I've been craving a banana matcha for the longest. After some research this place came up and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend even loved he tastes the banana more in it. The burrito was HUGE and the salsa was hot and fresh. Service was fast and not too crowded at the time of service. Been wanting to try this place since it opened. So I snuck out one early morning to visit. The cafe opens at 7 am which is great... definitely beats the rush. The place is super cute and definitely offers plenty of Insta-photo opps. The place has good coffee options ranging from regular drip coffee to concoctions that include Mexican staples such as Abuelita hot chocolate and Cafe de Olla. They also offer sandwiches, blended coffee drinks, and of course pan dulce. I ordered a café Americano and a sweet bread (pan dulce). I added half-and-half to my coffee when I got it. My first impression was that the coffee is very weak. If you are used to gourmet coffees, you will not be impressed by this one. I should have tasted my coffee before I added creamer. It probably didn't need any, which is customary in a lot of Latin American cultures. The sweet bread was dense and a little bit dry. It definitely was not like the kind that you would get at a Mexican bakery, panadería. I wasn't surprised since I had heard mixed reviews about this place... But I was a tad disappointed. I learned that they sell their branded coffee for $20 a bag, the bag is your standard size which you would buy at the store for $8 to $9, or $12 to $15 for Starbucks and other brands. The coffee at the shop definitely did not justify $20 per bag, which is what you would pay for something like Counter Culture or Intelligenstia Coffee. I really wanted to love this place... It gave me cute cozy café vibes but the food and beverage just did not live up to the hype. The customer service was good, the employees were polite and professional. When I asked why the coffee was so expensive, one of the girls behind the counter, answered that it was to pay for the branding. I do not think I will go back however never say never. My nieces are dying to visit this place when they come visit me so I'm sure I will show up once again. If you go, I hope your experience is better than mine in terms of coffee and food. First time eating in & lucky for us it wasn't very busy so it was easy to find seating. The only thing is that they only have one baby chair available, and the one family who was using it was leaving so thankful we got to use it. I would hope they app maybe another 2-3 baby chairs to make it more baby friendly as well. Employees very friendly & patient with ordering. We were able to take menus to the table to view them & once ready, order at the counter. Husband ordered the red chilaquiles ($13) w/ steak (+$4) & my son & I ordered the breakfast sandwich ($13.50) + 3 drinks ($7) each. Total coming out to ruffly around $70ish dollar which is the usual amount when we dine out. To be honest I wasn't expecting to spend $70 there but once the food came out, I would say was worth it for us. My husband's plate looked delicious and the breakfast sandwiches we got were pretty huge and stuffed. Employees came out and served us our food at the table & it came out hot & delicious. This place is adorable and hits right in my Mexican American heart ! The place is photo ready so be sure to take your fancy cameras ! The service is fast! Daisy our host was super sweet, she explained their menu very well and she is bilingual so you can order in English, Spanish or my personal favorite Spanglish! Well. I think all the workers are bilingual! As for the food and drinks....what is not to love!!!! I tried the house coffee and it was brewed to perfection and so was the price! They have sweet bread and the Mexican's favorite breakfast cuisine! My mom had the pan dulce that was a cute little bag of mini bread which is a perfect pairing with coffee! I ordered the chilaquiles that were delicious! The chips were super crunchy and you can tell their chile is home made bc it had a good chili taste but not spice at ! I have already invited my yelp bestie to go again with me!!!! Definitely a 10 out of 10 ! I have been here several times and have enjoyed everything I tried. The coffees have some different flavors but they do run sweet. The bites (14ish) are flavorful but a little on the expensive side. They have breakfast food but I wish they had a few more lunch items. Overall a cute place. read more

We tried the Mazapán Frappe, iced café de olla (didn't taste fresh), the pepino con Limón and Jamaica refreshers were ok and the conchas were cute and passed but again overall everything was just ok. I also ordered a club sandwich, torta con jamón and BLT sandwich to go and unfortunately we all got tortas de jamón lol and didn't realize until we got home. The tortas were good. My husband surprised me with breakfast from Con Azúcar Coffee on the morning of 11/1, and it was such a lovely treat. He picked up two coffees, three breakfast burritos, and a plate of chilaquiles everything was made fresh to order, and you could really taste the care in each bite. The wait was a little long, but totally understandable given how fresh everything was. The food was fantastic hearty portions and great flavor. I especially loved the chilaquiles! The only downside was the coffee, which felt a bit overpriced at $12 for a smaller-sized cup. It was tasty, but I'd hoped for a bit more given the price. Still, I'd definitely go back. The individuals in the area are expecting lower prices and social media has hyped this place up so much. the dissonance between chic Mexican eatery and east side Bakersfield (niles st to be exact) create the perfect place for clients to hate on the effort and craft the owners brought us. I went with my family to try Con Azucar Cafe. It is family friendly and cute little areas to take pictures. I tried the avocado toast, and an iced latte with oat milk (so they have non-dairy alternatives). The avocado toast was on thick brioche bread and was really yummy. My husband tried the duvalin latte which he said is on the sweeter side and tastes like a duvalin. Inside they have beautiful decorations, a swing for pictures, very esthetic. However, they do not have a lot of seating options. I stood up while I enjoyed my food because there weren't enough chairs. They do have a drive-thru option to make things easier and when you are on the go. We arrived and there were only two people in front of us ordering so we got our drinks and food within ten minutes. I've had more flavor in the coffee from my workplace's staff lounge--and that's saying a lot. Honestly? Not shocked. This place is clearly more about vibes and aesthetic than it is about actual coffee. It's cute, sure--perfect for a photo op--but if you're coming for a solid caffeine fix or real flavor? If I could give 0 stars, I would. While usually the service is great, today I had the most horrible experience. After waiting five minutes at the kiosk no one had taken my order so I moved along the line to leave however, I got stuck between cars. I was trapped for another 15 minutes and by the time I got to the window, they finally let me place an order. I order an iced matcha latte with cold foam and a chocolate croissant. Which mind you I wasn't approached right away when I got to the drive-through window they waited an additional five minutes to greet me. The girl took my order and I paid for my order, and I tried to earn my points by asking her to insert my number. She said my account would be connected through my card, however as a longtime customer, I knew that my new card hadn't been connected to my account so I would earn my points. As I was trying to explain this to her, she walked away and close the window. She quickly came out with my order which I was appreciative for at first, but after I left the drive-through and tasted my drink, I realized that this order had been sitting out already due to the ice already being melted, and the flavor was just giving water down drink. The customer service was good she was friendly and she gave us time to look over the menu since it was out first time and the food didn't take to long to get to us. We ordered their matcha and we were honestly disappointed we've tried matcha from a lot of different places in Bakersfield and this one has to be one of the worst ones unfortunately, it tastes completely watered down and had no sweetest to it I had to put 4 packets of sugar and even then it was still bland, I had my brother, mom and boyfriend try it and they all agreed we there was no flavor (this is something I've seen a lot of reviews complain about that the drinks here are bland in flavor) I figured the food would probably make up for it so I ordered their burrito and my boyfriend orders their torta. The torta was a 7.5/10 with the sauce they give you 8/10 the torta wasn't anything too crazy but it was pretty good. The burrito on the other hand was HUGE which I typically wouldn't mind but the problem was it was so soggy and wet to the point where it was falling apart and I couldn't eat it. Burritos are meant to be held in your hands so it really shouldn't be something to messy or completely fall apart on you, I'm typically not too picky when it comes to burritos but everything was just gushing out I was really disappointed. In menu picture it doesn't look like a wet burrito it looks dry and I didn't read anywhere that said the burrito is wet so idk if it was the cooks that messed up or if it's just not labeled either way it was so soggy and it wasn't wrapped well the food was falling apart the moment I opened it I just couldn't eat it as much as I tried. I really wanted to like the burrito but it was just a huge mess. The ambiance is pretty and nice I love the Mexican style all around. Our food was almost 50$ 43.99 to be exact, which to me is crazy because the drinks weren't good and I couldn't even eat my burrito maybe if the prices were cheaper I would come back again but overall the food isn't worth it that much, the drinks have no flavor and it's just to expensive I'd rather pay 50$ and go somewhere where they serve my GOOD food for the same price ! I think most of us forget that when there is something new in Bakersfield everyone in town wants to try & I don't think they were prepared for the flow of people, which is probably why the waits were so long for some. We went on a Sunday morning and the line was all the way outside the cafe. The place is very very small no so many seats and the parties are bigs so it took for ever every table to hit free. For that reason I should give less starts to be honest because it was a disappointment. You kinda need to bother people who still eating and stand next to them almost on top of them to save a table so it's ridiculous. I feel bad kinda ruined my experience. Food was ok nothing extraordinario. Just went through the drive thru. This is our 3rd time going and our last time. The 1st time was mid-- mid drinks, mid chilaquiles, mid tortas. The 2nd time we only ordered drinks thru drive through and had to wait nearly 20 minutes. We were the only ones in the drive through for half that time. I understand the place gets busy but the drive through is supposed to be significantly less wait- that's the whole point of it. This time, as can be seen with the attached picture, we ordered 2 drinks. Again, it was a 20 minute wait and it was NOT worth it. We ordered the exact same drink. However one was overly sweet, as you can tell from the difference in color. What's going on here??? Why is the service lacking SO much??? Instead of focusing on aesthetics, instead of recording staff for an instagram post, management should be taking care of this problem!!! Retrain staff PLEASE or this business won't last long. Anyway, we ended up going to Dutch Bros and the experience was completely different; the wait time was non-existent, the staff was very friendly and the order was made correctly. It might not be fair to compare a chain with a small business but there's a reason why these chains are constantly staying afloat and expanding.
