Their branch in NOMAD is huge; it boasts a two-story floor with several cocktail bars. On our visit, they had a promotion called "Taste of Wagamama." It's a four-course dinner of edamame, 2 baos of fried chicken and mushrooms, and a choice between chicken yakisoba or chicken curry. It was accompanied by 3 flights of sake and a sake-based cocktail for $30. Our group of 4 all agreed to have it. We first ordered chili calamari and bang bang cauliflower with a bottle of sake to start. Both appetizers were delicious. It was the cauliflower that stood out; it was crunchy, and the spice was just right. Just lunched here today and have to drop my rating. The menu changed and they are now charging for items that used to be included in the Ramen. I ordered the potsticker ramen and all I received was a very salty broth, noodles with tidbits of cilantro and potstickers. The portion was still big, but mostly noodles and salt. Friends had to pay extra for eggs and bok choy. The order took a while to arrive. We each ordered a ramen dish along with crispy rice tuna. The crispy rice tuna tasted very good. Two of the girls received their Ramen about 10 minutes after ordering it and the third girl received her Ramen about five minutes after. I received mine eight minutes after the third person received hers. My Ramen was missing the snap peas and I requested that they bring me the snap peas. Apparently the kitchen was out of them and instead of offering a substitute they just gave me Ramen with just noodles and my potstickers so I requested that they substituted for something else at no additional cost. I asked for the bok choy and I did receive it and that took an additional 10 minutes to get. They did not charge me for it. I was very disappointed and we will be trying a different Ramen place for the noodle soup. I may still come back here for other items. There is a new Ramen place that opened down the street on fifth Avenue and there is also one on third Avenue that has been on our radar, but since we loved Wagamama so much, we decided to dine here. Here, it was cozy- ask for a table deeper inside in these cold winter weeks- and we warmed up with bowls of ramen - mine was chicken gyoza, a little too sweet but it balanced out with the spicy broth and my husband had the duck - gorgeous leg of duck that was perfectly cooked - and lemongrass ginger infusions . After reading a few so-so Yelp reviews I was hesitant about this place but we had just left the Harry Potter store in the Flatiron District and wanted noodles! The restaurant was spacious and modern. The upper level with cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling was gorgeous. We were seated immediately and the waiter took our order for apps. We had the pork gyoza and the bao buns with pork and apple. The fried apple created such an interesting flavor explosion! Really tasty! Gyoza was fabulous! We ordered the chicken gyoza ramen but asked him to make it not spicy. Very flavorful chicken broth and, again, the gyoza was fantastic. This place is a little pricey, but the quality is top notch. I will say the menu was varied but not a lot that suited my tastes. There were only 3 or 4 choices I would have wanted to order. If you have picky eaters in your party, review the menu first. Ask the server for the pre-fix menu and for $30 you will have a cocktail, edamame as an appetizer, two baos, a main course and a flight of three sakes to go with it. And if you are thinking the quantities are small, you are wrong! The baos were regular size (by the way, the mushroom bao is out of this world - 10/10) and the entree was huge. I opted for the vegetarian option so one of the baos was sweet potatoes instead of fried chicken and for the entree I chose the veggie katsu. They accommodate dietary restrictions and there seems to be something for everyone on the menu. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. I really liked it. The vegetable curry was good,not-great. I liked the crispiness of the vegetables, though the curry sauce was nothing special (pretty similar to the homemade curry you can make with the little roux cubes).
