Food -- the salmon bruschetta as an appetizer was unremarkable but $16 for three rather small pieces of bruschetta seemed quite high. Our entrees were very well prepared and very good -- halibut for me and the stuffed squash for my wife. Service -- frustrating at best. We ordered happy hour zinfandel and a happy hour beer (porter). Server came back after we had started consuming the drinks and said she needed to replace the zinfandel my wife received since it was the high end zinfandel and not the happy hour zinfandel. She said the manager told her to do it and take the first glass back. We gave her a hard time about that and ended up having both glasses -- just weird and very anti-customer response. And then it took a very long time to get our entrees even though there were only two groups seated in the restaurant when we ate. Ambience -- very nice settings, but our table had 15-20 fruit flies and several regular flies harassing us throughout our meal -- particularly trying to fly into the wine glass. We mentioned it to the server and asked her to let the manager know. We heard nothing back from the server or the manager. So for us this is not a place we would revisit even though the food was good. It was just not an enjoyable place for us. read more

Very disappointing. I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews before booking for our anniversary dinner. The service was excellent the food was poor at best. I ordered the Caesar salad and it tasted just like it was poured from a bag at the grocery store. The waitress was very kind and offered to take it off the bill. Really nice feel to the place as soon as you walk in. Food was exceptional. I had the pork tenderloin which I was not totally looking forward to. Really wanted a steak, but they didn't offer that. WOW! That tenderloin came wrapped in grape leaves with some sort of seasoning I can't begin to describe, except to say perfection. That is hands down the best piece of pork I have ever eaten by a lot. My wife had a vegetarian dish and said it was really good as well. The service was good not great. No fault of the wait staff. Considering there were only two of them running all the tables, they did amazing. What made the speed of the service ok, was at least she was a pro. My bf loved the meatloaf and his Old Fashioned. My $38 halibut was good, but the portions were small considering what we paid. One plus is they sat us by the window so we had a great dining view, and our server was friendly and attentive. My sister has recommended this restaurant in Leavenworth over any other restaurant because of the food, however, there is more to the 'experience' than an entree (especially at premium prices). We made a reservation, we shared that we were celebrating my Sister's birthday, and then... we are seated next to the bathroom, elbow to elbow, butted up to a water station. If you are seated here, then you know. You'll also know that it's not going to work. I approached the hostess as the restaurant was dead. She acted confused as to why we wouldn't want to celebrate to the sound of flapping door to the mens room, but also explained there was zero flexibility to change tables. No wait for something better, no consult to those more qualified, no brain circuits powering. We paid $50 per head the secure this reservation and they refused to adjust the deposit. I've worked in the food service industry, and I believe in benefit of the doubt when contemplating the commitment of the employees , but this was just too complicated for the short brunette with the pronounced eyebrows. Might be time to train employees to read customer experience. What is the point of hospitality if you are not tethered to customer experience? Because food alone does ensure repeat business. I would absolutely not recommend unless you simply plan to shovel food in your mouth and pay an exorbitant tab. read more

This place just smells like good food. The moment you step in, you start feeling like you need to order food, and a lot of it! That is how good it smells. The interior is inviting. They have outdoor seating too, overlooking the beautiful mountains. The drinks were good, we ordered a few cocktails. I got berry hibiscus and it seemed like all the other ladies in the room had ordered the exact same thing. We started by ordering some oysters and some bread with pesto and mozzarella. The mignonette sauce was very tasty and the bread bites were so good, we took a picture of the ingredients to make it at home. For dinner, i got the meatloaf and hubby got the veggie dish. Although we definitely had German food planned for our stay in Leavenworth, our first stop ended up being this chef owned locally sourced farm to table restaurant. Just off the main strip of downtown, you will get a taste of the Pacific Northwest with an ever changing menu based on what is in season. I love how you can order the hama hama oysters by each so you can have as many or as little as you want allowing me to have a taste of it vs. being forced to consume an entire order since shellfish allergies prevents my husband from helping me. The soup was a Mad Hatcher Chicken mole soup with black lentils which we followed with the Oregon buffalo carpaccio, a cross between a salad and an appetizer. The entrees were a good size and perfectly executed. The grapeleaf wrapped pork tenderloin was served with a truffle potato croquette and Yakima apple relish and the PNW thyme roasted cod was perfectly cooked accompanied by a Mediterranean pearl couscous. If you are looking for a break from German food, Watershed Café is a definite winner. read more

It's call a cafe but it had a sports bar in the back (which is their front) and fine dining in the front (which was their back). They had 2000's pop music playing and football playing on the tv... Don't get me started on the prices for the food. $42 for meatloaf, mash potatoes, 5 green beans, 4 mushrooms chopped in quarters and thin gravy. I run marketing for a restaurant and I know the prices that they pay for each dish. It had to be around $5 per dish they were paying. Your price points don't make sense. Plus our dishes were cold when they came to us (but great flavor). You should really figure out what you guys are trying to sell your customers. Are you fine dining? A cafe? A new American restaurant? I'm not trying to discredit you guys. I just think this could be a good opportunity to learn! read more

Visited Watershed Cafe for dinner on a Saturday evening. We made a reservation and got a table on the patio outside but it looks like walk-ins were able to get seated as well. We started with the tuna bruschetta $10 and salmon bone broth curry soup with forbidden rice $8. The toppings on the bruschetta were good but I felt like the bread didn't seem freshly toasted and $10 for 3 small pieces was a bit expensive. The soup had good flavor and the forbidden rice was a bit chewy and made for an interesting texture. For entrees we ordered the elk meatloaf $29 and a roasted chicken entree $26. The elk meatloaf was the special for the night and was definitely the better of the two entrees. Elk is pretty lean but the meatloaf wasn't too dry and had a slightly gamey flavor to it. The white truffled mashed potatoes elevated ordinary mashed potatoes into something special. I will be attempting to recreate this at home. The chicken had nice crispy skin on the outside though I found the interior to be a bit dry despite it being composed of white and dark meat. The bread pudding was good, though I preferred the mashed potatoes myself. For dessert we ordered the strawberry ice cream sundae $10. This was 1 big scoop of ice cream with a sprinkle of coconut in a soup bowl with strawberry compote with whipped cream. I was not impressed with the presentation of this and thought that in order for this to look like a proper sundae two scoops of ice cream should have been stacked. I would revisit this place the next time I am in Leavenworth. The menu changes daily according to the waiter and no prices are available online so I listed prices to give you an idea of what to expect. read more

My husband I came here for our 2 year wedding anniversary and we had an amazing meal! We were seated promptly at a lovely window table. We brought our own wine and the servers were happy to open and pour it for us. We enjoyed salmon bruschetta for the appetizer. My husband had the meatloaf and I had the vegetarian option, my meal was fantastic! Everything tasted so good and fresh, and the portions were big for a nicer restaurant. Dessert options looked amazing but we were too full. We enjoy eating out and while the food is always important, sometimes the service becomes the star. Bree was our server and an absolute gem! Very attentive without being interruptive. We ordered all of our courses at once and she had them completed at a nice pace, giving us time to enjoy each dish. Not bad but not great. Not what I expected. I understand that things are different and I don't mean any harm to this restaurant. With that said I feel there was a few things that happened that not even COVID could excuse. Lack of communication. When arriving we were told we absolutely could not eat there without a reservation. We asked to get takeout, while we were waiting for our food they started seating others without a reservation. We were totally shocked! Then when we asked they said oh well didn't we tell you we had cancellations? No they didn't! It was frustrating because we wanted the full experience. We took our food and ate on the side of the road on a picnic table. I Guess next time we will make a reservation. However it really was unfair that hey told us there was no way we could get a table and 10 min later they were seating random people! Our food was cold, lettuce in our salad was wilted. We finally got our appetizer after 35 minutes waiting, then it was another 30 minutes for our entrees to come out. The food was tasty but could have been better; after all that time the plates still seemed like they were rushed out of the kitchen. It's a good thing we ordered a bottle of wine because the other guests in the dining room couldn't get a refill on their cocktails either. Our server was apologetic but also seemed to be avoiding the dining room in order to not face scrutiny from the many tables who were having the same experience as us. I ordered the Coho Salmon with melted leeks over jasmine rice & green beans. Bill ordered Meatloaf over garlic mashed potatoes & green beans. Both entrees were large portions & delicious. We passed on dessert, as Carole had fresh baked apple crisp waiting for us in oven @ B& B. We look forward to our next visit to Leavenworth & Watershed. Only problem we encountered... they open @ 5. We had arrived 15 min early for our 5pm reservation & 1st guests at the door. They had the day's menu posted on window by front door. The front door was locked & we could see waitstaff setting up. At 5pm we saw people being seated & the door was still locked. There were 4 couples standing with us by then. We knocked on door & no one opened it. Finally people were seated by window & pointed to go down the side of building. Apparently you enter thru the bar close to back of building. There wasn't a podium setup back there when we had walked across the street. We were then in a long line waiting for people without reservation to be seated. When we got to podium a young woman & 2 young men were there. They said they would have to check & see if our table was available. I told them we had stood @ front door for 20 minutes & it had no sign to use another entrance. No one made an apology about our wait or lack of sign in door. We didn't want a conflict to effect our anniversary dinner so dropped it since they didn't think they needed to post anything on front door. read more

I ate the best meal of my entire life here. We were staying at a small Air BnB in Leavenworth for a long weekend so we could go morel hunting in the mountains. We were completely skunked for the first two days. Zero morels. Our hopes dashed and doing the walk of shame back to our rooms with no treasure completely defeated. Our Air BnB host told us about this place. We come here and I honestly remember loving the appetizers we shared they were seasonal and I can't remember what they were because once my main dish came that was Pho with Halibut Cheek, I had complete tunnel vision. It was perfection. I was so good I was deliberately slowing myself down so I didn't look like a heathen. Luckily my husband doesn't eat fish so I didn't have to share. Very impressed. Wow! This place is such a good place if you want to go out for something fancy. We stopped by and they were full for the next few hours but gave us a call not long after to let us know they had worked us in. Once we were there, the atmosphere was really cool with nice table design and good lighting though not good for pictures (hence the lack of pictures). We got a good vegetarian sweet potato, pesto and greens combo and it turned out to be extremely savory with good textures. The farm to table gives the food a taste you are not going to get many other places The price is around $30-$50 per meal so be prepared if you decide to go, but it is a great spot to go out on a date or celebration. Jenny, our server took excellent care of our table, but the complete staff was quick to fill our water glasses and attend to our needs. I had the meatloaf $30 that was a generous slice served on a bead of mashed potatoes with a large collection of seared mushrooms and served with a wonderful brown sauce. My wife had the Cod dinner, $34 with a large slice of fish served with fresh corn and a creamy pesto sauce. This restaurant knows how to cook fish as the cod was very moist and flakey. It's plated beautifully and the taste was amazing. The service was slightly lacking. Our waitress started out seemingly awkward and then remained somewhat stand off-ish until the end of our dining experience. It was made more off putting by the fact that she seemed perfectly friendly towards the table next to ours. Maybe she was just having a rough day. Really good food, farm to table type restaurant. Monday nights are local nights which means you'll save $$$, but they will not take reservations so arrive early or be prepared to wait. They quoted an hour wait at 6:30pm. When we put our name down they took our phone number saying they'd call - I am guessing they wrote the wrong number down (it happens) so we ended up waiting more than the quoted hour then called from a neighboring bar (they don't let you wait at their bar so you gotta wait outside or go to another establishment). Not the greatest start, but I'll chalk it up to an imperfect host who should be confirming customer details. In the end we got in and enjoyed the meal. read more

Been coming here each year for the lighting festival. This year(Dec 9, 2019), the hostess was rude and dismissive. She told us to go to a different restaurant because we showed up 20 minutes early for our reservation. When we asked if we could just wait at the bar she said "unfortunately no because the bar is full" but in reality it wasn't. They just opened and she let the group before us go to the bar and wait. Hardly anyone was inside the restaurant and we noticed that she kept on turning customers away. No complaints about the quality of the food or drinks whatsoever, management just needs to fix the issues up at the front. read more
