Had the pleasure of trying Waves second location today and it did not disappoint. I like the fast casual style - if you have been to the original location it can be busy and wait times longer. Received my tuna tacos and bushido roll within 15 minutes. I requested my bushido roll not be fried and they were able to accommodate. The restaurant was clean and I love the murals. My only quirk is maybe a different style trash can or remove the flap from it there was some spilled food on it and you have to touch it with your hands read more

I was so happy because finally they open it in orlando, used to have to drive 1hr to Mount Dora. The shop is clean and nice decoration. It's located in a food court that's also including Foxtail coffee and a Pizza shop. We ordered soft shell crab rice burger (with crispy rice), poke sushi taco, and rainbow roll. I would say that only the taco was delicious to us. The roll was alright, and I don't think that I would ever order the burger again; couldn't taste any of the crab, rice crispy rice didn't drained well so there was a lot of oil, and not enough crispy. The first bite (the burger), it confused me, second bite, i hate it. However, I do appreciate the work because our food was pretty. Staff were friendly and gentle. They did a great job on explaining the menu. I would love to come back for only the tacos, it's worth my 25' drive compare to 1hr drive to the other location. However, I still recommend you guys to try the one at Mount Dora because I think there is more things to try, and food actually tastes better over there, too. This place has a cool vibe. It's a grab and go concept - plenty of dining but no service. You would think there were serving you with the prices though. You're going to spend $20+ no matter what you do here. The sushi is really overpriced, but at least the quality is good. However, I was impressed with the sushi taco and the sushi tots. I myself had the imitation crab burger, which wasn't anything to write home about and tasted like a basic California Roll with fried rice buns - but they don't even include avocado for $18+ (really?). I would recommend the tuna or salmon to someone dining in. These prices need to come down for me to return in all honesty. There are some good sushi spots nearby that are a fraction of the price. You can get an entire bowl of top quality of chirashi with top cuts of fish nearby for the same price. You are paying for the social media trend here and for the influencer clout. I popped into Wave Sushi recently. The food is fresh and tasty, and they serve plenty of creative dishes (even if many feel like just a remix of the same ingredients). The crab rangoons try hard to impress, but they don't quite match the presentation I found at Mt. Dora's location. Fair warning: the price tag here is steep. Despite the place often being full, the employees are polite, helpful and the service is faster than the other location. Despite a casual vibe, the overall experience leans to luxury (which makes sense in upscale Maitland) and cuts into how often I'd go. If you're planning a one-off splurge and don't mind spending, go for the crab rangoons and the sushi Cheeto deep-fried burrito. One more thing: the kani isn't real crab, so dishes with that are not recommended dish at this price point read more

Not the same vibe as the OG but still a cute and busy spot. I wish the krab rangoon fritters were the same they serve at Mt Dora location but the other offerings are very good. This is a fun and unique place for really good food. I was a little surprised by the prices at first, most items were $20+, however the size of the food makes up for it. We ordered the sushi tots, sushi fries, Krab Rangoon fritters and the Susie the Foodie sushi burrito. The burrito was HUGE! The sushi tots were ok but I think the fries had more flavor. The fritters were a little on the sweet side for me but still good! Definitely recommend if you're in the mood to try something new. read more

They even have sushi "pizza" if you can imagine that...maybe next time. We also got the Krab Rangoon Fritters and they were delicious! My niece & I visited this restaurant for the first time after seeing a TikTok video about it. The video mentioned that the restaurant had fresh salmon and tuna, so we needed to see how fresh it was. The staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations about popular menu items. We ordered at the cashier first and then sat ourselves; the food arrived quickly (within 5 minutes at most), and everything was fresh and delicious. The salmon was very fresh and perfectly portioned, almost like sashimi-grade fish. I want to note that there was a bit more salmon than rice in the taco, but it wasn't a major issue. The sushi had the perfect amount of sushi rice to filling ratio, and the fried shrimp was tasty and not greasy. The highlight of the meal was the Krab Rangoon Fritters. The filling had great flavor, and the outside was perfectly fried without feeling heavy or greasy. I tried one as soon as it was served, and it was crunchy and delicious. The fritter remained crispy and not soggy after 10 minutes and eating other items. The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant was clean inside and out. Tried wave yesterday, ordered a variety of items, the sushi donuts, the salmon burritos, and the salmon taco. I was looking forward to trying this place, especially after seeing their social media, and the reels they post which show the fresh salmon cut into cubed pieces with NO brown, chewy parts that are right below the skin of the salmon. In reality however, you get pieces of salmon with the brown chewy parts that are right beneath the skin still attached all throughout the items. It's as if whatever remained from the fish that isn't wanted, was used inside those items. It was absolutely disgusting, extremely chewy, extremely fishy, we literally had to throw everything out, they were too chewy to eat. I was so so upset and disappointed. They advertised the nice pieces of salmon being cut up nicely with no brown or chewy parts still attached and yet in reality I guess that's not what you get off camera. read more

Never again will an instagram influencer guide me to a restaurant. This place was too excessive for my taste and the spectacle seemed to take away from the product. When I got there it was quite busy and seating was limited. My sushi "burrito"was DRIPPING hot with fry oil and it affected taste of the item which was 1 part fish and 5 parts rice. 22$ Wife had a roll which was essentially a tempura roll with K rab on top.....14$ a bit underwhelming. The restaurant was colorful and the staff friendly but they could dial back the excess and focus more on enhancing the product for my tastes. To each is own but I feel like more ppl were spending time around me taking pictures of the food than eating it. I saw one woman hilariously struggling to eat a slice of sushi pizza and it was a real face palm moment for someone that truly appreciates authentic sushi. Went to the new Wave Asian bistro and sushi bar in Maitland, a sister of the location in Mount Dora. I haven't eaten at the location in Mount Dora but have heard great things about it. So we decided to give it a try last night we ordered The crab rangoon fritters, the nami burrito, the poke Taco and the truff sushi nachos to go. Their online app told us it would be 45 minutes. Less than 20 minutes later we were notified the food was ready which would be nice if I lived next door but I'm about 15 minutes away. So for my timing that meant that my food sat there for 35 minutes before I could pick it up, expecting on a Friday night for it to take the full 45 minutes and then a 15-minute drive home means that it's 50 minutes before my food is even in my mouth at home where timing that could be better, especially with raw fish. In my case, I did leave the house a little early and was able to pick it up at about 30 minutes and I was smart enough to bring an iced cooler to try and keep the food fresh. But still expectations are a 45-minute ready time not 20 minutes. So I got my food home. I had to heat up my fritters as expected with being almost 30 minutes out of the fryer at this point. All of the food was pretty tasteless. I was not impressed with the sauces or the sushi. Everything just tasted like fry and not much flavor otherwise. Would like to try their sushi rolls next time and not any of the fried stuff. I'll give him one more go before I write them off. read more

While the menu is in fact interesting & unique, the quality of the food is just so-so especially for the price. Two entrees & one side without drinks was over $60! When your predominant ingredient is rice & you are a fast casual restaurant that's a little wild! I wouldn't even mind the price if the food was top notch, but it was honestly bland. We paid extra for spicy entrees, but they both severely lacked flavor overall. We tried to doctor it up with some eel sauce (which was an extra $2) but the fact that it was the only identifiable flavor said all we needed to know! On the bright side, the presentation was nice, the food came out fast & the seafood tasted fresh. Aside from the food, the service was good, the establishment was clean & the staff were friendly. The parking was a little limited & due to the shared space with other establishments, it was very noisy. My husband and I have been wanting to visit here for years, and it was so worth it! At Sophia's suggestion, we ordered the krab rangoon fritters, poke hotdog and nami burrito. For drinks, we ordered the Jasmine Rice IPA and Night Swim sake. Service was quick, and everything we tried was incredible! There is SO much food that we were only able to get through half the fritters (order comes with four) and most of the poke hot dog. The fritters were perfectly fried and a fantastic blend of savory rangoon flavor with a hint of sweet from the corn. I've never used a knife for sushi before, but ended up cutting the poke hotdog into bite-sized pieces. The tuna and salmon were buttery, and the soft and savory filling with the crunch of the tempura was absolute heaven. Hopefully we'll be hungry in a few hours for the nami burrito! If you're not an IPA fan but are interested in trying one, the Jasmine Rice IPA is a great introduction. The fruit flavors are surprisingly mellow for an IPA, but complement the food nicely.
