Okay, this place truly deserves 5 stars and I can't believe that I never wrote a review for them. I was craving something healthy tonight, because I seriously didn't want to cook after a long day at work. Normally I meal prep, but this just wasn't the time for all that. I literally didn't want to open the fridge nor look at the stove. As soon as I hit Gaffey, I focused on what's healthy and Waba is the number one spot for that. I'm actually disappointed that I haven't gone more often, but I forget about them, all tucked nicely between 6th and 7th street. I decided to check the back to see if they had parking and I am happy to report that they have an entire lot back there and it's well lit! Bonus points, because I hate parking on Gaffey. Thankfully, they also have an entrance from the back, but it's only open until 7:00pm. After that, you have to walk around to the front, but that's understandable for late at night. The restaurant is consistently clean and I've never seen it otherwise. They do have a restroom for customers, just ask for the code at the front register. The girl who greeted me at the register (Andrea) was super nice, including the cook, because she greeted me on my way in, as I held the door for her to take the trash out. One thing I really appreciated was how pretty they made my plate, not just slapping it on there and handing it to you. The side salad was so pretty! The presentation was not what I expected! Thank you, Andrea for preparing it so nicely. Their prices are very reasonable and even though it's healthy, it's filling and you don't feel like you're missing out on anything. When you choose a plate, you get a protein, plus rice, a side salad, and fruit. They have different protein choices, such as chicken, ribeye, salmon, shrimp, or tofu. For the bowls, you get a protein and rice and you can add veggies to them or you can make it a veggie bowl and add your protein to that. decided to give this place one last shot, mainly because my step dad was in the mood for it and he offered to buy me something but after this this truly is the last time i will ever come to this spot for a few reasons... 1. when my step dad was there he said the lady up front had no idea what she was doing and that she kept on asking him "is this your order?" when clearly she should be the one knowing which is his order in the first place, that right there just shows that she shouldn't be working there because clearly she has no idea what she is doing as a cashier. 2. they have been tight on food these last few times. apparently a side of shrimp means only 2 pieces however much that costs is just completely not worth it at all. 3. the food was just straight up cold when we got it, even my step dad was quick to point it out. Those three things right there just tells me one thing, the people who work here don't give a you know what. As seen in the picture the sauce on the tofu was very excessive. I usually don't like that much sauce but it wasn't that BIG of an issue. However the tofu tastes absolutely disgusting! You would think it's undercooked but i refuse to believe that b/c i watched them cook it for a reasonable amount of time which leads me to believe this tofu was either expired or had not been refrigerated in proper temperature. read more
