Omg. This place is the best Chinese food in southern Cali. This place has even delicious real asian white rice. The Chinese chicken salad is so good fresh and crispy lettuce, nice lean chicken their dressing is so good. The Kung Pao shrimp is perfect. The sauce and chilis are fresh. You can bite into them not old and dried up. They serve good portions and their shrimp actually taste like a shrimp should. They are very friendly and their portions are moderate. You will leave feeling satisfied from your moth, belly, and pocket. Anyone looking for good authentic Chinese place must try this place. Tonight's meal was a huge disappointment. My order was delivered with sauce completely spilled and soaking everything inside the bag. The egg roll, soggy and soaked with liquid. The take-out boxes, soggy and soaked. The paper bag completely disintegrated. Please take CARE when packing to-go or delivery orders. Heck, take CARE and PRIDE when packing and serving food for humans! This soggy mess is fit for farm animals - or less! I love Wacky Wok! I have been ordering from them for a few years now and it reminds me so much of another Chinese restaurant I used to go to back in the days, which was located down the street from this location. That spot isn't there anymore but I'm so glad wacky wok makes the same quality food. During Covid lockdown, this is my "go-to" place when I'm really in the mood for a tasty Chinese meal. The chicken fried rice almost mimics the fried rice I used to order at the other place. I love that they add bean sprouts in their fried rice. Not too greasy and the little cubes of white chicken meat is very satisfying to see because some places skimp on their meat. The Kung Pao Shrimp is flavorful. I order mines with smoked chilies and extra peanuts and it's the best Kung Pao shrimp I've had in the Venice/Mar Vista area. The hot and sour soup is nice and spicy. I don't like the fact they add so much bamboo shoots into the soup but the flavors of five spice, soy sauce, and black pepper really melds well and gives the soup a nice bold and rich flavor. There's other dishes I've tried but these are just some of my favorites from Wacky Wok. I recommend ordering from here and trying their food. You will not regret it. As far as service goes, I've eaten here a few times pre quarantine and the staff is so friendly and very attentive. If you get a chance to eat here after everything opens back up again, do so! I've only ever left under 10 yelp reviews over the last 10 years. I blew the dust off my account to warn that this place is probably the worst Chinese food I've had in my life and I've had a lot. Embarrassingly bad. Orange chicken was dry, chow mein was stuck together in a massive clump with some sticky gravy in it I'd never had with chow mein before. Everything was wrong and didn't even taste like the traditional flavors. I could write more but this place isn't worth it. If you were trapped on a desert island in the pacific and the only place to eat was Wacky Wok I'd say just starve to death, this place is that bad. I have been craving Chinese and after reading such good reviews I wanted to try this place. I loved the beef and snow peas but was none of the food I received was worth the price. The spring rolls were uncooked and could not be eaten, the BBQ spareribs were dry and tasteless, I cut the meat off and sauteed it with onions and garlic to add to my beef. The Mongolian beef was exactly the same beef (with same sauce) as the beef chow mein and both were bad. It tasted like meat that was very close to the expiration badly masked by an inadequate sauce. Excellent selection on the menu ranging from dim sum, noodles and rice, and many various dishes. We tried the potstickers, bao, lo mein, and beef fried rice and found it all excellent. It was delivered hot and plentiful, extra sauces and fortune cookies on top. Napkins and forks came with it but no plates (so you'd need to have platterware.) I called to request soy sauce for our delivery since they don't take any modifications online. I was basically berated for calling when Im 'online order', told to 'never call again!' And then this guy hung up on me. It was pretty baffling, even if he was stressed. I am a paying customer so I did call again, shaking it off and asked him not to hang up please - had a super simple request. No edits to the order or questions (which we are also entitled to have, if needed). He screamed about the same thing and hung up again lol.. I thought I was being punked. So I decided soy sauce wasn't worth another verbal attack from this man who clearly wasn't having a good day. Now worst yet, the food finally arrives, and it is less than mediocre. My 1st visit back to wacky wok in a few years. Some History doing my lunch breaks while in the area this was one of my favorite places to seek out was because of the choices of food, flavour and freshness in they way it was prepared. I wanted that same feeling in my order this time. It was just a little after the lunch hour, their were a couple of fireman & policeman which I took as a good sign. So let's get to the food, pork fried rice - it was fresh, the taste was pretty good, I wouldn't throw it out, I'd give it a B over all, the chicken fried rice some rating. The orange chicken not at all what I expected - instead of Nuggets they were like thinly sliced pieces of chicken fried, soft and dried out. Tha Mongolian beef with broccoli - flavourful tender beef like I'd like it however the broccoli was over cooked and too soft but still editable though and I think if you request how you like your broccoli cooked could turn this dishe into a excellent choice. I gave wack wok 3 stars The look of the establishment wasn't inviting or saying we believe in the Quality you expect, no organization when call people for their orders I mean a bit of confusion of who ordered what, and lastly I felt no professionalism, when taking my order or the greeting. This place used to be one that had great ambience, service & great food. The business is under new management since my last visit and not at all what I remembered. This place sucks! The employees are just rude and obnoxious. We made the mistake of giving it another shot tonight, and sure enough they were just as rude as our last visit, messed up our order, and over charged us. I think they should change the name of it to 'Greasy' Wok'....it would be more accurate. Or 'Money Grabby Wok'....because they charge you for EVERYTHING! They just charged us $1 for a packet of duck sauce....yes, 1 packet. And when I questioned it, after I had to ask twice for a receipt (which are usually in Chinese so you can't read it....very clever!) in English, I was told they charge $1 for 1 packet of duck sauce if you don't buy an appetizer. I guess the three main courses we purchased don't count for anything. No wonder this place was empty on a Saturday night in October. I think that the Kung Pao Chicken was about as good as I've had anywhere. The sauce wasn't too sweet, as it seems to be at many places. I actually had a nice tangy savory flavor, with chicken that was on the crispy side. Some places make it with chicken that's been sauted, and not that that's necessarily a bad thing, I much prefer it on the crispy side. Also had chow mein, and again, a simple savory flavor and texture. Will be back to sample more items. read more

I am mostly writing this so I remember never to order from here again. Do you ever order from Chinese and go, meh that was OK. That's how I feel about this place, only it's expensive. I grew up on New York Chinese food, which is arguably some of the best Chinese food in the country. Right now the only orange chicken I actually like in CA is at panda express. Dish was made with pork slices that were battered and deep fried, then was tossed in a wok with green bell peppers, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts. I asked for Brown Rice. I have to admit, that this wasn't my favorite Chinese food recently as there was little taste to the dish and it was very greasy. This was bad enough that it made me angry. If you want "chinese take out" that you might find in Nebraska, West Virginia, or some other location where people don't know what Chinese food tastes like, this is for you. Pure junk food. Not comfort food, which can be made well, but simply junk food. McDonald's is junk food, but they pour millions of dollars into R&D and engineering. Wacky Wok does not, obviously. Don't order delivery through this place , they quote one price on the delivery app then when the driver gets there they adjust it and charge more! On top of that the food isn't good, I think I know why there are complaints about the taste.
