I have NEVER spent that much on Waffle House before. The lady at the to go window did not want to let us physically inside the restaurant because "since I am the only one here I would have to clean the table". They also charge a mandatory 20% service fee for to go orders so beware that you do not double tip for the sub-optimal service. I will not be coming back to this location. I went to the Waffle House and ordered a waffle. What the waitress served was a yellow, 1/8 inch thick and undone object The marks were barely visible. My friend is a big fan of WH and hers was a little better, not much though.. The waitress, when serving did not blink an eye or make a remark and I was not only amazed at how anyone could serve that kind of inedible junk is beyond me. The one thing that stood out to me when we came in to the place was the chatter going on at the grill with visitors talking to the grill man and I made the assumption that good times are not a part of today;s world, and with that I guess good food is not a part of it as well. I am giving WH !/4 point for poor food served by a waitress who did not care and a grill person who did not care as well. To this day my friend stands up for you and I will never go there again. So this is the late night spot for those late night study sessions or a "I want a waffle" moment. The food is always good. Southern breakfast - sticks to your ribs - falling asleep in a rocking chair food. But the service changes a lot because the staff is always changing. There are some warm friendly types and then there are a few "I hate my job but it pays to work" types. Thankfully the grumpy people never seem to last long. For me - enjoying the experience means sitting at the bar - preferably the right-most swivel. This seat affords exceptional vistas overlooking the dishwasher station, panoramic displays down the kitchen galley, and when 180 degrees from the action - the lively intersection of Tennessee and Ocala. Customer service is taken seriously here. Whether at a slow-point or in the veritable weeds, servers and cooks alike are apt to greet you as you come in. I went to Waffle House close to 2 AM and surprisingly, there weren't that many people in there, so I assumed it would be fast. I ordered my food to go and it took over half an hour for them to prepare my All Star. When I received the food, they didn't include everything in my order so I had to wait even longer. Also, there were about 3-4 dirty tables that no one cleaned off for others to sit down. It started to get really busy and they could've easily avoided some problems by having those tables available to customers. read more

They had limited options due to hurricane michael but still when we ordered our food which consisted of eggs, harsh browns, and bacon with toast the food was absolutely disgusting! Tried calling this location about a half dozen times to place a to go order. Frustrated and starving, I opted to just drive up to see what was preventing any of the staff from answering the phone. As it turns out, 3 staff were conversing over food while the other two slowly prepared food for the 3 people in the restaurant. The manager cashed out a drawer and passed me off to one of the two working at a snails pace. It took 10 minutes to get my order down and paid for, and another 15 to prepare it. All the while, their phone incessantly rings off the hook. I watched as the manager, both active workers, and the three enjoying their meal all looked at the phone and carried on at least a half dozen times. I even called while waiting just to make sure the number was correct. One of the active workers did finally answer it, once, but then continued to ignore it after that. It's also the best place in town to people watch at 2am after college students have left area nightclubs.
