We recently visited Wasatch Bagel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. When we arrived, we were the only customers in the restaurant. A woman came out to take our order while licking her fingers, which was not a great first impression. Communication was also extremely difficult, as neither of the two employees working appeared to speak enough English to understand basic questions or concerns. When our food arrived, both meals had the wrong side orders. We had ordered sweet potato fries but received regular fries instead. The biggest issue was my brisket sandwich. It contained very little actual meat and was mostly fat. The brisket was tough and difficult to eat, and the orange cheese on top wasn't even fully melted. The employee watched as I picked large pieces of fat out of the sandwich, yet when I brought it back and explained that the meat was mostly fat, tough, and simply unacceptable, she just smiled blankly and appeared unable to understand what I was saying. The second employee was unable to help as well. In the end, we spent $42 and essentially ate a handful of fries. The food quality, incorrect order, lack of communication, and inability to address a customer complaint made for a very poor dining experience. While visiting Park City, we stopped at Wasatch Bagel & Grill after noticing their small location and a sign claiming they had the #1 burger. That definitely caught our attention--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. My son and I ordered burgers, and my daughter had the French toast. Everything was delicious. The burger was excellent--honestly, I also ate at 501 during this trip, and Wasatch's burger was definitely superior. There wasn't a long wait, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Because of that great experience, we came back the very next day for breakfast with my wife and daughters. We had to order the French toast again, along with a breakfast burrito for me, a garlic bagel egg sandwich for my wife, and pancakes for the table. We were not disappointed--everything came out perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Even the coffee stood out. We walked over from our ski resort on the recommendation of our hotel concierge, who said, "It may look like a hole in the wall, but it's where the locals eat -- and they have great burgers." After a brisk one-mile walk, we arrived at a cozy little spot with maybe ten tables and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. During that time, there was no acknowledgment and no "I'll be with you in a moment" which made it feel as though I wasn't noticed. The food was delivered hot off the grill. The staff was friendly and very attentive to our needs. The Asian burger came with lettuce, cheese, tomato, pickle and an amazing sauce. It was perfectly cooked to order, moist, very flavorful and great seasoning. The fries were lightly coated and had a very good crunch. The rings were crispy, not over battered and had a good ratio of coating to onion. The helpings were generous and a good value. The condiment bar was a nice addition. It would appear I'm in the minority here, as one who visited for dinner and ordered a burger. That menu is full of bagel things and coffee things and most of the reviews are for the breakfast things. But nope, it was dinner. It's also a strange choice for a birthday, but when a nearby option turned out to be full, we just sorta wandered down here and decided that a burger was exactly what the doctor ordered, and being together with someone you love on your birthday if far far more important than the grub. But also, having a burger is never a bad idea. I laugh when I see self proclaimed "Best X in town" because it's a meaningless claim and in the age of Yelp data, we can actually just look up who has the best X in town. They claim this about the burger, so I was encouraged. It appears they share a kitchen with Tarahumara and you can move between the two spaces inside, where there's a soda fountain serving both. I ordered the California burger, and my girlfriend ordered the bleu cheese burger. We both opted for fries, and after a short wait, headed out to the patio for some of that patented Park City mountain air at sunset. I don't mind a battered fry, so I was a fan. The burger was also just fine, though both could have really benefited from several more shakes of salt. The bleu cheese burger was better, but I got no complaints about my avocado-topped creation. Indeed, it was a lovely night. It's one of the cheapest options in Park City (but do recall, you are in Park City). Sitting there on the patio, laughing about the monster truck audio that was being piped out of the speaker, talking about the trip we were supposed to be on but weren't (long story), I was reminded very strongly that it is true.
