If you like sushi this is the place to go! You get more sushi than rice ratio which is how I rate a just so-so sushi place to a great sushi place. We ordered sashimi as well as a few fun rolls like the Caterpillar Roll which was an eel roll topped with a generous portion of freshly cut avocado. Yum! Went there with the family and my youngest doesn't eat sushi but she had great alternate choice of bento boxes for her. The service was good, but the food is just "ok" and quite a bit overpriced. The combo (or Bento box as some places call it) is $16 not including drink. I have had Bento at other places that had a good bit more food plus drink for half that amount. I am not trying to steer anyone away from Wakyoto, but I would say the food needs to be better and more of it for the price. read more

This little place is a diamond hidden in Branson. Don't be fooled at their small size because their menu is packed with amazing flavor! The service by their ladies and Sushi master is great. This was bad ....the decor was promising but both service and dishes presented were quite disappointing .... I think they were running on the assumption this was the most posh sushi joint I'd been to so I wouldn't notice that my chicken was under cooked (raw) tempura was absolutely bland ...nori had thick creases in it that were nearly inedible and destroyed the wrap AND it wasn't fresh not sure if they made it that morning or left over from the night before but I could taste the refrigerator in the stale rice .....was on vacation and am used to a higher quality offering especially at the premium marked price this place charged unless your really drunk or just don't care....don't eat wykyoto read more

Excellent Japanese food and sushi! My family and I have been eating at this establishment for years. Emma and Lisa are very friendly and attentive. This place is apparently under new management and they have made a couple of positive changes. Most significantly, the presentation of the food has improved. There is also new sushi options available. On our most recent trip, we ordered sushi and it came wrapped in tinfoil and fire. It was tasty and also visually interesting. Most people don't know this, but they do have traditional Korean bulgogi there too which was delicious. Bottom line: Definitely give this place a try! read more

Wonderful selection. I had the Eagle Eye Roll and the Scorpion Roll. Both were delicious. Service was quick, but had a hard time understanding each other due to heavy accent. A little too pricey, but everything is here in Branson. read more

This is absolutely the best place for sushi. We love Wykaoto. We have been here a million times and always have a great experience. The owners really take an interest in their customers and are more often than not, the ones preparing the food and serving. If we have the little one with us, they will bring her her own miso, because they remember she loves it, or occasionally a desert. We have tried almost every special roll. We recommend the raw boat roll, wakyoto special roll, Japanese tuna ball, or the spicy trio roll. I really appreciate that it's not mostly cream cheese or fried rolls like a lot of the places from Branson to Springfield. They're squid salad and egg rolls are exceptional, as well as their miso is seriously the best I've ever had. I cannot say enough about this place. They are just the best. read more

We love sushi and decided to try it when we were in branson and it was very good. The atmosphere and decorations inside was nice and not too formal or too casual. They had bamboo screens in between each booth which was a nice touch. We ordered the classic roll, the viking fire roll, the branson roll and a california roll and we they were all good. The service was great. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and helpful with recommendations when I wasn't quite sure what to get. My family of five visited. The food was ok good but the service was poor!! Our son did not get his meal until after we were all finished (they forgot). The drinks came (after having to remind them twice we had ordered) with no lemon when specifically asked for and was charged $12.95/drink! Wow! They automatically apply a 17% gratuity to a party of five and didn't discount our sons meal for being forgot about. Branson has more to offer than just Dixie flags and tattoo parlors they have a good sushi shop. Tuna nigiri is the best thing here. It was tender and moist (yes I know it's hard to have dry sushi but try Ocean Zen in Springfield and you will know what I'm talking about) and melts in your mouth. The hamachi nigiri was great as well. The Dragon roll was good, California roll good, 911 roll was just ok. They bring out fried bananas after your meal and these were a big hit at our table. For the upside these guys do everything right from service to food to presentation. The downside...they do not explore out of the box very much. There seems to be no innovation in the menu. I have had some BAD sushi in this area and it is nice to have it done right but I am still looking for someone to push the envelope. C'mon chef's of Springfield, Branson, Taney County, Wilfred, and Greene County let's put some lipstick on this pig and see if she can dance. Let's think outside of the box and push forward with some insanely good tasting concoctions, I know you can do it. And when you do I will be here to give you your just deserts....after i have had them of course. read more

Not the very best sushi for the price. The fishes are mainly frozen (i can tell because sushi is one of my favorite food of all time). And yes for the price, they should order some fresh fish (especially for the busy holidays). My kids had bake and fried rolls they said they weren't as good as other restaurants that we'd been. Wonderful, friendly service! Traditional menu with top-notch salmon sashimi. The awesome lobster roll really had lobster on top. Be sure to grab a samurai drink as well! I took my family of six here last Saturday night on a weekend trip for my birthday. When we arrived, we requested to be seated at a table that was roomy enough for our group. The manager refused(even though the dining room was very empty) and seated us in the back corner in a booth for four and pushed up a rickety table to the edge. Our waitress/manager took our order and then started making references to my brother in law about looking like Santa. After our asking specific questions before ordering, she brought two of us the wrong order. My sister-in-law requested some Yum-Yum sauce and we had to endure five minutes of her lecturing, insulting, and nearly refusing to accommodate her. Before we completed our meal, we asked her about our getting food that we didn't order. She literally spent 20 minutes arguing with us, insulting us, and refusing to admit that she didn't listen to what we specifically asked her when we ordered. She finally agreed to take the extra $30+ charges off our bill, after disparaging our race and intelligence. She completely ruined our evening and it took an hour for my blood pressure to return to normal. The food was excellent, but none of us can believe that she is employed there. After speaking to several locals, we found that this is a common problem. I have never had such a poor experience and I feel sorry for her coworkers/employees. read more

Let me be the first to say that the very idea of uttering the words "Branson" and "sushi" in the same sentence once felt ridiculous. But this restaurant has shown me the error of my ways. This is some of the best Japanese and Asian fusion food I've had-- and that really is saying something as I spent last summer traveling through Japan. I've lived in New York City and eaten at top restaurants in countries all over the world, and I'd put this little eatery in a Branson strip mall in my top 10. Sure, we aren't talking Michelin stars, but for the price- I'd probably chose to eat here over many of the 2 and 3 star places we've had the pleasure to visit. The service was being compare, the drinks were tasty with just the right amount of kick, and the fish was as fresh as anything I'd expect from a coastal restaurant. We tried a variety of rolls, bento boxes and the tuna tower-- and we'd all come back for more. I will have dreams of the tuna tower until I can get back! read more

This place was horrible! The server was ridiculous when I told her the noodles were like rubber and she said it wasn't her fault I didn't like them! She would not take them off my check and my husband ordered the same thing and thought they were also bad. So we're sitting there with 2 bowls full of Udon as she persisted on telling us that they've been open for 6 years and people like their food...who does that? I own a business myself and would never speak to my customers the way she was speaking to me! read more

I don't know what was worse - the black hair in my ginger salad - or the mildew on the "Japanese Sprite" bottles that were served to my children. Service recovery on these mistakes were very poor as well. The server actually looked at my brown hair to see if by chance I could have put the hair in my salad myself. I can say that the sushi was good - but my appetite was greatly decreased after the first two incidents occured. I would not reccommend this restaurant. Poor Service - and I do have to wonder what the condition of their kitchen is in. read more
