Nice location in Maitland. You order at a window inside. It's very casual. I felt that the menu is overpriced. The seating is like at fast food, with some mural art on a wall, plain otherwise. They brought out my food, but they usually text to alert you. I ordered to go the sushi burrito. It was okay, good, not a lot of flavor. Be careful, eating the lettuce garnish, that you don't eat the small clump of potent wasabi. Watch out for it. This place was amazingggg!!! So innovative, and delicious. I started off with the crab Rangoon fritters which were full of crab and crunchy! The sweet Thai chili was a perfect dipping! I give it a 10/10! Following that I also ordered the spicy tuna hotdog and wowwwww!!! That was the star of the show! It had cucumber, avocado, spicy tuna, rice, and a bunch of other yummy ingredients. It was so big I could only eat half! The cashier was super sweet and the food was relatively out quick. When I heard they opened a second location in Maitland I knew I needed to go try them out. This place has been on my "to-eat" list for so long and I'm very happy I got to try the sushi burger or specifically the "SOFLOFOOODIE Burger" which has large slices of salmon covered in krab salad and seaweed salad in between toe ginormous rice "buns" coated in flamin hot Cheetos. Sounds like a dream and it sure looked like one. The salmon was fresh and the other ingredients complemented each bite. I was hoping for more heat from the flamin hot Cheeto rice buns but I couldn't taste much of those delicious chips unfortunately. Otherwise this would've been a solid sushi burger. The service at this location is more fast casual where you order at the register, pay, and they'll bring it to you when it's ready. They're fairly quick and the presentation of the food is amazing as you can tell from the picture. This particular location is nestled within a building with a few other shops inside. The seating area is not the biggest but they do have outside seating. Overall, I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the menu items and the sushi burger was worth the try, but for $26 I think I would try something else on their menu next time I'm there. read more

This location just opened, and I'm so happy for it! This location is much closer than mount Dora! They have a lot of the same menu, but it is more limited. My friend and I got the sushi nachos, sushi fries, salmon tacos and tuna burrito. The sushi nachos are definitely worth trying! They're not overly spicy, and have a wonderful flavor! A crowd pleaser! On my last two visits - I tried the OG Hotdog with the flaming hot Cheeto breading, the Sushi Tacos, and the Tuna Truff Nachos. All of them are VERY good. I think the tacos are just enough food (plus an appetizer) and averages about 1.5 sushi rolls. The hotdog is pretty massive - about 2 sushi rolls for the serving. I got the Slammin' Salmon Burrito at Wave Sushi, and it was very refreshing! The fish and vegetables were fresh and the service was accommodating and nice. The only thing was that I wasn't full afterwards and opted not to get additional items since the burrito itself was already pretty expensive. I get that you're paying extra for interesting sushi versions of other foods, but expect to spend more if you want to leave on a full stomach. Otherwise, the food quality is great! read more

Alright buckle up this is a real af review haha I am from Hawaii born and raised and so i have some decent standards when it comes to sushi. I got the Hot roll and Bushido roll. I will say the portions are generous. the hot roll was cut into massive pieces and rice falls apart, not rolled tight. The spicy ahi on top and inside both is macerated with what looks like only Sriracha. No kewpie insight other than the drizzle on top.. weird. I would not consider this traditional spicy ahi. Def lack luster if uve had the real thing. The bushido roll, half of the roll had no ahi. the fish is bland and the pankos tough and cuts ur mouth up. Tempura would be better. Eel sauce was thin. Over all I would say Okay for the price! My guess if they focus their attention on their "viral" dishes instead. Service was late even on a pre scheduled order. Team seemed overwhelmed and irritated even with few customers. Was planning on doing a review for my show but I think this team still needs a little work and I don't like to harp on newer businesses. I've been following wave sushi for years, but have never been to Mt. Dora to try them. I'm so happy they opened a place in Maitland! It's located in a building that I suppose is like a food hall, but each vendors has its own enclosed space (not open like other food halls I've visited). You walk into a main door and then enter from the inside of the building. My party grabbed menus, walked to a table (self seating) and decided what to order. You do walk up to the counter to order, though someone did come back to the tables to check in on us and ask if we had any questions about the menu. My favorite dish was the wave nachos. It's a plate of fresh, crispy fried wonton chips with a big pile of delicious sushi in the middle. The wonton chips and sushi combo were fantastic. I ordered the pizza, which can be fried or not fried. I opted for not fried. It is a little awkward to eat because of its size and shape. It was great. We ordered a few standard rolls (spider and MD) and they were really good. The sushi hotdog and sushi burrito were good, but it was messy and difficult to eat. I felt like those fried specialty shapes are a little too oily. Though I liked the flavors in the burrito, the ratio of rice to stuff inside of a little off. It was delicious--we loved it all-but there's something perfect about a regular sushi roll's rice to ingredient ratio and size for chewing that we all take for granted. We did see an order of a sushi hamburger and it is absurdly huge. Many of their fun-shaped dishes are huge and meant to be shared. So bring a friend or 3 and enjoy this unique spot for sushi! read more

I can't say enough good things about Wave. My husband and I came in for a date night a few weeks ago. I have been following their social media for years now and have always wanted to try it. Mt. Dora is a bit of a drive for us, so I was excited to see a new location pop up right next to us! My husband got the sushi burrito and I got the sushi pizza. We also got the crab fritter appetizer to split. Everything was amazing. I was the most impressed by their customer service. The staff realized they made a small error with the appetizer and they ended up replacing it, giving us a free gift card for the price of the app. and the chef came out to apologize. We told them it wasn't a huge deal, but they insisted on fixing it because they are so committed to the quality of their food. The pacific sushi burrito was a good amount of food but had really no flavor if I didn't dip it in any sauces. My visit may be an anomaly, but my boyfriend and I went for dinner and there was a line of people waiting in front of us to order which took about 15 minutes, then when I was next to order - two to-go pickups cut in front of me and the worker happily gave them their meals before attending to me. I was the last in line, with no one behind me. I placed my order and my boyfriend went to Pizza Bruno to grab his meal, and I changed my order after placing to to-go so I could sit with him over there. No joke, it took 20 minutes for me to get my order, and even several people before me hadn't gotten their meals. I found the prices very expensive, but worth a one-time visit for the gimmick of the shape of the sushi. The quality was average, there was nothing special about the taste. There are not many tables for seating, so if the dining room is fun you'll be waiting for a seat. I visited for lunch during my workday. I ordered the Crab Ragoons recommended by the cashier, the Horatio Roll, and a drink for a total of $33. Not exactly workday lunchtime pricing. I stopped by the drink machine. The six Coke product choices are underwhelming. Would it be too much to offer a green or black tea? Also, the individual Kikoman packets are a no for me dawg. The interior is small but laid out well. Good music is playing and I left with a couple of Shazams to listen to on the way back to work The uncomfortable metal chairs need to be banned from any restaurant. The outside seating area looks nice with plush synthetic grass and tables with umbrellas. When my food arrived I could better understand the menu pricing. The portions are massive! I could've easily split my meal with another person. The plastic container provided for the soy sauce is far too small to comfortably dip the XL rolls. The crab rangoons and Horatio roll were good. Nothing mind-blowing or hype-worthy. I would be interested in trying one of the sushi hamburgers on another visit. Possibly after it cools down and I can sit outside. I wish there was a cost-effective two-roll combo with a salad available for the lunchtime crowd. read more

Arrived late Friday night. Inside is small but very cute. I was really hoping to like this place but I think I need to try something else because I wasn't impressed. The krab Rangoon balls were just ok. Too cheesy and missing the best parts of krab Rangoon which is the cream cheese flavor combined with the imitation krab. The sushi burrito was just a miss for me. Maybe it's a sensory thing but I did not enjoy the gigantic pieces of fish. The fish was tough which made biting into the burrito challenging . I was so happy because finally they open it in orlando, used to have to drive 1hr to Mount Dora. The shop is clean and nice decoration. It's located in a food court that's also including Foxtail coffee and a Pizza shop. We ordered soft shell crab rice burger (with crispy rice), poke sushi taco, and rainbow roll. I would say that only the taco was delicious to us. The roll was alright, and I don't think that I would ever order the burger again; couldn't taste any of the crab, rice crispy rice didn't drained well so there was a lot of oil, and not enough crispy. The first bite (the burger), it confused me, second bite, i hate it. However, I do appreciate the work because our food was pretty. Staff were friendly and gentle. They did a great job on explaining the menu. I would love to come back for only the tacos, it's worth my 25' drive compare to 1hr drive to the other location. However, I still recommend you guys to try the one at Mount Dora because I think there is more things to try, and food actually tastes better over there, too. One more thing before I end this review, the food court needs an entrance sign at the entrance since half of visitors on that day were so confused about how to get in. read more

You're going to spend $20+ no matter what you do here. The sushi is really overpriced, but at least the quality is good. However, I was impressed with the sushi taco and the sushi tots. I myself had the imitation crab burger, which wasn't anything to write home about and tasted like a basic California Roll with fried rice buns - but they don't even include avocado for $18+ (really?). I would recommend the tuna or salmon to someone dining in. These prices need to come down for me to return in all honesty. There are some good sushi spots nearby that are a fraction of the price. You can get an entire bowl of top quality of chirashi with top cuts of fish nearby for the same price. You are paying for the social media trend here and for the influencer clout. I popped into Wave Sushi recently. The food is fresh and tasty, and they serve plenty of creative dishes (even if many feel like just a remix of the same ingredients). The crab rangoons try hard to impress, but they don't quite match the presentation I found at Mt. Dora's location. Fair warning: the price tag here is steep. Despite the place often being full, the employees are polite, helpful and the service is faster than the other location. Despite a casual vibe, the overall experience leans to luxury (which makes sense in upscale Maitland) and cuts into how often I'd go. If you're planning a one-off splurge and don't mind spending, go for the crab rangoons and the sushi Cheeto deep-fried burrito. One more thing: the kani isn't real crab, so dishes with that are not recommended dish at this price point read more
