Here is a tip. There is a Target, CVS, and Walgreens in the area. Purchase your own whip cream. What this place charges for whip cream is the price of a can in some places. The ambiance is best enjoyed during the summer. Receiving your order is usually very quick from when you place the order. These wafels are pretty good! I had a couple of big work deadlines and wanted coffee at an hour at which nearly all coffee shops nearby had closed. I used this to justify ordering Wafels and Dinges on Caviar because lo and behold, they have coffee. This felt like one of those decisions involving a lot of rationalization when I really just used it as an excuse to have a waffle delivered to my apartment. I was a little wary because I'd heard that the wafels were not as good unless eaten straight from the cart. I ordered the WMD waffle with bananas, strawberries, whipped cream, and fudge. I got a macchiato as well. The waffle and toppings arrived very nicely packaged. The macchiato was wrapped very securely in Saran Wrap-nice! I was initially a little disappointed with having to add the toppings myself (I know, this review is exposing the depths of my laziness) but they cut the bananas and strawberries in very thin slices so that it's basically fool-proof to top the wafel. Check out my picture to see what a home wafel looks like-you basically can't have an ugly or totally disappointing wafel. The wafel itself was nice! I was impressed at the pockets of airiness within the waffle and the webs of spun sugar within the batter. The toppings were also very fresh even late in the evening. The whipped cream comes flavored with something I can't place but that was very nice. The macchiato was an A+. I would like to try Wafels and Dinges at some point in person. Even if that doesn't happen, I'm very satisfied with the delivery experience with Wafels and Dinges. On our hunt for the Met on our NYC vacation, we ran across the Wafels and Dinges cart. Cute! It was an unexpected surprise on a slightly chilly day as we journeyed to find the iconic museum. Hubby had "de Bom" while I had a waffle cone with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I also got a Belgian Hot Chocolate...best hot chocolate I've ever had! They serve it with a mini cookie to dip in your cocoa. I wish I could have sampled a few other items but I wanted to save my appetite for Joe's Shanghai for some soup dumplings after. Most awesomest wafflest waffles ever!! I had bookmarked this cart before going to NYC, but when I saw that it was a cart I thought it was gonna be a moving food truck that I would never find. But walking out of Central Park on the way to the Apple store, lo and behold there it was right there!! He got the waffle ice cream sandwich with gingerbread waffle, or was it gingerbread ice cream?? I got the WMD waffle with unlimited dinges! I just asked the worker to make me something, whatever was the best combo. They were super nice by the way! He put spekuloos spread, strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate and powdered sugar. I don't know how, but they forgot about my order, even though I was standing right there. The guys were really sorry about it though, and gave me a free scoop of ice cream. We made the mistake of ordering the WMD, with all of the "dinges" minus nutella, syrup, and butter. Even so, the waffle disintegrated into a soggy mess in the time it took us to dig through all of the toppings. What a yummy mess it was, though. After our trip to Belgium, I slowly became resigned to the fact that I would probably never taste a proper Liege waffle again until we returned to Brussels. *cue quiet weeping* Lucky me, I was wrong. I WOULD taste another Liege waffle before our next hop across the pond - and that waffle came from Wafels and Dinges. My husband and I stalked them on Twitter and we found them at the southern tip of Central Park. Waffle Heaven, yippie! The first time we found the truck we got plain Lieges with powdered sugar, which were divine. They were sticky on the outside (from the caramelized sugar) and dense and fluffy on the inside. If heaven was ever incarnated in a food form, this is it. The next time we found the truck (we are total freaks) we got the Liege waffle with Speculoos Spread. What is Speculoos Spread, you ask? It's crack in spreadable form. I say that about a lot of things (I love nut butters), but this was truly one of a kind. It's basically gingerbread cookies ground up into a spreadable paste. Really. It's as good as it sounds - it gets all melty when it gets warm, too...so it's perfect on these waffles. I'm trying to procure some of this stuff for my personal stash...it's incredibly good. If you are in NYC you need to seek out this truck, and prepare to have your mind blown. FYI: They also have REALLY good iced coffee. But come for the waffles. read more

There I was, heading south on the food truck-depraved 2nd Avenue in midtown, surrendered to the idea of a cheap lunch from Dunkin Donuts, when I stumbled across Wafels and Dinges. Now, I enjoy waffles (wafels) and, moreover, I adore things (dinges), so I had to give them a try. Some of the items on their menu were out of season, so I did have a bit of trouble ordering at first. I eventually just ordered off of the daily specials menu and got the Big Boy (pulled pork with BBQ sauce and cole slaw). The waffle was crispy and chewy, the pulled pork was tender, and the flavorful BBQ sauce pulled it all together. I was a little dismayed at the amount of cole slaw (it went right on the waffle) since I usually stay far away from the stuff, but I tried a little bit and, even for a cole slaw naysayer, I had to admit that it was pretty good. I must come back and try a sweet waffle sometime; that spekuloos stuff sounds crazy good. Wafels and dinges for the win-ges! Update: Yes, I finally tried the spekuloos and yes, it was awesome. I've been a fan since foreeeever (forever being since 2009, before they won the Vendy Awards) and truly watched them grow into the multiple vehicles they have now amassed and even running their own tours in Gowanus (highly recommend any fan to do that! It's like $5/$10 and you can make your own wafel!). I love the WMD - my recommendation is just to get the Liege waffle with any toppings your heart desires (and the speculoos, please get the speculoos). I prefer the Liege over the Brussels, as it is softer. The Brussels is denser and harder to sink my teeth into. If you want a waffle + ice cream creation, get the speculoos ice cream. (SPECULOOS EVERYTHING, ESSENTIALLY.) The staff are the cutest, always smiling while making my heavenly creation. Tip: Look online as to how to get a free dinges! I had the basic waffle with speculoos+bananas and enjoyed my food :) The waffles are dense and chewy but not so much that they can't be cut with a cheap plastic fork and knife.
