Stopped in for dinner as always when I'm visiting my home state or RI. We had a very good waiter named John who took excellent care of us while we had our meals. I had the pork chop. It was cooked perfectly. It had a delicious chutney over top. All served over a delicious bed of macaroni and cheese along with a nicely seasoned rainbow shard. I ate every bite. My wife had the salmon over a bed of ancient grains accompanied by baby spinach. She said it was very well cooked too. The meal was paired with a nice Malbec. John our waiter was probably the most attentive server we've had at our table. No joke! This place always knocks it out of the park. Incredible food served on top of a gorgeous view of the water front. The brunch menu is served quite late into the day and is a bit lackluster in terms of "lunch" options (you'll see mostly egg dishes) but the quality of the food definitely compensates. Truly one of the best burgers and tastiest side of fries I've ever had. Extremely juicy for a well done burger, which is always an A+ in my book. We had to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon as this place is top rated and fills up quickly. It's also pretty crowded inside, with tables close together, but there is comfortable/quiet seating on designated sofas outside. I would opt to sit outside as the inside was pretty loud. The food is stellar-- but I take off one star for a limited menu, ambience, and host behavior. The host (who I assume was the manager) was not very welcoming and was clearly stressed out by the commotion in the restaurant. It was my first time visiting Waterman, and I sat at the bar where Dana provided excellent service. Everything was fantastic--from the expertly made Old Fashioned to the warm, fresh bread, the flavorful calamari, and the perfectly cooked prime rib. Rebecca, our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and went out of her way to ensure our dining experience was great. We had the crab cakes with street corn for an app which was amazing! For dinner, I had the scallops special with butternut risotto and my husband had the tuna and again both were amazing, so tasty! To end our great experience, Rebecca offered us desert because we were celebrating and the sticky toffee pudding cake was warm and the toffee addition was perfection. Cute spot with great rustic vibe and a nice outdoor area on the water (though it's industrial, I still liked it). The Korean Fried Chicken Wings were out of this world good. Drinks were also fantastic. The only thing that was really terrible was the lamb wraps appetizer. Lamb was overdone, lettuce wasn't strong enough to hold, and the avocado on the plate was frozen. We had a prefix menu of options which made things go smoothly. We had the loft (2nd floor) area to just us; they gave us 2 waitstaff to just us. They made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great with only a couple of hiccups (i asked for no apples on my salad since im allergic but they mixed it up; they brought a new salad in couple minutes); understandable with a big group. The food was 10/10 and service was attentive without being overbearing. We started the night with some cocktails and apps, Just Beet It stood out as we have many gin fans in our group. Calamari had a generous amount of peppers and tomatoes fried in the mix which provided delightful pops of flavor against the tender calamari. Consensus on the wings was that they were "mind-boggling good" - crispy on the outside and juicy inside, very flavorful. One of our compatriots had the split pea soup which he thoroughly enjoyed. Onto the main event; the scallops were incredible. Definitely the star of the show. Served over a seasonal sweet pea risotto with a walnut pesto, the textures and flavors melded perfectly. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and the polenta cake it sat atop was a surprisingly delightful moment. The compote was a tad sweet for our tastes, but the other elements in the dish more than made up for it. The ricotta tortelloni was a perfect spring pasta with lemon and fresh veggies. It was a little noisy inside, would love to sit on the water in our next visit. Overall, it was a great experience and would go again for an elevated evening out. read more

Firstly, I want to point out what an excellent server Taylor is. I see her rising up through the company is she really is phenomenal. The food was excellent as always. I could eat the hanger steak every week there as it's cooked to perfection. Everybody loved their dishes. Where you lost a star 1. Bartender ruined two drinks- a Cosmo & a Lemondrop by making them both sour. In fact, Taylor had to walk her how to follow the recipe. 2. My friend requested a water view on the deck through the reservation system. What we got was the not so great loft facing a coated glass door. It was a quite popular place on the weekend. The place offers both indoor and outdoor dining. For a nice night, it is great to sit outside with the view of Seekonk river. We came as a big party so we ended sitting on the second floor. We ordered Waterman salad with grilled hanger steak (excellent, steak was cooked perfectly), Karen Elizabeth calamari (excellent), Korean fried chicken wings (good, a little too salty), scallops (good), cornish games hen (Good but a little overcooked), crab chitarra (excellent), and pan seared cod (excellent). A beautiful place for an intimate meal (reservations strongly suggested) . Original recipes with locally sourced ingredients ( I LOVE this!!). The crab cakes are very good without a strong crab taste. The hummus plate is a good portion and is very shareable. Also love the rustic decor. Right on the river with water views from the back dining room. There is also an outside patio in the summer. The bar and high tops are open for walkins. I'd recommend making a reservation. Fantastic experience last night for our first time. Food and Drinks top notch, the ambience was pleasant and cozy, and parking was easy with a lot right there. However our waiter Paul is what brought on the 5-star experience we had. His insightful suggestions, attention to detail, and dedication to the customer was beyond amazing. The manager also came around frequently topping off waters and checking in on quality. We had a terrific birthday dinner at The Waterman Grille. We started with the burrata, as well as the mussels....delicious broth, I wanted to slurp it up! The hanger steak was great but the star of the show was the pea risotto we added scallops....WOWZA! Amazing. We topped it off with a cream brûlée....could have licked the dish! Second time coming to waterman grille, the first time being about a year ago. The first time we went it was amazing, I got the scallops and my gf got the steak. The scallops and steak were perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was honestly one of the best restaurant meals I had ever eaten. Came here again, and maybe we picked the wrong dishes but it wasn't as impressive. The crab pasta she got was overly sour from lemon juice that they added. The amount of crab was also very small for a $30 dish. The Cornish hen I got was a very generous portion (half of a hen split into 4 pieces, and the hen + stuffing + cranberry sauce was a good Thanksgiving homage. I personally would've gotten the scallops again after eating it, but there was nothing particularly wrong with it. Service was amazing. They offered bread and butter before the appetizers came out and offered a refill when they saw we finished it. Also overheard them helping out another table with the heating temperature. We sat in the heated outdoor patio, last time it was opened but it was covered with a plastic cover. Highly recommend the patio seat, it's a cool view of the river and we saw people rowing. Tldr: great special occasion restaurant, scallops 10/10, steak 9.5/10, Cornish hen 8/10, crab pasta 7/10. Patio seats are great! read more

I've been coming to Waterman Grille for years and it always delivers when you want a dinner for a special occasion or a high quality date. The restaurant is much larger than it looks with a ground floor that's split between and bar/lounge area, inside dining room and extensive outdoor porch seating. I know there are people in my industry that have reserved rooms here for business meals and have baby showers, it's a very flexible space for a variety of events. On this particular occasion, my partner and I visited for her birthday. We were in the main dining area that was simultaneously spacious and cozy. There's plenty of warm lighting to create a very intimate atmosphere. The food itself is always a hit. This time we went for a appetizer of lamb on a bed of couscous and tangy, mint sauce. It was delicious and one of the best apps we've had there. My entree was the scallops with apple sauerkraut and sweet potato purée. The scallops were delicious, but there was way too much sauerkraut and the dish was a little too oily. The drinks are also high quality, there's an extensive wine and beer list, plenty of exciting cocktails to choose from and many aptertifs and digestifs as well. Service is also very good, our server was knowledgeable and very attentive. Can't say enough good things about Waterman Grille. The food is definitely not what you would put together at home. Their succotash is made with Lupini beans and Lima beans and a little corn. Lots of things are placed or polenta cake.but... They will make anything the way you want it. Personally I had my Filet with fingerling potatoes and string beans. I'm very basic. But my friends totally enjoyed their meals of braised lamb or hanger steak and kale. Lovely ambiance inside and out and, and Andrea was ever so accommodating. All in all "your going to pay for what you get". I'll be honest. I forget about Waterman Grille sometimes since it's a bit tucked away but I recently rediscovered this local gem and I'm so glad that I did. This cozy riverfront restaurant knows how to do comfort food. I've made three separate visits this past winter and have been equally impressed each time. While everything I've had has been delicious, I have to shout out two entrees that were particularly great. The standout on their current menu has to be the crab pasta. I'm a sucker for squid ink and there was no shortage of delicious lump crab meat throughout this tasty dish. The Calabrian chili oil gave the dish a much needed kick. A perfect pasta dish! The scallops were equally delicious. I hesitate to order scallops at a restaurant because too often they come out under-seared. These were perfectly browned. With sunchoke puree, roasted parsnips, and broccoli rabe, this dish was perfect for a cold winter night. Really nice ambiance. It's a place you can go for a relaxed dinner, but also a celebration for something special. My husband and I thought the menu items had a good mix of classic American fare like steak and pork chops and a mix of more inventive items like crab pasta and okonomiyaki. However, we personally found the food a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad, or poorly cooked. It just wasn't spectacular. The pork belly was giving hotel wedding dish vibes. It was an impressive slab of pork belly, but not cooked in a way that truly elevated that cut. It didn't have any (or enough) caramelization and crust on the fatty layer to provide that heavenly textural contrast. It also had very little flavor. It was sitting on a bed of equally bland squash. The okonomiyaki was also just okay. It was a little glue-y. The crab pasta was actually quite good and our favorite dish of the night. The home made squid ink pasta was perfectly al dente.
