The menu is very limited with specials listed and when you go to order it are told they don't have that special. The service was sub par to say the least. We had around 4 different servers jumping all around and we were placed in the back and forgotten about. The food was okay but not for the price you pay. At around 40 per person I better leave with the best food I've ever had. Spaghetti was awful tasted like pace picante and Parmesan as a sauce. If you need a larger space for celebrations, Waterloo is a decent choice for your gathering. They have a spaces inside depending on the size of your group and outdoor seating as well. I wouldn't recommend outdoor with the summer heat. You also get the traffic flying by on hwy 88. We had three tables worth of people and we started at a slow time (4pm on a Thursday), so the service was fast and the servers were nice. They accommodated space for gifts and flowers since the restaurant wasn't full. Since some menu items are only for certain days, I ordered the scampi with pesto. It was a lot of food and dinner came with a salad and bread basket for the table. I definitely took some home because I couldn't finish. They have a full service bar and when you're in a large group it's sometimes nice to be able to quickly order and pay from the bar. The servers were quick with drink orders as well. Overall the food isn't bad. I wish I could've ordered the Calamari, but that's only available on Friday if I remember correctly. Item availability is indicated on the menu. Wow totally worth the drive down here. A co-worker recommended this place and we finally were able to come down here. We came on a Saturday afternoon , late lunch and it was still packed. The stand is in towards the end of the bar. and the lady came from out of the bar to seat us. She asked if a high table was fine and I told her I was hungry and anywhere was good. She brought us to the back room . It's a nice size place and still packed. The place opens up to a big bar which you can eat at. There is a autographed baseball collection as you enter. It was my first time going to this restaurant. We were a party of four and our friend Steve Ding (who is a new elected BOS) treated us out to lunch. I had no clue this restaurant was so popular . It was very busy too. I noticed a lot of pictures of famous people on the wall that visited the restaurant at one point. The restaurant itself looks small from the outside but it's actually pretty big. I would have never guessed a restaurant existed in the area let alone a very popular one. I met friends here the other day for lunch. We started with some rib ends and calamari. Seriously, the ribs were melt-in-your-mouth tender and so flavorful. The calamari was good as well. I love food. I love home cooking and restaurant fare. I love Michelin Star restaurants and hole in the wall dives, when the food is delicious. Waterloo is a restaurant with a long history and a fun atmosphere. My husband and I were in the area and needed sustenance ASAP. He had been to Waterloo years earlier as had I. We decided to give it a go, and are we so glad we did! The interior is like an old dive bar/saloon, and I mean that in the best and most endearing way. It is the kind of place where there are no pretenses. It's a place where everyone is welcome. We were greeted and promptly seated. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart and took our order quickly and brought us our food as soon as it was ready. I ordered the pesto pasta with a side of minestrone soup and my husband ordered the cheeseburger. My soup was very tasty and warmed my tummy. The pesto was equally delicious and very filling. My husband said his burger was one of the best he has ever had. It's a good thing that Waterloo is not super close to where we live because we would probably eat there every week! Have given the Waterloo Inn some critical reviews in past. And they are so deserving of this review. Went on a Saturday evening, which may be their busiest time around 6:00 pm. So it was over 30 min wait time. Our group consisted of two children, a teenager, and 3 adults. I ordered a medium rare NY steak, my son ordered a whole slab of pork ribs, the teen ordered the rib steak special with shrimp, spouse had the salmon. All orders came with pesto, and we would share orders with younger ones. My son ordered a drink as That he thought had too many ice cubes in it. We started with a calamari appetizer, that kids always enjoy. Out came the salads that are always nice and crisp. Again, the kids really like the croutons and soft bread. Surprisingly, the picky teen ate her whole mixed green salad with Italian dressing. The entrees arrived in a timely manner. There were ample portions in all the plates. To start off, my NY was perfectly med rare, tender, juicy, and flavorful. What a treat. The son's order of ribs was not the fall off the bone, overcooked variety. But tender, tasty, with a slight bite and chew. With their Waterloo sauce, great! It made me forget the overcooked ribs I got in the past. The teens rib steak was just as tender and juicy say N Y steak. Her order of shrimp came in a mild sauce and were also very good. Wife always enjoyed the large portion of salmon and pesto. To say the least, we were very impressed with our entrees. There were lots to home.
