I got my food to go, half way thru my Classic burger was just a bunch of salt or something. I did not finish the hamburger, it was not edible!! I visited this cute lil burger joint today, for the first time. The inside was giving nostalgic old school diner from "way back when". It wasn't busy when I came by. I placed my order and took my food to go after about 15 minutes. My order: ghost pepper burger, spicy cheese curds (think: mozzarella sticks) Ghost pepper burge-- had to eat this baby with two hands!! Had a generous amount of ghost peppers. The burger patty was well cooked and did tladt flavor. Came on a brioche bun(if I remember correctly). I highly recommend for my fellow spicy food lovers. I would most definitely order again! I've had Wayback from other locations with mixed results, so I felt it would be good to try this location to see where it fell on the spectrum. Their menu is 100% halal, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. I didn't order much, and felt I should try the Bourbon Bacon Burger because it had a bit of everything I was looking for. It was also ironically happy hour, which was pretty cool in that you get free fries and a soda with your burger. The fries were typical fries which isn't a bad thing. As for the burger, it was very tasty. All of the items complemented each other well. The meat was cooked well, and the bun was the perfect type that made the burger easy to eat. There's a couple other burgers that caught my eye that I'll have to try next time. They also have other non-burger items like sandwiches and shakes that seem to be worth trying. Will have to go here again to try more stuff, but I think it's worth your while to try them out. read more

We tried Wayback one time way back at a random pit stop on our drive home from SoCal and really enjoyed it. I was surprised to find out we had one just 15 mins away from home now! What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with a good old fashioned hamburger? The interior is actually nicer than your standard fast food place. I would put it more on the fast casual level of The Habit, Shake Shack or Five Guys. You're going to pay a little more than your regular drive thru fast food, but you'll get fresher food and better service. I went with a classic burger although the cheesy burger did look delicious, but I wanted lettuce and onions on mine. I replaced the raw onion with grilled onions but there wasn't much of it on my burner. Also I didn't realize ketchup and mustard were standard and there was a lot of it making the burger super messy. Next time I'd skip on the ketchup and mustard and get one of their sauces on the side so I can add it to my liking. The Wayback Gold sauce was really good, kinda like a tangy honey mustard. We also ordered jalapeño ranch fries on the side and I really enjoyed it. It was a pretty big portion for the smaller size. It's purely just fries with ranch and nacho style jalapeños thrown on top so don't expect anything super fancy but I really liked their ranch..it reminded me of the ranch from The Habit which is my favorite. Service was really great. The cashier was super nice and kept saying hi to our son. They have a window where you can watch them cook and they smiled at my son when he stared at them cooking. The cashier even offered to refill our waters when they brought out our food. And when we were leaving they thanked us with a smile. Very refreshing to see friendly workers these days. PROS Good tater tots but I believe the deep fryer is either seed oil or corn oil so be careful when ordering if you have any high cholesterol problem. CONS -1 Patties was dry and not well season I figure they get it premade somewhere because it was really dry. -1 Whatever burger you order it will not be appealing once it has been made. Kinda look like a McDonald McDouble burger the cheap kind. -1 The bread was cheap and nasty, it's like mushy and disgusting. -1 Also I paid for the full meal with a drink and I didn't get my drink, not sure why. Service was very off putting. The signs (specials) outside and displayed on the screen inside the restaurant are not honored. The lady with the hijab / head covering changed the days, times and anything else I brought to her attention as to what the "deal" was to offer. The restaurant was empty so the food came quick. I've been to the locations in both Folsom and Yuba City and have not been disregarded as a customer at either location. This 1 def gave, "unwelcome vibes". The bottom bun of my burger was soggy although my sauce (honey mustard) was on the side. The sauce on my daughter's burger amounted to a squirt and the costs for the food (2 burgers, onion rings and 1 drink) amounted to $30.
