Quality/Quantity - I go online and order the specific tires I want; they have decent selections. Then I schedule my appointment online. I ALWAYS get the first or second appointment as I want to ensure my jobs are done on time. And so far, they are done 100% on time, if not early. Thank you. I also prepay online. So convenient. Atmosphere - Auto Care Center on the side of this Walmart. Actually at most Walmarts...? Is it due to designation locations? No impulse purchases? Service - 5 stars. Again, NOT just this location, but also the one in Reno, NV and Pico Rivera, CA. Price - Depends on what you select. Today's service (Feb 2024) for one tire was approximately $80. Very bad experience. I am specifically referring to the two employees working inside the tire shop who were installing and changing tires. Their attitude and customer service were extremely rude and unprofessional. I have had good experiences with Walmart tires in terms of quality and reasonable pricing, but unfortunately, the way I was treated by these two employees was unacceptable. Because of this experience, I do not recommend this location for tire installation or tire service. read more

There was an elderly Indian employee with a headscarf on, I don't know what it was, who asked where I got my tires from, and I naturally said Walmart. He said okay, but then he acted like he didn't want to do any business because I was there as early as seven in the morning, as soon as he opened his eyes. After I changed the tires, when I went to pay, he gave me a bill for $160, claiming I hadn't bought them from Walmart and that's why he was giving me this bill. Even though I showed him all the evidence that I bought them from Walmart, he didn't believe me from beginning to end. I showed him the bank payment, and I even showed him the last transaction I made in the Walmart app using AI, but he still didn't believe me. Or rather, he was doing it on purpose. Then, as if he were trying to deny it, he said, "Okay, okay, no problem," and told me I only had to pay $62. Maybe he was going to pocket $100, I don't know. He also pricked my tire with a needle. As soon as I left the room, I had to go to another tire shop to get my tire repaired again. All this happened 20 minutes after I left that service shop. I do not recommend that anyone bring their car here for anything. I have taken my car for oil changes at different Walmarts many times without any issues, but this location has been a problem. My specific situation is that I brought my car in for an oil change. First they told me they did not have the appropriate filter in the oil change area but did have it in the actual Walmart store. Despite it being the identical filter (same part number) since it was being taken from their store shelves I would have to pay more for it. I really needed the oil change so I agreed having no other real choices. When they finished I asked to confirm if they have filled the washer fluid, transmission fluid, differential fluid, power steering fluid (all included in a standard Lube Service according to their signs). They said yes they had (the paperwork had all the boxes checked off) but I asked them to check again and none of them had been filled so after I asked they filled them. My car has never leaked oil so a few months later I noticed a puddle of oil where my car is usually parked (never noticed it before because the car is over it). I took it to my mechanic who showed me that someone forgot to place the washer on the drip pain when they drained it for the oil change. Mind you I had to leave my car with the mechanic all day and had to arrange for transportation to and from the mechanic twice. Now i am left wondering if they changed the oil filter or did any of the things that I cannot see. The other issues are that there are no customer service people available to assist customers in the auto area. The button that is supposed to call and associate doesn't actually call anyone. The staff doesn't actually speak to customers or let them finish a sentence when they are trying to explain their car's issue. I will not be coming here again because i don't trust them to actually change the oil or the filter. They could just lift and lower the car without doing anything. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I should have known it would be a nightmare when I tried calling to reschedule--after not even joking, 20 calls, I just gave up and rescheduled online because that was easier. I arrive at the location and head inside where customer service is apparently only for the auto center. I press the touchscreen for assistance eight times. No one shows up. I walk around to find an employee--nothing. I go back, and of course, by then someone's finally there, but now there are four other people also waiting. When I finally speak to the guy at the desk, he's rude as hell. I seriously almost lost it right there. Then I get a notification saying my car is ready. I go back and wait another hour for someone to show up at the desk. I ask a mechanic if I can get my keys, and he just mutters, "He's coming, he's coming," then slams the door in my face. My instalation appointment hot canceled a day before I did a second instalation appointment got canceled again with a day notice Store does not answer phone at all. A lot of these reviews highlight the negative experiences and often times people with positive experiences don't share their side. I came in on 7/9/25 to change two front tires which costed around $229. The employee at the front of the auto center filed me in and the process was done within 45 mins. When it's finished, remember to go inside Walmart and ask for an associate there to get your paperwork and then leave and show the mechanic your paper to receive your keys. To be straightforward, just bad customer service and lack of knowledge on the technicians' part (yes, multiple). We simply needed a new car battery so my wife took it in. After 2 hours of waiting, multiple technicians rudely insisted it could be an issue with the starter (which we already knew wasn't an issue) and/or alternator and told her to call a tow truck as changing the battery will "do nothing" with no further explanation. After she asked them to change the battery anyway, it took them at least another hour to change the car battery. That's 3+ hours now. Sure enough, car started right up without any issues and when she got home, I took out a multimeter and tested the voltage accordingly. Of course, no indication at all of issues with the alternator. If you're looking for a place that takes at least 3 hours to change out a car battery while rudely getting false/lazy/speculative insights from the technicians, this is the place for you. read more

Tried an oil change with an older vehicle at the Walmart Auto Care Center in Union City, CA a few months ago, It was an excellent experience. Knowledgable employees who seemed to know what they were doing. Out of there in less than an hour without an appointment. Checked reviews and found that Walmart Auto Car employees are certified and could provide services equal to other businesses. Made an appointment to do an oil change on a 2020 Mazda. Big Mistake. There was no delay in starting work on the vehicle. I was advised that it could be done in 30 minutes and that I would receive a text message. 40 minutes later - no text message. Arrived at the service bay to see that the car was being driven out. I assumed it was finished. After 10 minutes of trying to talk to an employee, I was told that the job could not be finished because they needed approval to use an oil other than the standard Quaker State that I had ordered. They said they tried to contact me multipe times with both text and voice. I showed my phone to establish that that had not happened. It seemed that Quaker State oil wa not available in the specified SAE-20. Gave my approval to use any other full synthetic oil that they had available. 10 minutes later the car was back in the service bay. 40 minutes later, I was told that the job was complete and that I should go to the service desk in the store to pay. This is were the fun really begins. There was no employee at the service desk and 5 people were waiting to make purchase for pay for service. 30 minutes later there were 8 people waiting. Three Walmart employees passed by the Center but shrugged their shoulders and said they could not help. One did say they would get help, but none materialized. Customers were getting upset so I called the main Walmart store phone number. The operator said she would get someone to help. None showed up. 20 minutes later I called again and asked for the store manager. Ready for this: He only works in the morning. There are no assistant managers available. Tough it out. So I went to the front of the store and asked a secuity guard if there was somone in charge of the store. He pointed me toward a lady who seemed to be overwhelmed just keeping up with routine problems. I explained the situation and asked if I could pay at the register. The answer was NO! I was told to go back to the service desk and wait. An employee would be sent. Went back to the service center and indeed there was an employee trying to work the cash register. In fact two people were trying to figure it out. It seems this cash register is difficult to figure out. Finally got my turn. Could not use the bar code that I was told was necessary to complete the transaction so the employee had to shuffle through a stack of paper to find my name. At last, my car was liberated and I left much worse for the experience. I managed to do all that in three plus hours. One hour of which was waiting to pay my bill. It was frustating that Walmart was not interested in getting paid so they held my car as a hostage. It was also frustrating that none of the emplyees cared. It was the customers problem, not theirs. It was also frustrating to watch the employees in the service bays. They all staggered around like zombies waiting to complete their shifts. And a couple of them demonstrartd that they didn't know or care about what they were doing. It is clear that Walmart dosen't need, or want customers. So, "For Car Care Go Elsewhere." You will be less frustrated, will not have to experience a disinterested work force, have more time to play with your kids, and you won't have to pack a lunch. read more

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. I have a severely damaged tire so I went online and ordered my tires. I also made an appointment with Walmart Auto Care in Union City to install the tires since that's where they were being shipped to. Two hours prior to my appointment I called to confirm and even added an oil change. After driving 45 minutes, I showed up 30 minutes early. When I showed up, I saw 3 men outside speaking. I asked if I was in the right place and one of the men said, we're not taking customers. I explained that I had an appointment and he rudely and unapologetically reiterated that they were certainly not honouring my service. As he was telling me this his friends actually laughed at me. I then asked for them to give me the tires. As I was waiting inside, I listened to that same man tell his friend that he needed to leave at 5 and also said "You know what I feel bad about? Absolutely f***ing nothing." Unreal. No apology, nothing. My tire was destroyed putting me in even further danger and they didn't even offer to pump it even though one of them said "it is that back one huh? That's bad" I put on the spare in the dark and drive back to SF hoping I didn't cause damage (long drive). Worst experience I've had in as long as I can remember. If you want to be sure service happens and you're not laughed at for being shocked they cancelled your appointment without notice and only after you show up, this is the place for you. I wish I could give 0 stars. I came in here at 12:15 for a simple oil change. I asked how long the wait was and was told an hour so I decided to stay and shop in the store, an hour later I come out to check on car and it hasn't even moved from where I parked it so I went to the shopping center across the way to go eat and I return an hour later. This time, the car is sitting right next to the service station as if it was next so we ask about the time frame and they come out to pull the car in and say "it should be quick". Here we are still sitting here with my infant in the parking lot waiting another 40 minutes so far and I'm still WAITING as I type this review... I'm not sure what I'm more upset about, the fact they LIED about how long it was going to take or the fact that a simple oil change has taken almost 3 hours now, and there was not a single effort of communication to let me know they were 2 hours behind or that it was going to be longer than originally discussed. I'll update when I get my car back. UPDATE: I got my car back at 3:10 and asked to speak to a manager and this was totally not my type of thing to do because I'd hate to be a "Karen" but the manger was so helpful and understanding and explained to us that it's a new staff and he's been trying to hire more so I want to change my rating because this conversation was never defensive and was all about finding a common understanding between both parties. I am beyond pleased with the problem solving and customer support provided by the auto center manager. It was a horrible experience in this auto center. If I could I would have given it a negative star review. We changed the tires for maintenance . However, this center made a very poor job at doing so. They provided the wrong model which My husband had told them the correct model 3 times before the staff made the order. When My husband pick up the car, he found out that they completely forgot to add the tire caps on. After driving for a while, he found the tire had balance issues . Therefor, we didn't believe in the Union City Walmart Auto Center anymore, then we went to Walmart Auto Care Centers in Pleasanton. The staff found: 1)the tire's pressure was not up to standards. 2) The tire balance had problems. 3) The right rear wheel was not tightened well enough making it lopsided. I've had two cars and I always took them to this location to be serviced. From my understanding, they always do a good job! I just come for oil changes. They're friendly and relatively fast!
