Not very appetizing at all. First....the inside was loud and cold. Tables had food scraps on them and the floor needed cleaning. I ordered a premium plate (beef and chicken). I couldn't tell if it was beef that I was eating. It was black in color. Probably from being soaked so long in teriyaki sauce. The chicken....better but still dripping in teriyaki. Great place for a healthy bite to eat, the portions are pretty big and i can never finish the chicken teriyaki bbq on my own. Good and quick teriyaki style bowls and plates, the Waba sauce is better than normal teriyaki sauce. They have tofu as well for vegetarians. I like the Waba plate with the chicken and beef mix but honestly the beef waba plate or bowl is delicious. The plate comes with a slice of orange and a small kale salad on a bed of rice. I'm not sure what to classify this restaurant as. Originally it was Mediterranean now it's Asian fusion. I don't know but the food is so delicious. Well most of it I'll get into it in a bit. The waba plate is the go to! So much meat piled on a bed of rice the plate is the #3 and it will serve 2 people so it saves $$$ ordering 1 plate. Now for all the greedy non-sharing types or the folk enjoying their meals in peace alone. There is the waba bowl which is pretty much a half serving of the plate enough for 1 person. The chicken and the steak are great and the sauce it's covered in is amazing. But! (Here's where some of the foods take a turn) I wouldn't recommend the salmon plates. I am an avid sushi lover and their salmon (the one and only time I tried it) was old and still tasted dirty. I've also had the short rib plate. Great quality of meat, but the sharp bones where the meat was sliced while frozen, didn't tickle my fancy and the bones where sharp too so it was hard to eat around them I had to pick them out by hand then eat. I'm always looking for delicious vegetarian fare, but WaBa Grill really disappointed. The tofu veggie rice bowl I ordered consisted of mostly brown rice with a couple broccoli spears tossed on top and a dusting of barely cooked carrot slices. Two grilled slabs of totally bland tofu hung out on the side like an afterthought, but hey, it's healthy! I added more sauce, but the bowl still lacked flavor. (If you look at the calorie count, it's all the friggin' rice.) Lame. I want veggies and protein please. Hopefully WaBa Grill will step up their game by marinating their tofu and add some heart to what they're doing. The ambiance, the employees, the drink selection, and the food, especially, lack love. The food plus the customer service here is amazing. The crew here always goes above and beyond everytime i come in. I come to this location about 3 times per week for lunch and they always interact with me, they remember my order, but on top of that the quality of the food everytime is more than fulfilling. I can't help but wonder if the people giving this place 5 star reviews have tasted actual food before. It's not that it's awful, it's just insanely boring - not to mention overpriced. The overhead music is too loud, so the cashier becomes impatient because he/she cannot hear properly. There's always a rush for you to decide on the menu.
