicy. We didn't get rid of anything so it comes with slaw and pickles on top of a spice coated chicken breast sandwiched in between toasted bread. I do wish that the spice was more evenly distributed throughout the chicken since the most spicy part was at the beginning with the solid crunch. The slaw adds a nice freshness with every bite so it doesn't feel as heavy. The pickles add a touch of acidity and I don't think that it was acidic to the point where it overpowered everything. French Fries (9/10): Crispy exterior with a soft, fluffy interior are my cup of tea. The seasoning they use adds a nice spice to each bite. We also got a cup of their comeback sauce and it was the cherry on top.

I've heard these breakfast burritos are the go to if you want a breakfast burrito and that…read morestatement couldn't be more right. This is a burger joint with a diverse menu, including one of the biggest breakfast burritos in town. I got my burrito with bacon. The burrito comes with hashbrown style potatoes, eggs and cheese - you get a choice of ham, bacon or sausage for your meat (or have it without meat). The bacon was crispy and remained crispy when I reheated my other half. Not only is the bacon crispy, the burrito has a generous amount of it! Oh and the other plus - the tortilla does not come wet and soggy and remains in perfect condition if you have leftovers. The burrito comes with only one salsa and to be honest, you really do need two for such a big burrito. I'm a green salsa girl but I asked what I should go with and I was recommended the red one (the green one is supposedly spicier). The red salsa did not disappoint other than I needed one more for my whole burrito (there's no kick to this salsa but it's tasty). The burrito itself isn't bursting with flavor on its own and it requires the salsa to compliment the other ingredients. But, who eats a breakfast burrito without salsa? There is ample parking in their parking lot and there's seating both inside and outside. I will definitely be returning to satisfy my breakfast burrito craving very soon and if this is what you're looking for - stop reading reviews and go get you one at Lucky Boy (it's served all day).

I always start off my ratings with cleanliness. I worked in a high volume restaurant back in the 70's. If you weren't doing something you were cleaning. Ordered the classic burger, fries and coke. Picked up my order after a short wait. Cleaned off my own table and sat down. Burger looked decent, fries looked amazing and can never say anything bad about a classic coke. First bite of the burger was a little disappointing. Burger was thin and seemed overcooked to me. I thought it was dry. Roll, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo were ok. Not bad overall but for some reason I expected a better burger experience. Let's talk about the fries. Truly classic French fried potatoes. Perfectly cooked. Light golden color. Nice texture and flavor. What every French fry should look and taste like. Coke was great. Sorry to say I was not impressed by the burger. This was my experience on 05/09/2026. Could have been cleaner and maybe the burger not overcooked. Your experience may be totally different.

It was the only place in the area open until 12 and my friends and I left karaoke at 1130. The experience was so bad I cancelled my order. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito for 5.85 and the cashier told me it cost $2.55 to add sour cream and did some extra weird punching in of things at the register and it went from $7 and some change when I initially said, "can you add sour cream" ? Then I all of sudden had a $9 bean and cheese burrito. My friend ordered in Spanish and told them no ice in her horchata. They put a full cup of ice and wrote it on the receipt in Spanish. Not sure if they were laughing at her ordering? Because her accent isn't super strong and she looks Italian - very fair skin w dark hair (still not a reason) but Ella es Panameña, but they laughed the whole time we were there. She also was missing a taco and they charged her for 3 and they took super long to make her food and they were closing in 15 min for 3 little street tacos. People kept coming from the back to the grill and the front register to laugh and speak Spanish (I speak Spanish) but very unprofessional and super rude establishment and environment. Wanted to grab a beer, ask bartender for it and tells me out of stock. Okay that's normal, sometimes the restaurant can't control that. So I then ordered a fountain drink. Finish the transaction, immediately go to the soda machine and pick my first option. I try it, it's pure sparkling water. Go to the second option, pure sparkling water again. I do not ask the bartender for a refund because a massive group of 20 just walked in, I just let it go. Food comes in shortly after I order, boom, next mistake. There's mustard on my hotdog. I didn't want mustard and I asked for no mustard, receipt says no mustard. I try my best to wipe it off and just eat it. Very disappointed in this place, will not be coming back and I do not recommend. Also, one of the bartenders made a fart noise with his mouth and hands towards a regular/his friend.
