Seated right away and order taken in timely fashion and our waitress checked on us often ..very clean inside and ..some of our party ordered breakfast selections and some lunch ..also an order of fried okra for appetizer that we all picked at ..and it was plentiful !!! Of course I had the huckleberry lemonade and it was so good !!! Wedge of lemon on top and huckleberries all nice and drenched on the bottom ...mason jar rimmed in sugar and it was so good and refreshing !!!!! We stopped by Huckleberry's for lunch and had a mixed experience. The food itself was okay overall, though a bit pricey for what you get. The salads were fresh and crisp, which I really appreciated, and they were probably the highlight of the meal. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out as memorable enough to justify the higher prices. The service was great. Our hostess was genuinely fun, sweet, and welcoming, and that made a big difference in the overall vibe. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and attentive. That said, there was one major issue that's hard to ignore. There seemed to be a lingering sewer or plumbing-type smell throughout the restaurant. At first I thought it was just me, but the people I was dining with noticed it as well. It definitely affected the dining experience and made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. I'm not sure what the source of the smell is, but it's noticeable enough that it really needs to be addressed. With better air quality inside, this place could be much more enjoyable, especially since the staff is doing such a good job. Semi-good service, but everything felt a little rushed. When you walk into the building, you're immediately hit with a strong smell coming from the bathroom, which wasn't pleasant. The food was just okay, but the biggest issue was that while I was packing up my leftovers, I found a cockroach in my hash browns. I immediately told the staff, and they only refunded me $20 for my meal. Finding a cockroach in my food is completely unacceptable, and I expected them to handle the situation much better. I wanted to thank my mom for all she was doing taking care of me after my transplant. So I wanted to buy her breakfast. She's a breakfast person and we had been wanting to try this spot since we moved to Stockton 2 years ago. Inside was clean, spacious, customer service was prompt, but not accurate. We were seated immediately. They have a lot of nice decor inside! Our waitress didn't check on us much and over charged us. My mom ordered a waffle, eggs & bacon with hot chocolate. Her waffle was thick and delicious, eggs were kind of over cooked unseasoned, bacon was the thin kind & her hot chocolate looked like a kids hot chocolate and wasn't good. Aaliyah got French toast with strawberries and orange juice. She liked it, she finished it all. It was thick and fluffy, her orange juice wasn't freshly squeezed but good. I ordered the same as my mom but with a side of chili and water. The chili was not good at all... I can't even describe it, but Wendy has better chili than this place. I'm visiting the area from another country and my friend and I met at Huckleberry's on Waterloo Road for breakfast this morning. She lives in Sacramento and I'm staying in Modesto so we met halfway and chose huckleberries because they had some gluten-free options. I ordered the Mississippi skillet and some coffee. My friend ordered the pancakes and eggs and a cup of coffee. The skillet was a lot of food and I ate most of it, but decided to take part of it home. The waitress gave me a container and I put most of what was left over from my plate into the container. But I decided while we were talking, I would leave a little bit of food in my plate so that I could just nibble while we talked. That's when I looked down at my plate and there was a dead roach. I screamed, asked to speak to the manager immediately, and showed him what was in my plate. He picked it up and said yes that's a roach. I was so in shock I didn't take a picture. I didn't know what to say. In retrospect I should've taken a picture. Everybody in the Restaurant kept asking what was wrong. The manager apologized profusely, and of course we didn't have to pay for our meal. But this was the most shocking Gross experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I took my kids here for brunch. I had the chicken and waffles which turned out to be chickenstrips and waffles. The waffles were decent. The chicken strips were weird. They had a grainy texture in the breading. My daughter got the chicken fried steak which was decent. My other daughter got the spicy chicken sandwich which she enjoyed and my son got a kids burger which he also enjoyed. The muffin that came with the chicken fried steak was a delicious blueberry muffin. The ice tea that I ordered was real ice tea. However the strawberry lemonade my daughter ordered was gross. She never let our coffee cups get to the bottom. The restaurant has vintage items placed as decor. Food came to us in a reasonable amount of time. The food here is not good to me at all! I have ordered from here twice and both times I was disappointed! The garden scramble has mostly potatoes which it doesn't say in the description. No flavor at all and the Shrimp Po boys are nothing like the image they show you. The blueberry muffin that came with it was so stale I started checking it for mold. Never again! read more

Not busy at all in fact only our table and two other tables with customers. Lots of staff working. I seen at least 6 waitresses! Service, left a lot to be desired. Everything I asked for (tapatio or sample of gravy) was met with an eye roll from the waitress. They did their job, but grudgingly and barely. Never got refills on any of our drinks. We didn't ask but they were clearly empty. Asked for to go box, just one. Waitress fought two then when she seen I had two she said oh no you asked for one give that back. Just not friendly or polite. The request was reasonable just delivered wrong imo. Food does not match items in menu pictures. Red potatoes are very plain with little seasoning and in pictures had bell peppers and onions. See my photos for reference. I asked for my eggs on the side. When my order came there was no eggs. I inquired and they brought them out. No apologies no discount. Nothing. They give you a lot of food, huge portions! Would give five stars on value and portions if that was the only criteria I'm rating. Overall food was bland and lacked flavor. It was ok, not great! Lots of parking! Again would give five stars on parking too. I won't be returning, my daughter said she wasn't interested in giving it another try either. Service has gone down hill unfortunately despite them not being busy the wait for the food was ridiculous it was close to a 40 min wait and once the food arrived everyone's meal was cold. This is unacceptable no one wants to eat a cold skillet or Cajun Benedict. There was a foul almost rotten smell as soon as the plates hit the table I thought I was imagining it but then said something and everyone agreed. First time trying Huckleberry's today w/ the gram. Been wanting to try this place for a few weeks now. For those who don't know this is basically the same location as Perko's and the same great crew. I was so in love w/ Perko's & luckily I can say that you guys will love Huckleberry's too! It has great Southern favs, a nice Southern theme, & great customer service. Everyone is very friendly & accomadating towards their customers here. They wait times for your food are not long either. & they have beignets!!! If you ever watched Princess & the Frog you have an obsession for beignets (ben- yaayysss) lolol! So for starters got strawberry lemonades which are so cute because they come in mason jars!! & with lemon which makes it taste tart if love a little bit of sourness. The lemon is on the side just in case though. Then the menu has so manyyy options. Really wanted their breakfast but when I went it was almost 2 so decided to go more w/ lunch. So we got fish & chips and also their chicken sandwhich. Both were really good. And the chicken sandwhich i got was hugee. I'll be back for the beignets next time but omgg everyyhing was so good. This place is great with the aesthetics of being southern with all of the swamp and marsh decorations. They even play background noises of what the southern swamps would sound like too, gives it that in depth feel to it. At the same time, their food goes well with the theme of the restaurant as well and the quality is great and fair with the pricing. The service is kind, accurate, and fast as well. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is the only downside is they are only open in the morning and close in the afternoon, so unfortunately you won't be able to have the experience in the evening. I still highly recommend this place to anyone, especially with the unique southern theme of the restaurant. read more

The eggs were cooked perfectly, and we also got the iced coffee, which was on par with coffee establishments. Driving pass Vacaville and decided to stop at Huckleberry to give it a try. Saw hood reviews and great food pics.. Glad we got there before they got busy. We got seated on a timely manner. We started with the Mardi Gras Beignets 5 out of 10 It's obviously not like your typical beignets you find in NOLA I the ice caramel macchiato was actually good 9/10! The chicken fried stake was good , the hash-browns where super crispy at the top perfect Hickory smoked ham with sunny side eggs was also a good dish. Food was delicious. My dad has been talking about this as his go-to breakfast joint. Service & food excellent. Today it did not disappoint. I ordered the Ribeye & scrambled eggs. While the ribeyes was initially bluer than I like, it was corrected in no time & I have to say, I was impressed by the size & quality of the steak. Usually at places like this, the steaks are thin & lacking flavor. That was not at all the case today. My dad ordered his usual, Hucks combo, I think, & the size & thickness of the ham steak was impressive. Also very flavorful. I can see why this is my dads go-to. I love that the staff know him & it is comforting to know he is well taken care of when he comes here. read more
