Waypoint 622 used to be our go-to! Very disappointed when we dined last evening. We sat indoors because we were dressed nicely and it was windy. It took some time for someone to come and greet us and take our drink order. Once the waitress took our order, another one showed up to do the same. Somewhat of a mix-up there. My wine was served in a Waterman's Tavern glass and my husband's gin and tonic was served in a plastic disposable cup! Our first course was clams on the half shell and a wedge salad to share. The wedge salad was delicious and fresh, however there was a bad clam on plate. When the manager came over, he said sorry and offered no remedy for the bad experience my husband had upon tasting that clam and immediately spitting it out. No bread was offered. The extra plates and the serving plate for the salad were never removed during the entire dinner. Water glasses were never refilled during the entire dinner. The meals, tuna and steak & shrimp, were very small for the price - more like a lunch portion. We were hungry one hour after arriving home, which is never the case after dining out. The overall service was terrible and the food very disppointing compared to the past. This is our last visit - too many other great restaurants! read more

Ohhhh boy .... I love this place for the cocktail atmosphere ..last night we tried dinner ...mistake. Four Adults , Five Children ...placed order @6:30 ....dinner arrived 8:15pm. When it did finally arrive , it was terrible. Food looked like it was sitting under heat lights for 45 mins.and tasted the same. Waitress was very pleasant ... And busboy was phenomenal. I went with 8 of my girlfriends and was so disappointed with the food. I wanted a grilled mahi-mahi but the waitress never told me the taco mahi doesn't come grilled. It came out so salty and blackened and I couldn't eat it. She had a sass about her when I told her it was too salty for me and I told her I wanted a grilled mahi-mahi, she said u can order something else but I can't take that off the menu. Ok didn't eat it $400 later came home and made myself something to eat. I will avoid that place and I have lots of friends who will go where I go. To think they couldn't accommodate me for a grilled mahi-mahi is sad. Very sad. read more

Visited this restaurant on a Friday afternoon. Staff was professional and friendly. Food was delicious. We had the tuna tartar, Thai wings and the fried chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious. Staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. They were frequency cleaning the seats, had Covid social distancing Signs, masks, etc. Great place!! read more

Hi! First review ever written in my life but felt compelled to write it. Got kicked out because my buddy asked the manager why he was being a dick? It was a very fair question, because the manager was being an actual dick. So entire party of 12 gets kicked out because of 1 guy? Very confrontational manager. All we were trying to do was get a table but the manager was making it very difficult. I will say, the one drink I had was decent. I appreciate the security guards letting us finish our drinks before giving us the boot. Very classy security indeed. Other than that, place sucks. Go to Pig N Parrot next door or to Union Landing if you own a time machine. I joke a lot but for real, the manager is really out of line dude. Not cool. Went on Saturday night for my birthday dinner with my family. We were running a bit late and they had no problems accommodating our 15 minute delay. Once we arrived we were seated immediately which was nice. We got our drinks quickly and placed our order. My tuna tartar appetizer arrived within 10 minutes of ordering which was surprising. I'm thinking that I got someone else's order but nonetheless it arrived quickly. It was fairly flavorless despite there being a number of different sauces on the plate. Then the night got a little strange. We had two kids with us under 11 so they got simple orders. One ordered fries and the other ordered a pizza w/ fries. Just after my tuna was cleared an order of fries arrived for my one daughter. The manager implied that he wanted to get them out to her since they were fresh which was appreciated with the anticipation our main dishes would be arriving soon. That wasn't the case. Tables that arrived much later than us were enjoying their entrees while we waited. We called out to one of the managers who was certainly pleasant and informed us that the pork chop entree (house specialty) takes longer to cook than other entrees. That would have been good to know when we ordered as I would have selected something less involved. We have a young puppy at home so our time out is limited. When the food finally came out (50 minutes later) my wife's plate was pretty light in terms of portions. When she ordered she was offered a plate of rice with assorted vegetables. She chose to forego the veggies and asked for more rice but there was barely any at all. The pork chop dish, the signature, was super salty - in fact it was all that I tasted in the broth. We had the chance to offer our complaints while we were there but felt that it would be a bit of a "cry wolf" scenario since we voiced concerns about the time it took on the entrees. The manager did come by and apologized for the delay and offered us free dessert which was certainly a nice gesture. Because we needed to get home we didn't take them up on the offer for free dessert but nothing else was adjusted on the bill (perhaps take off the pizza/fries or a drink?). We had such high hopes because the menu looked amazing but it just amounted to a disappointing and expensive night. read more

I was witness to the way the manager treated one of their customers. I thought it was a one off incident, until I looked at the reviews and it seems to be the same pattern. He seemed hate filled, and very aggressive. I would not return to this restaurant, nor any affiliated with it until they take care of the issue. This place had some of the worst food I've ever eaten. Maybe we just ordered wrong? If so, avoid the below choices. We ordered chips and salsa, tuna tartare, ahi tuna lettuce wraps, and two different sushi rolls. The chips were so stale and the salsa was watery. Hard to mess up chips and salsa but they somehow did it. The tuna tartare was actually decent. The lettuce wraps were terrible. The ahi tuna was not fresh at all and there was no flavor. It was served with balsamic vinegar, the kind that comes out of a salad dressing bottle, and just random veggies on the side to wrap in flat butter lettuce. Worst of all was the sushi. The rice was overcooked and terribly mushy, with no rice vinegar flavoring. I could barely taste the fish in the sushi, but what little I tasted was not fresh either. Very disappointed. Im assuming every good review on here is written by friends or family or those "out of towners" who come from a place with a population of 25 with dirt roads and all the homes are a 2 minute walk from the local church. . Here is my Waypoint 622 experience: We were running late due to traffic for a reservation we made THREE MONTHS ago for a window table. After calling ahead to let them know, we arrived 8 minutes late but they must have immediately let our table go to another group who were apparently starting their main course!?!? IN 8 MINUTES!! A bad start to the evening we got a rude and sharp middle aged waitress who seemed a little put out that she had to serve humans for a living. The food was very poor, my porkchop was the driest thing i have eaten since a friend dared me to eat a tablespoon of cinnamon. with the soggy over-cooked asparagus and carrots so undercooked they must have been cooked in a warm bath, the rest of the meal didnt help. I guess i should have known the main meal would have been bad after our starter bread tasted burnt like biting into an old ashtray and the little disks of butter would have been better used in the NHL as pucks as they were unspreadable! For desert we got a mushy mess which they call bread and butter pudding but was more like when you get home afterwork and realise you left half a bowl of cereal on the table and my cheesecake was a wedge of dry glue with lumps in it which i was tempted to take home and use to fill a pothole i keep driving into. Well, we left very disappointed by the food, awkwardly loud venue, fake little candles and poor service.... all of this framed in a ridiculously high bill which even half the price would have been too much! Waypoint 622 Restaurant has my original review ( prior to COVID & the opening of Waterman's) as one of the top 4 on their website. Unfortunately, my new review is definitely not a positive one. I chose this restaurant for my birthday, on August 8, 2022, because I considered it one of the finest in the area. We always dressed for the celebration, a sports jacket for my husband & I wore a new dress. We expected the usual beautiful tables adorned with candlelight, waiters in black shirts & well groomed, and a menu with a variety of gourmet meals. It was high-end price-wise but worth every penny. What a shock! We have had lunch in the patio area in the past, so knew that was available but we were there for a special celebration. The view was always very relaxing, but inside you could not see the water because the windows were so dirty. We were told they did not take reservations & now I understood why. We walked into a room that looked like it would after closing due to the bare tables. There were black tablecloths, no centerpiece, and no flatware or napkins on the table. We did see four upside-down water glasses, that's it. The waitress told us to pick a table---there was only one additional family seated when we arrived. I looked into the restaurant and saw a ghost town of empty tables--what happened? Our waitress told us they only cater to the bar scene outside- Music Bingo, etc. Why didn't they tell us when we called? A beautiful establishment was now another typical Jersey Shore dive. We ordered drinks & waited for menus. The menu was very limited but we thought we would give it a chance as I had read about the chef on their website. I ordered a chopped salad as my appetizer with the sirloin & scallop dinner. My husband ordered the Waypoint Wedge salad with the tuna special. Within 10 minutes a young waiter appeared with salads and dinners on hand...we didn't even start to enjoy our cocktails! The waiter looked at me as if he had no clue why we were surprised. We told our waitress to return the meals. I should have known better, we received the same meals, and they were just warmed again. The sirloin was rubbery. What they called Bearnaise sauce was a runny liquid, and the scallops were semi-raw. My husband described his tuna as "ok" and only ate part of it. The meals did have a nice presentation, but no flavor. The only part of the meal with appeal was the chopped salad and the white chocolate tartofo we shared for dessert. The waitress said it was store-bought but was worth trying. The tartofo was very tasty. At the advice of our waitress, we strolled over to the Pig & Parrot for an after-dinner drink. It was a wonderful suggestion except she failed to tell us the valet parking lot would be closed when we returned. The valet key was locked inside. The police called the manager who knew we had a 1-hour ride but would not come back to help. We had to Uber home at the cost of $78. then drive back again to pick up our car so it wouldn't be towed. The next morning we had to drive back & pick up our key. My birthday was a memorable one, we ate in what looked like Waypoint's basement with mediocre food. We even requested to speak to the chef but he never came to our table. The only reason I even gave it a 1-star rating was because my Aperol Spritz was well made & we had a sweet waitress. Obviously, we do not plan to return but wanted to warn others that may be looking for a nice place for dinner. This is not the place, it's overpriced & a big disappointment. ----very sad. read more

Was having a great time with friends then they blasted dueling pianos to the point we couldn't hear anyone speak, including the bartender by or ourselves. Asked them to turn it down a bit and they said flat no. No consideration, no apologies. "This is what we pay for, them to be loud. It's their schtick" the manager said. Unreal. Except for the view, this place offers nothing that is good. Drinks were watered down (martinis tasted alcohol free). Food was terrible-cajun shrimp over plain linguini, Mahi wrap with minimal mahi topped with some kind of pico, had a bad taste. Service also not good. Waitress dropped off oysters and after 10 minutes I went to bar to get plates and utensils, as we were tired of just staring at them. Table dirty. Asked for a side of cranberry, no ice, came with ice and was almost clear colored with carbonation (?). I had lunch here in June and all was good, not sure if the chef or management changed, but it was the biggest waste of $500 we have ever spent. I grew up here, and it has always been a fact that the places with the nicest views have the worst food. STAY AWAY. I normally would say go there for drinks just for the view, but as I and many other reviewers have mentioned, alcohol is watered down. As a former bartender in NJ, its is against the law to add water to alcohol. Not sure why the authorities haven't picked up on this one. I will never go there again. read more

This was by far THE WORST dining experience I've had in awhile. The view is fantastic but the food is literally hot garbage. Ordered the cod sandwich with fries (since it normally comes with fried chips?) and it's literally just that. A piece of once frozen cod on a bun twice the size of the piece of "fish". I asked for lettuce and tomato to put on the sandwich and was given the end slice of tomato and a piece of lettuce that looked like it came from the garbage can. The French fries were literally hollow and my waitress forgot them of course. They seemed to have been fried and then fried again to heat them up. Super disappointing "cheat day" meal. My mom order the chicken caprese sandwich and the balsamic had the consistency of old motor oil. The chicken was not grilled and most certainly premade. Again, disappointing especially since my mom is diabetic and actually needed something to eat at the time. Side note, the beer actually tastes like beer. Never going back. Go to shrimp box instead. read more

I am a local. Love to support local businesses. First time at this place. Heard it was great! Would not recommend it. Server was rude, it was written all over her face and in the tone of her voice. Manager was even ruder, if that's even possible! Told him we would never come back to this establishment, its horrible! He said"that's fine by me". Circling our table for over 2 hours never asking us if we want dessert or anything else. Ended up having to wait for our check for over 20 minutes. OK, here it is Mr. Owner I hope you're reading these posts because you need to, if you want this place to be successful. WELCOME/SEATING: NEGATIVE STARS - You NEED to hire new hosts/hostesses. They are very inexperienced/young and look like they are there to appeal to male customers only. No discrimination but if you're looking to make this place better, you need to seat and have ALL tables full at all times. Yes, it was a fourth of July night and wait for an outside table, we were told was an 1 1/2 hour wait outside and to go inside. Looking at several empty tables, we decided to have a drink at the bar and wait outside next to an empty table that was deserted for 20 minutes. Inside was no wait and it seems like they were pushing all customers to go inside but on a nice night you should seat as many as you can based on first come basis. You should take some of your staff inside to go outside if it is slow, this way you speed up the business outside and free up more tables for customers. This has all to do with the hostesses/hosts. They should be able to think quickly and be strong enough to help move tables to accommodate larger groups & split them up, etc-not these young teenage looking girls who are just standing around huddled by the welcome podium. BAR: ONE STAR - We had no problems getting drinks by the busy bar but it looks like they can't get the drinks right. First of all, get rid of the plastic nasty looking glasses that you pour wine into. They are meant to be used at a home, not an outdoor restaurant/bar. Glasses are cleaner looking and more appealing. Wine shouldn't be served in those plastic stemless cups outside when the weather is warm. Holding them in your hands warms up the wine and ruins the taste. The special drinks you have listed for $12 a pop is watered down and has no flavor. I tried the cucumber spritzer that the waitress said was a favorite and it was like drinking cucumber seltzer. I liked the cucumbers and mint better than the seltzer itself but totally not worth $12. We kept switching out the wines because they were so sweet and served in plastic stemlessware. For dessert I tried the espresso martini. The amount of alcohol was nice but it lacked sweetness which is what makes a martini good. I don't care for sweet drinks but a little sweetness would have taken some of the bitterness away from the espresso and once again, diluted with seltzer. This had more alcohol than the cucumber spritzer but still not strong enough to be labeled a martini. The bar staff really need to taste their drinks before sending them out. SERVER: 4 STARS - Luckily, we had a server who was a very young/sweet/attentive teen from Manasquan (sorry I couldn't hear her name) and accommodated our requests for dinner. The busboys were also very attentive and on the ball. The only thing she messed up was an order for wings but that was remediated and taken off the bill. Other than that, I would suggest your servers to learn from her since there are many complaints on here about the service. FOOD: 3 STARS - I ordered the Tuna poke bowl special. This could be improved a lot. The rice was very dry (wrong rice grains) when it's supposed to be flavorful and moist. It should be a short grain flavored while cooking. The tuna was not red (it looked to be marinated in a mayonnaise or guacamole). It should be marinated in a sesame oil/ponzu sauce and instead of putting a dollop of guac on top, why not put slices of avocado under the tuna. It has potential but lacks a lot of flavor. The scooby was very good but more like a broth than a dip. There was a good amount of crab meat and garlic and it wasn't as oily as someone else here had stated. The tuscan wings were our favorite dish. One of our party only likes buffalo but we turned him onto these and trust me-you should all try these wings. They are very tasty and has just the right amount of hot cherry peppers to make them spicy. We ordered the pork reserve porkchop parmigiana style and it was delicious. The pork chop was very tender and juicy-we will probably never go back to chicken. The next time I come back I'd order this with the same way the tuscan wings are made with the balsamic reduction and cherry peppers. The chicken southwestern bean salad was very good. Even though I was already full, it tasted delicious. Another person in our party ordered the mahi mahi sandwich but it lacked flavor and needed a sauce to go with it. It was dry so a wasabi or cilantro lime mayo would have kicked it up a notch. The conch chowder was very good and another favorite. All in all, the food is better than most outdoor places we go eat. Certain dishes are overpriced (lobster mac n' cheese with hardly any lobster for $29). Prices are high for entrees being it is a la carte. ATMOSPHERE: 4 stars - The view is very nice outside and the seating is comfortable with umbrellas for shade. Inside is also very nice considering we went inside the last time during the winter. We were extremely disappointed with visit to Waypoint 622 Restaurant & Patio Bar in Brielle, NJ which we purchased Food & Drinks due to interaction of restaurant bar staff and rude management. On July 7th at approximately 5:00PM until 5:45PM my family decided to go back to visit this restaurant. My father has been there for dinner before since a local to the area. We decided on some food items to share some Clams, Sushi. - the raw clams were $10 for 1/2 dozen or $20 a dozen. This is some background for credibility purposes - I'm an International Food Consultant and specialize in seafood. A past USFDA Seafood Monitor for the state of New Jersey - been part of the FDA Shellfish regulatory programs. My family has had restaurants, eaten seafood, especially raw clams for about 70 plus years. We have also gone fishing for mussels and clams harvesting. We know what good seafood is. I asked the female bartender about the size of the raw clams that were on the menu, not to make the write up too long, I explained that we are looking only for TOP necks. The bar tender looked puzzled, so my dad and I also explained these are the middle size clams. She said she will check with the kitchen and asked the female bartender next to her - she shrugged her shoulders. The bartender came back and shows with her hands the size of the clams. It was hard to tell with her fingers - looking back she probably didn't know. I said again - please make sure the clams are midsize not small clams - usually called top necks. We do not like the small clams and would prefer the larger ones or we can order something else - there are small, mid-size and then cherry stone clams in that order of sizes. Trust in what I will say that these raw clams at this restaurant were tiny and subpar - and mixed in with a little larger clams - mixed in a way that looked very deceiving so we would not say anything or complain. We also got 11 clams instead of 12 clams - one dish came out with just 5 raw clams. This is the most disappointment part of this restaurant is when I decided to send half the Raw Clams back since the wrong count and small (I wanted to be fair since in the industry) the female bartender PM Patio Bar P said, "it's not my fault it's our kitchen". About 10 minutes later the Manager brought the Raw Clams back to us and said, "you ordered these clams and will have to pay for them since you touch the clams you cannot return them". I told him that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard off. Explained to him we asked for the Mid Size Clams and this was explained a number of times to the waitress bartender. He argued with me and I said would pay for only half of my order and that these are small I know since been in the industry for years. This Waypoint Manager refused the return of 5 clams - to be clear this was a $10 return for only the Clams. He said he will make us pay for all 12 Clams. I've never have experienced anything like this in my 25 years of traveling around the world and been to hundreds and hundreds of restaurants. A bite out of a hamburger, can be sent back and taken off a check. This manager was rude, argumentative, and extremely unprofessional, and if I can say it here "A Real Jackass". He also threatens to call the police when we refused to pay the $10. The next day, On July 8th, I took my girlfriend to a different restaurant to make-up for the Manager argument. The female waitress was very kind and said yes, I know. I will come back to show you. She came back with two clams (live clams), and we then ordered two dozen, cold on ice, an excellent size, delicious, and a bonus since $15 a dozen. I would not recommend going to this restaurant due to poor food, staff skills and poor management, the scenery is just not worth it. I am not "out to get" anyone. I just want to be fairly represented so that others may benefit from my experience. read more

Reading the other reviews, it seems like there's a lot of mean, vindictive people at the Jersey Shore, who, emboldened by their anonymity, like to slam a business on Yelp. I think people deserve to make a living, so, I try to accentuate the positive. We pulled up to their boat dock on my brother-in-law's fishing boat for lunch, and sat outside on the patio. I had the large beef burger topped with braised short rib and onion rings on the side. The juicy burger was cooked medium-rare exactly as requested, and served on a fresh brioche bun. The onion rings were just a tad soggy, but still very tasty. BIL had the conch chowder, which he said was excellent, as well as a burger. The women had salads and grilled cheese paninis. They have a good selection of tap and bottled beers. We had no complaints about the food or the attentive service. The meal was a little pricey. The bill for lunch for five came to $120 plus tip, but that included a couple of beers. This place is a much better option than the awful Water's Edge restaurant in Bayville that we used to go to on our boat outings. read more

Went to the bar for drinks to enjoy the ambiance on a late Sunday afternoon. Was hoping for some music of any kind but nothing but loud bar chatter. Our drinks came out ungarnished. Stoli orange with club should have an orange right? But no. That's fine. Was definitely not interested in staying for food when we witnessed the diners next to us at the bar. A very weak cuban pork sandwich.. all roll no meat was complained about to the worst manager I have ever seen in my life. I would have taken him for a bouncer with his attitude. There was no customer service. His opening line to the customer was "got a problem?". Huh? When asked if the sandwich should be this weak his response was "if you don't like it get out". Nice. Terrible experience at this place the other night for dinner with 5 others. We were seated immediately as we had a reservation and drinks were given promptly. Unfortunately, the good news ends there. We waited nearly 90 minutes for our dinner, and the waitress could not answer why our food was taking so long. Instead, we received about 5 rounds of bread. While waiting for our meals, the chef started serving dinners to nearby tables! (No wonder our food took so long!) When my filet mignon finally did arrive, it was completely raw in the middle and the rice was crunchy. I asked for a medium rare and it was as if the steak was still alive on my plate. Came here on a Saturday night in February. We were skeptical after reading the reviews. However we were pleasantly surprised and confused by all of the negative reviews. The olive bread they give you to start is so delicious and such a treat. The pear salad was DELICIOUS but easily big enough to be an entree. The pear salad can easily be split among 2 people as a appetizer. For my entree I had the rack of lamb which was cooked very well and serviced with green beans and carrots. This place Sucks!!! There is no other words to describe it. The Service is awful. In my experience the server came up to us and was being extremely rude and drop the check before we finished eating. She didn't ask if we need refills or if we wanted dessert. The management also is awful the manager came out to our table and was extremely rude telling us that he doesn't care if we come back or not. The manager also was circling our table including the bussers and other servers making us feel like they want us to leave. Went here for Sunday brunch. Ordered the STRAWBERRIES & CREAM French toast with fresh strawberry & mascarpone cheese filling, powdered sugar - What I got was berry yogurt spread between two pieces of dry french toast with a few cut up strawberries!!! Does the chef even know what mascarpone cheese is? I think not. And the tiny glass of mimosa which was only half filled tasted like watered down champagne with a drop of orange juice - disgusting. Spent Sunday night with 12 others on the back deck! The view was amazing but was nothing compared to the food! A crab cake made of huge chunks of fresh crab meat. A lobster mac and cheese that was a meal by itself with over 1-1/2 lbs of lobster!!!! The server made other great suggestions as well as some fun drinks delicious drinks from the bar. The entire staff was buzzing around, having fun, as they served, with great background live music. A great experience! We can't wait to go again! read more

Used to love union landing. Went to waypoint for an early dinner to sit outside (it's gorgeous). 15 mins before a waitress acknowledged us. We ordered drinks and apps and the apps came before the drinks. How does that even happen? Had to stop eating my meal when my drink ran out and that took another 10 mins to arrive. We got Scooby and tuna tartare. The scooby was super weird. Lump crab swimming in garlic butter and 2 random claws floating in it. The tartare was delicious. I had the tomato avocado salad that was delicious but it says heirloom tomatoes and they weren't. Friends had lobster roll that they said was good and another got a Cuban sandwich and the roll was over cooked. The view and sitting in the sun was awesome but don't go there for the food it's not good. The drinks are obnoxiously overpriced. read more

My friends and I dined at Waypoint 622 yesterday. The food and drinks were great but the service was outstanding. Our experience was above and beyond my expectations. Pam, our waitress, was one of the best servers I've ever had. She was quick, funny, friendly, and helpful. I cannot say enough good things about her. Terrible. The only thing they have going for them is the location. Otherwise, they would be out of business. Oysters and clams were full of shell shards. Fried oysters had a huge chunk of shell. Chef and kitchen do not care about the quality that comes out of the kitchen. read more

Nice outside bar overlooking the Manasquan River. That's it! Paid $38 for two margaritas after flagging down a bartender who ignored us. Beer in a plastic cup. Calamari was literally all breading for $17. Forced valet parking. They charge you $10 (returned when validated). WE ARE NEVER GOING BACK THERE AND WE ARE LOCALS. read more

Terrible service. Bartenders were not friendly and took 20 minutes to get anyone's attention. I asked for a glass of Reisling and it was warm and tasted like water. It really felt like they added water to the glass. I complained (nicely) and the bartender was rude and would not take it out my bill. I do not recommend this place at all. read more
