Her behavior was disappointing and lacked compassion for someone with an invisible disability. After speaking with the manager and explaining that we were willing to wait for a suitable table, they were able to accommodate us without issue. This made it clear that the request was not unfeasible--it simply needed to be handled with a little understanding. To make matters worse, once we were seated, the hostess threw the menus onto the table and walked away without saying anything. It felt disrespectful and unnecessary, especially considering the circumstances. My hope is simply that staff receive more education about invisible disabilities and the challenges many veterans face after their service. A little kindness, patience, and empathy can make a significant difference for guests living with conditions that aren't always visible.
