Delightful, warm, welcoming restaurant in a wonderful, colorful location steps from the pier and beach. Service couldn't have been better. The grilled artichoke is a can't miss. The mahi mahi sandwich was just great and the shrimp and grits were outstanding, everything fresh as could be and no skimping on portions Mai tai's were on point. It wasn't cheap but still marginally less than other nicer places out there for seafood and landlubber fare, especially the cocktails. Highly recommended, an afternoon or evening here will be the cornerstone of a very pleasant outing. We'll sure be back. read more

Wow amazing! We arrived around 5 and were seated and greeted immediately. Started with a couple of drinks and Calamari appetizer. The Calamari was so good! Crunchy and not greasy. I had the Seared Ahi and it was melt in your delicious. The rice and green beans were a good pairing. The coctails left a lot to be desired, they were very stingey with their pours, martinis were small and they charged 50 cents extra for each blue cheese olive, and a surcharge if you didn't use their well vodka. Paid $18.00 each for a very small drink. They also tax the waitress tips. Parking is a problem, it is street parking only, but if you drive around enough you will eventually find a spot. read more

We were in the area and some friends had recommended it, so we decided to try out Walt's Wharf for lunch. Fish and Chips - beer battered Atlantic Cod + classic coleslaw + house fries + tartar sauce. The portion of the fish was nice and came with three pieces. Fish was cooked just right and crispy; a well balanced batter. Coleslaw was standard to what I've had at other places. Instead of fries, I asked to have it replaced with a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was creamy and flavorful. The others at the table got the Grilled Mahi Mahi Tacos and Pasta Pescatore. They both enjoyed their dishes and recommended it. Restaurant has a neat, older design, which is fitting. Service was pretty good given how busy it was that day. We had lunch here for my Dad's birthday. My Mom had made a reservation and we had a long table set up for us. It was a big party of about 11 people. Our waitress was really nice and accommodating. Some of my relatives had brought wine and my Mom brought a cake that the wait staff poured and served to us. To start I got the lobster bisque and while it did not have any lobster pieces in it it had a deep and rich lobster flavor that was amazing. Some of the best lobster bisque I've ever had. We also had some artichoke to start which was pretty good and came with a mayo based sauce. For my entree I ordered the grilled mahi mahi sandwich. The piece of mahi mahi in my sandwich was very big and the warm and brioche bun held everything together. The fries were thick, yet crispy. All the food here was really good. We came in for a late lunch and chose to sit at lounge area. The bar area looked very cozy and relaxing, our window table was spacious and comfy. The menu was so extensive with lots of good seafood items. The happy hour deals were great on black board so if you are local this is a good happy hour spot from Mon.- Fri. 3-6pm. Table bread was French bread which was yummy with warm butter. We started with clam chowder soup and lobster & artichoke dip with baguettes. The dip was one of the best I'v ever had in a long time. For entrees hubby had clam linguini which was delicious and comforting. I had seafood platter which was fresh and tasty. For drinks I had mimosa, Grey Goose lemon drop and B-52 coffee drink without whipped cream. All drinks were strong and tasty pours. They didn't have espresso so hubby just had coffee which was not strong enough to his liking. The food and drinks were all reasonably priced in healthy portions. Our servers were very friendly and attentive the entire time. We had a very pleasant late lunch here, so glad that we came in to try this great seafood restaurant and bar. Nice, breezy bike ride from Lakewood to Seal Beach on Memorial Day to our fave spot! We have loved dining here for 6 years together. We were so sad to read that it was closing permanently due to the pandemic, but it's seemingly been thriving...thank goodness. We ordered the fish & chips & albacore melt. Been going to Walt's for years, Tonight I had my Mom and Sister with me, started with the artichokes (fair) then coconut shrimp ( Shit) Like out of a bag bad. Next was Walt's house salad ( good) So then we went with sea food platter- shrimp, scallops, clams, lobster, sounded really good,oh I forgot the mahimahi... this platter was so bad I was embarrassed.the so called mahi was less than an inch long and the same width. The smell of the fish on the grill were awesome as we waited for our table. We ordered a cup of Clam Chowder, the Catfish, Fish and Chips, and a wedge salad. Incredible Clam Chowder, nice big clams, surprise healthy sized crab pieces, and a great base that was not too creamy. The Catfish was good and well seasoned and the cilantro cream and polenta were a flavorful accompaniment. The fish of the fish and chips was good, nice big uniform pieces of cod, but the fries were soggy. The wedge salad was not so good. Lettuce was a weird texture and not fresh and crispy like you would expect from a wedge salad. For drinks we had a Mai Tai and an Anchor Steam draft beer. The Mai Tai was not very good, lacked the tropical flavor, although the pour seemed generous enough. I think that was because the rum was on top, but the rest was mostly ice. The Anchor Steam was flat. Service and cleanliness were not as good as the food. Service was a little dismissive and inattentive, but it was the cleanliness is what really brought the rating down.
