QUESTIONABLE AND DECEPTIVE BILLING PRACTICES What should have been a simple refund has turned into filing complaints with state and local Consumer Protection agencies. AND a dispute for services not rendered with my FSA healthcare account administrator. I needed to make appointment for root canal. I'm told their out of network specialist had 1 appointment upcoming. I made the appointment. In good faith, I made the requested deposit $895.52 patient portion. I found a specialist within my network with an earlier appointment. I called to cancel the Washington Dental appointment 5 business days before the appointment. I was told I could forfeit 50% of my deposit or my deposit could be applied towards other treatments with Washington Dental. I brought it to the representative's attention that I had not started treatment. The response was that the dentist considers treatment starting once the appointment is made. This dentist essentially charges for appointments. If you are told you need to pay your patient portion in advance of the treatment in order to schedule the appointment, go some where else. Once they have any deposit from a patient there is no intention of refunding the deposit whether treatment is rendered or not. I've been a patient here since 2015. Their policies have changed over time. The "Cancellation" policy is specific to appointments. Appointments cancelled before 48-hour window are not subject to the $50 cancellation fee. HOWEVER, they use their more recent "Cancellation of Contract" policy to charge 50% of the treatment cost when their "Cancellation" policy does not apply. It uses language like "patient is responsible for treatments rendered and completed", "cost of laboratory test", and "if patient cancels treatment at anytime" to justify their 50% charge. I acknowledge that I signed these policies. But here is the deception, neither document is a contract. I have not entered into contract with Washington Dental. Neither document is an enforceable contract. Any Washington Dental representative telling a patient that they have signed a contract is misleading and deceptive. Contracts must have an offer, acceptance of offer, cost, date, signature of patient and dentist representative, and performance of offer. It also stands to reason that charges billed to the insurance companies can't be made until services are rendered, not before. Charging an insurance company for treatments not rendered is insurance fraud. So, charging the patient's portion before treatment is rendered is a highly questionable business practice. This dentist wants money. They took pictures and x-rays then came back with a bill that included $4,000 worth of work. Including a $400 deep clean that they wanted half down for HALF the cleaning that day. They said I had 5 cavities and would need a fake tooth and wanted me to sign up for a credit card because my insurance "doesn't cover it" Went to a different dentist for a second opinion, I don't need a $400 deep cleaning, or a $2,500 fake tooth and I DO NOT have 5 cavities. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dental office! The staff can literally turn your bad day upside down. Karina, Martha and Priscilla are the best! They have such warm personalities, great customer service , impeccable professionalism, I mean the compliments can go on forever. They worked with my difficult schedule and helped me with my anxiety about going to the dentist. I read another comment saying they are money driven, (even though was business isn't??) but my experience with this office was totally different. They offered me multiple payment solutions and were very clear with what my insurance covered and what was not covered. The staff actually smiles at you, speaks to you kindly and is very accommodating, always asking if you want water, coffee, etc. I went there to get my wisdom teeth removed which is daunting but Dr Perri took all four of my wisdom teeth out and I literally did not feel it AT ALL! Such a great staff all around!!! I had an abscess and my former dentist was not able to take me right away, as I was in extreme pain and discomfort. Mind you, the abscess was so bad that not even ibuprofen would help. I called around to a few places and got immediate help with Washington Dental right away, as they took me the same day! I was seen right away and was prescribed antibiotics to help with my infection. I could not have asked for a better experience and really love the entire staff. I love my smile since I've been coming here. The girls and dr are great. I used to have pain generally bc I grind my teeth. My night guard helped me a lot. A lot of drs didn't know what my problem was. And many of them told me I need a lot of dental work to fix the problem. Dr farnaz diagnosed my problem right away. She said she sees areas that I am putting to much pressure and recommended a night guard. I've been wearing it for months now and I have no problems. As a person with inherently bad teeth I have had a lot of dental work. I recently moved to this area and in a matter of a few months I have come in for one root canal, two crowns and one cleaning. (I have had these same procedures before) I could not be happier with this dentistry. For one I am extremely sensitive and everyone -- dental hygienist, dental assistants, and doctors -- are very responsive to my pain and VERY careful. I haven't felt pain once here. Also every woman working the front desk is an absolute delight. Having managed and trained my own line of receptionists, it is easy to see they really take joy in giving great service. They have clear and open communication regarding; appointments, reminders, costs of procedures and future needs for their clients. This place SUCKS. went in 10/16 bc they advertise "Free Exam & Digital X-Rays from all new patients" on their website and I have been dealing with tooth pains. At the end of my appointment I was told I needed a root canal in that tooth and a list of a bunch of other things I needed done with a total of 5k, I let Martha know it was too much for me and I couldn't pay that all at once, they offered a payment plan & pressured me into making a decision without giving me time to think and just standing over me waiting for an answer. She had me sign papers without CLEAR explanation of the forms. I had a follow up appointment 10/23 to begin the root canal. On 10/20, I gave them a call after lots of thinking and asked to cancel everything and that I'd no longer like to proceed bc I CANNOT AFFORD IT. the girl I spoke to showed no empathy and just convinced me to come in 10/23 and they'd "help me get a partial refund" I called a second time to confirm I will be receiving that refund because if not I'd like to cancel obviously... Leasle let me know Martha would be giving me partial refund, so I settled for that and kept my appointment. When I came in 10/23, the first thing I wanted to discuss was the partial refund. Martha comes over and let's me know that "it needs to be reviewed by upper management" and proceeds to convince me to start my root canal and we'd discuss that later. I told her what Leasle said over the phone and she said it wasn't true... at this point i'm so upset, I lost a day of work (a job a JUST started) and literally only kept the appointment because I was told i'd get the partial refund. They all head to a room to discuss and a rude girl comes out and the first thing she says is "are you going to get the work done today or not we have a specialist here and if you don't get the work done you will be charged a fee for them coming out here" literally did not care to hear me out and just lacked empathy completely. I say no bc I was lied to, she then said i'd be charged for the exams & x-rays, and 50% of the loan if I want to cancel everything. EVEN IF I GET NO WORK DONE.. and that the loan company would side with them because of that contract. I said OK and left because I KNOW contracts can be broken and by LAW you cannot charge someone for a service that was never provided. She told me 10/23 she'd give me a call by 10/30 to discuss "what I owe" she never called me. MONEY HUNGRY PEOPLE. THEY DO NOT GENUINELY CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PERSONAL ISSUES. read more

First and Foremost I would like to say thanks for their office staffs, dental assistants, & doctors they are really friendly, helpful & kind. Flashback in 2015 they helped my mom for tooth extraction and full denture as well, everything went perfect without any problems. Fast forward in 2019 they cleaned my tooth and they performed tooth extraction for my 4 wisdom tooth and everything went well, after a week from surgery I was fully recovered without any problems, in my own opinion they have one of the best oral surgeons out there. I was welcomed by the office manager Virgina, who was very helpful and checked me in very quickly. The office is very clean and nicely decorated, with a comfortable waiting area. Each patient area is very private and comfortable. My check up went very well and the overall office visit was easy and quick. There is plenty of parking outside the office. I really like this office because it's close to my parents home and only takes about 15 minutes for me to get here.
