Co-worker and I decided to try out Wake Up Cafe the other day as we were in the area. The food was alright, nothing to write home about. I thought overall it was bland. The chile verde on the huevos rancheros was pretty good but everything else was a bit lacking. The service was by far the worst part. It was several minutes before anyone even acknowledged us when we first walked in. Then they told us to wait a minute so they could clean a table. The server cleared the table then went around to several other tables dropping off drinks, food, checks etc. before finally wiping down our table and seating us. It was nearly an hour from the time we ordered until the food was put in front of us. It was painfully slow and definitely not worth the wait. We barely saw the server and after eating we finally just walked up to the front and told them we needed our check because we were running late and they hadn't brought it to us despite us finishing our meal and them clearing down our table nearly 10 minutes earlier. I don't think I'll be back the service is just really poor for food that isn't worth that kind of hassle. read more

I was really excited to eat here based on reviews and honestly I cannot say the service wasn't good or the taste of my meal. My only complaint is is that our food was cold. I had chile verde chilaquiles the whole plate was cold the sauce the chips and beans. Maybe the food was sitting there for a while idk. My peanut butter banana waffle was delicious, although the country potatoes were a bit underwhelming as far as seasoning went. I think I would have enjoyed the hash browns more. Husband enjoyed his omelette, and my dad enjoyed his ham steak. The staff was super friendly, and they were very accommodating of our large party. We were surprised to see that a new restaurant had gone into this location as we had been faithful patrons of the previous business. But we decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad that we did. The menu has a Mexican food presence without being one note, and even though it was lunchtime, we were grateful that breakfast was still available. I decided to be brave and try something new, deciding on the Chile Verde omelette with crispy hash brown potatoes and toast. I am pretty wimpy when it comes to spicy foods so I did ask for a little sour cream on the side, and the meal was delightful. It was especially nice that the owner came over to check and see how we were doing. There was no way that I could finish all of my food but I didn't want to waste it, so to go boxes were brought and two days later, I took the rest of the Chili Verde, and made a bean and chili burrito which I topped with tomatoes, avocado and black olives. I really cannot say enough about Wake up Cafe! My husband and I went for breakfast this morning, and the place was hopping. Even though it appeared pretty busy, we were sat within minutes. Our drink order was taken quickly, and our food was out in 10 minutes. The service was wonderful, and the food was really good as well. I got the Anaheim omelette (it had Anaheim chiles and jack cheese inside) and hubby got the chili verde omelette. Both were The chili verde has a nice heat! Went in on a Saturday morning around 10am. It was busy, but they got you in fairly quick! This was about the only interaction we got the rest of the morning They sat us at our table and left us without menus. This was our first time there, so we didn't know what they had so my husband had to get up and get us some after we sat there a good 3-4 minutes. A guy came to get our drink order (not our server) and that's when I had to ask for a kids menu after not seeing one on the main menu (the ones my husband had to go get himself). We got our drinks and still hadn't met our server. A group of 6 sat down in another area about 10 min after us and got their food/drink orders taken immediately. The guy server in this area seemed on top of his tables. The couple sitting next to us when we got seated barely started placing their order (they were there maybe 5 min before we were seated, which I thought they placed their order and turns out didn't). After they finally placed their order, we waited maybe 5 mooore minutes until ours were finally taken. Food came out fairly quickly, which was good! But now we had to request silverware because none were provided for us This seems like elementary restaurant stuff ‍ I got the chicken fried steak with biscuit/gravy, husband got a sandwich, and baby boy got chocolate chip pancakes. Chicken fried steak was good! Nothing I'd write home about, but I wasn't disappointed. Biscuits and gravy was BOMB! I really enjoyed that. My husbands fries were also SUPER delicious! Everything else was just average. I do NOT recommend getting the iced coffee. It tasted like watered down sugar with hardly any coffee. Bleh! The service continued to rock (sarcasm) with our server checking in on us when we were about 3/4 of the way through our meal. We saw her again when she gave us the check, which she tossed on our table without a care in the world. Honestly, this is the worst service I've had at a restaurant in a while. This was a BAD experience as far as customer service. Not only were we swept under the rug, but just hearing how servers were talking to customers was a little unsettling. An old man at the bar literally had to yell at his server because she wasn't listening to his calls for help and she responded with, "what?! We're very busy!!" This was the same server who served us :D Have no idea what her name was as she didn't bother introducing herself, but she was the girl with the tattoos behind her ear.
