Lunch special katsu
Kevin O.

LUNCH SPECIAL. I work in the area and decided I wanted Hawaiian food. Ono and L&L are way too far to make it back to work on time so I chose Waikiki. Kind of a sad looking place, no music, no people, dim lighting, but the lunch special is pretty decent considering how expensive everything in the area is. The chicken katsu lunch special is around 10 bucks after tax and comes with a scoop of mac and rice. You get a whole filet of katsu chicken. The chicken was tender and exterior crispy.

Chicken katsu with double rice and teriyaki chicken for $23

We've been going here for years, I'm glad they're still in business since a lot of my favorite spots have closed or moved locations. They have great portions and reasonable pricing. The food is made fresh to order and I feel like that its healthier than burgers and fries. The guys working remember us and that's nice.

Chicken Katsu

Absolutely hit the spot! We ordered the chicken katsu and the barbecue chicken & beef combo, and everything was fantastic. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and paired so well with the sauce. The BBQ chicken was tender and full of that sweet, smoky flavor, and the beef was just as delicious - super flavorful and cooked just right. Portions were generous, the food came out hot and fresh, and it really felt like comfort food done right. Definitely coming back next time we're craving Hawaiian barbecue!

Chicken & veggies

I toggled back and forth between 3 stars and 4 stars (I wish there was a half star) but I'm going with 3 because although there was only one thing that wasn't great, it's one pretty important thing... the meat (chicken) and veggies in my bowl was not hot. I wouldn't even say it was fully warm. There was definitely warm spots but there were also cool (almost cold) spots. When the food isn't hot it always makes me wonder how long it's been sitting out AND how long it's been sitting out at the incorrect temperature. I took a couple of bites (from the bottom which was closest to the rice, which was hot) and will say the taste was great, I'd definitely go back and give it another try. The service was also very friendly and quick.

Outside. Plenty of shopping strip parking.

Tasty but charging $13 for only 5oz of chicken in their chicken bowl is obscene. Their portions for protein have completely gone way down.

The Cucumber Watermelon Lemonade (alcoholic) did not disappoint! Super refreshing and definitely very 'watermelony' lol As for my Loaded Jumbo Sweet Potato with pulled pork... yeah, 'jumbo' is exactly the right word . I had to save the other half for later lol. But I really enjoyed the mix of the sweet potato's sweetness with the savory flavors of everything else. I'd definitely come back and try more of the menu!

We were told to sit wherever we want. I decided to get the 3 item combo with tri-tip, brisket, & jalapeño cheese sausage link. Sides were a loaded baked potato and Mac & cheese. While I'm waiting for my food checking out the sauces they have to offer thinking of sauce is in the name this gotta be their game. 4 different kinds of sauce Kansas City BBQ spicy and not spicy, sweet & tangy, & a tangy mustard. Sauce were meh.. they could've been store bought and I wouldn't have know the difference. I've had some good sauces all over the country. My go to sauce would've been the Kansas City Spicy. Food comes out and the presentation looked great! Tried the sausage as I am an aficionado and the crunch the snap of the sausage was very good. Taste was as good loved the cheese ooze. Tried the brisket and it was luke warm at best. Taste was also not there. Didn't taste smoked, seasoned, and really fatty. Moved on to the tri-tip which was cold also! Was really surprised with no customers that the food was cold and didn't understand why. Dipped into the baked potato which looked delicious but then tasted like it was microwaved to melt the cheese. Flavor wasn't there and desperately needed some salt and pepper which there was none on the table. The mac and cheese was decent. Really hoped on my first visit this would've been a nice BBQ spot that I could frequent since it in my neighborhood but lacked the quality I desired in a repeat visitor. Sauced BBQ & Spirits will not be a must visit again unless it's for the spirits. 2 stars

There are two tables outside on a tiny patio and a multitude of tables inside. Our lunch visit didn't start off that great. The staff seemed overwhelmed and not that happy to see us, but we found out later it was because they had a rush of unexpected large parties with a small team. Once things calmed down, staff were more friendly. We shared the two meat combo. We chose brisket and ribs, and a very generous portion arrived on a paper lined quarter sheet pan. The brisket was fork-tender, and had just the right amount of smoky flavor. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone and delicious. Both meats benefited greatly from the delicious barbecue sauce on the table. One small note would be for them to consider a different kind of bottle for the sauce or maybe don't fill them so full. It makes a drippy mess when one pours the sauce. We ordered coleslaw, mac & cheese, and cornbread as sides. The coleslaw was first rate, fresh and crunchy with the right amount of acid to cut through the richness of the meat. The mac & cheese was comforting and creamy, made with a great choice of cheeses. The cornbread for me was too sweet. It was more like cake than cornbread (reminded me of Jiff cornbread mix) but that's a personal preference not necessarily a negative. The place offers an interesting, curated selection of beers and ales. I didn't try any because I didn't want to drink in the middle of the day, but definitely would be worth exploring. There's ample parking, but can be a challenge during peak hours, and if you're not tech savvy it can get frustrating when you do find a parking spot. I admit, with all of the other Yelp reviews, I had mixed feelings about going to this bbq joint. Their menu was very expansive. I tried their bbq ribs, corn bread, and brisket. I wasn't disappointed, but it could be better. This place has potential, and the customer service certainly was a hit or miss. My ribs were a little bit dry, corn bread was a tiny muffin shape, and that was dry. The brisket was delicious, and that was a hit! Located in the Orange Circle, I loved the location. One of the very few "Mom and Pop" shops and restaurants in the area. Overall, my dining experience was so-so. This place is a one and done for me. Food and service are a 3.5. I'm being generous with my 4 Stars! Enough said....

We ordered a BBQ plate, cornbread (that comes with 4), and their own home brewed root beer . Damnation plate comes with choice of 3 meats, choice of 2 sides, and corn bread. You add an extra $2 for premium tier meats. For the meats we ordered brisket, tri-tip, and pork belly. For the sides we got the coconut creamed corn and smoked mashed potatoes. I enjoyed that the meat was cut almost to bite size pieces. Pork belly at a BBQ joint is unique to offer. We enjoyed its flavor and taste. The coconut creamed corn is delicious. Very unique and first time trying. We enjoyed the savory corn with the sweetness to the coconut milk. The mashed potatoes were very subtle to the smokiness. Slightly gummy. Cornbread was a tad dry. Fresh brewed Brew Hawg Rootbeer I really enjoyed. Not overly sweet. It's very hard to find a place that brews their own Rootbeer. Again, I say the service was amazing. When we were done eating, the lady behind the counter gave us some banana pudding to try. Thank you. The service is memorable. We will definitely be back.

But fine Pork ribs : 7/10 Side dish was a runny Mac and cheese: 4/10 Onion rings are pretty perfect. Thick slices with crunchy panko-ish breading. Onion rings 10/10 Brisket plate with 2 sides: sweet potatoes and beans The brisket over all was salty and a bit dry. We were served two fatty pieces from the middle. And a couple not so fatty ones from the ends. Those were dry. The fattier ones were better. But still really salty. Wasn't a fan Brisket 5/10 Beans: a bean medley?!? Multiple variety of evens. Ketchup is served in little plastic cups.. as opposed to a squeeze bottle. The onion rings don't actually fit in the cups to dip them in ketchup. So.. yeah that's annoying. Bbq sauce is also served in those little cups. Where are the squeeze bottles of sauce lol. At least they don't charge for bbq sauce like heritage does. All in all was nice to get a new place.
