Atmosphere is calming and casual. Food is consistently delicious. Service has always been grand. It's become one of our top 10 favorite restaurants around our new residence in Madison, MS. Warehouse No 1, I have always heard such amazing things about your restaurant. Tonight, The tab was high as an electricity bill, as expected and I would have never complained, however ... my filet was way over cooked and cold AND y'all literally have mice. The waitress did not care that my steak was an ice cube. On the mice issue, I know some Jena boys who run a dang good Pest Control service. I'm glad I had this reminder that not everything is as it seems. The best lesson is still a bought lesson I suppose. I'm sure you won't miss my funds as much I do. What a pleasure. Upscale Louisiana food. Crawfish etouffee which I had never had before and totally enjoyed, fluffy gentle little hush puppies, 6 baked oysters (2 each of three styles) and shrimp with 3-cheese grit cakes. Everything was beautifully presented! I wanted to love the oysters but even though they were cooked, I still couldn't eat them. I tried 2 different styles and then I said no thanks and they took them off my bill even though they were gorgeous and perfectly cooked! This place was so warm, so welcoming and the staff was attentive and just lovely! There was even a woman playing the piano to add to the great atmosphere. My server, Rhonda, was happy to tell me some details about the food and the pride with which they make their dishes. Ask for her. She is a dear! read more

Wow, Great recommendation! I went with a party from work. This is what I would describe as a Cajun/American restaurant. Warehouse No. 1 was recommended by friends and is worth a stop if passing through Monroe. I am giving it a three stars for two reasons. We had two redfish dishes, both were good but the fish was overcooked. The quail appetizer and jalapeño grits were great. The biggest problem was the server. She could just never get it right and it was always someone else's fault. It took 20 minutes to get a drink from the bar and she would say the bartender forgot to finish the drink, they are busy..... We were here for a Christian Couples Ministry gathering. Several of us had to wait over 20 minutes for someone to bring SEATS for us out to the patio area which we had called ahead to RESERVE for our group(then had to share with another group). The fellowship was EXCELLENT!!!!(hats off to the organizers of our event. We love you!) The food was not so good and the service was deplorable!(food brought out to us cold, and some NEVER got what they ordered.) My order was mixed up with someone else's. Then they had the nerve to include an 18% GRATUITY to your ticket. Worse $65 we ever spent!!!!! We will pass this place up on our next outing. My husband and I definitely WON'T be back. read more

Visited Warehouse 1 on a recent business trip to Monroe. It came highly recommended from several locals. The ambience is really neat- it is really located inside an old warehouse (with original wood floors and cypress beams). The warehouse was once a store house for cotton and dried goods that came up and down the Ouachita River on their way to and from New Orleans. The warehouse sits right on the Ouachita River and watching the river as you eat is really quite nice. The day I visited they seemed to be having some problems in the kitchen and although our waitress apologized profusely, the service was slow. They did comp my glass of wine though. The food was good. My coworker got the jalapeño cheese grits and said they were phenomenal. I got the fried catfish plate- which was good but not phenomenal. Overall, I would go back to Warehouse 1, hopefully on a day when their kitchen is in order. read more

As I slowly rediscover Monroe, the Warehouse is becoming my favorite place to eat in the city! I lived in Monroe for about 4 years while I went to university, but I was always too poor then to eat anywhere remotely decent - much less the Warehouse. But now, 6 years later, I'm coming to Monroe about once a month for work. And oh, em, gee do I love the Warehouse! The servers are all very sweet, polite, and insanely helpful - the polar opposite of the ones at Copeland's. But that's a whole other review. The food is top-notch. Both times I went, I had the peppered filet in a red wine reduction. Oh holy cow! Seriously. This was hands-down the best steak I've ever eaten in my life. And I've had steak in Argentina - the supposed steak capital of the world. I've also had two desserts here - seven layer chocolate stuff and bread pudding. Both of these were excellent! I'm SO looking forward to many more trips to the Warehouse! read more

Gets three stars ONLY by virtue of being a seafood and meat-eater's paradise. All of the seafood, chicken, and beef parts of the meals here are well-prepared and pretty tasty. Unfortunately, that's all that this restaurant knows how to prepare. I like variety and balance, so I've tried the pasta (rosalie, I believe). The sauce was a somewhat interesting, but undeniably fattening, tomato+cream sauce. However, the pasta was overcooked, far beyond al dente, which made eating it unenjoyable. Vegetables are simply boiled and then slightly seasoned, but are tasteless. Same goes for the rice. The baked potatoes are just fair, no better than what you can find at Wendy's. Thankfully, the Caesar salad was decent in taste, preparation, and proportions. I believe it came with an especially salty but tasty feta cheese. Dessert was just as disappointing. I ordered a slice of strawberry cheesecake. The cheesecake itself was obviously not fresh or prepared at the restaurant - it was still thawing and somewhat freezer-burnt. The cheesecake was also dense like a rock and quite a chore to eat. Nothing special about the taste, which borderlined 'bad' because of the sour, also-still-frozen strawberries which were placed on top. There was no strawberry syrup or any hint of strawberries in the cheesecake itself. I've made better myself. It's also worth noting that this restaurant does not seem to prepare some other items themselves, such as the cheesesticks and other appetizers. Quite disappointing overall, but this place is extremely popular and gets excellent word-of-mouth reviews by EVERYONE I know - most likely because of being a seafood and meat-eater's heaven, and as long as you don't eat anything else. Unfortunately, in the microcosm that is North Louisiana, meat and almost-exclusively meat is a typical dietary custom. Service was good. Note: Not by -any- means vegetarian friendly. read more

So consistently good is this place. My 5 year old son demands we go here for they're baked oysters and sea bass if they have that special available. The outdoor seating has always been my favorite part. Service has never been extraordinary for me but never bad. I have only been here once but my experience was just awesome! When our group of eight entered the restaurant we were promptly greeted by the host and seated immediately. The waiters were both vivacious and attentive. We sat inside at a table by the patio where you can see a nice view of the Ouachita River. The boyfriend and I split a fried oyster po boy and a cup of gumbo. The po boy was delicious. The oysters were perfectly fried and not overdone like fried food can be. Friday night no reservations with a group of 5. Pleasant atmosphere upon entering the restaurant, had a pianist playing. Told 20 minute wait time. Actual time was 40 minutes. Another 15 and we got our drinks and buttery hush puppies. Had inexperienced servers working who messed up 2 of our orders and omitted one thing our group ordered all together. Food came out 30 mins after the drinks. 30 minutes isn't bad but we ordered at the same time we got our drinks. Food as a whole was a little below average for a restaurant. High point was the crab cakes. Low point was the shrimp sampler. All the shrimp was cold. The mash potatoes also tasted like they where instant. I ordered the fried catfish platter regular size. The fish was good but a little below average for the quality of taste for fried catfish in the area. Price is suited for the atmosphere but not the quality of food or service. read more

Extremely fun place to hang out. My usual thing is to sit at the bar....work, drink and eat....kinda in that order. Brandon was a superb server and the fried oysters was extremely good. Next time I come back I will try the baked oysters as I just found out that they are excellent. This place has good food. I love when they have the seabass. Only gripe I have is they jam all the tables so close it's really uncomfortable at times. We have been to Warehouse a lot and prefer the outside because you get a lot more space. Food is great just a little cramped. read more

This place is so amazing! The service was superb and Kayleigh, our server, was polite, knowledgeable and very professional. The food was delicious. We started with an appetizer of crawfish tails...delicious. My husband has the shrimp and grits...amazing! The dried up bits of grits were so flavorful and unexpected! I ordered the Redfish Louisannne, and oh my goodness!!!! It was beyond wonderful! I highly recommend it! The atmosphere was cozy on a rainy day and the piano player made it that much cozier! Traveling from Florida to Texas we stayed in Monroe a nd wanted to have a nice dinner. We were delighted with our choice. Great table on patio and beautiful sunset overlooking the river.. The food was outstanding. My peppercorn filet was so tender and tasty and my husband enjoyed the Lousiane redfish. He had the strawberry shortcake and loved it. My bread pudding was perfectly cooked with a nice sauce but my only disappointment of the evening was it had chocolate in it. Just prefer none . Which I'm sure many would love. Great restaurant! We stopped here for lunch on our trip from from Dallas to South Carolina. Friendly staff, interesting historical location, great view of the river.
