This restaurant has outstanding service. They were very busy and packed and still very respectful about holding our reserved table for us when we were pretty late. They brought the food out for us VERY fast and everyone on the staff was extremely accommodating and nice. Hidden gem. My husband and I stumbled upon this cute little sushi bar hidden in the back of a small hotel our first night back in Waikiki. It's a tiny old world, authentic looking Hawaiian/Japanese restaurant. There are maybe 6-8 seats at the bar, and id guess 14 tables. Reservations needed or there will be a good wait. My husband being from the islands, is a sushi snob... to say the least. We ate there 3 out of 10 nights. I'm sure it would have been 6 but I had to control him. The fish was so fresh. I think we covered about everything on the menu including the specials. A fish orgy for sure. It was all fantastic as well as the cold sakis on the menu. The service was impeccable. You would not know you were even in the United States. Small space with low woven ceilings, trade winds blow the little curtains covering the open door to a vintage hotel pool area. Quaint, in a time warp right in the middle of Waikiki. A pleasure. read more

Tucked away in The Breakers Hotel across the street from Lahaina Shave Ice, this gem was such a great find! Amazing service & ambiance. The food was more than amazing. We had our three year old with us who wanted to stay in her stroller. They let us roll it right up to the table and provided cute shatter-proof pink dining set for her to enjoy her udon. yellowtail carpaccio, sashimi salad, spicy tuna on crispy prawn chip, regular sushi and cut roll assortment, uni sushi. DINER BEWARE !!! - THE MANAGER MAY HARASS YOU - We have eaten there 8-10 times and it was our favorite place for Japanese food, until we were confronted by the manager on the amount of tip we left. My companion paid and left 10% tip unbeknownst to me. When we were leaving the Manager asked me in an un-polite voice; "Was the service good? and I said yes. Again he asked; ""Was the service good as you only left 10%". I said service was OK. "Well you should have paid at least eighteen (18%) percent," in a hostile voice where other Diners were overhearing. I did not respond and left. Needless to say we will never return and his restaurant lost a good customer. I NOT LONGER RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT. read more

Went for my 20 year wedding anniversary weekend and I wanted sushi. This place is a gem. It is oddly located in a hotel-like location so outside is a motel/hotel pool. It was cute but just oddly placed. The food is DELICIOUS! My husband and I could not decide what we liked more. I took pictures but then sometime the food looked so good I forgot...but included a few. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly and the food came out FAST. We were so lucky to get the table at 5:15pm. Honolulu is getting so hard to get whatever you want. This place was amazing. The sushi, sake, tempura, everything was delicious. Since we can't go to Japan now, this is the closest we can get. It was great! Almost perfect. What a nice hidden gem in Waikiki! I never would have thought that a cozy restaurant inside a modest hotel would be such an amazing find. We had friends visiting from Canada and they recommended Wasabi Bistro. If they didn't discover it first a few days prior, I would have never have known this restaurant existed. If you're driving, park in the Bank of Hawaii parking garage. It's across the street and they validate. Think we only paid $6 when we left. The restaurant has dividers between tables and they check your temperature prior to entry. You will also need to provide your vaccination card/negative test result at the door. One person will have to sign in for the group as well. The staff are all wearing masks and you feel safe dining here. Our group ordered a bunch of appetizers, lots of sushi and bottles of sake. Everything was very good and our server, Thomas, was great. They do have a restroom but it's outside immediately to the right of their entrance/exit. Overall, great value for awesome food. Even though most Kama'aina stay out of Waikiki, my friends and I feel that we would definitely come back to dine here. Worth checking out for locals and tourists. read more

We had the best dinner of our entire trip at the Wasabi Bistro! We were there on the 27th of June. Sorry for the slow recommendation for this INCREDIBLE restaurant. The food at Wasabi Bistro was incredibly delicious! The service impeccable. The atmosphere lovely. The service was quick. Our waiter was so friendly and very knowledgeable about their menu and drinks. He took time to help us select the right type of Saki to match our meal. We had various Sushi and appetizers, all of which were amazing. The restaurant was very clean. The staff are taking COVID precautions seriously. We showed up at the last minute, 6:30, having not made a reservation. The manager was able to accommodate the three of us. Although I would highly recommend making a reservation since all restaurants in the Waikiki area are very busy right now. Don't miss having an incredible meal here. My mouth waters just thinking of it! On a sad note...A group who had a reservation after us at 7:45, for the table we were seated at, showed up early and became angry when the restaurant didn't have this table cleaned yet, even though they arrived15 minutes early. The manager had it ready quickly, 10 minutes before their actual reservation time, for them, but they became rude and left in a huff. To bad for them! They missed an amazing meal. read more

We did a staycation in Waikiki, my son wanted to have sushi. We were lucky getting reservations as almost everywhere else I checked before this place was either booked or had only late slots available. We arrived earlier than our time but was greeted and seated immediately. The servers were very attentive from beginning to end. As this was our first time, I appreciated that they took the time to answer all our questions regarding their menu choices. We had the spicy tuna on crispy rice, son enjoyed his warm rib-eye, I loved the karaage Kauai shrimp, sushi was on point, fresh and tasty. Ooooohhhhh Wasabi!!!!! Thanks to Yuki, for allowing me to refrigerate my Royce's Chocolate that I bought at Waikiki Tea on our walk to the restaurant. Appreciate the gesture. Authentic Japanese sushi restaurant located in the historic Breakers Hotel. Its not the easiest play to find in the duplex with an 1970 hawaii vibe. The weather didn't help but once we got inside everything worked out. First the Sake started flowing and the food was outstanding. Fresh sashimi and Sushi and maybe the best butterfish that I've ever had. With covid protocols in place we all felt save and not overwhelmed, dinner isn't cheap but definitely a treat, I can still taste the Uni on the omakase delux chef choice, the Kampachi carpaccio, and the papaya seafood motoyaki finished it off perfectly we'll definitely come back one day soon. read more

I made reservations here to celebrate my 10 yr anniversary and I was pleasantly surprised. I knew it was going to be good but it more than exceeded my expectations. Our favorites were the soft shelled crab, the tuna with crispy rice, the regular plate sushi and the hamachi. We also ordered the baked scallop and that was very good as well. I've been here on O'ahu a week, and have splurged on nice dinners most nights. This is unequivocally the best meal I've had so far. The Crispy Rice Chips with Spicy Tuna were absolutely delicious, and it just got better from there. The sushi was perfectly sized, beautiful and tasty, and my god the Lady M cake (tip: pair it with the Salted Caramel Mochi). Last but so important: the tea. Tea can make or break a sushi experience for me, and the green tea they served was absolutely some of the best I've ever had. Had a wonderful night with local friends (who never heard of this establishment). The food and service were excellent...We especially enjoyed the Papaya Seafood Motoyaki with shrimp, scallops, papaya, and its sauce...it offered a rich seafood savory creaminess with the contrast of sweet papaya...yummy! This is definitely a gem of a restaurant here in Honolulu and a respite from the bustle of Waikiki. We'll be back! We are a family of 5 and went here during our last night in Honalulu. It was by far one of the best sushi places we had been to. The quality of the food was amazing, and the fish was so fresh. The food itself was so delicious everyone ordered more and more. The food came pretty fast as well. On top of that, the waitstaff and the owners were genuinely the nicest people ever. They were so kind and helpful and we really enjoyed our experience here. Our waitress was so kind and super sweet. After eating from dozens of sushi restaurants, this place tops the list. We found this place by chance while living in the embassy suites. It's a sweet little gem tucked away in an open hotel setting. It is literally a bamboo hut. The employees are ready to serve you the second you walk in, which is wonderful. We sat at the sushi bar the second time and the sushi chef prepared an array of dishes for us. Listen to me when I say, the hamachi carpaccio is the best on island. Better than Roy's, better than Taormina. It is heavenly. The fish is so fresh and clean. The menu I've not like the super Americanized sushi with fried everything. It's very basic, and they nail every thing they make. So delicious! read more

One of my favorite sushi restaurants. My son had the yellow tail tuna sushi. Each piece was $4.00 and worth it. I had the Wasabi 2 special ( crab) and mochi ice cream. It is a bit hidden and small. They checked for COVID-19 vaccinations. The staff was very friendly. It was a nice, cozy and informal setting. I only gave 1 star cause I have too. The portion size is super tiny, and this experience was the first time I had a restaurant straight up rip Me off. They gave us a menu, we ordered, got our check, and the prices on the check were all more $$$. We told the waitress and she went got a menu where prices matched the check. Confused, we thought we were wrong, then left and checked a different menu on the way out, and it had the cheaper prices. This place rips people off and gets away with it. We asked the manger he said, oh that's an old menu. DONT EAT THERE! EDIT: In response to Wasabi's response. I did not get prices from Open Table. The prices came from a menu your staff handed to us.
