Its in the Austin Airport. I live in Atlanta so Im used to fancy restaurants in the Airport. This definitely isnt a fancy spot and the cost is what youd expect in a burger joint at the airport. We spent $120 on three burgers combos, two sweet teas and a beer. It was prepared quickly and at the table within about ten minutes of ordering. Our server was attentive and bought us the check almost as soon as he dropped off the food. I imagine you have to be mindful that ultimately people have a flight to catch and dont want to wait until the last minute to pay. This is in the airport so take this review with a grain of salt. The burger was poorly cooked and incredibly mediocre. The service was terrible. You sit down and they rush you to order and check out. Our server asked if we could check out quickly because she needed to pick up her child from school. I understand employees need to clock out but we literally hormone burger set down and then were handed a check. I couldn't used at least 10 minutes to eat my meal before I was rushed out. Unsuccessful at finding a way to connect to tell Hutch that I found a piece of plastic in my mouth from their hamburger after getting on my plane, this was the only alternative to let them know. And of course they're not even on the scale of what the original Hudson Austin used to be. Hut's originally opened in downtown Austin in the 30's & moved to West Sixth in the 60's. That location closed in 2019. Luckily, there is a remaining location inside the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport where you can still get some of the classics. The food is still good with a flavor of nostalgia that makes for a good way to relax whilst waiting for a flight. Like what could be better than a belly full of delish fries and burgers? I ordered a hamburger, Diet Coke and an old-fashioned. When I got soda, I took a sip and it tasted horrible. I told her I did not think that it was a Diet Coke. The waitress informed me that it was a Pepsi zero or some such thing. I get but not every restaurant is going to have Diet Coke....but tell me and don't get weird when i complain about the taste. No wait, decent spacing of seats, and good food. My server was very attentive even though he was clearly very busy with multiple customers. He gave me good food recommendations and so I ended up going with the "Hut's Favorite" burger and it didn't disappoint! For me the ratio of bun to burger wasn't overwhelming, the flavor was there, and the temperature which it was delivered to me at was appreciated. If you don't like meat prepared beyond Medium then you may not enjoy it. Also, the fries were quite tasty. I would definitely eat here again. read more

We were flying out of the airport at ten this morning and this was the first place we saw when we entered through security so we figured we would give it a try for breakfast. They have about eight options for breakfast. I went with the Hutch, which was a breakfast sandwich with a fried egg, sausage patty, hash brown, and bun. It was very tasty. My husband had the breakfast skillet which had home fries, peppers, onions, scrambled eggs and cheese. He also said it tasted good. The coffee was also hot and strong. I remember the days of Huts downtown before developers came in and took Huts and Angies Pizza. Two haunts of old Austin. So when I saw Huts at the ABIA airport I was so excited. Should checked Yelp first. I had the Dagwood Burger and the double decker is under seasoned and unnecessarily thick patties. But it was close memory of days past. Fries totally sucked. What a weird experience. I get that it's a restaurant in an airport, but no one really was acting like they were wanting to be there. As far as staff went. I went with the chicken tenders thinking they would be hard to screw up. They were not what I was expecting at all. Inside the breading was some foamy like chicken similar to a McDonald's nugget. There are lots of options at the Austin Airport, and this is one of them. That sums it up! The waitress was a rock star with drink refills and always asking if I needed something and even bringing the check with the food so I could pay and get out when I needed to. She knows how airport travelers think. I was in the mood for a great burger and this place looked like it might fit the bill. This sit down restaurant was small and cramped but I was lucky enough to snag a spot at a high top table that had electrical outlets on the side! I could charge my phone AND myself! Nice. I also had a good view of the afternoon entertainment (acoustic guitar playing and singing). I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes and onions and it came out rather quickly. The burgers came with fries so I upgraded to the loaded cheese fries (cheese, bacon, jalapeños) for an additional $6, which was a bit much, but it was so good. This place was pricey! I stopped by Hut's for breakfast before a flight. I have to admit, the skillet scramble was one of the better airport breakfast meals that I've had. Pricing is a bit higher end since you're in an airport - including tip, tax and coffee it was about $30. The environment is pretty basic, very flat and hard seating, and the windows overlook the runway. The oddest part about the restaurant is the service. The hostess was distracted by her phone and seemed annoyed that we were there, and Anthony W while being very efficient also seemed a bit put off. Old timer that remembers the original Hut's downtown. This comes across as not even close. They charge $20.49 for a burger that is dry and flavorless. Then they charge $.69 for a small sauce that most consider included. It's way over crowded with too many tables. For five of us the bill was $140 plus tip. Service was the only good part. read more

Huts always has good old fashioned tasting hamburgers and today was not a disappointment. However, I lowered my rating to four starts because of a couple of minor things. First, the cutback on serving size, as the tomatoes were the thinnest I've ever seen. They must have one of those genesi knives I see advertised on tv. The amount of meat is low, probably 4 oz. The fries were plentiful and good however. I also want to register a complaint about those uncomfortable tables for two. They have a cross bar placed at the knees and you have to sit back and pull your legs away from the table to get comfortable and avoid knee damage (see pic). Who designs a table rhis way? My dissatisfaction was NOT the food it was an obnoxious waitress who from the gate looked stressed out. You know the thing that kills me, are employees who are obviously not happy where they work. This lady meets that criteria in my opinion. Now remember this is an airport eatery. It was dinner time and I had my lovely wife with me. I take a seat and I see this lady hovering over me with no hello or good evening. Her first words out of her mouth was..."Did you already see the hostess already!" As she was saying this she was arranging my backpack that may have created an obstacle. I'll eat that one. However, that does not mitigate a rude question without properly addressing the customer with perhaps a good evening or a hello. My wife was already going to order our food but this lady made an assumption that I was not going to eat and occupy a table. My wife also got bad vibes from her demeanor. We left to eat elsewhere. Coming back to Texas from a 2 week vacation to Key West, Miami and 11 days at sea in the Western Caribbean, Columbia, Panama Canal, and Yucatan, well, I was having severe hamburger withdrawals. Three, this place looks the way a burger joint SHOULD look! Side salad was out in a flash and it was really good lettuce! It made the perfect last resting spot for the upcoming burger. Then out came the burger, thick, slightly sweet toasted bun, ripe tomato slices, crisp cool lettuce, cheese melting and, well, that burger didn't languish in the basket for long!
