My sister in law Joanna and our family have been with Home Guard for a few months now, we used to use another company and we weren't happy so we tried Home Guard. We are so happy we switched. Richard Lamb was so friendly and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond answering our questions and explaining the products. Spiders especially are a big concern of ours because we have children that like to go play in the back yard and we have seen some big ones out there. I just signed on for Home Guard Pest Control Services. I had an issue with the initial agreement and the way it was setup. I was quite upset, and contacted the company that same night around 10pm. To my surprise, Riley immediately called me at 10:30pm and sorted out my issue with the agreement right away!! I have never ever come across a company owner, no matter big or small company who has done this in the decades of experience dealing with companies. I have no complaints about the service. They make regular service calls every 90 days just to check up and when we need them, we call them and they come in and do their thing. That comes part of the service along with the regular maintenance calls where they pest proof the exterior, granulate the yard, and even sweep webs off for us. We moved into a new home where all the field mice got in while the builders were building. Our regular service guy is Jef. He's been phenomenal. Every time we call, he comes out within a day to check on us and he calls prior to arriving just to let us know his ETA. He is very friendly and really knowledgeable about what techniques work and don't, what mice like and don't like, things we can do differently to prevent mice in the future, the products he uses, what to expect, what to worry about, what not to worry about, and even what other specific critters to be aware of in our specific area. Derek happened to knock on our door as I was putting some traps out that we purchased at the store. I immediately signed and Mark came the following day. One of the reasons we chose Homeguard was because the owner came to my home trying to gain clients. He spoke to me about the alternatives they have because I didn't want all those chemicals sprayed around my home. He let me know that they have an organic alternative with essential oils that would require a monthly service because that particular spray doesn't leave a residual and we would need more frequent services to stay on top of things. I agreed. Only I recently found out that they hadn't been using organic chemicals. So in a nutshell I was paying them MONTHLY for almost 3 YEARS for EXTRA chemicals that I had NEVER asked for. If I was using chemical vs organic a QUARTERLY service would have been more than sufficient. The reason I agreed to monthly was because I was told I was getting organic treatments. When I asked to the owner, Riley, to call me he had one of his managers call me. I had hoped that I would receive a phone call from Riley, the one who sold the business to begin with, with a sincere apology and honesty. I didn't get that. I also expected to be compensated for the money I paid for services in which I did NOT receive. My advice to anyone thinking they are getting organic treatments is to make sure you ask EVERY single time of what you are getting is organic. They don't carry that spray in their cars automatically .... they have to be prepared with it before they start their route. In addition, just a few months ago I received a letter saying they were DOUBLING my monthly bill. When I complained I was told by Riley that I was under charged. Mind you, he is the one who sold me the services at that price. We did agree to meet in the middle as I thought it was incredibly unrealistic to DOUBLE my monthly fees. Again, all the while I was paying them TRIPLE what I should have had I been on a quarterly service, to come and spray my house with the very chemical I told him from the beginning I didn't want. They may do good pest control but stay way unless you want headaches with the business end. i cancelled them back in August, and paid them off and so when no service showed up in Sept or Oct ( the end of my contract) I thought I was done with them. Today, in November I get a text and email saying to expect service 3 days from now. My emails have been returned because they can't have a proper server, they do not return calls and when i request confirmation of receipt of my payments, NADA. Very delayed update. In the following days aftet my last update, the owner of the company come and personnaly conducted and inspection, which was latter follwed by an insect sniffing dog. They discovered nothing, meaning no biting insects of any kind in our home. I was not impressed or sure that there findings were accurate. Now that time has passed it seems that the spike of mosquitos in the area explianation that was provided must have been dead on. With the cooler temps, my family and I have had 95% less bits. We did the service and then he came again, at that point told him we just weren't interested and not to come again. Thank you anyway basically. We just didn't need the service. Well they send me a bill for a years service. I call and said i never signed up for a year service! Please delete this bill. They said sorry you signed up. I said NO WAY did I ever sign up. I told them to prove it and send me the copy of my signature. They send me a copy of a digitally signed contract. FRAUDS!!!!! I told them this was wrong and deceitful and not legal. Would not recommend this company. Had them come over to treat our ant and spider problem. Then 3 weeks later the pests showed up again. Called & had Home Guard came out a 2nd time to do another complete spray of inside and outside the house. Unfortunately, within 2 to 3 weeks later, the ants and spider came back again inside and outside the house. We had to call another company to come and do the job just to make sure the pests won't come back again in such a short period of time. read more

I am pretty disappointed with these guys, not in terms of their pest control but in terms of their customer service. We signed up last year and had to cancel for other reasons than how homeguard performs their service. I wanted to sign up again yesterday because of a spider and ant issue. I need somebody quickly and they promised to send somebody on Monday which is good. However, then they said they slightly(!) increased the prices which is fine but... The increase was by 150% and I was going to be locked into an annual contract! I think that is bad customer service, a slight increase would have been fine, I understand that I may have gotten a great deal last time but 150% is pretty outrageous. They already service a few of our neighbors' houses so it would have been easy to come out here for them after the initial treatment. read more
