Oh my! This place was a fabulous surprise. We made our reservation weeks ahead and were not disappointed. It's worth the hype. The servings are small but very tasty and well presented. Our server was enthusiastic and helpful and recommended ordering several dishes so we could share and have a varied experience. After the fact we had enough food for the three of us on girls night out. So, we ordered the Rodeo Za pizza, the Wagyu Tataki, sourdough bread with cultured butter, bone marrow, and the chicory salad. Three of us came here because our friend read about this place in the New York Times. The Times listed Walrus Rodeo in its 2024 top 50 best restaurants in America and 2025 top 25 best restaurants in Miami. The restaurant opened in a non-descript strip mall in Little Haiti on December 8, 2022. Just a few months later, it was listed in the Michelin Guide (February 2023) and has maintained Bib Gourmand distinction since May 2023. Its sister restaurant, Boia De (Italian), has one Michelin star and is located in the same strip. Free parking is available in the shopping center. Book reservations with Resy. We got a $100 credit for this meal using the American Express Platinum Card (benefit is up to $400 in Resy credits in $100 quarterly increments). Tasty, unassuming, and a fun atmosphere. This is my friend's favorite place so had to check it out when I came to visit. You share everything and they cook everything in their brick oven. This hip loosely Italian eatery sits in the shadow of sister restaurant Boia De in both location and unfortunately in quality. The restaurant is casual and funky in both the decor and the service. Our waitress and other staff were very friendly and borderline goofy in a way that felt purposeful. The tables are spaced decently far apart but it's pretty loud inside. Like Boia De, there is no liquor license but I think that is actually a bigger detriment at Walrus Rodeo as the menu made me crave a cocktail rather than wine. The menu is divided into pizza, dishes that come with a bread made in the pizza oven, appetizers, and entrees. The best dish by far was the beef carpaccio which was a triumph of texture and well balanced in seasoning as well. The baked oysters were only OK. The bone marrow was under rendered and the flavor was lost in the garnish. The peach burrata was pretty good. The lasagna is the specialty here but I was disappointed. Between the smoked lamb, pungent Parmesan, and the pesto there were just too many funky elements. Overall 3* is maybe a bit harsh but I was underwhelmed. read more

The decor is high-end cowboy saloon, fitting for dishes like the Rodeo Za which is a pizza with anchovies, spicy tomatoes, and brown butter that was hands-down my favorite item here. Everything comes out of a huge oven in the corner of the room. The Dew'd cocktail was sweet and refined, the hanger steak delicious with a crispy potato pave that was fun to eat. Honestly when I don't remember to take photos you know the food had be mesmerizing. As far as I know their menu tends to change around a bit I'm sure it's for seasonality of ingredients and to showcase a variety of unique creations by the chef. They do always have a gourmet pizza selection tho! Their cocktails are made from lots of homemade cordials and other ingredients. 10/10 you definitely need to try this place at least once if you're a local. When I took this photo with the drinks I had this crispy pork belly dish that was a take on like a Cuban Mojo lechón but with slices of crispy pork belly, when I returned, maybe a year after it wasn't on the menu. Walrus Rodeo is located in a small plaza just north of the Design District. Reservations are a must! We were only able to get bar seating with a few days' notice, and the restaurant was packed. The burrata was absolutely delicious, but the real standout was the bread it came with, easily some of the best bread I ever had. I was disappointed with the Truffle Pizza. The cheese overpowered the truffle flavor, and I hadn't noticed it came with sausage, which further masked the truffle taste. The real star of the night was the lamb lasagna--soft, tender, and packed with incredible flavor. Easily my favorite dish on the menu. All in all the service was great, all the servers were attentive and checked up on us regularly, even though we were seated at the bar. I will be back ! read more

We tried to go to Boia De sans reservation around 9pm on a Friday but they were fully booked so referred us over here and I'm so glad they did! We ordered the corn star za, the artichoke app and chicory salad. First of all the pizza- WOW! Flavorful, not too crusty (but it was sourdough so no complaints either way), cooked in the stone oven. Corn on pizza-what a great concept! Not stingy with the toppings either. The artichokes were so good on their own, and I appreciate that they were seasoned and flavorful so you didn't have to rely on the sauce. Chicory salad was pretty good, a nice blend of the lettuces and toppings. Love those crunchy onions. I'd love to try the lasagna next time, as that looked amazing. Service was excellent! They were all very nice and made sure you understood the menu very well and answered any questions you had. I think we had the best seat in the restaurant because we were able to see how the other dishes were made and looked so we already know what we are getting the next time we visit. Now, the food was out of this world. The kampachi paired perfectly with the blood orange. The taste and how fresh the pizza was had me speechless. This place is a true hidden gem, located between Little Haiti and Magic City. My husband and i celebrated our anniversary there last night and chose to sit at the Chef's counter, which was very comfortable and fun to watch each dish be made. We decided to order smaller dishes and skip any main courses or pizza-although from the look of the pizzas and other reviews it's definitely worth ordering one of their signature pizzas. We started with the roasted oysters-cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Then came my favorite of the night; their signature sourdough bread with cultured butter and anchovies. The bread comes out scorching hot and combined with the butter and not overly salty anchovies this was (sorry to sound so corny) divine. I could eat this all day every day. The tuna carpaccio was next; it's served with a miso eggplant puree. This was zesty, bright and really well executed. Next up the Wagyu Tataki-the steak was so tender and juicy; my only critique is that the bottarga on top made it a little too salty, but still absolutely delicious. We actually didn't originally order the chicory salad, but after seeing it plated for mulitiple tables we couldn't resist. Let me tell y'all something I am a foodie through and through, but the ONE herb I cannot stand is Dill. This salad had me questioning my life's choices about Dill because this was phenomenal. The salad was slightly bitter from the chicory and balanced beautifully with the sweet apple slices. I think I might actually be a Dill fan now The last dish we ordered was bone marrow with more of their sourdough bread; again a perfectly executed dish. Wine and beer only, wines by the glass were pretty pricey, but not insane. Menu prices were pretty reasonable for Miami and they do offer a happy hour menu too. One of our favorite meals we had in Miami. Sat at the bar for the Sunday evening happy hour and thoroughly enjoyed both the happy hour cocktails they had on the menu. We ordered the rodeo za, which was super tasty and a good size. We loved the maple glaze on the crust, super unique and a great touch. Also LOVED the mushroom appetizer we ordered, probably just as much if not more than the pizza. Weird, weird and overpriced!! The food all sounded really good and adventurous, but the first thing we got was a $9 order of bread with olive oil. I usually refuse to pay for bread like that, but the bartender's enthusiasm for the bread and the 14 year old starter they work from made me intrigued. What showed up was a piece of bread the thickness of a pizza crust the size of a highball glass laid sideways. That's $9 at this place. I started looking on Yelp for where I could go to eat after this "meal", as this wasn't my first rodeo and I knew any place charging this much for this little would leave me hungry when I was done. We had ordered three entrees and this bread for three people. We paid $28 for a truffle, sausage, mushroom pizza that just left me sad. They had used some weirdo cheese on it that gave it a strange tang, like an off note on a piano, when that same note hit again for my second bite - that was it, done with that. I had really been excited by other reviewers pics of the lasagna, but no one pointed out that it is the length and half the thickness of two cigarette packs. The bartender where we were sitting noticed my search for other restaurants and didn't ask if we liked anything, he just kept pushing out the entrees. He obviously had seen this kind of dissatisfaction before and wasn't about to engage in how to fix it. Anyhow, by the time my two dinner partners at this crime scene were done, we all were still hungry and I had a good pizza joint picked for us to move on to. Before I delve into the food, I want to congratulate the sommelier and waitress who were nothing more than amazing.
