Our food was terrible!!! - the hot and sour soup had no veggies at all - the rice terrible because it was uncooked !!! Dangerous for health and the orange chicken was bland no orange flavor at all - Will never return to this place employees are the rudest ever too!! Bad experience in a rainy day choosing the wrong place to buy food-

Shrimp in Lobster Sauce

My first visit to this establishment was May 23, 2025. It describes itself as a New York style Chinese. When I asked what was meant by New York style, the wait person waved her arms in a circle , smiled and said "bigger." my impression is the majority of their business is Takeaway. Indoor seating is for about 12 people and is casual decor. I dined in and enjoyed it. The kitchen is visible, and is certainly very high energy and high production. The menu has many choices, most of which will look familiar to anybody who does much Chinese dining. I had shrimp with lobster sauce and steamed rice. A very big portion, and nicely cooked shrimp. Price is very reasonable.

Fresh and homemade soup. Chicken meat is tasty too.

Yum! The chicken soup and tempura shrimp and NY egg roll are delicious. Our first time here and we'll be back for more.

Orange tofu and green beans and garlic

Absolutely amazing Chinese food. Fresh and delicious. Go everytime I'm in in LA. Several locations.

Orange Chicken

Hole in the wall Chinese joint that slaps! Only order to go and always ask for extra crispy and extra sauce. Food portion is absurd and will definitely have leftovers! Fast, efficient, delicious, and inexpensive!

This place is terrible. Their kung pao chicken is what nightmares all night on the toilet are about. GROSS!

Low quality food. Nothing special about it. Curry blah. Rice not even great. They need to step it up for that price.

If you have a group, you should also get the potstickers, shumai and steamed dumplings. Each under six dollars. The large three item combo for $12 will feed for two days. Everybody has their favorite, but mine is the spicy fish with tofu, ribs and kung pow chicken. Their fried chicken is also amazing.

This place has the popular gas station Krispy Krunchy Fried Chicken next to the hot Chinese food display. You can get a quick combo from the choices in the window like Panda Express. We tried the Orange Chicken and Beef Broccoli combo bowls and I thought it was pretty tasty. I liked how for your side dish you can choose fried rice, chow mein OR Singapore rice noodles which is what I chose. If you don't want something from the window, you can order à la carte off the menu and they'll make it fresh. Those items that are made to order obviously cost more than the combos. The prices are very reasonable and I look forward to going back to order à later carte items for take out. Other than the somewhat shady parking lot out front, the only other downside is that if the items in the window have been sitting too long, they see out and aren't fresh.

Went early to see if anything opened or if walk-in would be faster, surprisingly they actually had something come available sooner. We opted to sit inside and loved the ambiance. Food - amazing! I read reviews first and watched a couple IG videos so I knew a general idea of what we wanted to order. Glad the server suggested the orange chicken over the walnut shrimp when we were debating it. Chil wontons, absolutely a must get, different from DTF, not crazy spicy but full of flavor and richness. XO fatty noodles, perfect chewiness on the rolled noodles and the flavors were well balanced, we enjoyed them with a little chili paste and the orange chicken as the protein. Orange chicken, soooo much more flavorful than your average Panda Express orange chicken, good sized nuggets of chicken that were crispy and tender at the same time, and the zest livened it up. BBQ pork shank, our server did warn us it's not the easiest to eat, but it's worth it, hard to see cutting it off the bone because it was so dimly lite in the restaurant and your hands will get sticky but once you get chunks off the bone and your bao bun built it's delicious especially when you get the lacquered crispy skin yummm! Only skip for the night was the mango sticky rice. Much rather would've spend $8 on something else. The mango was tart/sour. The sticky rice was too wet and mushy. It was a pass for both of us. Service - our server was awesome. From greeting to end, he was the right amount of attentive and was super helpful with suggestions. Everyone from the food runner to the busser, they were all so nice. From getting us chili paste or to go containers, customer service was on point. Parking - love love that are a few parking spaces right out front. They're metered. But after 8pm it was free so perfect for us. Other than those spaces, there's a lot across the street if you want to risk it or also side streets parking too.

Ambiance is stylish and dim inside, and it started to get quite loud inside. Service was attentive throughout our meal. What we tried: - Beef roll ($22) - with scallion pancake wrapped around wagyu beef, chili mayo, served with a side of beef broth. I loved this one, every bite was a burst of flavors and textures and the combination was so tasty! - Squid ink Xiao long bao ($18) - shrimp and pork dumplings, these were good but pretty standard compared to other XLB I've had - 3 cup chicken ($21) - made with garlic, ginger, green onion, Thai basil, dried chili. The chicken was so tender and the dish super garlicky which I loved. Goes well with rice, but is a bit on the salty side - XO fatty noodles ($20) - rolled chow fun with bean sprouts, garlic chives, and XO sauce. Amazingly garlicky and savory, and I just love the texture of the rolled chow fun Definitely a solid neighborhood spot I find myself coming back to! Metered or neighborhood parking.

My expectations for Chinese food out in the West LA area are not super high but Dong Ting was…read moresurprisingly decent! It is located right between Coco Ichibanya and 10 speed so I would opt to try to find street parking in the neighborhoods just behind the restaurants or metered parking on the main road -- this can get tricky during peak hours though. You have the option of ordering from a tablet right at the front if you're just planning to do take out! It was relatively empty when we got there so we were seated right away and placed our orders with a QR code. Our server was there by herself around 5:30 but the food was prompt with coming out. Portions were HUGE to be honest for the price relative to what you usually expect these days in the LA. - Popcorn chicken: came out piping hot and freshly fried, nice aroma from the fried basil. Solid spot if you're craving Chinese popcorn chicken - Woodear: surprisingly had a nice spicy kick from the chilies, no complaints! - Beef noodle soup with spicy: only a very subtle mala flavor but broth was beefy, noodles had great texture. Only lacking thing were pieces of beef were kind of small but otherwise I was very satisfied - If you spend over $50 you get a free dish (pork dumpling, xialong bao/soup dumpling, or spicy (saliva) chicken. Opted for the xiaolong bao which was okay... meat was on the leaner side and didn't taste fresh but the skin wasn't super overly thick and a decent amount of soup inside Overall, for the value and standard of Chinese food in the west LA area I would come back if I ever wanted something decent local to me! :)

This is a pretty good place to eat in the Japanese centric area of Sawtelle…read more The chicken (fried chicken) is excellent and a good portion. I also tried the noodle soup, which was good. Parking can be easy on the weekdays if you park in the adjacent neighborhood residential streets (watch for parking restriction signs to avoid getting any tickets). The downside to this place in my opinion is the automated "APP" ordering system using a QR reader menu and online ordering. I'd say it would be more personal to have a human being take orders and engage with customers who may have questions and create a friendly vibe. The staff were helpful and friendly, so that wasn't the problem, it's the lack of opportunity for engagement that I think would make this place a bit more warm and fuzzy feeling in atmosphere.
