I had the Waterloo special with chicken and ribs. It cae with a choice pesto spaghetti, baked potato or something else (I forget). I chose the baked potato. it also came with a choice of soup or salad ; I chose minestrone soup. The minestrone soup was delicious and had a great flavor.The chicken was cooked well and it has a great flavor the ribs were okay, not very meaty. My husband had the steak and it was delicious! Amazing taste and texture the potato was cooked just right. The only thing that needed work was that the food was not as hot as I would have liked it probably because we had a big party there and they one to bring our food out at the same time. read more

If i could give negative stars i would! You could not pay me to go back to this place. We waited 40 minutes to share a table. You could literally see the puddle of water on the plate from the "salad"! The bread was not cut through and SO tough, if you like stale bread this is the place for you! Followed by my fiancé's drink being messed up. Then of course the "famous" streak with no flavor that had to be drenched in BBQ sauce and a salmon with ZERO flavor as well YUMM. With a side of oil the call a pesto pasta. If you love over prices less than mediocre food head on down to the Waterloo Club. Not to mention our waitress was beyond rude and we were told we couldn't sit and our own table because "they were for appetizers and drinks only" as 3 other couples were sat down and served full course meals. I go to The Waterloo about once a month, i love it! I have yet to have a bad meal and i have tried everything on the menu. The service is usually hurried due to the high demand to get people in and out as quickly as possible. I get that since they are a business and you do what you have to do to make it work. The bar staff is inconsistent but that's OK because they are friendly and i go for the food. I love their peppercorn sauce on the steak especially when it mixes up with the pesto pasta that i also dearly love. The salad and bread always fresh and plentiful.The mushroom bowl is the only thing i don't care for and it's not terrible, just not my taste.You have to love the atmosphere and you feel comfortable no matter what your wearing or who you're with, it's noisy and full of customers all the time. read more

Horrible service.. I usually don't do yelps and would not do this unless I felt like I had to; I had a horrible and rude server named Julia who did not bring us out our appetizer we ordered and brought us the wrong pitcher of beer out to us numerous times. I ordered the salmon and then she brought me out ribs and made me wait over 20 minutes for it while my friends and family ate.. didn't offer dessert or anything. A lively atmosphere with some pretty good food. My friend and I split a Waterloo special. They charged us a $3 split plate fee but we did each get out own soup. We had the minestrone and potato cream soup. Both were flavorful and tasty. The ribs and chicken were both done well. The ribs were cooked just right- tender but still slightly firm to the bite- and the BBQ sauce was amazing. The chicken had a nice smokey flavor. The pesto sauce was delicious but the noodles were overcooked. It's a little pricey for BBQ but the portions were generous. Even sharing the plate my friend and I had some leftovers. Growing up in Linden, Waterloo club has been a family staple. My aunt used to make the pies for Waterloo club. I have fond memories of sitting in the kitchen and grubbing on ribs and pesto. They a little bit of everything... Salads, bread, pesto, spaghetti, ribs, chicken, salmon... everything is good. Try the calamari or mussels appetizers. YUM!!! So good. The staff at the Loo are all amazing. WOOHOO. Love that you can buy their bbq sauce in stores.... "Waterloo ca sauce" IS SOOOO DAMN GOOD. I crave this bbq sauce and its rosemary flavor. One of the best places in the Stockton area. Finally went to the Waterloo Club after years of driving by. My son loves this place so my wife and I took him there before he went away back to college. We sat outside on the patio which I liked though it was a bit warm out there. It was a nice causal atmosphere. We each had the ribs, pesto pasta, and salad. Started with a nice fresh salad with the house dressing and bread. Both good. Next the St. Louis cut ribs were really meaty and cooked the way I like them. I don't like them falling off the bone so much and these were still nice and tender. The sauce wasn't too heavy and you could really taste the meat. You got 6 ribs in a serving which is plenty for most people. On the side was a big serving of the pesto pasta which had a nice and creamy sauce that was tasty. Lots of simple quality food. All this for under $20 and a $4 draft to go with it and you got yourself a bargain. The service was great too. read more

The Waterloo was packed as usual on a Saturday night. Their bar is always busy and the bartenders are great. The food is good. The New York steak, ribs and the chicken were great. Tonight our pasta was over cooked and thus mediocre. Service staff was great and attentive in dealing with our group of kids and adults. Other than the pasta being over cooked the only other negative was the restroom in the patio area was messy. I would call and make reservations I if you have a large party. Don't listen to people who don't like this place. They probably don't like much of anything. This is one of my favorite Valley restaurants. Food is excellent, service is OK to great (they didn't bring us any bread today - I thought it was standard issue), prices are acceptable/par for the course. I don't think its expensive in regard to dinner - maybe if you're used to going to say, Applebee's or some crap chain like that. I had the ribs & chicken (which is usually heralded as the best thing here) the first time I went. The creamy pesto is also a classic. I've also went for lunch a few times and the prices are extremely reasonable for lunch. I think my service hurt a little today as I came in my A's hat and the waitresses were all bedecked in Giants attire. Or maybe I'm just paranoid. I dunno. Anyhow, the only other knock I have (which is minor) is that its a LONG ways from home - god I wished we had something like this closer to home! In regard to being rushed in/out, if it's a weekend night, well, then they are pretty damn busy. I don't blame them for wanting to serve as many customers as possible. If you want to sit there and dine for hours, then go to a 5-course restaurant perhaps. read more

My boyfriend and I found this place on Yelp so we decided to give it a try it since we are big on ribs and steak. They did not disappoint! The portions are extremely generous and the food is always fresh. Matt and Kelsey at the bar are so damn cool, most of the time we actually decide to eat our dinner at the bar just for their company. We enjoyed watching the TV and listening to the great country music with some good conversation and excellent food. What more can you ask for in a dining experience. We are hooked! I have lived in Stockton for over 10 years and am just now giving this place a try. Oh. My. God. I have never had such amazing ribs and chicken AND PESTO. Their pesto is out of this world and the BBQ sauce is to die for. Service was impeccable and comfortably homestyle. If you want comfort food, do yourself and this family a favor, SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS AND THE WATERLOO RESTAURANT! I have visited this establishment 3 times in the past 5 months and each time the food gets worse. I was there for a company Christmas party in their banquet room. The staff was friendly but the food is unpalatable. The chicken served that night to our kids was extremely dry. The steak my husband received had too much peppercorn seasoning and the pesto pasta they served to everyone (family dinner style) had no flavor. We thought we would give this place a second try and went out for lunch around March of this year. We ordered the lunch steak sandwiches and had a salad. The salad was ok but then again how can you really mess up a salad? (WRONG! Just wait till the third visit) As for the steak sandwiches the meat had no flavor and was dry and over cooked. As for the third visit, a family member really wanted to eat ribs and since this place is known for their ribs they suggested we eat here again. WHY?!?! so on May 10th I, along with six other people give this place a try again. I stayed away from their overpriced meat entree and ordered the a soup (Minestrone) in a bread bowl and salad. The appearance of the soup when brought to the table was terrible. Half of the bread bowl was soggy and leaking all over the plate. Who wants to eat soggy bread? The taste of the actual soup was disgusting! The Italian spice blend over powered the entire dish making everything taste bitter. And lastly that salad.... the lettuce was already browned in many parts of it so it was either old or sitting too long. They must also place it in water because when I went to move the salad around a puddle water was at the bottom of the plate. I sent the food back this time since I was highly dissatisfied on what was just served. Waterloo Restaurant has gone down in the quality of food they serve. First let me say....Even one star is too much!!!!!! I heard this was a great place to eat until I ate there. When I recieved my food it wasn't even hot! I ordered the Chicken and Ribs and when they brought the food to me it looked absolutely unappetizing. I was expecting a chicken breast (for the price of the plate) and received a big thigh and leg they later told my boyfriend that you would have to request a chicken breast. WHAT???? Not a bad place to eat at; great rustic decor. Their BBQ sauce is unique. It's very good. I have never had an Italian style barbeque sauce before. The service was OK, not great, not awful. I would have expected better for the gratuity amount that was added to my bill. I don't care for their $3.99 split meal policy. No other restaurant I have been to, even the fancy restaurants in San Francisco, charge customers to split a plate. If you are going to charge customers to split a plate, you should give the customer something for their money, like an extra salad. The food quality was good. Their ribs were good, but not the best I have ever had. I have had better ribs at chain restaurants. 1/3 my ribs were fatty. My wife got the short end of the stick. 1/2 of her order of ribs were fatty. I just drowned the meat in their sauce and I was fine. Really, I could just drink the sauce from the bottle and be happy. The sauce made the dish worth coming down for. The soft drinks tasted watery. That's probably because they took around 25 minutes to give us our drink order. Don't order the root beer, it's an off brand "Shasta"-esque medicine style flavor. Stick with their coke. Better yet, just order a beer. Other minor things weren't delivered when requested, like an extra knife and a napkin. They'd say "OK I'll get it" and then forget I said it. I had to get up from the table, walk over to the kitchen, and request it. Other tables didn't seem to have the forgetful service that I had. To their credit, their entire staff seemed to consist of 3 servers serving a room full of guests. The most disappointing part of my experience was not being offered their hot and spicy version of the sauce with my meal. I could buy it in a bottle, in their restaurant, and take it home. So why can't I have that on my ribs in the restaurant? Overall, a nice experience. I just wish their service was better for the mandatory tip I was made to give them. I also wish I didn't leave feeling like I was ignored. On the plus side, I bought 2 bottles of their BBQ sauce. I will be in sauce heaven when I grill with it. read more

I love this tiny dive/sports bar and restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Great pesto and minestrone soup. It gets crammed on game days, so get there early if you just want to grab a bite. The Waterloo Club has amazing steaks,chicken,and ribs.They also have the best pesto in nor-cal,strong drinks,and basically i have never had anything that i didn't like! I had the Chicken and Rib combo and the ribs were well prepared, but the chicken was a bit overcooked. The portions were gigantic so my wife and I split the plate. We were sent home with a bottle of BBQ sauce. Service was delightful, they were most attentive and right on top of things without being intrusive. Many have commented on the pesto, and it's good. The food is outstanding. The service is another story. We went there for dinner on a Friday night with a small group and we were having a lovely time. Towards the end of the dinner, the busgirl came to our table every 5-7 minutes asking if we need anything. It became quite uncomfortable. Shortly after the bill was settled, the Supervising Waitress or Head Waitress came to our table and asked us to leave as there is a long waiting list and if we wished to continue visiting, there are tables outside. The entire dinner last no more than maybe 1.5 hours. As a frequent patron, I was very disappointed to know the Management does not appreciate their patrons enjoying an evening at their establishment but rather focusing on "get them in, get them out" philosophy. I recently had dinner at the Waterloo after a long hiatus. The last time I ate there my steak was tough. This time didn't disappoint in that both my husband and I had the same problem. His had so much grizzle, he couldn't cut it and we took it home for our dogs who also had a difficult time chewing it! At $32 dollars each, it was a pretty expensive dog treat. One Sunday afternoon my friend was delighted to find they were offering a special - Polenta with Bolonese Sauce. He talks about it to this day! We had wanted to go back to Waterloo club for years as it had been one of our favorites throughout the years. It had been about 5 years sence we had been there and were so looking forward to it. Service was good we were the first to be served as we had reservations for 5:00. It was my grandfathers 85th birthday. Well when we got our food it had not been WARMED up enough I guess, Well no one at our table said anything to each other about warm not hot ribs until the way home. We as a family don't complain we just don't go back!! I decide to call and let them know and was rushed off the phone with a promise of a gift card for another dinner??? Well we never got it and I now know that they do not care about customers! I will never go to the Waterloo club again and will advise anyone who is thinking about getting a good meal there not to also!!! My husband and I have been coming here for years and we have always enjoyed the food...However, that being said, the service has declined dramatically! I took my kids here last week after my sons soccer game. The waitress seamed to be completely put out by us :( I'm sorry that this is your job! Find something where you can sit at a desk and don't need to rely on your personality for tips...I ordered the soup and salad. Same thing I always order. This time, no croutons. I was told that they only make the croutons for the dinner salads. REALLY! Been coming here since 1992 and this was the first time I heard that one? Waitress was too busy on the back patio waiting on the only other table besides ours. They had a big crowed. Hope they left her a big tip. I have a tip for her and the hostess as well...Find another line of work. Wont be patronizing this place for awhile. read more
