So it's been a while since I've been back and one of my former coworker friends wanted to grab brunch and suggested Wakin Bakin since he lives in the neighborhood! Let me tell you, I regret that it's taken me so long to come back! Before I forget there are new local owners who you can tell love the community and the people that come into their restaurant! They're planning on doing breakfast for dinner I think Thursdays and Fridays which I want to check out as well I ordered the special of eggs Benedict over their delicious honey butter biscuit and the hashrowns which were like red potatoes that were in crawfish boil, omg so good!! And the iced chai latte with oat milk was from a local coffeehouse, I forgot which one but it dang it was good too! My friend is trying to eat healthier so he got the tofu bowl with Patton's beef hot sausage and a honey butter biscuit! He enjoyed his food and let me taste it and it was yummy too! Stopped in this morning for an employee meeting breakfast. What a nice quiet place for breakfast and meeting. The waiter was outstanding, friendly, tentative and very helpful. I had the OG Bowl. It was great. Perfectly cooked over easy eggs and the bacon was wonderful. The grits were off the charts, creamy and cooked to perfection too. Great place to try. I will make this a normal stop when I am in NOLA. read more

OMG!! This place is soooooo good! Please do yourself a favor and come enjoy the food and friendly service here!! We stayed at an airbnb nearby and heard about this place and it was so amazing, we ordered the biscuits and gravy and shrimp and grita and was delicious, one of the best biscuits and gravy we've had. I also ordered egg whites cause of dietary reasons and they served me such a generous amount, everything is home made and delicious. I love the chill ambiance and the service is so fast! If you're hungry and want fast and friendly service and great coffee come to wakin' Bakin'. We made a second stop and had some pancakes and sourdough sandwich, loved! We got takeout this morning from here knowing that to go breakfast can be risky. Luckily it worked out, because we loved the food. It was packaged in foil bowls and the integrity of the food was intact. I got the OG bowl and the grits were so fluffy and creamy especially with the cheese. I asked for poached eggs and they would perfectly runny for a dish like that. My companion got the burritos dippers which are a good deal by themselves. We got crawfish etoufee on the side and that felt a bit overpriced. Regardless, all the food was really good I can't wait to go in person. read more

Oh double yes!!! We are at the Mid City location 3 mornings out of the 5 days we were in NOLA. Outstanding service, abundant portions, and cute atmosphere. Seating indoors as well as outdoors. Great coffee also. We tried the grits, breakfast burrito, the sourdough sandwich, and ofcourse the biscuits and gravy. Portions were large enough as a shareable. Went Sunday morning with another couple and enjoyed it. It's a small space, very casual with a few tables outside. We sat outside and were served promptly. I had the voodoo coffee with chocolate milk, to gulp it all down quickly because it was delicious! I had eggs, bacon, hash and biscuit. Eggs were perfectly scrambled and the bacon was sooo good. I really enjoyed my visit to Wakin' Bakin! I've been eyeing this place for a while and finally got my chance to swing by. There are a lot of great brunch places in New Orleans, but their hours are usually from morning to early afternoon so you have to plan to come here earlier in your day. It being a Saturday I fully expected to have to wait to get seated but I was fortunate and was able to get seated right away. I even got a larger table because the tables for smaller groups were already occupied. This gave me lots of space to spread out. I got a cup of coffee (HEY Coffee Co. brand) which had unlimited refills (my favorite kind!) and a breakfast burrito. I originally asked to have the bacon put on the side but the server was so wonderful and offered me options! I ended up getting Tofu in my burrito! It was very yummy! The service was great! The team there were very attentive, kept my coffee full (even filled my to go cup!), and accommodated my dietary requests. The ambience was nice- it's limited seating inside but they do have sitting space outside too. Drinks: Lots of breakfast drink options! Service: Very good and attentive! Outdoor Seating: Yes! The food came out relatively quick and the service was great. You truly felt the hospitality. As for the food it wasn't anything extraordinary but your standard breakfast. This was the best breakfast sandwich I've had in a long time! I've heard so many rave reviews about this place, I was thinking it would be packed on a Saturday morning. I think we beat the rush. We went to the one located in mid-city on Banks street. The parking was horrible (especially since it was garbage day in that neighborhood - Tuesday I think). Great little mid city breakfast place. I had been once a good while ago. Long enough that I didn't even remember what I had ordered. This time brought friends who had never been. The inside is kinda small so it can fill up pretty fast. They do have a couple outside seating options. This day we were able to walk right in no wait. I went with the biscuits and gravy. That was some of the fluffiest airy biscuits I've tasted. The sausage gravy was also very good. Just a heads up they don't have booze, but they will do a corking fee if you bring your own I think it was 15 bucks. Don't know if they always allow this but we had walking bloody Mary's I made at the house and my bro in law was wan't quite finished and we were going to stand outside while he finished, but the waitress was like no need go right in. read more

The ABSOLUTELY SWEETEST PLACE IVE VISIT IN NEW ORLEANS. I wish I remember our waitresses name but even the waiter that helped her bring things out was so amazingly sweet serving me and my kids. Came in on a Tuesday morning as our last stop before we headed back to the airport. The gentleman who took our order was nice and friendly. He was also patient which I appreciated. The food was cheap and came out quickly. I got a big John with an over medium egg and cheddar cheese. My mate got biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were too crumbly that I couldn't pick my sandwich up without it falling apart. The egg was slightly more cooked then I like so the yolk was a little more thick then I would of wanted. The biscuit really soaked up the yolk and was good but there wasn't enough. The cheese was shredded and kinda melted on top of the biscuit which as odd and greasy. The sausage was decent. The biscuits and gravy were sad, cold but looked great. Over all I wanted more but was happy with the staff and the place but don't think I'd return. read more

First time trying Wakin' Bakin' since they opened their French Quarter location in this space previously occupied by Eat NOLA. The vibe is comfortable and casual with a bright, cheery ambiance that fits nicely with their breakfast/lunch business model. We got lucky and were seated immediately at 10:30 on a busy Sunday morning. Friendly and efficient service. Started with a cup of French Truck coffee, which is one of the best cups o' joe in NOLA. For entrees, I went with the biscuits & gravy with sausage and scrambled eggs. The biscuits are awesome, with a honey cornbread taste & consistency. The sausage gravy was pretty good, but a little saltier than I'd like. My bride had "the usual", which she enjoyed. The bacon confit (a little softer than regular bacon) and Cajun hash were the stars of the plate. Bottom-line, better than average breakfast option in the Quarter, but not quite worthy of making my list of the top 10 best breakfast/brunches in NOLA. read more

It was over 90 degrees and we were seated outside and our server told us that they were out of ice so we got lukewarm water.
