First time in, won't be the last! The first thing I noticed was that (obviously the owner) is super close with everyone that came in or was leaving. Everyone was given a hug. I thought that was super sweet. The food was delicious, we had two miso soups, lion King roll, Godzilla and Peter #3. Some sushi places you go, everything tastes the same, not here! Everything had a different taste. This has been the only thing I ate today, and I don't regret it! There are TVs all around the place all playing different things. Football, volleyball, UFC... On Wednesday my boyfriend, daughter and I decided to stop in for dinner since it was a hot night and we didn't feel like cooking. I ordered the Peter K.P "Fusion Roll." This was one amazing roll, the fish was both flavorful and very fresh and paired well with their delicious cream cheese!! Not to mention it's served with perfectly seared ahi tuna, covered in a addicting sauce!! Seriously order this roll and thank me later, I can see why both Sacramento and Style magazine rated them the best sushi in the region!! My best friend and I came here to share a roll. We ordered the carmichael roll, pepperfin and a miso soup each. The poor waitress had to walk away when taking our order as she was coughing. My friend was a little put off by that. The roll was great with the appropriate amount of sauce. The pepperfin was fresh and tasty The miso was lite, I did have to add soy sauce to season it a bit. They also do no skimp on the ginger and wasabi. I will be coming back as the prices are good. I think that a sober experience there may change my mind about the overall appeal to the food, atmosphere and staff health. read more

Wow, we were recommended to try this restaurant. We no more than sat down when we decided to leave. Four people at the bar were so loud we could not hear each other let alone hear anything else. We left before we could even order. The waitress even acknowledged that it was too loud and the people were out of line. While we were walking out the door one of the loud men at the bar made a snide comment that we should go to McDonalds. Whatever, suffice it to say, we will not return to try the food. Business owners need to be aware of problem clients and the volume of their really dumb stories -especially when they are all about 8 inches from each other. read more

This has been our favorite neighborhood sushi spot for years for their consistency, good service, and yummy rolls. Dining room is always clean, there are multiple TV screens so no matter where you sit you will have TV entertainment there if you want it. We have tried most of the menu and some of our faves include the paycheck, khoa, volcano, and scream rolls. I also like their pepperfin (served with a good helping of daikon radish). The manager was extremely rude! I don't like sushi but, the rest of my family loves it. So we always get myself something first. Before driving an hour to get there we asked if it would be ok for me to bring something to eat they said no problem. I ate before we even got there just had my drink left and I was trying to finish it. The "manager" began yelling at me about my drink even though my husband tried explaining that he asked before we got there. The manager said he doesn't care continued to yell at both of us basically called us liars saying that we didn't call. Not to mention there is nothing stating no outside food or drinks. Highly recommend NOT eating the California rolls here. I've tried California rolls from so many different sushi spots, never this bad. The crab is made out of literal imitation crab like store bought, basically the ones on the shelves. I've never had imitation crab in my sushi that is off the shelf. The rice was too over cooked, very mushy and the roll broke apart every time I picked up a piece. I'm only giving 1 star for how quickly the food was prepared and a second star because the avocado and seaweed are fresh. I will not be returning here again, especially because the customer service wasn't great. I love love love love this place! The service is 5 star EVERY. TIME. PERIOD. Sam's Rainbow is EPIC. Softness, saucy, firm rice, crunchy fried blue crab, it has everything you want, and nothing you don't! (Like that joke cream cheese and fake crab you see at so many grocery stores.) The fried oysters are huge, the sauce that comes with it is off the hook awesome, and the teriyaki beef is crave-able, and YES, I do crave it. Went to this place during my lunch break. First time here and the lady I dealt with was pretty rude. No greetings even after we made eye contact. I then asked her if they had a lunch special and with an attitude said no so I just stood there for a second silently thinking to myself "Am I tripping or is she kind of acting like a bitch o_0" when I asked for a menu she put her finger on the stack of menus without even thinking about handing me one so I just leaned over the counter to grab the menu myself lol. While I was reading the menu she then says "Just to let you know, we take really long in making our sushi" so I said oh ok, how long does it usually take? (I was willing to wait since my break was an hour long). She ends up saying "Idk, really long, we don't pre-make our sushi". Literally couldn't even answer my question and sticking with the same attitude. She ends up telling me my customers usually call in to pick up or door dash and she said that if I want a lunch special, there's an Indian place across the street lol. It's like she didn't want my business, so I'm assuming that the place is successful enough to refer customers elsewhere. I'm glad it worked out that way because the Indian place across the parking lot was bomb, super friendly and didn't refer me anywhere else. I came in for lunch and all I knew was that I wanted some rolls. I asked the waitress to suggest anything and she suggested the "sushi bento". Before the sushi arrived, she brought me a bowl of miso soup and that was ok. My food came out pretty quickly, in fact I wasn't quite done with my soup when it came out and that was good because there were only two other tables at the restaurant. The price for my dish was around 12 bucks and I've included picture so you can see what it looks like. What can I say about taste? It was good, I was starving so actually, it was delicious. I enjoy visiting new places during lunch because I get to see without the dinner madness, true service and I get to enjoy food that is not made in a rush because of large crowds. Came to eat here with no expectations, just an empty stomach and the family. We ordered different types of rolls (lion king, how we roll, viagra, scream 2 and two California rolls.) The cold hard truth is that the sushi rolls from this restaurant are the worst rolls I've ever had in Sacramento and pretty much ever. The rice didn't look or taste like sushi rice. All the rolls pretty much tasted the same because they had the same ingredients, just placed differently. The taste was not pleasing at all either, the fish tasted/looked old and some also tasted like freezer burnt. After the second bite I pretty much forced my self to eat. The only suggestion I have for this restaurant is to hire a new sushi chef, because if they make rolls using that rice they made , they would get fired at any other sushi restaurant. I have an upset stomach as I'm writing this (hopefully no food poisoning) so needless to say I won't be returning here. I HATE wasting food but I even threw away my left over. read more

The Lion King was a big, creamy, mushy, gross blob. If you just wanted a shot of fatty garlic cream sauce I guess you'd like it. The roll was not tasty at all and the soy wrap basically fell apart when you touched it, making it difficult to get from plate to mouth. There were two other rolls that were so forgettable that I can't remember the names. None of them are worth ordering again, especially at those prices, gah! Our service was ... just odd. I'd order a dish and it would get handed off to the other end of the table. One gal ordered beer, and same thing, a minute later it was delivered to the opposite end. Also, when the remaining party shows up, it's pretty customary to ask them what they'd like to drink. That didn't happen. I had to flag the hostess down. Maybe it was just too busy for that kind of focus, I don't know. I should have stuck with my original plan and ordered more of the sashimi I loved last time. The interior is kinda like an old casino buffet lookin' kind. Busy carpet. Neon lights. TVs. Nice people. Decent food. A lot of the patrons were chummy with the staff like it's their spot and from what we saw, everybody was happy. It was nice. Now, I wouldn't go straight up sashimi here. It wasn't that great. Our server took our order and as we ordered, she knew what was good and what wasn't. She didn't flat out say it but, her reactions from just writing it down to saying, "Good Choice" made sense when we ate.
