Interesting little place, a fast-casual hole in the wall that's essentially a slightly upscale Idaho version of that southern staple place Waffle House. Unlike your average Waffle House, this place is very clean. It's good, the portions aren't super generous, but tasty. The place is kind of a one-note "let's do one thing well" sort of place; that basically means that the menu is endless variations of how to dress up a waffle, plus chicken or a fried egg, and avocado toast. For me, it's more of a place to snack than get a meal, maybe ideal for a post-drinking binge destination. I kind of wish they had a bigger meal option for the bigger eater, but not my restaurant. These are not your run of the mill waffle. These things will expand your definition of what a waffle can be from every aspect. Yeast in the waffle? Check. Blueberry lime sauce with whipped cream? Dropped in after a soccer game since we had an appetite for some carbs. This place is a to go style. You order at a counter and then you eat at simple tables. Decor is plain and not much. Was clean inside and the staff was very friendly. The menu sounded awesome and was hard to decide. They didn't have a lot of simple egg options. The did have a savory selection which offered a variety of sandwich like items. We brought the kids and they had a minimal kids menu. The waffles were super dense and heavy. Not what I expect from a waffle. The flavor was similar to a funnel cake. The fruit was fresh and delightful. Order a side fried egg but they had no salt or pepper on the table or up on the counter and the staff was too busy to help. Just ate the egg plain . My son got the fried chicken which had a burnt flavor for the crispy outside and the fries tasted bad like the oil hadn't been changed in days and recooked in. We arrived to waffle love shortly before closing and ordered dine in and the lady at the register promptly said we are about to close making it seem like she didn't want us dining in so we took our food to go, i am very disappointed with the quality of food. Our waffles are almost rock solid to the point we can't even cut them with a fork and knife and it's almost impossible to eat. The french fries are soggy but at the same time burnt and black on the outside. I am VERY disappointed and unsatisfied with the quality of food we have received. We just feel kind of eh about this place. I love liege waffles and have a great affinity for the little storefront in downtown Boise, so I was excited to stop in. The menu is HUGE, so it may be that we just happened to choose ok options. My husband got a croissant breakfast waffle with eggs and sausage; he was really disappointed that the croissant didn't crisp up at all in the waffle iron, and that everything was so drowned in syrup. I tasted his and had to agree that it was definitely not a savory mouthful, so if that's what you're hoping for, it's kind of a bummer. I recently moved from Phoenix back to Boise and was so happy to see Waffle Love was in my new neighborhood!! This location is super clean, new, and had a great menu. My mom was a first timer and Sabrina went out of her way to give us the low down on everything they do. She was super friendly and made us feel welcome. I am the QUEEN of waffles and have them all over town and on any out of town adventure (just say no to pancakes). I've had the chicken and waffles here 3x (I cant make myself order anything different -yet) and my date has had the waffle with ice-cream and the one with berries and whipped cream- allll of them are amazing. Our visit was highly disappointing. I took my husband and 2 kids for a late snack/dessert on Tuesday night. It was 7:30 and they close at 8:00. When we walked in the door, the female worker let out a big sigh, like she wasn't happy to see us near closing time. She unhappily took our order as she rested her head on her elbow and just stared at us. We did get our food quickly, but the waffles were hard as rocks. We couldn't even cut them with a knife, which leads me to believe they weren't made fresh for us. We ordered 3 meals and paid way too much to be treated that poorly, made to feel uncomfortable for even coming in, and then given food that wasn't fresh. We had a couple of beers last night at Loose Screw, and Waffle Love was taking orders for food to be delivered there from their restaurant. Our order got completely botched, and 45 minutes later we were told, "Oops, we missed your order, and will get it as quick as we can." We were not happy, to say the least. Well, about 20 minutiae later, the owner of Waffle Love, Stephanie (sp?) approached us with bags of fun waffle food (far more than we had ordered). She was very apologetic, indicated that she had refunded our meal costs, and thanked us for our patience. This kind of business behavior is so rare, and so appreciated. Her business is still coming up to speed, they stumbled, but recovered well. And the food is SO YUMMY!!! We should all be supporting these kinds of quality small businesses.
